Tandlmayer, Anna Marie

A memorial service was held for Anna Marie Tandlmayer, 85, also known as Mary Bodanza, who died February 29 in her residence on Pineland Road, Exeter Township. She was the wife of Henry A. Tandlmayer. Born in Reading, she was employed as a secretary to the manager of trade sales for The Glidden Co., Reading; as a secretary to the manager at Jacob's Aircraft Co., Pottstown; secretary to the manager of industrial products for Atlantic Refining Co., West Reading and was last employed as executive secretary to the president of Crompton-Knowles Corp., Robeson Township, retiring in 1965. She was also employed for many years as an independent consultant for Avon home products. Tandlmayer was a 1936 graduate of Reading High School and was a graduate of the McCann School of Business, Reading. She was a member of St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Exeter Township. She is also survived by two sons, Jack Gaston, Washington Crossing, Bucks County and Brother Dennis Gaston, serving with the Franciscan Brothers, Washington, D.C. Other survivors include two grandchildren. Inurnment was in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton. The Auman Funeral Homes, Reiffton, handled the arrangements.

Tarantino, Joseph L.

Joseph L. Tarantino, 75, of 822 N. Fourth St., Reading, formerly of Minersville, died Monday morning at Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading. He had been in ill since November. Born in Minersville, he was a son of the late Carmen and Anna Spina Tarantino. He was a graduate of Miners ville Area High School and lived in the Minersville area since 1965. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a restaurateur, having owned the Washington Hotel, Hamburg; Village Tavern, Leesport, and Guard House, Reading, retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Margaret Roman Catholic Church, Reading, and Minersville American Legion Post 544; former member of St. Barbara Roman Catholic Church, Minersville; life member of Mountaineer Fire Company, Minersville; member of Union Fire Company, Hamburg, and past president of Order of Sons of Italy, Minersville. While in Reading, he served on the civil service board. He was a member and treasurer of the board of Berks Area Rapid Transit Authority and Reading Parking Authority. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Sophia Farenish, in 1990; a sister, Connie Dennick. Surviving are a daughter, Kathleen Mahon, Leesport; three brothers, Michael, Lake Wynonah, and Louis N. and Fred J., both of Minersville; an aunt; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 9:45 a.m. Friday from Dutcavich Funeral Home, Minersville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in St. Barbara's Church by the Rev. David C. Liebner. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Branch Township.

Taylor, Augusta (nee Freehafer)

Woman Dies as Result of Burning Accident. Clothing Became Ignited at Gas Range -- Native of Schuylkill Haven

Mrs. Augusta Taylor (nee Freehafer), wife of Joseph Taylor, aged 56 years, died in the Reading Hospital at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, of injuries sustained in a burning accident. Her son-in-law, Edwin Daniels, is confined to the same institution suffering from severe burns of the hands and feet.

Mrs. Taylor arose at her accustomed hour and proceeded to prepare breakfast. The accident occurred about 7:30 a.m. Saturday. In some manner her apron came in contact with the flames of the gas range. She did not notice that her clothes were burning until the flames started to leap up about her person. Her screams for help brought her son-in-law to her assistance. He quickly secured a piece of carpet and in a short time had smothered the flames, not however, before every stitch of clothing had been burned from Mrs. Taylor. She became unconscious and the Reading Hose ambulance was summoned.

The injured woman and her son-in-law were rushed to the hospital. Mrs. Taylor was taken to the operating table where it was found that she was badly burned from head to foot.

Undertaker C.I. Miller took charge of the remains and removed them to the deceased's residence, 928 Madison avenue.

Deceased was a native of Schuylkill Haven and was a daughter of Michael and Sarah (nee Geier) Freehafer, both deceased. She was a resident of this city 12 years. These children survive: Sadie, wife of George Oates, William G., Alice A., wife of George Drenkel, jr., Amelia, wife of Edwin Daniels, Edith M., Leroy and Raymond; also these sisters and brothers: Mrs. M. Alice Zimmerman, Sarah, wife of William Mattern, Emma, wife of George W. Boyer, Kate, wife of Charles Phillips, Richard E., and Edward F. Freehafer. One grandchild also survives. Deceased was a member of the First U.E. Church.

Taylor, Willis

TAYLOR - In this city, on the 15th inst., Willis Taylor, aged 56 years, 7 months and 22 days. Internment in Charles Evans Cemetery.

Teeple, Sarah N.

Mrs. Sarah N. Teeple, wife of Jacob Teeple, died yesterday at the family home in Northampton of heart trouble, aged 45 years. When her husband awoke at 7 o'clock she complained of feeling sick. She expired before Dr. Klotz could arrive. Besides her husband she leaves three children, Mrs. Frank Teyitz, Robert and Elsie, and an adopted son, William Rissmiller, all at home. Mrs. Teeple was a daughter of the late William Rissmiller and was born near Mertztown. Her father died a year ago and her mother also preceded her to the grave. She leaves one sister, Mrs. Goldstraw, who lives next door to the Teeple home, and three brothers, one in Lebanon and two in Schuylkill county.

Templin, Albert G.

Services were held for Albert George "Cactus" Templin, 64, of North Mill Street, Birdsboro, husband of Suzanne S. (Bewley) Templin, who died May 6 at his home. Born in Birdsboro, he worked for Mrs. Smith's Frozen Foods as a supervisor at the Morgantown and Pottstown plants for 30 years, retiring in 1993. Templin was a member of Holy Cross United Methodist Church of Reading. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Guy A. Templin, Kevin J. Templin and Terry A. Templin, all of Mohnton; a stepson, Daniel K. Lochman of Bernville; a stepdaughter, Michele M. Hellman of Sterling, Va. Also two brothers, John Templin of Blandon and Russell Templin of Leesport; three sisters, Anna Mae Reider of Gibraltar; Florence Tolland of Temple and Shirley Wakely, of Morgantown. Also 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was predeceased by a brother. Contributions may be made to the Birdsboro Police Department, 200 E. Main Street, Birdsboro, PA 19508; or the Birdsboro Fire Department, 214 W. First St., Birdsboro, PA 19508. The Dengler Funeral Home, Birdsboro, handled the arrangements.

Among the local survivors of Albert G. Templin, 64, who died May 6 in his Birdsboro residence, is a stepson, Daniel K. Lochman, Bernville, and a brother, Russell Templin, Leesport.

Among the local survivors of Albert G. Templin, who died of natural causes May 6 in his Birdsboro residence, is a brother, John Templin, Blandon.

Templin, Arthur E.

Templin, Arthur E., died November 11, 1951, as a result of injuries received in an accident while at work in the employ of the J. Robert Bazely Stripping and Contracting firm. Six children, Margaret, the wife of William Lightcap; Bertha, the wife of Warren Everdale; Charles, at home; and Donald and James, in the Pottsville Home for Children; all of Pottsville; and Robert, stationed with the U. S. Army in Germany, survive their father. Three brothers and two sisters, Maurice of Port Carbon; Jesse of Schuylkill Haven; Roy of Pottsville; Mary, the wife of Harvey Berger, Pottsville; and Irene, the wife of Harvey Reedy, Topton, remain to await the day of resurrection. Christian services were held in the Allen Funeral Home, November 14, with interment following in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery of Port Carbon. __D. R. Wolfe, pastor

Templin, Levi

Demise of Levi Templin, Aged 58 years. Several hours after he fell a distance of 5 feet and struck his head on a stone, while in the employ of Lloyd Miller. Levi Templin, aged 58 years, Tenth and Marion Streets, died from the effects at 10 p.m. Tuesday, in the Homeopathic Hospital. Last June he was a passenger in an automobile which crashed into the rear end of a heavily laden truck, on the Allentown Pike, near the Half-Way House. Several hours later, Harry Bean, one of the party, died in the Homeopathic Hospital, while Templin, who had sustained a fracture of the skull, underwent an immediate operation. Although his life was saved, he never fully recovered. It is believed that the fall Tuesday he injured the old fracture.

Deceased was born in Fleetwood and came to Reading 20 years ago. He resided at a hotel at Tenth and Marion Streets and was a member of the Marion Fire Company. Red Men and the F. O. E. He was an ardent baseball fan and took a keen interest in all sports. His father Levi Templin, Sr., died many years ago. He learned the butcher business from his father, who conducted a shop in Fleetwood. Surviving are a son, Clarence and a daughter, both of this city.

Coroner Rorke was notified and will issue a certificate today. Undertaker Lutz took charge of the body.

Terreson, Jesse James

Jesse James Terreson, 2, Angelica, Berks Co., died May 5, 2005 in Reading Hospital of natural causes. Born Sept. 15, 2002, in West Reading, he was the son of Holly DeLaFuente and Robert H. Terreson, with whom he resided. Jesse was known to his family as "Daredevil," he loved anything on wheels, especially motorcycles, enjoyed books and was fascinated with bugs. Also surviving: maternal grandmother, Susan (Hagy); step-grandfather, Frank Sweigart, Denver; maternal grandfather, Gustavo DeLaFuente; step-grandmother, Margaret Flemming, Jr., both Bonsequre, AL; maternal great-grandmothers, Betty (Stohler) Hagy, Akron and Jessica Martinez, Harlingen, TX; paternal grandmother, Patricia (Kepley) Terreson, Sinking Spring; paternal grandfather, Bruce H. Terrill, John M.

TERRILL - In this city, on the 1st inst., John M. Terrill, aged 38 years, 5 months and 28 days. The relatives and friends of the family, also Neversink Tribe No. 351, I. O. R. M.; Thaddeus Stevens Council, No. 252, Jr. O. U. A. M., and Wyomissing Council, Royal Arcanum, are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, without further notice, from the late residence, No. 1224 Spruce Street, on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Services at the house. Interment in Charles Evans Cemetery.

Terry, Gwendolyn K.

A memorial service was held for Gwendolyn K. Terry, 92, formerly of Honey Brook, Chester County, who died March 20 in her residence on South Cedar Crest Drive, Sun Lakes, Ariz. Her husband, Jackson G. Terry, died in 1980. Born in White Horse, Chester County, she was employed for more than 20 years as a waitress by the Howard Johnson Restaurant, Brandywine, Pennsylvania Turnpike, until her retirement. She was a member of Honey Brook United Methodist Church. Surviving are a son, Larry G., Exeter Township; and two daughters, Nancy A. (Terry) Peters, with whom she resided, and Peggy T. (Terry) Carole, Auburn, Calif. Other survivors include a sister; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The Auman Funeral Homes, Reiffton, was in charge of the arrangements.

Texter, Catharine

Texter -- In Warwick township, Lancaster county, December 27th, 1874, Mrs. Catharine Texter, widow of the late Martin Texter, of Spring township, Berks county, aged 89 years, 3 months and 1 day. She leaves a family of 11 children, 54 grand-children, 61 great-grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. The oldest of the children is 69 years and the youngest 45 years of age.

Texter, Harvey L., Jr.

Harvey L. Texter Jr., 61, Reading, died of natural causes July 1 at 10:45 a.m. in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient since June 27. He was the husband of Joy C. (Hilton) Texter. Born in Reading, he was a son of Harvey L. Texter, Reading, and the late Catherine R. (O'Byle) Texter. Texter had been employed for 25 years as a local sales manager for Wohl Shoe Co., based in St. Louis, Mo., retiring in 1991. He was later self-employed for 12 years in the remodeling business. He was a member of Community Evangelical Church, Sinking Spring. Texter was a 1963 graduate of Reading High School. He is also survived by a daughter, Debra G. (Texter) Schnovel, Shillington, and two sons, Harvey C., Reading, and Dwayne R., Exeter Township. Other survivors include a brother, Richard A., Sinking Spring. There are also four grandchildren. Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in Sanders Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.

Thirwechter, Catharine

Gary G. Thomas, 65, Wyomissing, died of natural causes May 3 in Reading Hospital. He was the husband of Linda R. (Leffel) Thomas. Born in Kutztown, he was a son of the late Grant H. and Lillian M. (Gambler) Thomas. Thomas and his wife were the owners-operators of Garlin Appaisals, Wyomissing. He was a 1957 graduate of Girard College, Philadelphia. Thomas is also survived by two daughters, Vicki L. Thomas, Wyomissing, and Karon L. (Thomas) Esser, Kutztown; and a stepdaughter, Monica S. Hoch, Reading. Other survivors include two grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Vincent Thomas, in 1969. Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Edward J. Hildenbrand Funeral Home Inc., Kutztown. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown.

Thomas, Judith A.

Services were held for Judith Ann Thomas, 57, of Cedar Lane, Douglass Township who died November 12 in Lehigh Valley Hospice, Allentown. She was born in Clearfield. Surviving is a sister, Betty (Thomas) Norman, Boyertown. Burial was in the Mount Zion Cemetery, Curwensville, Clearfield County. The Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Clearfield, handled the arrangements.

Thomas, Margaret F.

Margaret F. Thomas, 89, of Richlandtown, formerly of North Hills, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002 at Phoebe Richland Health Care Center, Richlandtown. Funeral services were held Nov. 9. Interment was in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville. She was the wife of the late Victor Thomas. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Margaret (Rosenzweig) Frey. She had worked as an executive secretary for various car dealers in the Philadelphia suburbs for many years until retiring. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Oreland, where she had taught Sunday School. She was a former member of the Rockwild Union Sunday School, Sellersville, where she had taught Sunday School for 40 years. She is survived by: one sister, Elizabeth Frey of East Rockhill Township; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters. Arrangements: Bernard Suess Funeral Home Inc., Perkasie.

Thomas, Teresa

A Funeral Mass was held for Teresa Y. (Yesko) Thomas, 68 of Princeton (formerly of Berkeley Heights, N.J.) who died July 28, while vacationing in Long Beach Island, N.J. She was the wife of Robert Thomas. Born in Lackrone, PA., she lived in Berkeley Heights for 32 years before moving to Princeton 5 years ago. She was the Municipal Court Administrator in Berkeley Heights for 17 years, retiring 7 years ago. Thomas played tennis for Berkeley Heights Senior League and West Windsor Seniors Tennis League. She was a member of Senior Citizens of West Windsor, N.J. and Keenagers of West Windsor. Surviving in addition to her husband, are two sons, Robert, Jr. of Mine Hill, N.J., John of Hackettstown, N.J.; two daughters, Cynthia Buckley, Milford, N.J., Sandra Foster of East Greenville, Pa. Also, two sisters, a brother and six grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society. The arrangements were handled by the Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial in Berkeley Heights, N.J.

Thomas Sr., Willard

A Masonic service was held for Willard Thomas Sr., 79, of Hemlock House, Douglassville, Amity Township, and formerly of Pottstown, who died May 15 in Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading. He was the husband of Pauline (Templin) Thomas. Born in Ocala, Fla., he graduated in 1943 from the former North Coventry High School. He was an electrician for 39 years for the former Firestone Tire & Rubber Co., and then for Occidental Chemical Co., before retiring in 1985. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Thomas was a member of Valley Forge Baptist Temple in Collegeville. He was also a member of Stichter Lodge No. 254, F&AM, Pottstown, the Southeastern Branch of the Submarine Veterans of World War II and a life member of Pike Township Sportsman's Club. Surviving with his wife are four sons, Dennis M. Thomas of Sanford, Fla., Willard Thomas Jr., of East Greenville, Jeffrey S. Thomas of Gilbertsville and Scott A. Thomas of Pottstown; three daughters, Dianna L. Saindon and Susan L. Sands, both of Douglassville, and Deborah K. Ziemba of Pottstown. Also a brother, Robert Thomas of Honey Brook; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother. Burial was in Birdsboro Cemetery. The Dengler Funeral Home, Birdsboro, handled the arrangements.

Thompson, James

Philadelphia, Jan. 28--Ex-Chief Justice James Thompson, of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, fell dead in the Supreme Court room, this morning. The deceased was arguing before the Supreme Court in banc, in a case of tax titles, and had just closed his speech. He had spoken but about five minutes. The opposing lawyer had said that Judge Elwell was a better Judge on tax titles than he. Here he made a remark that it was amusing that the opposite counsel should remark this, and then went on to refer to the fact that that decision was not made by himself.

Judge Thompson was going on with his argument, and was leaning over the table, when he dropped down, and in five minutes ceased to live. The court immediately adjourned.

James Thompson was born in Middlesex, Berks County, Penn., Oct. 1, 1806. He received a good education, and, after leaving school, entered a printing office for the purpose of learning type-setting. He commenced the study of law, and in 1828 he was admitted to the Bar. His talent and energy speedily gained him a good practice, and turning his attention to politics he was three times elected to the Legislature, in 1832, 1833, and 1834. During his last term he was Speaker of the House and made a very excellent impression as a presiding officer by his knowledge of parliamentary rules, and his firmness and impartiality. In 1836 he was a Presidential Elector, and for six years he sat in the District Court as presiding Judge. In 1845 he was elected to Congress, and served until 1851. He was elected Judge of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania for fifteen years, in 1857, and was the Democratic candidate for re-election in October, 1872, but was defeated. During the latter part of his term he was Chief Justice.

Judge Thompson was always a popular man with his party, and upon more than one occasion he was suggested as the Democratic candidate for the Presidency, but was not accepted by the nominating conventions. personally he was an amiable and worthy gentleman, and a favorite in society and among the members of the Bar.

A meeting of the members of the Bar has been called for to-morrow (Thursday) morning at 11 o'clock, to take action in reference to the death of Judge Thompson.

Thompson, John S.

The funeral of John S. Thompson, former postmaster and retired business man, took place from his residence, 1848 Perkiomen avenue. Several hundred persons viewed the body. Lodge delegations attended. Rev. Max C. Wiant, pastor of the First Baptist Church, was the officiating clergyman. The bearers were six members of Reading Lodge, No. 549, F. and A.M. The body was attired in a black dress suit and rested in a square-cornered solid oak casket with silver antique handles, trimmings and name plate. The tributes, which were numerous, were formed in banks on either side of the casket. Interment was made in Charles Evans cemetery. Undertaker Clayton I. Miller had charge of the arrangements.

Thompson, Nicholas

Thompson--On the second inst., Nicholas Thompson, aged 67 years, 6 months and 28 years. The relatives and friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, from his late residence, Union Canal Office, on Tuesday afternoon. Services at St. Peter's Catholic Church at 3 o'clock. Interment at Catholic Cemetery.

Thompson, Nicholas

Nicholas Thompson, who funeral takes place at 3 o'clock this afternoon, from the collector's office of the Union canal, at the first locks above the Harrisburg bridge, suffered from an affection of the lungs for several years, and was confined to bed about three months.

Deceased was, when a young man, a forgeman in Lebanon county, but was in the employ of the Union canal company over a quarter century. He was superintendent of the branch canal extending from Jonestown to Pinegrove up to its abandonment about a doze years ago, when he was appointed collector of the company and removed to the locks above the Harrisburg bridge, where he resided ever since. He was a kind-hearted man and had numerous acquaintances and warm friends in this city. He leaves a widow and seven adult children, nearly all of whom are in the west.

Deceased was dressed in a black suit and laid in a walnut casket. J. Felix & Son are the undertakers having the funeral in charge. The funeral will proceed to St. Peter's Catholic church, and from there to the Catholic cemetery, on the slope of Neversink mountain, where the interment will be made.

Thomson, Dorothy I.

Dorothy I. Thomson, 97, of Quakertown, formerly of Lower Milford Township, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003 at Belle Haven Nursing Home, Quakertown. Graveside services were held Jan. 21 at Quakertown Union Cemetery. She was the wife of the late Russell P. Thomson Sr. Born in Perkasie, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Emma (Pfeifle) Diehl. She was last employed by the former David Hubbard Baseball Co., in Perkasie, sewing baseballs in her home. She is survived by: one daughter, Nancy A. Furst, of Center Valley, and one son, Merrill S. Thomson, of Quakertown; one brother, Robert Diehl, in Wisconsin; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Russell P. Thomson Jr. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements: C. R. Strunk Funeral Home Inc., Quakertown.

