Diaz, Craige A.

Craige A. Diaz, 48, of Stroudsburg passed away suddenly in Bloomsburg Hospital after a work-related accident May 14, 2003. He was the husband of Pattie (Kocher) Diaz. They were married on Oct. 5, 2002. Born in Allentown he was the son of Ronald B. Diaz and the late Shirley E. (Gogle) Diaz. Mr. Diaz had been employed for most of his life as a mechanical and electrical technician. He was currently employed for over eight years with Emergency Systems Service Company, Quakertown. In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by one son, Craige R. of Effort; four step-children, Julianna Tobing of Manyunk, Aimee Swint, Mia Tobing, and Alexander Tobing, all of Easton; two sisters, Robin L. Lutcher of Perkasie and Shawne D. Diaz of Manchester, N.H.; mother-in-law, Josephine Kocher of Easton; and one step-grandson. Services were held May 19. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Network of Victim Assistance (NOVA), 16 N.Franklin St. Suite 105, Doylestown, PA 18901. DiBenedetto, June V.

Services were held for June V. DiBenedetto, 79, of Schoffers Road, Exeter Township, who died August 18 in Beverly Manor, Exeter Township, where she had resided for two years. Born in Reading, she was a graduate of Reading High School. Surviving is a daughter, Denise Drogo, Exeter Township. Other survivors include a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter in 1986. Burial was in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton. The arrangements were handled by the Henninger Funeral Home Inc., Reading.

DiCamillo, Fiorella

Funeral Services for Fiorella, nine-month-old child of Mr. and Mrs. James D. DiCamillo, of Muhlenberg township, were conducted by Rev. Dr. Eugene J. Marchetti. The remains were interred in Gethsemane cemetery by Undertaker Auman.

Dice, Thomas C.

Services will be Friday for Thomas C. "Tippy" Dice, 53, husband of Bonnie (Badman) Dice of Gravel Pike, Perkiomenville, who died December 7 at Grand View Hospital, Sellersville. Born in Sellersville, he was a son of Frank J. Dice Sr. of Green Lane and the late Marian (Schell) Dice. Dice was a contractor, working most recently for Advantage Construction, Trappe. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a former member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Sumneytown. Also a member of the Lower Frederick and Green Lane Fire companies. In addition to his wife of 16 years, he is survived by two sons, Christopher Stanley of Royersford and Justin Dice of Perkiomenville; two daughters, Jennifer Poley of Macungie and Kelly Dice of Perkiomenville. Also a brother; a sister and five grandchildren. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Falk Funeral Home, 163 Main St., Pennsburg. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Luke's Cancer Center, 800 Ostrum St., Bethlehem, PA 18015. Burial will be in St. Mark's Lutheran Cemetery, Pennsburg.

Dick, Adella F.

Adella F. Dick, 87, of Quakertown (Richland Township), died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002 at LifeQuest Nursing Center, Quakertown. A memorial service was held Nov. 9. She was the wife of the late Pastor Walter J. Dick. Born in Mt. Lake, Minn., she was the daughter of the late Abraham P. and Agatha (Neufeld) Fast. She was an active member of East Swamp Mennonite Church, Quakertown, where she formerly directed the meal preparation for the senior adult ministry from 1986 to 1993 and also assisted in visitation until 1999. She received her diploma after three years of studying at Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, Ill. She served in the ministry with her husband at the Second Mennonite Church in Philadelphia and the Richfield (PA) Mennonite Church from 1949 to 1960 as pastor's wife, co-worker and homemaker. From 1965 to 1984, she served as the director of food service at the Montrose Bible Conference, where her husband was the director. She is survived by: two daughters, Marcellyn of Cherry Hill, N.J. and Millicent of Wheaton, Ill.; eight brothers, Arnold Fast of Minnesota, Alvin Fast of Florida, Frances Becker of Washington, Fernando Fast of Oregon, Sam Fast of Maine, Harry Fast of Minnesota, Herbert fast of Minnesota and Arlie Fast of Minnesota; three sisters, Lila Neufeld, Leslie Fast of Denver, Colo. and Alice Bruesehoff of California. Dickinson, Caroline L. (nee Worley)

Dickinson, Caroline L. (Worley), wife of Nelson Dickinson, Mohnton, Pa., was a daughter of the late Henry and Isabella Worley, and was born at Mohnton, June 18, 1868, and died March 27, 1949, aged 80 years, 9 months, and 10 days. Mrs. Dickinson was a Charter Member of Zion Evangelical Congregational Church, for she joined the Evangelical Church in Mohnton, February, 1879, under the pastorate of Rev. H. R. Yost. A total of 70 years were given to the Church of her choice. She and Mr. Dickinson celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, for they were married Dec. 14, 1889, by Rev. B. H. Miller.