Thornburg, Charity

Charity, wife of Robert S. Thornburg, died of a complication of diseases at 10:20 p.m. Monday at her residence, 316 South Tenth Street, aged 60 years and 13 days. Deceased was born in Reading and lived here all her life. Her parents were the late Henry and Emeline Welch. She was in ill health for the last two years. She was a member of St. Paul's Memorial Reformed Church. There remain her husband and three daughters: Tillie, wife of Howard H. Naftzinger, Reading; Laura L. and Emma E. Thornburg, at home. Three grandchildren, one brother, Samuel, and five half-brothers survive: Philip Haines, Reading; Henry, Toledo, O.; John, Pittsburgh; Thomas, Pottersville, Pa.; George, Youngstown, O.

Thornburg, Iva

Thornburg, Iva, a Charter Member of Bethany E. C. Church, Reading, Pa., passed to eternal reward Monday, January 25 at the age of 69 years, 10 months, and 17 days. She walked with the Lord a long time till she came to know Him quite intimately. She was one of the Mothers of Bethany church and as such was held in loving esteem by all. Her first marriage was to Winfield Klahr to which union were born 2 sons and 1 daughter: Walter and Allen Klahr of Reading and Edna, wife of Ralph Shupp of Reading. Later united in matrimony to Edward G. Thornburg of Reading, she resided most of her life in Reading. Services were held in her honor from the Funeral Home in charge of her Pastor with interment in Laureldale Cemetery. Tiderman, Lawrence C.

Services were held in the Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, Fleetwood, for Lawrence C. Tiderman, 88, formerly of Bernville, who died Nov. 7 in Berkshire Center, Reading, where he had resided eight years. Burial was in St. Paul's Cemetery, Fleetwood. He was predeceased by his wife, Florence I. (McFarland) Tiderman. Born in Gothenburg, Neb., he was a son of the late Emil S. and Edna M. (Johnson) Tiderman. Until retiring in 1977, he had worked at several area knitting mills, including Harms Knitting Mill, Bernville. He was a World War II Army veteran. Surviving are two sons, Ronald L. Tiderman, Mount Penn, and Kenneth H. Tiderman, Reading, and three daughters: Sharon L. (Tiderman) Schwambach, Reading; Mary E. Tiderman, Gibraltar; and Carol A. (Tiderman) Dietrich, Kenhorst. There are also six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Other survivors include two sisters, Margaret E. (Tiderman) Goodhart and Ethel E. V. (Tiderman) Toben, both of Fleetwood. He was predeceased by a son, Richard L. Tiderman.

Tiderman, Lawrence N.

Among the local survivors of Lawrence N. Tiderman, formerly of Bernville, who died Nov. 7 in Berkshire Center, Reading, where he had resided eight years, are two sisters, Margaret E. (Tiderman) Goodhart and Ethel E. V. (Tiderman) Toben, both of Fleetwood.

Tilli, Chance Christian

Chance Christian Tilli, age 5 months, of Bethlehem, died Dec. 15 in the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He was the son of Frank M. Tilli and Sharrell S. Fisher with whom he resided. In addition to his parents he is survived by a Maternal Grandfather, Wilbur W. Antrim, Mt. Jewett, Pa; Maternal Grandmother, Marcella M. Graveside services were held for Stephen P. Tkac, 92, formerly of Bingaman Court, who died November 3 in Beverly Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Exeter Township, where he had resided since May. Born in Lebanon, Tkac was employed by the Wyomissing Glazed Paper Co., until his retirement. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Surviving is a nephew, Edmund J. Levesque Jr., Wyomissing. Tischbein, Naomi E.

Naomi E. Tischbein, 84, of Quakertown, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003 at St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital. Services were held private. She was the wife of the late Lawrence Robert Tischbein. Born in Quakertown, she was the daughter of the late Oscar S. and Sadie (Krueger) Koch. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Quakertown. She is survived by: three daughters, Ellen L. Schroy and Linda Fluck, both of Quakertown, and Janet Adams of Dallas, Tex.; one brother, Oscar Koch, of Quakertown; one grandson and two great-grandchildren. Titlow, Edwin J.

Funeral services for Edwin J. Titlow, 79, formerly of Trexlertown, prominent Reading businessman, who died Sunday, will be held on Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Lutz funeral home, 2100 Perkiomen Ave., Reading. Interment will be made in the Laureldale cemetery. A native of Trexlertown, he was a son of the late Charles A. and Mary, nee Dohner, Titlow. He conducted a retail general store in Trexlertown and a small shoe manufacturing business in Allentown before he moved to Reading. In 1904 he was one of the co-founders of the Titlow-Schuler Co. Inc. in Reading, of which he was president from the time of its incorporation until his death. For several years he was a trustee of Cedar Crest college. A member of St. Mark's Reformed church, he served as treasurer of the Eastern Synod of the Reformed church for many years. Active in business, church and civic affairs all of his life, he belonged to the Kiwanis club, Reading Lodge 540, F. & A.M., and Macungie Lodge 231, Odd Fellows. He had been vice president of the former Northeastern Trust Co., Reading, and treasurer of the General Engineering Co. of that city. His wife, Maggie (Kline) Titlow, died last June 7. Surviving are two sons, K. Ray Titlow, Laureldale, and James K. Titlow, Wyomissing; a daughter, Mrs. Esther K. Lutz, Reading; a brother, George F. Titlow, Trexlertown; five grandchildren.

Titlow, Elias

Elias Titlow died Friday morning at three o'clock at the home of his son-in-law, James Keiser, Topton, of general debility, after being bedfast two weeks, aged 75 years. Deceased was a veteran of the Civil War. The following children survive: Oliver and George, of Reading; Jeremiah, of Maxatawny, and Alice, wife of James Keiser, near Topton. There are 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. His wife died about 34 years ago. She was a sister to Mrs. Aquila Knauss, of Macungie.

Elmira H., nee Fenstermacher, wife of Jeremiah Titlow, died suddenly on Friday afternoon at her home in Topton, of heart trouble, aged 68 years, 2 months, 27 days. She is survived by her husband, a retired painter; three sons, William and Frank, of Hancock, and Clement of Topton; two daughters, Sallie, at home, and Mrs. Clinton Loch, of Topton; one sister, Mrs. David Walbert, of Allentown; one brother, Jas. O. Fenstermacher, of Topton; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 1.30 o'clock at her late home, on High street, Topton, with further services in the Longswamp church and interment in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Meckstroth will officiate.

Titlow, Franklin L.

Franklin L. Titlow, 65, of Mertztown, a road supervisor of Longswamp township, Berks county, died Monday at the Allentown hospital a few hours after he was admitted with lobar pneumonia. A son of the late Jeremiah and Elmira, nee Fenstermacher, Titlow, he was a member of the Reformed wing of the Ziegels church, Pioneer Grange 1777, Topton, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Kutztown. He is survived by his widow, Estella, nee Knerr, Titlow; two daughters, Leona Titlow, at home; Mrs. Raymond Weaver, Fleetwood; one sister, Mrs. Sallie Carl, Reading, and two brothers, William and Clement Titlow, both of Topton. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. from the Schofer funeral home, 107 Main St., Topton, with further services at the Ziegels church. Interment in cemetery adjoining the church.

Titlow, William

William Titlow, a retired upholsterer who resided at 118 Main St., Topton, died yesterday morning at Allentown Hospital at the age of 79. Born in Longswamp Township, son of the late Jeremiah and Elmira (Fenstermacher) Titlow, he worked as an upholsterer for many years in Allentown factories and last was employed as a clerk at the Topton House. He was a member of the Reformed wing of St. Paul's Church, Mertztown. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha (Fritch), and his second wife, Amelia (Reese). Survivors include a son, Max, of Boston; a brother, Clement, of Topton, and a granddaughter, Ann, of New York City.

Charles R. Tobias, 64, of Mannerchor Road, Temple, died of natural causes April 3 at 9:55 p.m. in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient since March 16. He was the husband of Nancy L. (Endy) Tobias. Born in Temple, he was a son of the late Samuel F. Sr. and Emma A. (Grim) Tobias. Tobias had been employed for 42 years by Carpenter Technology Corp., Reading, retiring as process engineer in 1999. He was former deacon of Christ United Church of Christ, Temple, and former treasurer of the Sierra Club of Berks County. Tobias is also survived by a sister, Geraldine M. Tobias, Laureldale; and two brothers, Samuel F. Jr., Mena, Ark., and Allen L., Greenfields. Memorial services will be Saturday, June 5 at 11 a.m. in Milkins Funeral Home Inc., Temple.

Tobias, Eliza Fenstermaker Schwanger (nee Poh)

Mrs. Eliza Tobias, widow of Frank Tobias and for many years a resident of the First ward in Allentown, died yesterday morning at her late home at Wescosville. She would have been 91 years old in March. Born in Longswamp township, March 10, 1853, Mrs. Tobias was the daughter of the late Henry N. and Maria, nee Long, Poh. She was married three times: to Henry Fenstermaker, to Oliver Schwanger and to Frank Tobias, all of whom preceded her in death. Surviving are two sons, William E. Fenstermaker of Emmaus and Harvey Schwanger of Allentown, and two brothers, Nathan Poh of Mertztown and Peter Poh of Allentown. Five grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Ritter and Buzby funeral home, 36-38 S. 5th St., Emmaus. Rev. LeRoy Bond will officiate. Interment will be in the Longswamp cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Emma A. Tobias, 76, died Sunday at 8:25pm in her residence at 5113 Kutztown Rd, Temple. She was the wife of Samuel F. Tobias, Sr. Born in Temple, she was a daughter of the late Paul D. and Florence M. (Bear) Grim. She was employed as a sales clerk by Boscov's for 10 years, retiring in 1975. Other survivors include a daughter, Geraldine M. Tobias, Harrisburg, and three sons: Samuel F. Jr., Albuquerque, NM, Charles R. Temple, and Allan L., Greenfields.

She is also survived by a sister Anna M., wife of Edgar Holland, Temple, and four brothers:, Charles D. Grim, Fleetwood RD 1, Henry L. Grim, Temple, Daniel A. Grim, Laureldale, and Robert R. Florence Tobias, 92, formerly of Reading, died of natural causes Aug. 20, 2007, in Berks Heim, Bern Township, where she had resided two years. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Linniaueas C. and Lettie M. (Hoyer) Tobias. She was employed as a stock clerk by Camp Industries, Reading, retiring in 1979. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Reading. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Sanders Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 1501 N. 11th St., Reading. Friends may call Saturday 9 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Age 67 years, 3 months and 22 days, died at the old Tobias homestead, in Bern township, at 7 a.m., Sunday. He had been ill for some time with dropsy. Minerva A. Tobias, 95, formerly of Temple, died May 29 at 2:28 a.m. in her residence on Route 419, Marion Township. Her husband, Linniaueas Tobias, died Sept. 7, 1975. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Irvin and Elizabeth (Berger) Meck. Tobias was employed as a looper by the Rosedale Knitting Mill, Laureldale, and several other area knitting mills until her retirement. She was a life member of the Queen of the Valley Lodge No. 376, Slatington, Lehigh County. Surviving are a nephew, James Smith, with whom she resided, and another nephew and a niece. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Milkins Funeral Home Inc., Temple. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Tuckerton.

Tobin, Bonnie Lee

Memorial services were held in St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Kutztown, for Bonnie Lee Tobin, Juliette, Ga., and formerly of Kutztown, who died Nov. 26 in Sloan-Kettering Memorial Cancer Center, New York City. Inurnment was private. She was the wife of Dr. Brian W. Tobin. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of John C. Schaeffer, Maxatawny Township, and the late Mary L. (Erb) Schaeffer. She was a graduate of Kutztown Area High School and received a bachelor of science degree in dietetics cum laude from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1984. In 1992, she earned a master of science degree in physiology from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. Tobin was employed as a dietitian consultant for the Medical Center of Central Georgia, Macon, since 1992. Previously she was employed as director of food services at Nittany Calley Rehabilitation Hospital, Centre County, from 1985-1988. She received the 1991 National Trainee Award from the Canadian Diabetes Association for her diabetes research, and co-authored several articles in journals regarding insulin action in animals. Tobin was a member of Marble White Baptist Church, Macon. Also surviving are a daughter, Stacey Marie Tobin, and a son, Daniel W. Tobin, both at home; and a stepmother, Cynthia P. (Frederick) Schaeffer, Maxatawny Township. Other survivors include two brothers, Tim D. Schaeffer, Topton, and David J. Schaeffer, Kutztown. There are also her paternal grandparents, John D. and Maude E. (DeLong) Schaeffer; her maternal grandmother, Mae E. (Yoder) Erb; and a step-grandfather, Ernest J. Frederick, all of Kutztown. The Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, was in charge of arrangements.

Todd, Catharine (nee Hallman)

Catharine K. (nee Hallman) widow of the late Dr. Samuel M. Todd, died at her home on College Street [Boyertown], following a stroke of apoplexy with which she was stricken last Thursday evening, while seated at the evening meal, just after returning from a visit to some friends. She was aged 74 years, 2 months and 7 days.

Deceased was a daughter of the late Isaac and Catharine Hallman, of Evansburg, Montgomery County, where she was born May 15, 1844. In 1865 she was married to Dr. Samuel Todd, the ceremony being performed by the Rev. H. Louis Balger, Lutheran pastor of Norristown. Deceased was a member of the St. James' Episcopal Church of Evansburg and was confirmed by the Rev. W. R. Stockton, rector. Her husband was a widely known physician and highly esteemed in this community. He was also a veteran of the Civil War, having enlisted in the Second Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, which was organized in Norristown. Dr. Todd died January 2, 1907.

The union was blessed with three children, two of whom are still living at home, Luruqua and Alla. Dr. John Todd, a son, who was practicing in this borough and who had a bright future, died April 1890. One sister Mrs. Anna R. Buck, of Frankford, Philadelphia, also survives. A coincidence is that father, mother and son, each died on a Monday and each of the funerals were held on a Sunday.

The funeral will be held from her late home College Street, on Sunday afternoon July 28, 1:30 o'clock. All services at the house by the Rev. George G. Greenawald, pastor of the Good Shepherd Reformed Church. Interment Fairview Cemetery. Undertaker James J. Brown has charge.

Todd, John H.

Death of Dr. John H. Todd. A Prominent Young Physician's Life Gradually Ebbs Away.

One of the saddest events ever recorded in the mortality records of Boyertown is that of our good friend and companion, Dr. John Hallman Todd. Young Doctor Todd was one of our enterprising and prominent citizens. He was born in this town May 6th, 1870. From early youth he attended the home educational institutions, Prof. Arms' school at Pottstown for two years, and a thorough six years in the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated with honors in 1894. He at once engaged in active practice at home and has been very successful. He took sick last fall from what was at first supposed to be a severe cold, but had a very sick spell and recovered. He had just engaged in practice when he again had took ill. He was continually confined, gradually weakening, and all efforts of medical skill, both from his aged and experienced father Dr. S. M. Todd, his Uncle, Dr. John Todd, of Pottstown, and eminent professors of the medical art of Philadelphia, the soothing and comforting aid of a mother's care, his constant attendant, the consoling presence of two affectionate sisters, and the many friends, who brought floral tributes and tokens of love and affection to make him happy and comfortable, availed nothing. Death came on Monday morning at 9 o'clock, April 3rd, at the age of 28 years, 10 months, and 27 days. He was the only son of Dr. and Mrs. S. M. Todd, who are sadly bereft of their aid and comfort in old age. Deceased leaves two sisters, Misses Lauruqua and Alice G. Todd.

Dr. Todd was very prominent in society. Coming from a refined people he was closely identified in good society. He was very enterprising and always took an active part in affairs of municipal government and matters of home industry. A man of good judgment, fearlessly expressed. He was a prime mover to bring about the removal of our school children from most unhealthful surroundings to a new and healthy location. He was the first health officer of the Board of Health of this town and did good and telling service. He was for three years a school director and at the time he took sick the secretary of the board. Sick at the time of the last election, he declined re-election. He was a member of the orders: A.O.K. of M.C., No. 46, P. O. S. of A., K. of the G. Eagle, Friendship Hook and Ladder Co., and the Alpine Social and Musical Co. These organizations will attend the funeral in a body and four of each will be pall bearers. The funeral will be held tomorrow at 12:30 P.M., from his late home at North Reading Avenue.

He was of a mild and kind disposition, polite and gentle, and of excellent character. The words of the 23 Psalm are appropriate to his life. The friends can view the body from 10 o'clock A.M., to 12:30 P.M. The services will be at the house, conducted by Revs. A.M. Weber and J.E. Freeman. Funeral director Brown, of D.C. Brumbach & Co., has charge. The body reposes in a fine Springfield metallic casket furnished by the Boyertown Burial Casket Company. Interment will be in Fair View Cemetery.

Tomasovic, George P.

George P. Tomasovic, 53, of Quakertown, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002 at St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital. Memorial services were held Nov. 7. Born in Allentown, he was the son of George A. Tomasovic of California and the late Florence (Reiss) Tomasovic. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. In addition to his father, he is survived by: one brother, John C. of Quakertown; three sisters, Debbie Kuhns of Promise Land, Pa., Cathy Varillo of San Antonio, Tex. and Jane Wilfong of Wymberly, Tex. Toms, Emma

An inquest was held yesterday at No. 12 Jones street, over the remains of Miss Emma Toms, aged twenty-three. From the evidence it appears that Miss Toms was a highly respectable and well-known Sunday school teacher. On Sunday morning she accompanied several members of the Bank street Methodist Church to be present at the dedication of a new Sunday school, and while returning to her home, she dropped to the sidewalk in a state of insensibility. She was conveyed to a drug store, and Police Surgeon-Kimbark was called in but the young lady expired in about ten minutes. Dr. Kimbark expressed the opinion that death resulted from apoplexy of the lungs, induced by tight lacing. Miss Toms, it appears, was in the habit of lacing her corsets so tight as to prevent a proper circulation of blood and air through the lungs and other organs. This pernicious habit rendered her subject to congestion of the brain and eventually resulted in her sudden death.�N.Y.World, Jan. 11

Kutztown, Pa. (AP)--Carmello Torres, 20, of Bethlehem, was killed Thursday in a three-vehicle collision on Route 222 north of Kutztown. Three other persons were injured.

Toth, Kalman

Kalman Toth, 68, of Topton, was killed instantly at 10 a.m. Sunday when he walked into the path of the Reading railroad's Queen of the Valley train at the Mertztown crossing. According to Homer Grim, who lives a half-block from the crossing, Toth seemed unaware of the approaching east-bound train and stepped onto the tracks as Grim shouted a warning. The victim was beheaded and the body mangled. The crossing is protected by a flashing signal. Deputy Coroner Roy Mabry of Mertztown viewed the body and ordered it taken to the Schofer funeral home, Topton. There will be no inquest. Toth was born in Hungary and came to this country 38 years ago. He lived for many years in and around Hellertown, and for the last seven years he conducted a shoe repair shop at Topton. The only known survivor is his widow, Julia, nee Kuracsina. The funeral will be held at the Schofer funeral home, 107 Main St., Topton, Tuesday 2 p.m. Burial will be made in Union cemetery, Hellertown.

Services were held for Elaine V. Tothero, 71, of Church Lane Road, Exeter Township, who died August 19 in ManorCare Health Services Inc., Muhlenberg Township, where she had resided for a week. She was the wife of Webster Tothero Jr. Born in Reading, she was a member of Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, Oley. She is also survived by a daughter, Sharon E. (Tothero) Straub, Reading. Other survivors include a brother, Francis Moyer, Winter Springs, Fla.; and a sister, Arlene (Moyer) Yoder, Oley. There are also four grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son. Burial was in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton. The Christ & Catagnus Funeral Home Inc., Oley, handled the arrangements.

Albert C. Trankle, 66, of Rockland Drive, Orwigsburg, died Saturday at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center. Born in Philadelphia, May 7, 1935, he was a son of the late Albert C. and Kathryn N. Hemingway Trankle. He served in the Army during peace time. He was a truck driver for Hamburg Broom Works, Hamburg. He was a member of Hamburg American Legion Post. Surviving are his wife, the former Marie Szymanski, to whom he was marred 41 years; a son, Albert S., Pottsville; two daughters, Kathy A. Schaffer, Auburn, and Rosemarie Rothermel, Schuylkill Haven; a sister, Ruth Larimer, Schuylkill Haven; six grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from Hamilton Funeral Home Inc., Orwigsburg. Interment will be in Zion's Lutheran Cemetery, Windsor Township, Berks County.

Pauline (Skladany), widow of John Tranovich, died yesterday in her home, 335 Minor St. She was a member of SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church and its Rosary and Alter Societies; Slovak Home Association and Grove No. 143, Woodmen's Circle.

Surviving are ten children: Paul, George, Andrew, Mary, wife of Fred Snook, Margaret, wife of Joseph Ziemba, all of Reading; John and Julia, at home; Helen, wife of Michael Hartz, and Stephen, both of Kenhorst, Pauline, wife of John Melton, of Central Islip, Long Island, N.Y. 14 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers, Matthew and George, both of Cleveland, O, and two sisters, Mrs Susan Kandrack, of Cleveland, O, and Mary, wife of John Masko, of Yonkers, N.Y. Funeral Thursday at 8:15 a.m. in the Gall Funeral Home, Solemn Requiem High Mass at 9a.m. in SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church.

Trapp, Jr., George A.

George A. Trapp, Jr. , 71, of Coopersburg, died December 6 at St.Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. He was the husband of Betty (Muthard) Trapp. He was born in Fountain Hill, PA to the late George A. and Sarah (Bartholomew) Trapp, Sr. Prior to retiring in 1983 he was employed by Mack Trucks, in Allentown for 28 years. He was an Army veteran during the Korean War. He was a member of Salem Mennonite Church, Quakertown. In addition to his wife he is survived by daughters, Susan Hillegas, of Allentown, Carol Hackman, of Coopersburg, Darlene Kempf of Sellersville, Debra McGonigal, of Quakertown and Gail DeHelian, of East Greenville; brothers, Lester, of Allentown, Joseph, of Quakertown and Henry, of Hellertown; sisters, Catherine Kuhns, of Allentown, Dorothy Vito, of Florida and Nora Miller, of Freemansburg and 10 grandchildren. Services were held Tuesday, Dec. 10th at the Falk Funeral Home, 163 Main St., Pennsburg, PA.

Trate, Harry Marvin

A memorial service will be held for Harry Marvin "Pete" Trate, 87, of Geigertown Road, Birdsboro, who died March 2 in Wyomissing Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Reading. He was the husband of Dorothy Edith (Filmore) Trate. Born in Narvon, Lancaster County, he worked as a chief tool engineer at the former Birdsboro Steel Co., retiring in 1979 after 44 years of service. He was a member of Calvary Evangelical Congregation Church, Birdsboro. Trate was also a member of the Hay Creek Valley Historical Association. He served on the fiscal board of Calvlary E.C. Church from 1956 to 1986, and also as board president, trustee, lay delegate and in other capacities. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Gerald A. Trate of Reading and Thomas V. Trate of Birdsboro; one daughter, Linda L. Baum of Sinking Spring. Also a sister, Dorothy Kratz of Union Township; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Contributions may be made to the American Parkinson's Disease Association, Crozer-Chester Medical Center, One Medical Center Blvd., Upland, PA 19013, 3995. A memorial service will be held on March 13 at 11 a.m. in Calvary E.C. Church, 144 S. Walnut St., Birdsboro. The Rev. William W. Hughes and the Rev. Timothy J. Wolcott will officiate. Burial will be in Centre Church Union Cemetery, East Earl Township, Lancaster County at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing. In Reading Hospital, on the 19th inst., James, husband of Edna (Greaves) Trate, aged 58 years 1 month and 25 days. Trauger, Anna E. (nee DeLong)

Mrs. Anna E. (DeLong) Trauger, wife of Charles F. Trauger of 623 N. Lumber St., Allentown, died yesterday at her home. She was 73. Born in Longswamp, she was a daughter of the late Jonas W. and Martha (Wessner) DeLong. She had been ill since Thanksgiving Day. She was of the United Church of Christ faith. Besides her husband, she is survived by a brother, Wilson DeLong, Hecktown, and two sisters, Hilda, wife of Earl Seip, Hecktown, and Eva, wife of Frederick Schreck of Bethlehem. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Trexler Funeral Home, 1625 Highland St., Allentown. Call 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Treichler, Abraham

Abraham Treichler, an aged and esteemed resident of Berks county, died Saturday afternoon at his home at Farmington, Berks county. He was 88 years, 5 months and 3 days of age. He was a son of the late David and Elizabeth, nee Reitnauer, Treichler. Mr. Treichler's wife Mary, nee Foulke, Treichler, preceded him in death seventeen years ago. Surviving are three sons and two daughters, Wilson, Fogelsville; John and Kate, at home; Charles, Ashfield, and Mrs. Assaby Chappell, Ashfield. A sister, Mrs. Kate Clemmer, Palm, and thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren also survive. Mr. Treichler was a member of Camp 172, P.O.S. of A., Topton. The funeral will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. at his late home in Farmington, followed by continued services in Ziegel's church, of which he was a member of the Lutheran wing. Interment in the cemetery adjoining the church. Rev. Keller will officiate.

Treichler, Anna M.

Services were held for Anna M. Treichler, 82, of Chestnut Street, Upper Milford Township, Lehigh County, who died August 8 in Lehigh Valley Hospice Center, Allentown. Her husband, Stanley H. Treichler, died in 1987. Born in Zionsville, Lehigh County, she was a member of New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ, East Greenville, Montgomery County. She is survived by a daughter, Janice L. (Treichler) Hartman, Bechtelsville, and six sons,: Jeremiah L., Macungie, Lehigh County; Jeffrey L., Bally; Jerome L. and Joel L., both of Zionsville; and James L. and Jason L., both of Barto. Other survivors include two sister; three brothers; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by two sons. Burial was in New Goshenhoppen Cemetery, Upper Hanover Township, Montgomery County. The Morrell Funeral Home Inc., Boyertown, was in charge of the arrangements.

Treichler, Asher J.

Services were held in St. Johns Lutheran Church, Kutztown, for Asher J. Treichler, who died June 6 in his Long Lane Road, Greenwich Township residence. Burial was in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown. He was the husband of Eva R. (Schlegel) Treichler. Born in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late William J. and Christiana (Jacob) Treichler. Until retiring in 1975, he was employed as a crane operator at the Kutztown Foundry for 48 years. He was a 50-year member of the Virginville Grange and served on the board of the Fereinicht Deitch Fulk in Lehigh County. Treichler was a member of St. Johns Church. Also surviving are three sons: Feryl J. Treichler and Lamar L. Treichler, both of Kutztown, and Larry D. Treichler, Mertztown. There are also four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, was in charge of arrangements.

Treichler, Clyde H.

Clyde H. Treichler, 10-year-old son of Newton E. and Mabel S. Treichler of Barto, died yesterday at 7:25 a.m. at the Allentown hospital from injuries received when he was struck by an automobile shortly after alighting from a bus Sunday morning near the Hereford Mennonite church, Bally. The boy succumbed to a fractured skull. According to Private G. C. Doll of the West Reading barracks of the State Motor police, who investigated, Treichler was struck by an automobile operated by Irvin Tomlinson, 315 New St., West Chester. The boy is said to have been standing at the rear of the bus from which he had alighted and then darted into the highway. The lad was returning to his home after attending Sunday school at the Hereford church of which he was a faithful member. Following the mishap, he was removed to the Allentown hospital. In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sisters: Kathryn Longacre, barto, and Sadie and Virginia, at home. Funeral services will be held at the home of his parents on Saturday at 1:30 p.m., with further services at the Hereford Mennonite church, Bally, at 2 p.m. Interment will be made in the Huffs church cemetery.

Treichler, Cora E. (nee Hallman)

Mrs. Cora E. Treichler, wife of Harry Treichler, of Hereford, died at 20 minutes to 10 o'clock Sunday night at the home of her sister, Mrs. Fred H. McDonald, No. 209 North tenth street, of inflammation of the bowels, aged thirty-eight years. She had been in ill health for some time and about three weeks ago came to Allentown and made her home with her sister while receiving treatment. For the past week she declined gradually. Mrs. Treichler was born in Lower Milford and was the daughter of Jacob and Diana Hallman. She is survived by her husband, two sisters, Mrs. McDonald and Mrs. Victor Scherer, the latter of Hereford. Mrs. Treichler was a member of the Zionsville Reformed congregation and Degree of Naomi of the Knights of the Mystic Chain, of Alburtis. Undertaker Wonderly removed the body to the home at Hereford.

Treichler, Harry S.

Harry S. Treichler, 67-year-old Hereford farmer and businessman, died at 2:32 a.m. yesterday in the Allentown hospital of injuries received in an accident last Saturday morning at the intersection of Routes 222 and 29 at Dorneyville. Trexlertown State police said last night a charge of involuntary manslaughter was placed against Verdie Kerschner, Macungie, before Justice of the Peace Clarence Schneck, South Whitehall township. Kerschner was the driver of the other car involved in the accident. He was uninjured. Mr. Treichler, a native of Hereford township, Berks county, was a son of the late David G. and Marie (nee) Schantz Treichler. He was engaged in the lumber business for many years and also operated a farm. As a businessman, he was a director of the Macungie bank and was one of the organizers of the Security bank of Emaus, now merged with the Emaus National bank. His wife, Stella Faust Treichler, aged 44, is a patient in the Allentown hospital with injuries received in the Saturday accident. Besides his wife, he leaves two brothers, Newton of Barto and Jeremiah of Hereford. Three sisters also survive. They are: Mrs. Edwin Keck, East Greenville, Mrs. Eugene Graber, Palm; and Mrs. Louis Schultz, New Berlinsville. Three brothers, David, Robert and Frederick preceded him in death. His first wife, the former Cora Hallman, died 33 years ago.

Treichler, Jacob L.

Funeral services were held for Jacob L. "Jake" Treichler, 50, of Route 100, Barto, who died April 4 at Lehigh Valley Medical Center after being struck by a vehicle in front of his home. Born in Zionsville, he was a son of Anna M. (Lagler) Treichler of Zionsville and the late Stanley H. Treichler. He was the owner and operator of Jake's Flea Market on Route 100 for 23 years. Before founding Jake's, he was employed at the former Pillsbury Co. of East Greenville for 18 years. He was a member of the New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ in East Greenville. He was also a member of the Pikeville Sportsman's Club. Surviving with his mother are a sister, Janice L. Hartman of Bechtelsville; and six brothers, Jeremiah L. Treichler of Seasholtzville; Jeffrey L. Treichler of Bally, Jerome L. Treichler of Zionsville, Joel L. Treichler of Zionsville, James L. Treichler of Barto and Jason L. Treichler of Barto. Along with his father he was preceded in death by a brother. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Robert Moses, Treasurer, National Penn Bank, 1830 E. High St., Pottstown, PA; or the American Heart Association, 625 W. Ridge Pike, Bldg. A, Suite 100, P.O. Box 382, Conshohocken, PA 19428. Treichler, Jeremiah S.

Jeremiah S. Treichler of Hereford died yesterday at his home. He was 66. Born in Hereford Township, he was a son of the late David G. and Maria R. Schantz Treichler. A miller most of his life, he was a member of New Goshenhoppen UCC of East Greenville. Surviving, besides his wife Bertha May Schlicher Treichler, are three daughters, Dorothy, wife of Ernest Marks of East Greenville; Lucetta, wife of Kenneth Reigner of Niantic, and Magdalena, wife of Ralph Focht, at home; a son Stanley of Zionsville R. 1; 18 grandchildren; and two sisters, Sallie, wife of Edwin Keck of East Greenville, and Minnie, wife of Lewis Schultz of New Berlinville. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the New Goshenhoppen UCC of East Greenville. Viewing will be after 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Hunsberger Funeral Home, 163 Main St., Pennsburg.

John A. Treichler died Thursday at 9 a.m. at his home, Maxatawny township, Berks county, aged 57 years. He was born in Upper Macungie township, Berks county, aged 57 and Mary (Folk) Treichler. He was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Ziegel's church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Kutztown; the Odd Fellows lodge at Macungie, and the Red Men of Alburtis. Surviving are a sister, Kate Treichler, with whom he resided, and two brothers, Wilson Treichler of Fogelsville and Charles Treichler of Walnutport. The funeral will be held from the Schofer funeral home, 107 Main St., Topton, Tuesday at 2 p.m. Regular services will follow in Ziegel's church, and burial will be made in the adjoining cemetery. The Rev. Robert A. Laubach will officiate.

Mrs. Maria Treichler, nee Schantz, widow of David G. Treichler, died from a stroke of paralysis. She was fifty-six years of age. The funeral will be held on Monday from her late residence at Hereford. She is survived by the following children: David W., of Zionsville; Harry S., of Hereford; Frederick, of Albrightsville, Carbon County; Mrs. Edwin Keck and Mrs. Eugene Graber, of East Greenville; Newton, of Hereford, and Jeremiah and Minnie who resided at home.

Treichler, Newton E.

Newton E. Treichler, 65, the first Ford dealer in Berks County, died yesterday at his home in Barto. He was in failing health the last two years. Many years ago, Treichler established his Ford agency in a garage at Hereford. He had the agency for five years. Later, he owned and operated a barrel stave mill in the area. He bought woodland and ran his mill on the tract until all the timber was used. Then, he moved on to another site. For 16 years, he conducted a coal and feed business in Barto. During that time, he also developed an extensive peach and apple orchard near Landis Store. This was sold last March. Treichler retired about two years ago. A native of Hereford Township, Berks County, he was a son of the late David and Maria (Schantz) Treichler. He was married to the former Mabel Hartline. He was a member of New Goshenhoppen Evangelical and Reformed church, East Greenville; Huguenot Lodge 377, F. & A. M., Kutztown; Reading Consistory; Good Fellowship, Pottstown; Landisville Council, Landis Store; Perkiomen Camp 486, Woodmen of the World, Pennsburg; Pike Township Sportsmen's Assn.; Keystone Fire Co., Bechtelsville; Liberty Fire Co., New Berlinsville, and Goodwill Fire Co., Bally. Surviving besides his wife are three daughters, Kathryn, wife of Daniel E. Longacre, bally; Sadie, wife of Frederick H. Bittenbender, Bechtelsville, and Virginia, at home; two sisters, Sallie, wife of Edwin G. Keck, East Greenville, and Minnie, wife of Lewis Schultz, New Berlinville; a brother, Jeremiah S., Hereford, and five grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Huffs Union Church, Huffs Church.

Treskot, Charles

Services were held in Leibensperger Funeral Homes Inc., Hamburg, for Charles Treskot of North Fourth Street, Hamburg, who died March 10 in Reading Hospital, where he was a patient six days. Burial was private. He was the husband of Dorothy A. (Mahler) Treskot. Born in Palmerton, Carbon County, he was a son of the late Paul and Mary (Roskvas) Treskot. He was a graduate of Palmerton High School. Until his retirement, he was employed at the Coca-Cola plant in Hamburg for 20 years. He was a life member of the 540 Democratic Association, Bethlehem. Treskot was an Army veteran of World War II and received a Bronze Star and two Purple Heart medals. Surviving are two sons, Charles R., Palmerton, and Thomas G., Schnecksville, Lehigh County; and a daughter, Patricia A. (Treskot) Trabosh, Kutztown. There are seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mary (Treskot) Sangle and Stella (Treskot) Fabian, both of Palmerton.

Trethewey, Belinda S. (nee Brown)

Belinda S. (nee Brown), widow of Samuel Trethewey, aged 71 years, 2 months and 7 days, died on Tuesday at the home of her son-in-law Jacob Bucher, 229 South Reading Avenue, following an illness of several months. Deceased was well-known as a milliner, which business she followed for 25 years. She had retired from that work for the last few years. Her husband died several months ago. She leaves three children: Samuel, William and Joseph, this borough; Mary, wife of Henry Gottshall; Fannie, wife of James Custer; Lucy, wife of Jacob H. Bucher; Bessie, wife of Benjamin Katterman, all of Boyertown; two brothers, Horace, Brooklyn, NY; Joshua, Bethlehem. Funeral Sunday, August 8, from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jacob H. Bucher, at 1:30 p.m. Services and Interment at Fairview Cemetery. Undertaker James G. Brumbach has charge.

Trethewey, Joseph

Joseph Trethewey Dies At North Wales, PA. Joseph Trethewey died of complications at his home in North Wales, Montgomery County, aged about 65 years. He was a former resident of this place and while here he was engaged in the mining of iron ore. Deceased was a brother of the late Samuel Trethewey who died here several years ago. The follow survive: His widow, Ella (nee Jackson); a married daughter, Laura; brothers, James and John, Scranton and sister Mrs. Ellen Brown of Pottstown. Funeral Saturday, December 24, at 10:30 a.m. in the Fairview Chapel, this place. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, of town.

Trethewey, Joseph H.

J.H. Trethewey, 49 Pneumonia Victim. Former Automobile Dealer Expires After Illness of Three Days

A chill early Monday morning, while in bed, which later developed into pneumonia, caused the death of Joseph H. Trethewey, at his residence, 15 Fairview Street. He was aged 49 years, 7 months and 14 days.

For 12 years Mr. Trethewey was the Boyertown distributor and agent for the Buick automobile. He sold the business to the present owners, Langner and Trout, in May 1923. Since that time he had been employed in the metal department of the Boyertown Burial Casket Company. Prior to his entering the auto business Mr. Trethewey conducted a gas fitting and plumbing establishment. Before that he was a cigar maker.

Deceased was born Dec. 20, 1880 at Vera Cruz [Lehigh County], the son of the late Samuel and Malinda, nee Brown, Trethewey. Besides the widow, Bertie, nee Miller, one son, Rae at home, survives.

The following brothers and sisters survive: Mary A., wife of Henry Gottshall, Boyertown; Fannie, wife of James Custer, Boyertown; Bessie, wife of Benjamin Karterman, Worman; William and Samuel.

Mr. Trethewey was a member of the Keystone Fire company, Boyertown, of which he was the engineer for a number of years; Pottstown Lodge No. 369, Loyal Order of Moose; Camp 104, Patriotic Order Sons of America, and Boyertown Nest, No. 22, Fraternal Order of Orioles.

The funeral will be on Sunday afternoon, at 1:30 o'clock, with private services at the house. Public services in Fairview chapel, following. Interment will be made in Fairview Cemetery.

Trethewey, Joseph H.

J.H. Trethewey Laid to Rest in Fairview

The funeral of Joseph H. Trethewey, who died suddenly last Wednesday evening from pneumonia, was held from his late home, 15 Fairview Street. Brief services at the house were followed by services in Fairview Chapel.

The many friends, members of various organizations of which he was a member, filled the chapel to more than seating capacity and many were obliged to stand.

C. E. Wise, vice president of the International Bible Students of America, of Brooklyn, NY officiated at the services and delivered the burial sermon.

The bearers were fellow workers in the metal department of the Boyertown Burial Casket Company; Albert Heffner, Oscar Rothenberger, Allen Hartman; Samuel Weiss, Edwin Reitnauer and Edgar Fronheiser.

Trethewey, Marion (nee Johnson)

Mrs. Marion (Johnson) Trethewey, aged 64 years, widow of William G. Trethewey, died in her home, 36 South Reading Avenue, Boyertown.

She was a daughter of the late Ephriam and Ellen (Leaver) Johnson and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and Laurel Rebekah lodge.

Surviving are a daughter, Marian, wife of Frederick Becker, Mt. Penn; a son William G. Trethewey, at home; two brothers and a sister, Leroy Johnson, Reading' Mrs. Annie Henry, New Berlinville, and Herbert Johnson, this borough.

Mrs. Trethewey was one of the few seriously burned in the Rhoads' Opera House fire January 13, 1908, who survived her injuries.

Services will be held from the L. W. Ott Funeral Home on Warwick Street, Sunday at 1 o'clock. Rev. David F. Longacre, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church will officiate. Interment in Fairview Cemetery.

Trethewey, Paul R.

Paul R. Trethewey, a Reading agent for a Philadelphia newspaper, was found dead on Monday, the result of inhaling illuminating gas from a gas stove. According to Coroner Schmehl, who investigated, his death, was accidental. Trethewey, who was aged 20 years and a youth of exceptional stature, retired at his usual hour Sunday evening at his home, 960 North Eleventh Street, Reading. Prior to retiring he gathered furniture and packed his personal effects ready to move early this week. Shortly before retiring he turned off the gas in the stove, but was unaware of the fact that the valve was not entirely closed.

Trethewey occupied a room on the second floor of the North Eleventh Street home, while a friend had a room on the floor above. The man on the upper floor, before going to work this morning, passed Tretheweys room and detecting the fumes and noticing the door partly opened, entered and found Tretheweys lifeless body on the bed in night attire. For some years he was a familiar figure on Penn Street, directing the sale of Philadelphia newspapers.

Trethewey was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard Trethewey. Richard Trethewey, his father, a native of Tennessee and pensioned representative of the metropolitan Insurance Co., died at the North Eleventh Street address June 21 of this year. His mother, Addie (nee Conner) Trethewey, died two years ago. She was a native of Boyertown and a daughter of Willoughby Conner.

The remains were brought to Boyertown for burial this (Friday) morning and interred in Fairview Cemetery. Services were conducted in Fairview Chapel.

Trethewey, Richard

Former Boyertown Man Dies in Reading. Richard Trethewey, a pensioned representative of the Metropolitan Insurance Company, died of a complication of ailments at 7:50 p.m. Monday at his home in Reading. Mr. Trethewey, who was in his 66th year, had been in failing health for six months and was bedfast 10 days. Deceased was born January 19, 1855, in Chattanooga, TN. He spent his earlier years in Maryland, where he attended school. When a young man he took up zinc mining, which he followed eight years. Later he located at Boyertown; where he was employed in the ore mines for nine years, when he left for Butte, Montana, where he mined gold and silver.

Trethewey, Richard

The will of Richard Trethewey, late of Reading, was filed for probate and letters granted to the Pennsylvania Trust Co., executor. The estate is valued at $1,000 in personal property and $5,000 in real estate, a dwelling, 960 North Eleventh Street. He gives $200 to each of the following children: William John Trethewey and Jennie May Wilson. The remainder of his estate he gives to his son Paul R. Trethewey.

Trethewey, Samuel

Samuel Trethewey received a telegram Tuesday evening from Friedensville, Lehigh County, announcing the death of his father, Samuel Trethewey, aged 82 years. The following children survive: Samuel and Mrs. Thomas Brown of this place; Richard of Reading; James and John of Scranton. Deceased's wife died many years ago.

There were four generations of the same name descendants of the above deceased. The youngest of these is now 14 years old. He is the son of Samuel Trethewey, on Third Street, this borough. Several years ago the four had a group photograph taken, and a striking resemblance is shown in their features.

Trethewey, Samuel A.

Samuel A. Trethewey, proprietor of the Rexall Drug Store, South Reading Avenue, died at his family residence on East Philadelphia Avenue, Tuesday evening following three weeks illness with typhoid fever. He was aged 27 years, 9 months and 27 days.

Deceased was a highly esteemed and popular young man and he will be greatly missed by the entire community. The sympathy of all who knew him is extended to his young widow and children.

He was a graduate of the Boyertown High School and the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. About seven years ago he purchased the drug establishment from Alva G. Greaves and since has rapidly prospered in the drug business. He was a member of Stitchter Lodge, No. 254, F. and A. M., of Pottstown; Pottstown Chapter No. 271, A. A. M., Pottstown; Nativity Commandery, No. 71; Rajah Temple A. A. O. M. M. S. of Reading; Spring City Forest No. 34 Tall Cedars of Lebanon of Spring City; Boyertown Nest No. 22 Fraternal Order of Orioles and the University Club of Boyertown.

His widow, Helen (nee Hatfield) and two children Bernice and Willard survive, besides his parents. Samuel and Ellen (nee Ochsenford) Tretheway and the following brothers and sisters: Pearl, wife of Walter G. Houck, Boyertown; Byron, Boyertown; Robert, Byrlyn and Arline at home.

The funeral will be held from his late home this Saturday afternoon, at 1:30 o'clock, privately at the house services will be conducted in the Good Shepherd Reformed Church, by Rev. G. G. Greenawald, pastor. Interment Fairview Cemetery. Undertaker James J. Brumbach has charge.

Trethewey, Samuel A.

Masonic Funeral for S.A. Trethewey

Impressive were the services conducted over the remains of Druggist Samuel A. Trethewey, one of Boyertown's progressive young businessmen who was laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery last Saturday afternoon.

After a brief service at the house, 528 East Philadelphia Avenue, the cortege proceeded to the Good Shepherd Reformed Church, where Rev. George G. Greenawald, pastor of the Reformed congregation, and Rev. John Flint, of Spring City, Reformed pastor of the Ebenezer Methodist Church, of town delivered addresses.

Rev. Fling read from his Scripture lesson the 9th Psalm, Rev. Greenawald then delivered the sermon, using for his text Matt. 11:28, "Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." This was followed by remarks by Rev. Flint, who based his theme on the words found in St. John 11:28, "The Master is come, and calleth for thee."

The members of the Reformed choir sang, "God Will Take Care of You" and "Jesus Is Calling for You and Me".

There were in attendance 60 members of the Masonic order, a delegation of 25 members from the University Club and a representative body of Boyertown Nest No. 22, Fraternal Order of Orioles. The bearers were selected from the Masonic body and comprised Lesher Francis, Dr. Al. Schmoyer, Albert B. Leidy, John Z. Harner, Harry Trout and Warren Eshbach.

The Mason's lodge took charge of the services at the grave, Philip Sotter, chaplain, and David Todd Jones, worshipful master, having charge of the ceremonies.

Trethewey, William G.

Funeral services for William G. Trethewey, 59, will be held tomorrow afternoon from his residence, 36 South Reading Avenue. Interment will be made in Fairview Cemetery. Funeral Directors Herbert R. Houck & Son, of Pottstown, have charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Trethewey died in the Wernersville Hospital on Tuesday afternoon. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Marion Trethewey; two children, Marion, wife of Fred J. Becker, of Mt. Penn, and William G. Trethewey, Jr., at home; three sisters, Mary Ella, wife of Henry Goddshall, Fanny, wife of James Custer, both of Boyertown, and Bessie, wife of Benjamin Katerman, of Reading, and a brother, Samuel, of Boyertown.

Trexler, Alonzo

Alonzo Trexler, of near Shamrock, died suddenly of some heart affection on Tuesday evening. He had been ailing from a complication of diseases for some years. Death came over him while about to walk to one of his late father's farms and while resting at a corncrib. Deceased was about 61 years old. He was a son of the late Col. William Trexler. His mother, who was a daughter of the late John Singmaster, of Macungie, died while he was still young. He was engaged in farming and stock raising in Huntingdon county for many years. About three years ago, during the illness of his aged father, he came back to the homestead and attended to him. He remained there since. He was never married. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Harry Maltzberger, of Reading, and two brothers, Alvin, of Shamrock, and John L. S., of Macungie. At this time we have no particulars of the funeral arrangements, but interment will no doubt be made on the family plot in Fairview cemetery, Macungie.

Trexler, Alvin

Alvin Trexler, a well-known business man of Longswamp township, died at the homestead of the late Col. Wm. Trexler, of diabetes, aged 56 years and 6 days. He lived for many years in the village of Shamrock, where for over 25 years he conducted a coal and lumber yard. He was a son of the late Col. Wm. Trexler and wife, Mary Ann (nee Singmaster), and was born December 29, 1853, in Longswamp township. He was a life-long member of the Lutheran church, first of the Longswamp congregation, but later for many years of St. Paul's Lutheran congregation of Mertztown, of which Rev. F. K. Bernd, of Kutztown, president of the Reading conference, is the pastor. Deceased was married to Miss Caroline Deisher, who, with her only son, Claude, of Philadelphia, survive. He is also survived by one brother, John S., of Macungie, and one sister, Mrs. Annie Maltzberger, of Reading, and one granddaughter. Interment was made at Longswamp church on Tuesday.

Trexler, Alvin G.

Alvin G. Trexler, a resident of Hancock for many years, passed away at the residence of his grandson, Harry Trexler, at Topton, aged 83 years. He was a son of the late John and Maria (Geist) Trexler and was a member of the Lutheran wing of St. Paul's church, Mertztown. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mary Trexler, Topton; a grandson, Harry of Topton, and a granddaughter, Mrs. Martin Adams of Allentown. Ten great-grandchildren also survive. His wife, Carolina, nee Frederick, preceded him in death several years ago. Rev. W. S. Dry will officiate at funeral services to be held at the funeral home of J. J. Schofer and Son, 107 Main St., Topton, on Modnay at 1.30 p.m. Interment in St. Paul's cemetery, Mertztown.

Trexler, Amelia

Last Saturday night Amelia, wife of Col. Wm. Trexler, of Longswamp, died after having suffered severely for several weeks from the grip and pneumonia. Mrs. Trexler was well known in these parts. She was daughter of the late David Schall, of Dale, an Associate Judge of Berks county from 1856 to 1866. The funeral will take place today (Thursday) from the home near Shamrock. Burial will be made on St. Matthew's church cemetery, of this place, where Mr. Trexler has a family plot. The former wife of Mr. Trexler is buried here. She was a daughter of the late John Singmaster.

Trexler, Amelia (nee Schall)

Mrs. Amelia, wife of Col. William Trexler, of Longswamp township, died on Saturday night, of grip pneumonia. She was a daughter of the late David Schall, of Forge Dale, Berks county, who was an Associate Judge of Berks county from 1856 to 1866. Deceased was sixty years of age. The funeral will take place to-morrow, Thursday, at 10 A.M., from the home near Shamrock. Interment will be made at Macungie.

Trexler, Amelia F. (nee Long)

Mrs. Amelia F. Trexler, widow of the late John L. Trexler, died Sunday evening at her home, 222 N. 10th St., at the age of 74. Born in Longswamp township, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Manoah and Marietta, nee Schwartz, Long. She was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Mertztown. Mrs. Trexler is survived by one daughter, Mary, wife of Charles Rothermel, Allentown, two sisters, Mrs. Sallie Eisenhard, Allentown, and Mrs. Agnes Kline, Emmaus, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. All funeral services will be held at the Mertztown church on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock with interment in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Luther F. Schlenker of Kutztown will officiate.

Trexler, Amos

Amos Trexler, one of the pioneers of the slate industry in northern Berks and Lehigh counties, died at his home in Albany tsp., on Saturday, in his 85th year. Mr. Trexler started prospecting for slate in that region nearly sixty years ago. He was a farmer and tanner, and the father of Nathan D. Trexler, merchant, and of A. D. Trexler, postmaster at Trexler's Station.

Trexler, Amos

Amos Trexler, on[e] of the pioneers of the slate industry in northern Berks and Lehigh Counties, Penn., died at his home in Albany, Penn., yesterday in his eighty-fifth year. Mr. Trexler prospected for slate in that region nearly sixty years ago.

STONY RUN. Jan. 1. � A child of Amos Trexler, of Trexler's Station, was interred in the Jacob's cemetery, Jacksonville. Rev. Henry Fegeley officiated.

Trexler, Caroline E.

Mrs. Caroline E. Trexler, 71 years, 2 months and 19 days old, died of complications at 7.30 p.m. Thursday in the Allentown hospital. She was the widow of Alvin S. Trexler, and had been a resident of Longswamp township for many years.

She had been in good health until June of this year, when she began to fail. Her condition became serious eight weeks ago, and she was taken to the Allentown hospital for treatment upon the advice of the family physician.

She was born in Lower Macungie township, a daughter of the late William Deisher and his wife, Sara (nee Butz). She had spent nearly all of her life in this section, and was esteemed by a host of acquaintances and friends.

Her husband preceded her in death nineteen years ago. She is survived by a son, Claude D., at home, by two granddaughters, by two brothers, Reuben S., of Longswamp, and Peter A., of Allentown; by two sisters, Mrs. Edwin DeLong, of Bowers, Berks county, and Mrs. Almond Schmeyer, of Allentown.

She had been a faithful member of the Lutheran wing of the Longswamp church, and was a member of the home department of the Sunday school.

Funeral services will be held from the late home in Longswamp at 10 a.m. Tuesday with continued services in the Longswamp church. Burial will be made in the adjoining cemetery. Revs. William Bond and William Meckstroth will officiate.

Trexler, Catherine (nee Merkel)

Mrs. Catherine M. Trexler, wife of Clayton H. Trexler, died yesterday at her late home, the residence of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Deisher, 20 E. Smith St., Topton, after a brief illness. she was in her 80th year. Born in Longswamp township, Berks county, Mrs. Trexler was a daughter of the late John and Sallie, nee Folk, Merkel. She was a member of the Lutheran congregation of the Maxatawny church and of the Home department of the Sunday school. Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Adda, wife of John Gorr, Mertztown R. 1, and Edna, wife of Walter Deisher, and six grandchildren. Rev. Luther Schlenker will officiate at services at the DeLong funeral home, Topton, Tuesday at 2 p.m. Interment in the Maxatawny cemetery. Friends may call Monday 7 to 9 p.m.

Trexler, Charles D.

At Topton on Saturday at 6.20 a.m., Charles D. Trexler, a prominent citizen of that place, passed away, having attained the venerable age of 75 years and 2 months. Death was due to a muscular disease of the heart. The deceased was the son of Daniel and Anna, nee Deibrich, Trexler, and was born September 27th, 1846, in Greenwich Township. He is survived by his widow Catherine, nee Haas, and the following four children, Morris D., associated in business under the name of C. D. Trexler & Son; Jennie C., wife of Harvey A. Miller; Katie E., wife of Dr. H. W. Saul, Kutztown; and C. Harold, assistant cashier at the National Bank of Topton. Seven grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Mary Ann Fister, also survive. The deceased was actively concerned in a great many of the civic improvements of Topton, having been president of the National Bank of Topton, and director of the Farmers' Union Mutual Fire Insurance Co. He aided considerably in establishing the Orphans' Home, and was one of the originators of the Topton Iron Co., now the Empire Steel and Iron Co. He was organizer and treasurer of St. Peter's Union Church, and took an active part in the building of Trinity Lutheran church, of which he was a member. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec 2nd, at 10.00 a.m. Services will be held at the house and in Trinity Lutheran church. The Revs. J. O. Henry and W. H. Kline will officiate. Interment will be made in Union Cemetery, at Topton.

Trexler, Charles P.

The unexpected death of Charles P. Trexler, proprietor of the Keystone Hotel, Alburtis, which occurred at 3 o'clock on Monday morning, was quite unexpected and came as a shock to all who knew him. While he had not been feeling well for some time past, he was up and about. He had attended church service on Sunday but appeared somewhat sick later on. Death was due to apoplexy. Deceased was a son of Alfred Trexler, of Shamrock, who survives him. He was born in Longswamp township 36 years ago and after attending school learned the tinsmithing trade. For about eight years past he has conducted the hotel which was formerly in charge of his father-in-law, G. F. Schlicher. He also conducted the tinsmithing business in connection. His wife, one daughter, Edna, and several brothers and a sister also survive. Deceased was well known and popular. Quiet, pleasant and sociable, his early demise is generally regretted. He was a member of the Trexlertown Lodge of Free Masons, Friendly Lodge, No. 85, the I.O.O.F. Encampment, the Jr. O.U.A.M., Alburtis Castle, K.G.E., and P.O.S.A., of Alburtis. The funeral will be held tomorrow, Friday, forenoon, with services and burial at Lehigh Church.

Trexler, Clara (nee Yoder)

Mrs. Clara (Yoder) Trexler, 80, who with her husband Jerome, operated a general store in Topton adjacent to their 4 N. Home Ave. residence for more than 50 years, died yesterday. Born in Fleetwood, she was a daughter of the late George B. and Katie (Delp) Yoder. Mrs. Trexler was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Topton, and affiliated with the Order of Eastern Star, Kutztown. Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Robert, Topton; two grandchildren, Annabelle, wife of George Goll, Pompano Beach, Fla., and Lee P., Topton, and five great-grandchildren.

Trexler, David S.

David S. Trexler, an aged and respected resident of Longswamp township, Berks county, died of complications at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning at his home near Shamrock, aged 81 years, 8 months and 15 days. Mr. Trexler had been in failing health for several years. His condition took a turn for the worse in Feb. and he was bedfast since. Mr. Trexler was born in Longswamp, a son of Jacob and Mary (Schmoyer) Trexler. Upon the completion of his studies in the township schools, he attended the Normal Institute at Carversville, Pa. When he returned from school, he learned the saddler's trade, which he followed for some years. From the saddlery business, Mr. Trexler went to grain, lumber and coal, opening plants at Mertztown, Shamrock and Kutztown. He later sold his interest in this business and for a while operated a lucrative tannery concern. Mr. Trexler moved many years ago to what is known at the Amos Weiler farm at Shamrock. He farmed for a time, but lived retired for the last twenty-five years. He was a member of Lehigh Lodge No. 326, F. and A. M., Allen Council of Allentown; Allentown Arch chapter No. 203, and Allen Commandery No. 20, Knights Templar. There survive his widow, Ella (Weiler), two sons and one daughter: Dr. Jacob A. Trexler, of Lehighton; Howard C. Trexler, this city; and Mrs. Nettie Trexler Sellers, a school teacher at Palmerton. A brother, J. Alfred Trexler, of Manheim, Lancaster county, also survives, together with six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Trexler, Mrs. Edward (nee Schwartz)

Mrs. Trexler, wife of Mr. Edward Trexler, of Mertztown, died on Tuesday of last week, after a long suffering under a pulmonary disease, at the age of 38 years and 8 months. She was a daughter of Mr. Levi Schwartz, residing near Mertztown, and highly esteemed by a large circle of friends and acquaintances, drawn around her by a long and intimate association. She was a lady, in the language of the immortal poet, Wordsworth, “whose home and its duties were dear to her heart,” of gentle and unaffected manners, and of amiable disposition. In her death a husband has lost a dutiful and loving companion, and he has the sympathy of the community around in his great bereavement.

Mrs. Elizabeth M. Trexler, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Eck, died on Saturday at No. 201 Railroad street, the home of her son-in-law, John M. Gutekunst, after a year's illness with a complication of diseases, aged 50 years. She was born in Maxatawny, Berks county, August 10, 1854. She leaves two daughters: Anna, wife of John Gutekunst, and Lottie, wife of Elmer Steltz, both of Allentown; a son, Lamar E., of this city; a grandchild, Maria; three brothers, William Eck, of Kutztown; Willoughby Eck, of Topton, and Lando, of Allentown. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church.

Trexler, Ella V. (nee Weiler)

Mrs. Ella V., widow of the late David Trexler of Longswamp, died yesterday at noon at the home of her son, Howard, 640 Gordon St. She was almost 87 years of age. Despite her advanced years, Mrs. Trexler was active until last Tuesday when she was stricken with a heart attack. This resulted in her death. She was born April 27, 1851, a daughter of the late Amos and Susan, nee Schantz, Weiler, in Longswamp, Berks county. She resided in this village practically all her life, living there in the Trexler homestead until the death of her husband 15 years ago, after which she alternated her home between the homestead and the residence of her children. She was of the Lutheran faith. Surviving are two sons, Dr. Jacob Trexler, Lehighton, and Howard, this city; one daughter, Mrs. Nettie Sellers, Palmerton, and six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Trexler homestead, near Longswamp church, Rev. W. F. Bond officiating. Interment in Longswamp cemetery.

Trexler, Emma (nee Diener)

Mrs. Emma Trexler, 89, wife of James L. Trexler, died Tuesday night at her home, 44 Franklin St., Topton. She had been in ill health for the past year. Mrs. Trexler was a sister of William Diener, of Allentown. Born in Longswamp township, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Carolina (Folk) Diener. She was a member of the Lutheran branch of St. Paul's church, Mertztown. Trexler, Emma (nee Meyner)

Emma, nee Meyner, wife of Edwin D. Trexler, formerly of 408 Windsor street, Reading, died in the Reading hospital Friday evening. She was aged 34 years and 8 months. She was the daughter of the late Oswald and Elizabeth, nee Umstetter, Meyner. Deceased is survived by six sisters and one brother: Ella, wife of Dr. N. B. Yoder, Reading; Louisa, wife of Fred DeLong, Topton; Anna, wife of Paul Faustnacht, Middletown, Pa.; Kate, wife of William Gingrich, New Brunswick, New Jersey; Mary, wife of Herman Maussman, Philadelphia; Lena, of Philadelphia, and Bernard Meyner, of Kitanning, Pa. A strictly private funeral will be held from the home of James L. Trexler, Franklin street, Topton, on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment to be made in Mertztown cemetery. The Reverends W. S. Dry and J. O. Henry officiating.

Trexler, Franklin N.

Franklin N. Trexler, prominent resident of Mertztown, died very suddenly at 6.30 o'clock last evening at his home. He was aged 55 years, 9 months and 19 days. Mr. Trexler was a son of the late Edwin H. and Eliza (nee Schwartz) Trexler, and is survived by the following brothers and sisters: James, of Topton; Jeremiah, of Mertztown; Oscar, of Allentown; Mrs. Milton Warmkessel, of this city; George, of Thurmont, Md. Mr. Trexler was a member of the Lutheran wing of St. Paul's church of Mertztown and for ten years chairman of the church council. He was the superintendent of the Sunday school at the time of his death. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral, with services at his late home in Mertztown on Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock, standard time, and burial in St. Paul's Church cemetery. Rev. W. S. Dray will officiate.

Trexler, H. Clayton

H. Clayton Trexler, 81, died early Thursday at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Deisher of E. Smith Street, Topton. Born in Maxatawny Township, son fo the late Benjamin and Lydia (Reider) Trexler, he was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Maxatawny Union Church and of the home department of its Sunday School. Trexler was a retired farmer. His wife, the late Mrs. Catherine (Merkel) Trexler, died in 1946. Survivors are two daughters, Edna, wife of Homer Deisher, and Mrs. Adda Gorr, Breinigsville; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A brother, Jeremiah Trexler, lives in Wescosville.

Trexler, Mrs. Henry

Mrs. Henry Trexler, of Hancock, died on Tuesday evening after an illness of over three weeks of typhoid fever, aged about 50 years. Her husband, two sons, John H. and Elmer N., and several sisters and brothers survive. Deceased was a member of the Reformed congregation of Mertztown Church. She was of a kind disposition and had many friends. Funeral Saturday forenoon, October 28, in Mertztown Church. Rev. M. H. Brensinger will officiate. Interment in Mertztown Church Cemetery. T. Trexler, Henry

At the home of his son, John Trexler, near Topton, Henry Trexler, aged 70 years, 9 months and 13 days, died on Sunday morning at 8.10 o'clock. Death was due to apoplexy. He is survived by his son John and the following brothers and sisters: Alvin, Hancock; Mrs. Caroline Miller, Hancock; Mrs. Elmira Heffner and Mrs. Emma wetzel, both of Macungie, and three grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death about twenty-two years ago and a son about five years ago. The funeral will be held from the residence of his son, John Trexler, about one mile from Topton, on Friday, February 11, at 9.30 a.m. Further services will be held in the Mertztown church, with Rev. F. K. Berndt officiating, and burial will be made in the adjoining cemetery. Undertaker Schofer is in charge.

Trexler, Henry A.

Henry A. Trexler, a former resident of Topton, died on Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at White Haven, following an illness of complications. He was in his 56th year.

He was a son of the late Jonas and Amanda, nee Fenstermacher, Trexler, and for many years was employed at the Mertztown rug mill. He was a member of the Long Swamp church, and was affiliated with Camp 172, P.O.S. of A., of Topton, and Lodge No. 1325, L.O.O.M., of Kutztown. He was a man of many excellent qualities, and his passing will be sincerely mounred by a wide circle of friends.

Besides his widow, Jennie, nee Eck, he is survived by a son, George Trexler, of 423 Maple street, Allentown, together with two grandchildren, also a sister, Mrs. Reuben Fretz, Mertztown, and two brothers, Fred, Topton, and Edwin Trexler, Warren, Ohio.

The funeral will be held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. standard time, with all services in the Long Swamp church. Rev. W. F. Bond will officiate. Interment will be made in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Trexler, Herbert C.

Herbert C. Trexler, prominent local businessman and civic leader, died yesterday afternoon in his home, 1 S. Whitehall Ave., Greenawalds, after a six-month illness. He was 69. Trexler had been secretary-treasurer of the Heilman Boiler Works, with which he had been associated for 29 years. For the past three years, he was secretary-treasurer of Lehigh Valley Steel Plate Fabricators Inc., successor to the Heilman firm. Trexler was an active member, and for many years served as secretary, of the consistory of Christ United Church of Christ, Greenawalds. He was a life member of the Greenawalds Community Fire Co. He was also a 32nd degree Mason of Lehigh Consistory, and affiliated with Greenleaf Lodge 561, F&AM, Lehigh Valley Club and the Livingston Club. Trexler was treasurer of the board of the Salvation Army, Allentown, and held a similar post with Pocono Plateau, Methodist Church summer camp. He was a director of Coopersburg Building & Loan Assn., and a member of the board of the Lehigh County Blind Assn. He also held membership in the Lehigh Valley Cost Accountants Assn., Coopersburg Fire Co. No. 1, and the POSA of Allentown. He is a former board member of Allentown Osteopathic Hospital. And headed the Allentown Lions Club in 1942-43. Born in Shamrock, Berks County, Trexler was a son of Mrs. Sarah C. (Hertzog) Trexler, Allentown, and the late Frank L. Trexler. Last November, he and his wife, the former Annie E. C. Worman, observed their golden wedding anniversary. Survivors are his wife, his mother, four children, Herbert J., Clausson, Mich.; Thelma, wife of Gen. Harry A. Markle Jr., Allentown; Charlotte, wife of J. Douglass Mertz, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Claudine, wife of Michael Falco, Greenawalds. There are seven brothers, Charles, Claude, Arthur, Harry, Richard, all of Allentown; Paul, Emmaus, and Ray, New York, and two sisters, Edna, wife of Kenneth Hauze, and Helen, wife of Robert Tauber, both of Allentown; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His father and son Howard preceded him in death. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Trexler Funeral Home, 1625 Highland St., Allentown.

Trexler, Herbert G.

Herbert G. Trexler, 65-year-old Alburtis farmer, died yesterday at home. Trexler, a son of the late Joel and Lucy (Moyer) Trexler, operated a farm in the Alburtis borough limits for a number of years. A native of Greenwich township, Berks county, he was a member of St. John's Lutheran church, Kutztown. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Sallie (Gaby) Trexler, and nine children: Warren E., Kutztown; Lloyd H., Topton; Howard J., Mertztown R. 1; Lester S. Macungie R. 1; Mamie L., wife of Paul Bitting, East Greenville; Wayne R., Mertztown; Paul D., Kutztown R. 1; and Leon H., Alburtis. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren; a brother, Ralph J. Trexler, of Kutztown; and a sister, Laura, wife of John W. DeTurk, Kutztown.

Trexler, Horatio

Horatio Trexler, one of the oldest iron masters and bankers in Eastern Pennsylvania, died at Reading on Monday, aged 87 years. He conducted for many years the Mary Ann Charcoal Furnace and two forges. When these ceased operations, he located in Reading, and associated himself with its business interests. For many years he was President of the National Union Bank and Reading Gas Company, and was interested in the Reading Iron Company. His wife died a month ago. Deceased was a brother of Col. Wm. Trexler, of Longswamp, and, consequently an uncle of John L. Trexler, of town.

Trexler, Horatio

Horatio Trexler, one of Reading's leading citizens and president of the National Union Bank, of that city, died of a complication of diseases, superinduced by the infirmities of old age, at 7:30 a.m. yesterday, in the 87th year of his age. He was in ill health for the past year and confined to bed since Thursday. Deceased was born in Longswamp on May 15, 1813, and was a son of Reuben and Mary Ann Trexler. He engaged in the mercantile business in 1830 and continued it until 1834, after which he became superintendent of his father's iron works, consisting of a charcoal furnace located in Longswamp township known as the Mary Ann furnace. It was situated on the head waters of the Little Lehigh and was erected before 1797 by Jacob Lesher and conducted by him until 1808, when it was sold to his son-in-law and deceased's father, Reuben Trexler, who was the first to cast the old-fashioned wood stoves at his works. Mr. Trexler operated the furnace until 1837, when it was transferred to the deceased, who conducted it until 1869, when a scarcity of wood and high price for labor forced a suspension. It has been out of blast ever since. Mr. Trexler moved to Reading in 1848 and in 1853 bought one-quarter interest in the Reading iron works and was connected with the company up to the time of his death. He was elected a director of the National Union Bank on November 22, 1864, was chosen president on September 9, 1873. He was president of the Reading Gas Company, having been elected to that office in 1860. Mr. Trexler was a leading member of St. James' Lutheran congregation and was a member of the vestry of the church. Deceased's wife died on February 6, last. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. George B. Eckert and Mrs. Henry May Keim, both of Reading, together with a brother, Colonel William Trexler, of Longswamp.

Trexler, Horatio

Horatio Trexler, the well known banker and iron master, died at his home in Reading on Monday morning of last week, of general debility and infirmities due to old age. He was 87 years old. He had been failing for over a year. He did not, however, take to bed until Thursday previous to his death, when he began to sink rapidly. He was born in Longswamp, Berks county, in 1812. His parents were Reuben and Ann Trexler. He engaged in mercantile business in 1830, and continued in it until 1834, after which he superintended his father's iron works, consisting of a charcoal blast furnace known as the Mary Ann furnace, in Longswamp, and two forges in district township, producing bar iron. In 1837 he succeeded his father in the furnace business and became the owner of the Mary Ann furnace, which he continued to operate until 1869. In 1848 Mr. Trexler moved to Reading, and in 1853 bought a one-fourth interest in the Reading Iron Works. Mr. Trexler's first wife was a Miss Hunter. Some years after her death, he was married to Miss Mary Louise Bell, who died Feb. 6th of this year. Two daughters by the first wife survive, Mrs. George B. Eckert and Mrs. Henry May Keim, both of Reading, and one brother, William Trexler, of Longswamp.

Trexler, Jacob A.

Dr. Jacob A. Trexler, who retired in 1951 after practicing medicine for nearly a half century, died yesterday morning at his home, 201 S. 2nd St., Lehighton. Born in Longswamp Township, Berks County, he was a son of the late David S. and Ella (Weller) Trexler. Dr. Trexler was graduated from Muhlenberg College in 1897 and from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, in 1901. He was a past president of the Carbon County Medical Society and the Lehigh Vally Medical Assn. He also was secretary of the Carbon County society for more than 30 years. Dr. Trexler was the organizer of the community nurse and ambulance association in Lehighton in 1922; a member of the community grove committee that saved the grove from becoming a residential area in 1924; a founder of the Lehighton Boys' Band and the first president of the Lehighton Community Chest. The late physician was a charter member of the Lehighton Rotary Club and the Crippled Children's Society in the county and was the first person in Carbon County officially to sell Easter Seals. Dr. Trexler was also a charter member of the Lehighton Elks, POSA, and was a member of the Lehighton Masonic Lodge, Knights Templar, Consistory and Irem Temple Shrine, Wilkes-Barre. He was Lehighton School District physician for 30 years before retiring in 1950. In 1953 he received the American Legion's Distinguished Service Certificate from the Lehighton American Legion. Dr. Trexler worshiped in Trinity Lutheran Church, Lehighton. He is survived by his wife, the former Sally Ann Knappenberger; Donald Bryan, New York; Olga, wife of Charles F. Spieker, Berkeley, Calif.; and Marian, wife of Lester W. Krum, Johnstown, and a sister, Mrs. R. M. Sellers, Palmerton. Five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Garrett Funeral Home, S. 3rd St., Lehighton.

Trexler, James Reuben

James Reuben, a son of Jacob A. and Mary Trexler, of Longswamp, died on Sunday, 22d ult., of scarlet fever, at the age of 6 years, 1 month and 5 days. The funeral took place on Friday forenoon following at the Lehigh Church, Rev. Father Yaeger, of this city, preaching the funeral sermon. It was the first death in the family. Three more of their children are ill with the same disease, but at last accounts were in an improving condition.

Private funeral services for Jairus Trexler, 87, who died early Monday in the Allentown hospital, will be held at his late home in Kempton R. 1 tomorrow at 1:30 p.m., followed by public services in the New Jerusalem church. Interment will be in St. John's cemetery. He was the son of the late James and Marie, nee Kemp, Trexler. Surviving are his wife, Rosa Trexler; four daughters: Minnie, wife of Owen Bachman, Allentown; Clara Trexler, Shoemakersville; Sallie, wife of John Levant, Kempton R. 2; and Olive, wife of Daniel Fittel, at home; three sons, Herman J. Trexler, Wescosville; Ezra Trexler, Lynnport; and Paul Trexler, of shillington; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Trexler, Jennie K. (nee Eck)

Jennie K. (nee Eck), widow of Henry Trexler, passed away Monday afternoon after being confined to the Allentown hospital for about one week. She was aged 46 years, 9 months, 3 days. A daughter of William and wife, Caroline, nee Youse, Eck. She was a resident of Mertztown practically all her life. Her husband preceded her in death six months. She was a member of the Lutheran Longswamp church. Surviving her are one son, George, Topton; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Eck, of Mertztown; two grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Alfred Derr, of Henningsville; one brother Edwin, of Henningsville. The funeral will be held from the resident of her son, George Smith, at Topton, on Saturday, January 18th at 2 p.m. Further services in Longswamp church. Interment in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. William F. Bond will officiate.

Trexler, Jerome P.

Jerome P. Trexler, 83, Topton storekeeper, whose wife, Mrs. Clara (Yoder) Trexler, died last Sunday, died unexpectedly Saturday morning at Allentown Hospital. He was born in Topton, a son of the late John and Katie (Pauley) Trexler. He resided at 4 N. Home Ave., Topton, where he and his wife conducted a store adjacent to their home for 55 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Topton, and the Topton-Longswamp Chamber of Commerce. Surviving are a son, Robert G., Topton; two grandchildren, Annabelle, wife of George Goll, Pompano Beach, Fla., and Lee P. Trexler, Topton; and five great-grandchildren.

Joel K. Trexler died on Saturday at his home in Kutztown, aged 73 years. He was a retired farmer, a member of St. John's Lutheran church, Kutztown. His wife, Lucy (Moyer) Trexler, died last August. Surviving are these children: Herbert Trexler, Mertztown R.D.; Laura, wife of John W. DeTurk, and Ralph Trexler, both of Kutztown; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a brother, Jarius Trexler, Kempton, R.D. 1, and a sister, Mrs. Missouri Lenhart, Kempton.

Trexler, John

John Trexler, an old and respected citizen of Macungie, died on Saturday evening about 10 o'clock, after an illness of only a few days, aged 86 years. Deceased had been living for the last eight or nine years at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lincoln Heffner. He was born and raised in Lehigh county, but lived the greater part of his life in Longswamp, where he was well and favorably known. He worked in the mines and hauled ore during the time mining was brisk in that section. About a year and a half ago, Mr. Heffner, with whom he was living, moved to Macungie, from whose residence the funeral will be held on Thursday, July 26th at 12 o'clock noon. After short services at the house by Rev. W. M. Kopenhaver, the funeral cortege will take the 12.47 p.m. train for Mertztown, where services will be hald and interment made. he was preceded to death by his wife about five years ago and one son. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Caroline Reppert, of Niantic, Montgomery county, and the following children: Mrs. Elmira Heffner and Mrs. Emma Wetzel of Macungie; Mrs. Eliza Miller, of Mertztown; Jonas, of Topton; John, Alvin and Henry, of Hancock. Twenty-six grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild survive. Relatives and friends will please note time of funeral.

Trexler, John C.

John C. Trexler, a Berks county farmer for 61 years, died yesterday at his Mertztown R. 1 home. He was the husband of Hester (Reinert) Trexler. Born in Rockland Township, Berks County, he was a son of the late William E. and Annie (Carl) Trexler. He was a member of the Lutheran wing of Zions Lehigh Church, Alburtis. Surviving besides his widow are a brother, George M. Trexler, Mertztown R. 1; a sister, Mrs. Emily T. Messersmith, of Fleetwood, and a step-brother, Robert J. Trexler of Reading. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Earl A. Trexler Funeral Home, 25 E. Weiss St., Topton. Viewing will be 7-8:30 p.m. Friday.

Trexler, John D.

Saturday, July 23d, about 10 o'clock p.m., John D. Trexler departed this life at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lincoln Heffner, at the great age of 85 years, 8 months and 24 days. He was sick only five days of ills incident to his years and the great heat lately. He had the same name as his father and his mother was a born Keinert. Deceased was born and raised in Lehigh county but spent the greater part of his life in Longswamp township, Berks county, where he was well and favorably known. He was a mason by trade and followed farming for many years, as also ore mining and teaming. For eighteen years he held the office of supervisor of Longswamp township, this showing the confidence reposed in him. His wife preceded him in death, five years, and three sons of their ten children have also gone before. The survivors are Jonas, of Topton; John, Henry and Alvin, of Hancock; Mrs. Elijah Miller, of Mertztown; Mrs. Geo. Wetzel and Mrs. Heffner, of Macungie. One sister, Mrs. Caroline Reppert, of Niantic, Montgomery county, also survives, as also 26 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The funeral takes place today (Thursday) from the home of his daughter, on Main street, with whom he resided for some nine years. Services at the house at 12 o'clock noon by the Rev. W. M. Kopenhaver. The funeral cortege will take the 12.47 train for Mertztown, where the burial will be made.

Trexler, John Lewis

John Lewis Trexler, secretary-treasurer of the Lehigh Box Co., expired shortly after 10 o'clock Friday night at his home, 222 N. 10th St. He was in his 75th year. Mr. Trexler had been an Allentown resident only four years, coming here from Mertztown, his lifelong home, when he accepted the office with the local company. In Mertztown he had been engaged in the flour and feed business, conducted a staves and lumber business, and operated several farms in the territory. For a number of years he served as the Morning Call's correspondent for Mertztown and even lately supplied news items of interesting events from that neighborhood. On a trip to Florida in 1928 he wrote interestingly of his observations for the readers of the Morning Call. In March of 1940 he and his wife observed the golden anniversary of their wedding. He was a son of the late Henry J. and Mary, nee Kercher, Trexler. Mr. Trexler leaves his wife, Amelia F. Long, a daughter of the late Dr. Manoah Long; one daughter, Mrs. C. H. Rothermel, of Alburtis, and a sister, Maggie Trexler, also of Alburtis. One son, John, and a daughter, Evelyn, wife of Arthur A. Butz, preceded him in death. He was a member of the Lutheran wing of St. Paul's Union church, Mertztown, and fraternally was affiliated with the Jr. O.U.A.M. of Mertztown. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the church, with Rev. William S. Dry of Kutztown officiating. Interment will be made in the adjoining cemetery.

Jonas Trexler died on Thursday at 5 p.m. at his home on Spruce street, Topton, of apoplexy, aged 70 years, 2 months and 18 days. Deceased was a veteran of the Civil War and had been in ill health for 3 years and 10 months. These brothers and sisters survive: John, of Topton, Alvin and Henry, of Hancock, and Mrs. Quinton Heffner and Mrs. George Wetzell, of Macungie, and Mrs. Carolina Miller, of Barto. Deceased leaves his widow, Amanda, nee Fenstermacher, and these children, Henry, of Trexlertown, Edwin and Fred, of Topton, Mrs. Reuben Fretz, of Mertztown and Mrs. Victor Wenner, of this city.

Two children preceded the father in death. The funeral will be held from his late residence on Wednesday, December 14, at 9.30 a.m. Services and interment at Longswamp Church. Revs. W. S. Bond and W. H. Kline will officiate. Funeral director Irwin D. Long of Alburtis has charge.

Trexler, Josephine E.

Josephine E., widow of Dr. William D. Trexler, of Topton, died Wednesday evening, following an illness with a complication of diseases. She was 72 years, 11 months and 22 days of age. Her husband preceded her in death about thirty years ago. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ellen Leibensperger, this city. The funeral will take place from her late residence at Topton on Friday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock. All services will be held at the house. Rev. W. H. Kline will officiate. Interment in the Topton cemetery.

Trexler, Kathryn

Mrs. Kathryn Trexler, an elderly and highly respected resident of Topton, was almost instantly killed at 7.30 o'clock last night when she was struck by a freight engine on the P. and R. railroad crossing at Topton. Mrs. Trexler, together with a neighbor, was on her way to attend a Halloween social. In an effort to make time, it is said she crossed the railroad tracks despite the fact that the safety gates were lowered. She died twenty minutes after being struck. Mrs. Trexler is survived by four children: Morris G. Trexler, Topton merchant; Harold Trexler, assistant cashier of the Topton National Bank; Mrs. H. A. Miller, Topton; and Mrs. H. W. Saul, wife of a Kutztown physician. Her husband preceded her in death two years ago.

Trexler, Katie (nee Pauley)

Katie, wife of John Trexler, died suddenly of heart failure at Hancock on Saturday, aged 60 years. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters and one son, Mrs. Thomas Newhard, of Allentown, and Mrs. William Fenstermacher and Jerome Trexler, of Topton. She was a daughter of John and Hettie Pauley, of Topton. There remain six sisters, namely: Mrs. William Reinert, of Topton; Mrs. Benneville Bordner, of Alburtis; Mrs. Allen Schrader and Mrs. Mary Weaver, of Allentown; Mrs. Charles Schearer, of Kutztown, and Mrs. David Fegley, of Reading.

Trexler, L.A.

Dr. L. A. Trexler, a former resident of Longswamp, Berks county, a son of Col. William Trexler, one day recently died suddenly of a sunstroke at his home in San Antonio, Texas. He had been a resident of said city the past 20 years. In March last, in company with his wife, he returned from a tour through Europe. The deceased was 44 years of age and is survived by his father, Col. William Trexler, residing at Longswamp, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Harrison Maltzberger and Mrs. Hiram Weiler, of Reading; Alongo Trexler, of Huntingdon, Pa.; and Alvin Trexler, William S. Trexler and John L. Trexler, all of Longswamp.

Trexler, L.A.

Dr. L. A. Trexler, formerly a resident of Berks county and a son of Col. Wm. Trexler of Longswamp, died suddenly of sunstroke at his home in San Antonio, Texas. Mrs. Trexler, who was with relatives in Reading, was terribly shocked to learn of her husband's death, having had no intimation that he was ill. Several days ago Mrs. Trexler received a letter from her husband, in which he stated that the heat of San Antonio was intense, the thermometer registering more than 100 degrees in the shade. Dr. Trexler, who was 44 years of age, comes from an old and highly respected family. He leaves, besides his wife, his father, Colonel William Trexler, residing at Longswamp, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Harrison Maltzberger, Reading; Alonzo Trexler, Huntingdon; Alvin Trexler, William S. Trexler, Longswamp; John L. Trexler, Macungie. The body was brought to Reading where the funeral was held yesterday.

Trexler, Leanda

Mrs. Leanda Trexler, a well known resident of Lyons for many years, after a lingering illness from the infirmities of age, fell asleep early on Tuesday morning, May 24, aged 88 years, 11 months and 10 days. Funeral services over her remains are arranged for Saturday, May 28, at 1.30 p.m. at the house, to be continued in Trinity Lutheran church at Bowers, where interment in the Union cemetery will be made. Undertaker Schaeffer, Kutztown, is in charge.

Trexler, Lesher

Dr. Lesher Trexler died at his residence at Fort Wayne, Ind., of brain fever. Deceased was a native of Longswamp, Berks county, where he practiced for several years. He removed to Macungie and while residing there in 1847, was the Republican candidate for Congress against the late Hon. Samuel A. Bridges, who defeated him. Deceased practiced for a number of years at Allentown and returned to Longswamp and 15 years ago located at Fort Wayne. He leaves a wife and 4 daughters: Mrs. J. F. Benno and Mrs. Frank P. Lentz, of Allentown; Mrs. Dr. J. F. Wertz, of Shamrock and Mrs. Henry Boyer, of Lyons, whose first husband was the late Rev. Alfred Croll. deceased died in the 69th year of his age. The remains have arrived at the residence of Dr. Wertz, at Shamrock, from where interment will be made.

Trexler, Lillie R. (nee Geist)

Mrs. Lillie R. Trexler, 73, of New Tripoli R. 2, died yesterday in her home. She was born in Longswamp Township, Berks County, a daughter of the late Valentine and Mary (Geist) Geist. She was the widow of Edward C. Trexler. Surviving are two sons, John E., of Allentown, and Edwin C., of New Tripoli R. 2; four daughters, Elsie, wife of Ralph Billig, of Orefield R. 1; Mary, wife of LeRoy Werley, and Florence, wife of Leon Geiger, both of Breinigsville R. 1, and Mabel, wife of Kenneth Wisser of New Tripoli R. 2; three sisters, Mrs. John Schaffer of Allentown, Mrs. Annie E. Wehr of Allentown and Mrs. Lizzie Wendling of Mertztown R. 1; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Schmoyer Funeral Home, Breinigsville. Viewing will be 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Trexler, Marietta (nee Leibensperger)

Marietta, widow of Uriah L. Trexler, of Kutztown, died of general infirmities in the Nurses' Home, St. Joseph's Hospital, Reading, on Thursday morning. Deceased was born in Maxatawny township, and was a daughter of the late Benjamin Leibensperger and his wife Sarah (nee Saul). She leaves a daughter, Annie, at home, and a son, Edward D. Trexler, attorney-at-law, of Reading; three sisters, Mrs. Charles Fenstermacher, Seipstown; Amelia and Kate Leibensperger, Allentown, and one brother, Benjamin, of Santa Margarita, Cal.

Trexler, Mary

Mary, widow of Jacob Trexler, died on Monday night at her home in Longswamp, of general debility, aged 82 years. She is survived by three sons: Alfred, with whom she lived; Henry, of Mertztown, and David, of near Shamrock. One daughter, Mrs. James Schaeffer, of this city, also survives. The funeral will take place on Friday morning in the Lehigh Church, Rev. Dr. A. R. Horne officiating.

Trexler, Mary Ann

After ailing for some time from a complication of ailments, Mary Ann, wife of Charles D. Trexler, died at noon Saturday at her home on North Seventh street, Emaus. She was aged 69 years.

Mrs. Trexler was born at Oley, Berks county, a daughter of the late William and Sarah Deisher Hilbert, but resided in Emaus for many years. She was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Lehigh church, near Alburtis.

Surviving are her husband, two sons, Edwin F., of Emaus, and Horace, of Reading; two daughters, Mrs. Walter Miller, Allentown R. 5, and Mrs. Morris Hamscher, of Emaus; six brothers, William Hilbert, Edwin Hilbert and Harry Hilbert, of this city; George Hilbert and Carolus Hilbert, Bethlehem, and Oscar Hilbert, Schnecksville, and three sisters, Mrs. Wilson Trumbauer and Mrs. Edwin Sechler, this city, and Mrs. Jeremiah Oswald, Catasauqua.

Trexler, Mary Ann (nee Kercher)

Death yesterday claimed one of Mertztown's best known residents when Mary Ann Trexler, widow of Henry J. Trexler, died at her late home there following an illness from complications incident to old age. She was in her ninety-first year. Born in Longswamp township, Berks county, Mrs. Trexler was a daughter of the late John and Eliza, nee Haas, Kercher. She resided at Mertztown for the greater part of her life. All of her life she was a faithful member of the Lutheran wing of St. Paul's Union church, Mertztown, and was affiliated with the Ladies' Aid society of the congregation. She is survived by three children, John L. Trexler and Maggie Trexler, at home, and Dr. Jacob F. Trexler of Lancaster. Two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one brother, Wilson Kercher of Mertztown Route, also survive. Her husband died eleven years ago. Funeral services will be held at her late home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Brief services at the house will be followed by regular services in St. Paul's Union church with Rev. William S. Dry and Rev. M. H. Brensinger officiating. Interment will be made in the cemetery adjoining the church. Friends may call on Friday evening from 7 to 9 o'clock.

Trexler, Mary E. (nee Kern)

Mrs. Mary E. Trexler, 92, of 1610 W. North St., Bethlehem, widow of Frank D. Trexler, died late Friday night in the Mary Ellen Convalescent Home, Hellertown, where she was a guest three weeks. Born in Longswamp Township, Berks County, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Susan (Troxel) Kern. Her husband died in 1938. Surviving are a daughter, Ella, wife of Martin Adams, with whom she resided, 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Schofer Funeral Home, Topton. There will be no viewing.

Trexler, Mrs. Milton (nee Miller)

Severely burned twelve days ago, Mrs. Milton Trexler, of near Breinigsville, died at her home last evening at 6.45 o'clock. At the time of the sad accident, Mrs. Trexler was assisting her husband, who is a farmer and butcher. She was removing a quantity of meat from a vessel that was placed over a log fire. Flames communicated with her clothing and she was terribly burned. Mrs. Trexler was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. Valentine Miller and was born in Windsor township, Berks county. She is survived by her husband, two sons, Lloyd and Clarence, one daughter, Mrs. Charles Dietreick, all at home; three brothers, Irwin, Kutztown; Owen, Dreibelbies Station; and William, Leesport; one sister, Mrs. Henry Warmkessel, Kutztown, and two grandchildren.

Trexler, Milton C.

Milton C. Trexler, who helped maintain the right of way of the old Allentown and Reading Traction Co., died yesterday morning at the Allentown hospital where he was taken after he suffered a stroke at his home at Wescosville on Friday. He was 80 years old. Born in Maxatawny township, Berks county, Mr. Trexler was a son of the late Benjamin and Lydia, nee Reiter, Trexler. For many years he was engaged in farming but then for 20 years, prior to his retirement 15 years ago, was a tackman for the traction company. He was a member of the Lutheran congregation of the Maxatawny Zion church, and at one time served as deacon. Fraternally he was affiliated with the Junior Order United American Mechanics of Kutztown. Surviving are a son, Lloyd, of Trexlertown; two daughters, Mrs. Mamie Dietrich, Emmaus R. 1, and Mrs. Charles Ruppert, Easton; 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and two brothers, Jeremiah of Wescosville and Clayton of Topton. His first wife, Agnes Miller Trexler, died 27 years ago, and he also was preceded in death 15 years ago by his second wife, Emma Kintz Trexler. A son also preceded him in death.

Trexler, Morris Daniel

Morris Daniel, son of the late Charles D. and Catherine (nee Haas) Trexler, died yesterday at his home, Center avenue, Topton, of influenza and pneumonia, aged 54 years, 4 months and 21 days. He had been ill less than a week, death coming at 8:35 a.m. Mr. Trexler's wife, Hattie, (nee Saul), one son, Rev. Mark A. Trexler, pastor of Calvary Lutheran church, Laureldale, Pa.; one brother, C. Harold Trexler, assistant cashier of the Topton National Bank; two sisters, Jennie, wife of Harvey A. Miller, of Topton, and Katie, wife of Dr. H. W. Saul, of Kutztown, and one grandchild survive. Mr. Trexler was extremely well known in his community. He was a graduate of Eastman's College at Poughkeepsie, N.Y., engaging, immediately after graduation, in the general merchandise business at TOpton, with his father, continuing for 25 years. Following his father's death, he continued the business for five years more. For thirty years he was the Topton correspondent for the Reading Eagle. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran church, Topton, and a member of the church council for a period of many years. He was a member of Huguenot Lodge 377, F. and A. M., Kutztown; Excelsior Chapter of the Royal Arcanum 237, Reading; Council 42, Knights Templar, of Reading; Lodge of Perfection and Reading Consistory, Rajah Temple of the Shrine, and Washington Camp 172, P.O.S. of A., of Topton. The funeral will be held from his late residence at Topton, on Friday, at 2 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the Trinity Lutheran church, Topton, and interment in the Union cemetery. Rev. W. H. Crimes will officiate.

Trexler, Oscar H.

Oscar H. Trexler, 84, a clerk in the real estate department of the Allentown National Bank, died unexpectedly early Wednesday at his home, 34 S. Fulton St. A native of Mertztown, he was the son of the late Edwin and Eliza (Schwartz) Trexler and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Surviving are a son, Hirst M., Allentown; three brothers, Jerry H., Mertztown; James L., Topton, and George J., Thurmont, Md.; two grandchildren, Hirst M. Jr., and John K., both of Allentown, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Anna C. (Mosser) Trexler, in 1922.

Mrs. Rosa H. Trexler, widow of Jarius K. Trexler, died yesterday at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Fitterling, of Stony Run, Berks county, after having suffered a fall down a stairway. She was 84 years of age. Mrs. Trexler was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Sarah, nee Hartman, Kunkel. She was born in Albany township, Berks county, and spent most of her life there. She was a member of the Lutheran congregation of New Jerusalem (Red) church. Surviving are six children: Minnie, wife of Owen J. Bachman, Allentown; Ezra B., Lynnport; Clarence, Shoemakersville; Sallie, wife of John Levan, Kempton R. 2; Paul, Shillington; and Olive, wife of Daniel Fitterling, Stony Run. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, a brother, William Kunkel, Kempton R. 2, and a sister, Mrs. George Lutz, Kempton. Private funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Fitterling in Stony Run. Public services will follow in New Jerusalem (Red) church. interment in the cemetery adjoining the church. Rev. LeRoy Bond will officiate.

Miss Sadie L. Trexler, aged forty-five years, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edwin H. Trexler, of Mertztown, died of septic poison. Deceased was a life long member of the Lutheran Church, of Mertztown. She is survived by these brothers and sister: Frank N. and Jerry H. Trexler, at home; James L. Trexler, of Topton; Oscar H. Mrs. Sallie M. Trexler, widow of Herbert G. Trexler, died yesterday morning at her Alburtis home. She was 79. Born in Rockland Township, Berks County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Catherine (Seip) Gaby. Her husband died in 1949. Mrs. Trexler was a member of Delong's Christ United Church of Christ, Bowers. Surviving are eight sons, Warren, Kutztown; Lloyd and Wayne, both of Topton; Howard, mertztown R. 1; Lester, Macungie R. 1; Carl, Wescosville R. 1; Paul, Allentown, and Leon, Alburtis; a daughter Mamie, wife of Paul Bitting, East Greenville; a sister Elda, wife of John Wiltrout, Kutztown R. 3; two brothers, Daniel, Dansville R. 1, N.Y., and William, Kutztown; 27 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Earl A. Trexler Funeral Home, 25 E. Weiss St., Topton, with viewing from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Trexler, Sarah A. Carolina (nee Deisher)

Mrs. Sarah A. Carolina, widow of the late Alvin S. Trexler, Longswamp, after a lingering illness, passed away in the Allentown hospital, aged 71 years, 2 months and 19 days. The deceased was a daughter of William and Sarah Anna (Butz) Deisher, and was born in Lower Macungie township, Lehigh county, on August 6, 1857. She was baptized the same year, September 6, by Rev. W. A. Helffrich, D.D., the sponsors having been John and Susannah Butz. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on November 4, 1871, at Longswamp by Rev. Simon R. Boyer. She was married to Alvin S. Trexler July 17, 1877, in Kutztown, by Rev. Isaac Roeller. Of two sons, William Alvin died in infancy. There reamin Claude D., an only son, at home; two granddaughters, Marguerite and Corine; two brothers, Reuben Deisher, Longswamp, and Peter A., Allentown; and two sisters, Susan, wife of the late Edwin DeLong, Bowers, and Louisa, wife of Almond Schmeyer, Allentown. The pallbearers were Edwin F., Charles P. and Frank A. Deisher, Edwin DeLong, Harry, Paul, Russell and Willis Schmeyer. There were numerous and beautiful floral tributes. The two pastors of Longswamp church officiated at the services, Rev. W. F. Bond and Rev. W. L. Meckstroth. Twenty-four years ago the family resided in Shamrock where her husband conducted a feed, coal and lumber business. When Col. William Trexler passed away, they moved to the Trexler homestead in Longswamp. The deceased was an active member of the Ladies' Aid society. In later years she was a devoted member of the home department of the Longswamp Sunday school.

Trexler, Uriah L.

Uriah L. Trexler, a retired citizen of Kutztown, died on Tuesday, after an illness of two weeks. Deceased was aged 78 years. Death was due to uraemia and grippe. For thirty years he was engaged in farming in Greenwich and Maxatawny townships. Besides his widow, Mary, nee Leibensperger, deceased is survived by one daughter, Anna, at home; one son, Edward B. Trexler, a Reading attorney; one sister, Mary Ann, widow of Jacob Fister, of Greenwich township; one brother, Chas. D. Trexler, of Topton, and one grandson.

Trexler, Warren L.

ATLANTIC CITY --- Dr. Warren L. Trexler, well known Topton physician and Berks County deputy coroner, died unexpectedly Saturday in this New Jersey resort community. He was 52.

Dr. Trexler was stricken while having dinner in a restaurant. An Atlantic City coroner said death was caused by a heart attack. He and his wife were on a weekend outing.

Born in Albany Township, Berks County, he was a son of William K. and Missouri (Lutz) Trexler. His two brothers are Berks County doctors and his sister is married to a physician.

Dr. Trexler graduated from Slatington High School in 1925 and the Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia in 1932. Following a year's internship in Reading's Community General Hospital, he moved to Topton and set up a practice at his residence, 112 S. Home Ave.

He served as a captain in the Army Medical Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Topton American Legion post and Breinigsville Veterans of Foreign Wars post.

Dr. Trexler was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Topton. He was an active Mason and member of the Reading Consistory and Rajah Temple in Reading. He was a member of the Berks County Medical Society.

Surviving besides his parents in Kempton are his wife Margaret E. (Castor) Trexler; a son Richard L. and a daughter Barbara L., wife of George W. York, both of Allentown; two brothers, Dr. Harold L. Trexler of Shillington and Dr. Ethan L. Trexler of Fleetwood; a sister Pauline, wife of Dr. Charles Tyler of Haddonfield, N.J., and a granddaughter.

Services will be at the convenience of the family in the Earl A. Trexler Funeral Home, 25 E. Weiss St., Topton. Viewing will be 6-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Trexler, William

A 22-year-old man was killed and his 15-year-old girl companion seriously injured in a single car accident on the Seisholtzville-Topton road, between Red Lion and Maple Grove, Berks county, shortly after 1 o'clock this morning. The victim was William Trexler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Trexler of Hancock, who was dead when admitted to the Allentown hospital at 1:30 o'clock. His companion, Althea Henry, 15, daughter of Boyd Henry of Mertztown R. 1, is a patient at Allentown hospital, suffering from a deep gash over her forehead and lacerations of her left arm and body. According to hospital attendants, Miss Henry said they had just left a part at Red Lion and were bound for home when Trexler lost control of his car, narrowly missed a pole and went over an embankment, causing the car to overturn. Miss Henry was brought to the hospital by Fred Hoffman of Alburtis, while Earl Minnich of Macungie R. 1, rushed Trexler to the institution. Trexler is survived by his parents and one brother, Lester.

Trexler, William Ethan

William Ethan Trexler, 23, of Hancock, who died following an automobile accident between Red Lion and Maple Grove early Saturday morning, was the son of Herbert and Sally, nee Gaby, Trexler of Hancock. Surviving are his parents; seven brothers, Wayne and Paul, at home; Warren, Kutztown; Lloyd, Topton; Howard, Breinigsville; Lester, Macungie R. 1, and Carl, Allentown; and one sister, Mrs. Paul Bitting, East Greenville. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the home of the parents in Hancock with further services at St. John's Union church, Kutztown. Interment will be in the Fairview cemetery, Kutztown. The Rev. J. W. Bittner will officiate. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Trexler, William

Close upon the tragic death of his wife, William Trexler, of Topton, met his death under a train on Sunday morning. He was wandering along the tracks at midnight and was cautioned to keep away but some time between one and two o'clock he was struck by an East Penn train and his body was found lifeless at 2 a.m. The remains were removed to the rooms of Undertaker Schafer at Topton. The deceased was about thirty-eight years of age and leaves four small children, two brothers, one employed at the Topton Furnace and the other is the baker at Topton, and one sister. He was lately employed at the Topton Foundry. About three months ago he served as watchman at the Topton Foundry. The story of his wife's serious illness was then to the effect that the wife boasted of her husband having such a good job and some of the other women grew jealous and clubbed her with brooms. The clubbing caused her to suffer internally and she died in the Allentown hospital. After her death the four small children were given out to relatives and one is at the Topton Orphans Home. The date of the funeral has not yet been fixed.

Col. William Trexler, aged 89 years, a retired resident of Longswamp, died on Tuesday night at his home, one mile south of Shamrock, of general debility. In his time, Col. Trexler was engaged in many business enterprises, in all of which he met with more than ordinary success. At the age of 26 years, he was married to Mary Ann, daughter of John Singmaster, of Macungie. Mrs. Trexler died in 1877. They had the following children: Reuben, deceased; Alonzo, of Huntingdon county; Anna, widow of Henry H. Maltzberger, attorney, of Reading; Alvin, of Longswamp; William, Dr. Lesher Ashley, of Texas, deceased; John L. S., of Macungie; Mary, the late wife of Hiram weiler, of Reading; Henry Clay, deceased, and Myra, deceased. Deceased's second wife was Amelia Schall, who died February, 1890. Col. Trexler was a life-long Republican and was postmaster of Longswamp for 55 years. He was also justice of the peace in his younger years and held other minor offices. He was a member of Berger Lodge, No. 333, F. and A. M., Allentown, and of the Lutheran church. Deceased's mansion at Longswamp is one of the finest in Berks county. It is elegantly furnished and contains many priceless heirlooms of the old-time iron masters. Col. Trexler and his father before him were great entertainers. For more than 50 years he was one of the most widely known men in Berks and he did more than his share toward building up the thrifty community in which he lived. He was a man of wonderful vitality, being able to direct all his affairs up to a short time ago. He even made business trips to Reading, unaccompanied, less than a year ago. He was born in Longswamp, September 2, 1816, and was a son of Reuben and Anna (Lesher) Trexler.

Trexler, Mrs. William P.

Peculiarly distressing circumstances appear to surround the death at the Allentown Hospital Monday morning of Mrs. William P. Trexler, of Topton. Mrs. Trexler, who was about to become a mother, succumbed to injuries alleged to have been sustained at the hands of two of her neighbors, a Miss Weil and Mrs. Billiard. The Trexler family resides in one of the furnace company's houses, near the furnace. The Weil and Billiard families are neighbors. The story given yesterday by the husband is that he was appointed watchman at the furnace lately, having been selected from those out of employment because he had the largest family. They have five small children. This appointment caused the envy of the neighbors and one evening, several weeks ago, his wife visited him at the furnace and upon her return the two women met her before she got home and set upon her with brooms. She screamed so loudly she was heard some distance. One story is that Mrs. Trexler was rather pretty and dainty and she got into a quarrel and called the other women slops and that this was one reason of the attack. As Mrs. Trexler was about to become a mother, the assault is said to have caused injuries that led to fatal illness. When she was brought to the Allentown Hospital an operation was not deemed advisable and she died on Monday. She was 33 years of age. The funeral will take place tomorrow.

Trexler, William E.

William E. Trexler, a well known farmer of near Dryville, died there at his home on Sunday morning after a two week's illness from pneumonia. He was in his 59th year. He was born a son of J. Alfred Trexler, of Shamrock, and his late wife, Mary, nee Deysher, and followed farming during the greater part of his life. He was a member of the Lutheran wing of the Lehigh church, and fraternally was affiliated with the I.O.O.F., of Lyons. He was twice married. His first wife, Laura, nee Schantz, died several years ago. He is survived by this second wife, Annie, nee Carl, and the following children: Robert, of Oley R. 2; and John, George and Emily, at home. He is also survived by his aged father and two sisters, Mrs. William Schoedler, of Allentown, and Mrs. Fred Schoedler, of Manheim; and a grandchild, Edith Trexler, of Oley R. 2. The funeral will be held from his late home, near Dryville, Berks county, on Thursday at 1.30 p.m., with services at the house and interment in the Lehigh church cemetery. Rev. C. A. Kerschner, of Allentown, will officiate.

Trexler, William S.

William S. Trexler, a son of Col. William Trexler, of Longswamp, died on Tuesday of last week, at 6 a.m., at St. Joseph's hospital, in Reading, of a complication of diseases, aged 44 years. Deceased suffered a stroke four years ago and since that time was an invalid. He was in the hospital four days. His remains were removed by Undertaker Hiram L. Henninger to the residence of the deceased's father at Longswamp, where the funeral was held on Friday. Interment was made on Fairview Cemetery, Macungie. Besides his father, he is survived by three brothers, Alonzo, of Huntingdon county; Alvin, of Longswamp; John, of Macungie, and a sister, Mrs. Harry Maltzberger, of Reading.

Trexler, Wm.

Col. Wm. Trexler, of Longswamp township, Berks county, died on Tuesday night, in his ninetieth year. He was bedfast for nine weeks and the infirmities of his years were the main cause. He had been remarkably well preserved until close to his end. Deceased was a well-known man, prominent in the various activities of his county and widely known outside. Of a genial disposition and hospitable nature, he had many friends. In his early manhood his commanding abilities were recognized and he was appointed a Colonel in the State Militia and by which title he was ever after familiarly known, as he was a popular commander in that local soldiery. He was active in various business enterprises. He long conducted three farms, a mill, a tannery and a grain depot at the same time. In later years he gave into other hands all except his homestead farm. For many years he was postmaster at Longswamp and was also station agent at Shamrock. Deceased was a son of the late Reuben and Mary Trexler. He spent all his life at his native home in Longswamp and outlived four brothers. Mr. Trexler was twice married. His first wife was Mary, a daughter of the late John and Esther Singmaster, of Macungie. She died in 1875. They had nine children, five of whom preceded the father. The surviving ones are Annie, widow of Harry Maltzberger, of Reading; Alonzo, late of Huntingdon, now at the old home; Alvin, of Shamrock, and John, of Macungie, besides four grandchildren. A second marriage to Amelia Schall, of Dale, resulted in no children and she, too, preceded her husband by about fifteen years. The funeral will take place next Saturday at 9.30 a.m. with services at the house. Interment will be made on Fairview cemetery, Macungie.

Troemel, James A.

The Sanders Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for James A. Troemel, formerly of Blandon, who died June 3 in his Muhlenberg Township residence. Burial was in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township. He was predeceased by his wife, JoAnn R. (Brovey) Troemel, who died Aug. 15, 1999. Born in Tamanend, Schuylkill County, he was a son of the William H. and Eva E. (Billman) Troemel. Until retiring in 1995, he was employed as a sexton at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Reading, for many years. He was a World War II Marine Corp veteran. Surviving are two sons, James A. Troemel II, in California, and William Troemel, Nesquehoning, Carbon County; and a daughter, Betty Troemel, Hatboro, Montgomery County. Other survivors include two stepdaughters, Deborah (Dale) Furman, Orlando, Fla., and Linda (Dale) Oxenreider, Wernersville; and five stepsons: Robert Dale, Theodore Dale and Thomas Dale, all of Reading; Kenneth Dale, Philadephia; and Richard Dale, Wyomissing. There are also five grandchildren. He was predeceased by a stepdaughter, Donna (Dale) Haas, in 1991.

Trollinger, Albert M.

Albert M. Trollinger, 82, a retired farmer and lifetime resident of Hereford township, died yesterday at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd E. Trollinger, Macungie R. 1, near Harlem. Mr. Trollinger was a member of the Reformed congregation of Huffs' church. His wife, Catharine (Sulkee) Trollinger, preceded him in death. Surviving in addition to the son with whom he lived are two daughters, Minnie, wife of Willoughby Brensinger, Barto R. 1; and Bertie, wife of Erwin Crush, Allentown; 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Cornelius Trollinger died at Huff's Church of softening of the brain, aged 71 years. He is survived by his widow, Kitty (nee DeLong), Peter and Adam Trollinger of Huff's Church, and John Trollinger, Mrs. Fisher and Mrs. Kretz, of Reading, are brother and sisters. Funeral Tuesday forenoon at 9.30, Rev. Dr. Eli Keller officiating.

Trollinger, Miriam Elda

Miriam Elda Trollinger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd E. Trollinger, died February 15 at the age of 3 years, 9 months and 26 days. The funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the parents residence, Harlem, and interment will be made in the Huffs Church Union cemetery. Besides the parents there survive two brothers, Bernard and William, both at home, and two sisters, Jean at home, and Dora, of Bethlehem. The paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Trollinger, of Harlem, also survive.

Trout, Alice S.

Services will be held Friday for Alice S. (Griesemer) Trout, 87, formerly of Oley, who died May 5 in Kutztown Manor. She was the widow of Stanley S. Trout. Born in Oley, she was a 1934 graduate of Oley Valley High School and from Kutztown State Teachers College in 1936. In 1967, she earned her bachelor of science degree in education from Kutztown. She taught in the Oley Valley School District for 21 years, retiring in 1979. Before that, she taught in the Boyertown School District for 11 years. Trout was a member of Salem United Church of Christ of Spangsville. Surviving are four sons, David G. Trout, of Gilbertsville, John G. Trout of Glen Rock, Mary G. Trout of Fleetwood and Roger G. Trout of Boyertown; two daughters, Eleanor G. Shaner of Kutztown and Mary G. Perlstein of Oldsmar, Fla. Also 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Contributions may be made to the Salem United Church of Christ memorial fund, 307 Covered Bridge Road, Oley. Calling hours will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday and from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Friday in the Christ & Catagnus Funeral Home, 423 Main St., Oley. Troutman, Caroline

Caroline "Carrie" Troutman, 98, of 199 N. Limerick Road, Schwencksville, Montgomery County, died Wednesday at 3:40 a.m. in the Pottstown Medical Center. Her husband, Calvin A. Troutman, died Dec. 14, 1956. Born in Upper Tulpehocken Township, she was a daughter of the late Emmanuel and Mamie (Koch) Metz. She was employed as a sewing machine operator by the former Raubenhold Knitting Mill, Port Clinton, Schuylkill County, and the Windsor Knitting Mill, Hamburg, and was last employed in the dietary department of Pottstown Medical center, retiring in 1968. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Pottstown. She was a life member of the Women of the Moose, Lodge 786, Hamburg, and a charter member of the Hamburg Council 1, Ladies Association of the Order of Independent Americans. Surviving are three grandchildren, six step grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Arlen Troutman. Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. in Leibensperger Funeral Homes Inc., Hamburg. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg.

Mt. Aetna. The funeral of Jonathan Troutman, who died from the effects of a stroke of paralysis, will take place Thursday, Jan. 5, at Union cemetery. Rev. L. D. Stambaugh will officiate. Deceased was 74 years old and leaves a widow, 2 sons and 2 daughters. Mr. Troutman was one of the leading members of the Reformed church.

Troutman, Lewis

Mr. and Mrs. John Troutman, of Greenawalt's Station, Albany tsp., Berks county, the other day received a telegram from Boyestown, Philippine Islands, informing them of the death of their son, Lewis, in the U.S. army hospital at that place. The dispatch did not give the date nor state the disease which had carried him off. He was about 24 years of age, and before he enlisted for the Philippine war learned the blacksmithing trade in the carriage factory shops of Mr. E. A. Ely, at Steinsville, Lynn tsp., this county. He is survived by his parents and the following step-brothers and sisters: Oscar Kemmerling, of Reading; Charles, of Allentown; William of Albany tsp., Berks county; Mrs. Jackson Follweiler, of Wanamaker's; Mrs. E. Troutman, Ralph E.

Ralph E. Troutman, 89, formerly of Marion Township, died May 6 at 4:45 a.m. in Evangelical Congregational Church Retirement Village-Albright Campus, Myerstown, Lebanon County, where he had been a resident since May 2003. His wife, Mabel S. (Zechman) Troutman, died June 30, 2004. Born in Jefferson Township, he was a son of the late Frank and Mary H. (Troutman) Troutman. Troutman had been employed as a bus driver for Marion Township School in the Conrad Weiser School District, from 1953 until 1980. He previously worked as a molder for Textile Machine Works, Wyomissing. He was also a dairy farmer in Marion Township from 1950 until 2001. Troutman was a member of St. John's Host Church, Tulpehocken Township, where he served on the consistory and was deacon, elder and assistant superintendent of the Sunday school. He was a life member of the Marion Township Grange, Stouchsburg. Troutman is survived by a daughter, Janice E. (Troutman) Fuester, Pennsauken, N.J.; and four sons: Martin F., Audubon, N.J.; Franklin M., Marion Township; Eugene M., Littleton, Colo.; and Bryan G., Temperance, Mich. There are also 10 grandchildren. Services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in St. John's Host Church. Burial will be in Host Church Cemetery, Tulpehocken Township. Troutman, Sarah (nee Potteiger)

Sarah (Potteiger), wife of Isaac Troutman, died from pneumonia, after an illness of five days, at the home of her son, Charles, 131 Bern Street, aged 79 years, 5 months and 8 days. She was a daughter of the late William and Catherine (Yerger) Potteiger, and was a member of Hinnershitz Lutheran Church. There survive her husband and these children: James, Hyde Park, Charles, with whom she resided, and Howard, Reading, also five grandchildren. Funeral on Friday at 1:30 p.m. Services at the house, Rev. L.R. Miller officiating. Interment in Hinnershitz Church Cemetery, in charge of Funeral Director J.D. Nafzinger, of Centerport.

Troutman, Warren H.

Warren H. Troutman, 100, died June 26 in his residence in Lincoln Park. He was predeceased by his first wife, Orpah N. (Frey) Troutman, and by his second wife, Jane (Rubel) Troutman. Born in Host, Tulpehocken Township, he was a son of the late John and Emma (Feeg) Troutman. Troutman was employed for more than 35 years as a manager by Pepsi-Cola Co. in Reading, until his retirement. He was a life member of the Manor Golf Club, Fritztown. Troutman was active in the YMCA summer horse camp. Surviving is a son, Courtland W., Pelham Manor, N.Y. Other survivors include a brother, Joseph, Newmanstown, Lebanon County. There are also two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the First Church of the Brethren, Wyomissing. Burial will be private. The Auman Funeral Homes, Reading, is in charge of arrangements.

Troxel, Jeremiah

Five minutes after complaining of being ill yesterday, Jeremiah Troxel, 80 years, 4 months and 27 days, and a native of Longswamp township, died at the home of Lesher M. Livingood, 433 North Fifth street, Reading. Dr. S. B. Glick, coroner, issued a certificate of death due to a heart attack. Mr. Troxel was stricken while waiting for his step-son to return to Shippensburg. Surviving are his widow, Catherine (Gordon-Sterner); a son Clarence, of Vera Cruz, and seven step-children: Luther, Esther and Henry Sterner, of Allentown; George and Howard Sterner, Reading; Mrs. David Wilson, Shippensburg, with whom he resided, and Mrs. Walter Jarrett, Macungie R.D. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1.30 p.m. at the Irwin D. DeLong funeral home, Topton. The Rev. Donald M. C. Englert will conduct further services in Longswamp church. Interment in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing Tuesday at the funeral home, 7 to 9 p.m.

Troxell, Emma (nee Otto)

Mrs. Emma Troxell, 75, 828 Green St., died at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday in Allentown Hospital, to which she was admitted at 9 p.m. after she had been stricken earlier in the day. She was the widow of William P. Troxell and was born in Longswamp Township, Berks County, a daughter of the late James and Rebecca (Oswald) Otto. She was a member of Dubbs Memorial ER Church. Preceded in death by her husband, parents, a daughter, Mrs. Jennie Wirth, and a son, Frank, she is survived by three sons, Roderick C. and Raymond E. Troxell, both of Allentown, and William P. Troxell of Ohio, 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Clifford L. Trumbauer, 79, of Trumbauersville, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002 at St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital. Memorial services will be held on Friday, Nov. 22, 2002 at 7 p.m. at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1 Luther Lane, Trumbauersville, PA 18970. He was the husband of the late Ruth E. (Rukwied) Trumbauer. Born in Quakertown, he was the son of the late Seth and Ella (Seasholtz) Trumbauer. He retired in 1985 as a machine operator for Cabot Inc., of Boyertown. He was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Trumbauersville. He was a member of Trumbauersville Fire Co. and Great Swamp Fish and Game. He was a U.S. Nacy veteran serving during World War II. he is survived by: one son, Jesse L. of Geryville; two daughters, Lois and Janet, both of Quakertown; one brother, Russell, in Florida and one sister, Kathryn Rush of Bethlehem; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Milton Trumbauer of Barto died yesterday in Reading Hospital. He was the husband of the late Susan (Miller) Trumbauer. Born in Lehigh County, he was the son of the late John and Katie (Boyer) Trumbauer. Surviving are two daughters, Violet M., wife of Harry M. Miller of Kutztown R. 2 and Mrs. Eva S. Buck of Barto; a son, Arthur L., of Alburtis R. 1, and 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Huffs Church near Barto. Trumbauer, Mildred M.

Services were held for Mildred M. Trumbauer, 85, formerly of Westview Drive, Womelsdorf, who died February 9 in Phoebe Berks Health Care Center, Wernersville, where she had resided for two years. She had previously resided at Outlook Pointe of Exeter Township from 1999 to 2001. Her husband, Thomas F. Trumbauer, died in 2000. Born in Lehigh County, she was the owner-operator of the Dutch Maid Restaurant, Kutztown, for 20 years until 1961. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Lewisburg, Union County. Surviving are a daughter, Nancy M. (Trumbauer) Ziolkowski, Spring Township; a stepson, Leon Trumbauer, Allentown; and a stepdaughter, Shirlene (Trumbauer) Solley, Alsace Township. Other survivors include a sister; three grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, four great-grandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren. Burial was in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton. The Bean Funeral Homes Inc., Sinking Spring, handled the arrangements.

Trumbauer, Susan (nee Miller)

Mrs. Susan (Miller) Trumbauer, 65, wife of Milton Trumbauer, Barto R. 1, died Saturday morning in Allentown Hospital. She had been a patient there since August. Born in Maiden Creek Township, Berks County, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Amelia (Manmiller) Miller. She was a member of the Lutheran wing of Huff's Union Church. Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Violet, wife of Harry Miller, Topton, and Eva, wife of Charles Sheetz, Barto; a son, Arthur, Alburtis R. 1; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Kate, wife of Alvin Salade, York, and Millie, wife of Walter Wissner, Reading, and two brothers, William and Jacob Miller, Reading. Funeral services, in charge of the DeLong and Trexler Funeral Home at Topton, will be in Huff's Union Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Trumbore, Helen M.

Helen M. Trumbore, 91, of 5573 Blimline Road, Brecknock Township, Berks County, formerly of Shartlesville, died Thursday evening in her residence. Born in Upper Bern Township, Berks County, she was a daughter of the late Daniel C. and Sallie A. Keim Stoudt. She was employed for 20 years as a sewing machine operator by the former Windsor Knitting Mills, Hamburg, retiring in 1978. She was a member of St. Michael's Church, Tilden Township, Berks County, and a life member of the Shartlesville Fire Company. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther F., in 1951; a daughter, Betty M. Surviving are a daughter, Jean D. Epler, Shartlesville, with whom she resided; two grandsons; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Michael's Church. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Township. Leibensperger Funeral Homes Inc., Hamburg, is in charge of arrangements.

Trump, Benneville

Benneville Trump, 548 Chestnut St., Emaus, died of the effects of a stroke Sunday morning at the Sacred Heart hospital, where he had been a patient about a week. He was aged 80 years, 9 months and 20 days. Mr. Trump was born in Longswamp, Berks county, a son of the late William and Catherine (Fenstermacher) Trump. Until nine years ago, when he retired because of his age, he had been in the employ of the Donaldson Iron Co. at Emaus for a period of 45 years. He lived in the borough a half century, and was well and favorably known. He was a member of St. John's Reformed church and of the F.P.A. Surviving him are a daughter, Mrs. Louis Grim; two grandchildren, Harold Christman, Emaus, and Mrs. Harold Snyder, Allentown; and a sister, Mrs. Howard N. Knauss, Emaus. His wife was the late Helen (Hensinger) Trump. The funeral will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. from the Reinsmith funeral parlor, 32 N. 4th St., Emaus, with interment to follow in the Lutheran and Reformed cemetery, Emaus. The Rev. D. E. Schaeffer will officiate. Viewing Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Trump, Elmira J. (nee Hensinger)

Elmira J., wife of Benneville Trump, of Emaus, died Tuesday night at the Allentown hospital to which she had been admitted Monday night and operated upon for gall stones. She was born at Longswamp 65 years ago, a daughter of Charles and Lucetta, nee Wetzel, Hensinger. She was a member of St. John's Reformed church, Emaus, and active in the affairs of the Ladies' Aid society of that church and of the home department of the Sunday school. She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Louis Grim, at home; two grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. John Frey, Mrs. Abraham Wavley and Mrs. Eugene Williams, of Emaus, and Mrs. Frank Heberly, this city; three brothers, James, John and Benjamin, Emaus, and two half sisters, Mrs. William Brown, this city, and Anna Skean, Philadelphia. The funeral services will be held at her late home, 548 Chestnut street, Emaus, on Saturday at 1.45 p.m. Interment will be made in the Lutheran and Reformed cemetery, Emaus. Rev. D. E. Schaeffer will officiate.

In Mohrsville, on the 19th Inst., Emma Z. wife of Levi M. Trump, aged 78 years 3 months and 5 days. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral, without further notice, from her late residence, in Mohrsville on Saturday at 1:30 o'clock, Eastern Standard Time. Services in Mohrsville Lutheran Church. Interment in Birch Hill Cemetery, Mohrsville.

Trump, George Reuben

George Reuben Trump, for many years proprietor of a grocery store at his home, 718 South Fifth street, died there at noon Friday from a stroke of apoplexy, which overtook him a short time before. He had appeared to be in his usual health prior to that time. His age was 56 years, 9 months and 15 days. He was a son of the late Jonas and Caroline, nee Moyer, Trump and was born in Longswamp township, Berks county, March 16 1869. There remain his widow, Jennie R., nee Mohry, Trump; two sons, Myron J. and Clayton G., both of this city, and six grandchildren. A daughter Alma preceded him in death. Three sisters and a brother also survive: Mrs. Harvey Haines, Mrs. William A. Strauss and A. J. Trump, all of Allentown, and Mrs. Ida M. Hausman, of Philadelphia. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at his late home, followed by interment in St. Mark's cemetery.

Trump, Glenn R.

Glenn R. Trump, 67, of 73 S. Third St., Hamburg, died Tuesday evening at Reading Hospital & Medical Center, West Reading. Born in Tilden Township, Berks County, he was a son of the late Emerson L. and Naomi E. Wetzel Trump. He was a 1948 graduate of Hamburg High School. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was employed as an electrician for 27 years by Reading Tube Corp., retiring on April 1, 1994. He then worked part-time at King's Market, Hamburg, and was currently employed as an attendant at Kaercher Creek County Park, Windsor Township. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Hamburg, was charter president of Hamburg Parent Teacher Association and a former counselor of the Youth Camp of Pennsylvania National Guard at Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville. Surviving are his wife, the former Anna K. Grim; a son, Brian R., Mohrsville; a daughter, Barbara L. Belsak, New Ringgold; a brother, David A., Catonsville, Md.; a sister, Joan L. Anthony, Strausstown; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today from Leibensperger Funeral Homes Inc., Hamburg. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Township.

Trupe, S. Anna

S. Anna Trupe, 86, died Wednesday at 10 a.m. in her residence at 148 E. Penn Ave., Robesonia. She was the wife of Stephen R. Trupe. Born in Robesonia, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Caroline (Moyer) Startzer. Trupe was employed for 20 years as a coner by the former Caron Spinning Mill and the former Columbia Minerva, both of Robesonia, retiring in 1976. She was a member of St. Pau's United Church of Chirst, Robesonia. Trupe was a 50-year member of Conrad Weiser Chaper 449, Order of Eastern Star, Womelsdorf, and a 50-year charter member of the Robesonia Woman's Clug. She is also survived by a son, Willard G., Robesonia. Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Lamm & Witman Funeral Home Inc., Wernersville. Burial will be in Heidelberg Cemetery, Robesonia.

Trupe, Stephen R.

Stephen R. Trupe, 90, died Tuesday at 7:25 p.m. in his residence at 148 E. Penn Ave., Robesonia. His wife, S. Anna (Startzer) Trupe, died Nov. 20. Born in Denver, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Isaac and Lizzie (Regar) Trupe. Trupe was employed as a cabinet maker by the former Rich-Craft Kitchens, Robesonia, retiring in 1976. He also refinished furniture for many years. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Robesonia. Trupe was a 50-year member of Williamson Lodge 307 F&AM, Womelsdorf. Surviving is a son, Willard G., Robesonia. Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Lamm & Witman Funeral Home Inc., Wernersville. Burial will be in Heidelberg Cmetery, Heidelberg Township.

Trupe, Willard

Willard G. Trupe, retired Robesonia businessman and councilman, died March 5 at 11:45 p.m. in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient since February 5. Trupe, 72, of 328 W. Penn Ave., Robesonia, was the husband of Martha W. (Weinhold) Trupe. He was employed from 1952 to 1974 by Rump & Miller Plumbing & Heating, Robesonia, and was the owner-operator of a plumbing business in Robesonia from 1974 until his retirement June 30. Trupe was former Robesonia councilman for 32 years and served as the boroughs plumbing inspector. Born in Robesonia, he was a son of the late Stephen R. and S. Anna (Startzer) Trupe. Trupe was a 1946 graduate of Robesonia high School. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Robesonia, where he was a consistory member. Trupe was a marine Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was treasurer of the Reading Suburban Plumbing Contractors Association Inc. Trupe was a trustee and past master of Williamson Lodge 307, F&AM, Womelsdorf. He was past commander of Bernville American Legion Post. His wife is his only survivor. Service swill be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in sT. Paul's UCC. Burial will be in Heidelberg Cemetery, Heidelberg Township. Lamm & Witman Funeral Home Inc., Wernersville, is in charge of arrangements.

Tryon, Virginia E.

Virginia E. Tryon, 76, of Stone Ridge Village, Myerstown, died a Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon, where she had been a patient since May 26. Born in Washington, D.C., she was a daughter of the late Roy A. and Ellen V. Hazlett Troutman. She was a member of Altalaha Lutheran Church, Rehrersburg, a life member of Rehrersburg Lionettes and a committeewoman for the Berks County Republican Party in Tulpehocken Township. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob A. Surviving are a son, J. Terry, Lake Wynonah; a daughter, Phyllis J. Shutter, Lancaster; two grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from Hill Funeral Home, Rehrersburg. Interment will be in Altalaha Lutheran Cemetery, Rehrersburg.

Tucci, Joseph M.

A funeral Mass was celebrated for Joseph "Chink" Michael Tucci, 74, husband of Rose Anna (Piotrowicz) Tucci, of South Walnut Street, Birdsboro, who died February 6 in his home. Born in Birdsboro, he retired in 1980 after 32 years as a tool grinder with the Dana Corp. in Pottstown. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Tucci was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Birdsboro. Surviving in addition to his widow are a son, D. Joseph M. Tucci of Roswell, Ga.; a brother, Thomas Milton Tucci of Amityville and two grandchildren. Contributions may be made to the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church Building Fund, 640 E. Main St, Birdsboro, PA 19508. Burial was in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Cemetery in Union Township. The Dengler Funeral Home, Birdsboro, handled the arrangements.

Tupitis, Lidija

Lidija Tupitis, 89, of Richland Township, formerly of Latvia, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002 at St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital, Quakertown. Funeral services were held Dec. 21. Interment was in St. Stephen's United Church of Christ Cemetery, Perkasie. She was the wife of the late Eduards Tupitis. Born in Aizpute, Latvia, she was the daughter of the late Karlis and Auguste (Putnaerglis) Ernstsons. She had been employed as a seamstress for the Phoenix clothing factory, Quakertown. Prior to that, she worked for the William Fretz and Sons Pants factory, Bedminster, Harvey Clothing, Quakertown and Shawnee-Penn Manufacturing, Quakertown. She retired in 1979. She was a member of the Bucks County Latvian Baptist Church, Applebachsville. She sang in church choirs in Latvia and Germany. She is survived by: one daughter, Vizma Tupitis, of Richland Township; three sisters, Anna Reinis, of Quakertown, Lilija Kimanska, of Latvia and Rasma Chamberlin, of San Jose, Calif. She was predeceased by a brother, Alfred Ernstsons. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bucks County Latvian Baptist Church Help Fund, 1142 Apple Road, Quakertown, PA 18951. Turner, David

David Turner died Friday morning at the home of his sister, Mrs. Sadie Weidenhamer, in Kutztown, aged 31 years. He was a former resident of Lynnport, Lehigh County. Surviving are his mother, five sisters and four brothers, Mrs. Jennie Bachut, New Ringgold; Mrs. Sadie Weidenhamer, at whose home he died; Rosie, Reading; Mrs. Katie King, Mrs. Edith Adams, John, Francis and Charles Turner, Reading; and Harrison Turner, Kutztown. He was a son of Rosie (Berk) and the late David Turner. Services Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Jacob's church, Jacksonville, the Rev. Clarence R. Rahn officiating.

Turner, Dorothy M.

Services were held for Dorothy M. Turner, 71, of Exeter Township, who died December 29 in St. Joseph Medical Center, where she had been a patient. She was the wife of Howard R. Turner. Born in Reading, Turner served as the former financial secretary of the Ladies Auxiliary of Berks Firemen. She additionally served as past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Stonersville Fire Company. Turner is also survived by two sons, George Sr., Exeter Township, and U.S. Army Lt. Col. Richard Turner, Brussels, Belgium. There are also two grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Spring Township. The Auman Funeral Home, Reiffton, handled the arrangements.

Turner, Harry D.

In ill health for the past two years, Harry D. Turner passed away at his home, near Lyons, Berks county, Friday night, aged 43 years. He was the son of Rosa B., nee Berg, Turner, and the late David Turner and was a native of Schuylkill county. He had successfully conducted a farm near Lyons for a number of years. Surviving to mourn his loss are his widow, Eva, nee Dry, Turner; his mother, Rosa Turner, Reading; five sisters, Mrs. Jennie Bachert, New Ringgold; Mrs. Solon Weidenhammer, Kutztown; Mrs. Winton King, Reading; Ross, Reading, and Mrs. Howard Adams, Reading; five brothers, John, Charles, Francis, Reading; David, Lynnport, and Harrison, Lyons. Funeral services will be held from his late home on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., standard time, with further services in the Dryville church, Rev. William H. Kline officiating. Interment will take place in Hope cemetery, Kutztown.

Turner, Richard Sr.

Richard Turner, Senior, died at his home on South Reading Avenue, Thursday morning, of general debility. He was 75 years old. Deceased was a native of [Falmouth] Cornwall County, England, but came to America about 45 years ago [Turner immigrated in 1954, 54 years prior to his death]. He lived in Boyertown nearly all of this time, and for many years was a mine worker [at the Boyertown Ore plant until it ceased operations]. He has lived retired the last 16 years. Deceased was one of the oldest Odd Fellows in the State, having become a member of Pottstown Lodge nearly forty years ago. His wife [Maria nee Walters, born native of England] and two children survive him. Richard, residing at home, whose wife [Sallie (nee Berks) Turner ] was one of the victims of the Opera House fire, and Lillie, wife of Franklin L. Ritter, who lost a daughter [Annie E. Ritter, age 19] in the Opera House Fire. [Also one sister Miss Ann Parker, Samouth, England also remains]. Deceased was an exemplary citizen and a man of sterling character. He was of a jovial disposition and was a friend to everybody. He was in failing health for several years, but was bedfast only a few days. Deceased was a consistent member of the Methodist church, and rarely ever missed a service. The funeral will take place next Tuesday. Services will be held at the house and Fairview chapel. Interment will follow on the family burial plot in Fairview Cemetery.

Turner, Richard Sr.

The funeral of Richard Turner Sr., took place Tuesday morning from his late residence on South Reading Avenue. Services were held in Fairview Chapel and Rev. John Flint of Spring City, formerly pastor of the M. E. Church here preached the funeral sermon. Interment was made in Fairview Cemetery.

The tributes were: Sheaf of wheat, links, I. O. O. F., No. 708; sago family; Odd Fellows design, three palms, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Jones; sago palms, friend; bouquet of purple asters, Mrs. Floyd. Mr. Turner was the oldest member of Madison Lodge, No. 46, I. O. O. F., Pottstown. He joined the order as a charter member in 1869. Six members of the local order were the bearers. They were: Henry Wien, Harry Swinehart, George Mountjoy, Henry Kulp, Henry Wise, Levi Lefever. Funeral Director J. J. Brown had charge.

Turner, Richard Sr.

Richard Turner, Sr., of Boyertown died this morning at 6:40 o'clock of a complication of diseases at his home on Reading Avenue, aged 75 years. He was in fairly good healthy until Wednesday, when he was suddenly taken ill. Mr. Turner was one of the best known men of the community. He settled there 45 years ago. He was born at Falmouth, England; was an experienced miner by occupation and followed out that trade all his life.

He worked in the Boyertown ore mines until that plant ceased operations. He leaves his widow, Maria (nee Walter), also a native of England, and two children, Lillian, wife of Frank Ritter, and Richard Turner, Jr., both of Boyertown. One sister Miss Ann Parker, Samouth, England also remains.

Funeral, Tuesday, August 25, at 10 a.m. at the house. Services at Fairview Chapel and interment in Fairview Cemetery.

Twilger, William J.

Private services and burial was arranged by the Hetrick Funeral Home, Womelsdorf, for William J. Twilger, 76, Route 419, Tulpehocken Township, who died Oct. 29 in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient three days. He was predeceased by his first wife, Shirley (Whitmer) Twilger, in October 1989, and by his second wife, Artney (Lloyd) Twilger, in November 1991. Born in Pottsville, he was a son of the late William and Anna (Wolfe) Twilger. Until retiring in 1995, he was employed as a supervisor by Continental Box Co., Philadelphia. Surviving are a daughter, Karen A. (Twilger) Fantozzi, Tulpehocken Township, with whom he resided; and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, William J. Twilger, who died in 1953.

Tyack, Rose

In this city, on the 6th. Mrs. Rose widow of the late William H Tyack aged 54 years. The relatives and friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the residence of her son James Tyack northwest corner of 7th and Penn, on Monday, Sept. 10, at 8:30 o'clock a.m. Services at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Tyler, Carl William

Services and burial were private for Carl William Tyler, 45, who died February 24 in his residence on Gibraltar Road, Exeter Township. Born in Flint, Mich., he was employed for several years as an assembly worker by Threshold Services, Reading, last working in 2000. He is survived by two brothers. The Walter R. Tyson, Austin R.

Austin R. Tyson, 66, died at his home at Kempton yesterday afternoon after an illness of two months. He had been a carpenter in the employ of the Reading Railroad for the last 38 years. He also was a member of the Goodwill Fire Company, Kempton, and the Reading Company YMCA. Born in Albany Township, he was a son of the late Joseph T. and Polly Fenstermacher Tyson. He is survived by the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Victoria I. Bailey, Orlando, Fla.; Ellen, wife of Bert Kunkle, Kutztown; Lillie, wife of Lewis Smith, Kempton; Chester, Lenhartsville; Edgar L., Kutztown R. 3; Mrs. Mercy Roth, Kempton R. 1; Mrs. Florence Adams, Sinking Springs; and Elsie, wife of Wirt Reinhart, Kempton.

Tyson, Carrie (nee Sterner)

Mrs. Carrie Tyson, wife of Milton A. Tyson, of Mohrsville R. 1, died yesterday in St. Joseph's Hospital, Reading, at the age of 58. She was the daughter of Sarah (Moser) Sterner and the late William Sterner, a native of Lehigh County. Her activities included membership in New Bethel Zion Lutheran Church and the ladies auxiliary of Shoemakersville Fire Company. In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by the following children: Paul Tyson, Fleetwood R. 1; Anna, wife of John Schlearn, Mohrsville R. 1; Elda Seyler, Oley, Pa.; Edgar Tyson, Hamburg R.D.; Pearl Koller, Shirley, wife of Warren Schappell, Kenneth and Allan, all at home. There are also eight grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Delia, wife of Irwin Kerschner, Shoemakersville R.D.; Lizzie, wife of William Seidel, Connecticut; Henry Sterner, Slatington; Granville Sterner, Kutztown R.D.; William Sterner, New Ringgold R.D; Mahlon Sterner, Slatington, and Mable, wife of Clarence Riegel, Kempton R.D.

Tyson, Harold L.

Services were held in the Edward J. Hildenbrand Funeral Home, Kutztown, for Harold L. Tyson, of the Lutheran Home at Topton, who died Feb. 16 in Lehigh Valley Hospital. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Centre Township. Born in Kutztown, he was a son of the late Edgar and Florence (Wessner) Tyson. Until retiring, he was employed by the Kutztown Shoe Factory. He was a member of New Jerusalem Zion United Church of Christ, Krumsville. Surviving are a sister, Ruth (Tyson) Schmoyer, Deland, Fla.

Tyson, Hobart W.

Reading, Pa., (AP) Rev. Hobart W. Tyson, 52, a rural Berks county Lutheran pastor, died Tuesday of a heart attack. He officiated at services on Sunday. Rev. Tyson was a native of Catawissa. He served as an army chaplain during World War II, and was in the infantry during World War I. Rev. Dr. Emil E. Fischer, president of the Lutheran ministerium of Pennsylvania, will officiate at services Friday at 11 a.m. in Christ Lutheran church, Spangsville. Further services will be held at 3:30 p.m. in St. John's Lutheran church, Catawissa. Rev. Tyson is survived by his widow, Mary S. Tyson; a son, Rev. Dean E. Tyson, assistant pastor of Hope Lutheran church, Detroit, Mich.; and two daughters, Joann, wife of Rev. E. P. Weber, Lutheran student pastor at Purdue university, West Lafayette, Ind.; and Elinor N., wife of Rev. Charles Aurand, pastor of Grace Lutheran church, Sunbury.

Joseph Tyson, one of Greenwich township's oldest residents, died yesterday at his home at Krumsville, aged 75 years, 2 months and 25 days. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Oliver F., Indiana; Victoria, widow of Frank Bailey, Kutztown; Ellen M., wife of Bert Kunkle; Lillie M., wife of Lewis Smith; Martha, wife of Edgar Roth, and Elsie, wife of Wirt Reinhart, Kempton; Austin R., Reading; Chester D. and Edgar L., Lenhartsville; Florence, wife of Irvin Adams, Montecello. The following brothers and sisters and seventeen grandchildren also survive: Ellen, widow of Martin Weaver, Allentown; Mary, wife of David Bleiler, Kutztown; Daniel, Bowers; Jess, Fogelsville, and Samuel, Kempton. The funeral will be held from his late home at Krumsville on Tuesday at 9.30 o'clock. Services and interment will follow in Zions church and cemetery. Rev. Ira Klick and Rev. J. L. Brumbach, both of Kutztown, will be in charge.

Josephine (Albright), wife of Charles J. Tyson, died this morning at her home, 820 Chestnut street, aged 74 years. Surviving are her husband, two sons and two daughters. Funeral private, on Monday, in charge of the Greenawalt Funeral Home.