Surviving besides her husband are Estella, wife of Elmer C. Leininger, Mohns Hill; Raymond W., of Shillington; seven grandchildren and six great granchildren; and one brother, Charles Worley. Services were conducted March 31 from Kindt Memorial Home, and interment was made at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mohnton. May God comfort the hearts of those who mourn her departure from this life. __E. D. Dickinson, Nelson W.

Dickinson, Nelson W., aged 82 years, died October 30, 1950 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Elmer C. Leininger, Mohn's Hill. He was a native of Mohnton, residing in that borough practically his whole lifetime, making his home with his daughter since the death of his wife, Caroline L. (Worley) Dickinson, March, 1949. He was the son of the late Nelson and Mary (Westley) Dickinson. A member of Zion Evangelical Congregational Church, Mohnton, Pa., since early youth, he was for more than 50 years a teacher in the Sunday School, and served successively in most of the offices of the congregation. He continued a member of the board of trustees until the time of his death. Surviving are a daughter, Estella A., wife of Elmer C. Leininger with whom he resided; a son Raymond W. Dickinson, Shillington, Pa.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two half brothers; and one half sister: Howard F. Kindt of Reading, Pa.; and Jacob and Mary E. Kindt, both of Shillington. Dickson, Susan J. (nee Clauser)

Mrs. Susan J. Dickson, 84, formerly of Topton, died Monday night at Berks Heim, near Reading. She was the widow of James C. Dickson. Born in Topton, Mrs. Dickson was a daughter of the late Adam and Caroline (Angstadt) Clauser. She was also predeceased by her first husband, Chester L. Hilbert. Her only son, Willard Hilbert, died March 26. Surviving are a foster daughter, Mrs. Grace Scheidt of Kutztown; a brother, Edwin Clauser of Mertztown R. 1; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Earl A. Trexler Funeral Home, 25 E. Weiss St., Topton. Viewing will be 7-8:30 p.m. Friday.

Diefenderfer, Dennis P.

Dennis P. Diefenderfer died of typhoid pneumonia at his home in Reading, aged 62 years. Mr. Diefenderfer had been ill for 10 days, prior to which time he worked at his trade, that of coach trimming and painting. Deceased was a native of Allentown, but lived in Reading the past 16 years. He leaves six sons --- Charles, George, Oscar and Jacob Diefenderfer, Reading, and John and Dennis Diefenderfer, Philadelphia; two daughters, Jennie, wife of Chas. H. Rightmyer, and Annie M., wife of Albert Wetzel, both living in Reading, and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Daniel Reider, Reading; Mrs. Elemina Seip, Mrs. Daniel Focht and Abraham Diefenderfer, Allentown, and Edwin Straus, Tiffin, Ohio.

Diefenderfer, Elenora

Elenora, wife of Edwin Diefenderfer, died at 1.30 o'clock Thursday afternoon of consumption. She was bedfast since Sunday. Deceased was 31 years, 8 months and 24 days of age. She was born in Topton and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Smoyer, of that place. She is survived by her husband and two children, Harry W. and Luther E. Diefenderfer, and the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Wm. Reppert, Emma Smoyer, Frank Smoyer and Nicholas, of Mertztown. Deceased was a member of the Trexlertown Church.

Diefenderfer, Rosa (nee Fritch)

Mrs. Rosa (Fritch) Diefenderfer of 30 N. 16th St., Allentown, wife of John F. Diefenderfer, died yesterday at her home after a 10-year illness. She was 91. Born in Mertztown, she was a daughter of the late Tilghman and Esther (Fegley) Fritch. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Allentown. On Jan. 2, she and her husband marked their 68th wedding anniversary. Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Mrs. Miriam F. Bassler, of Allentown, and Esther, wife of William A. Riegel, Philadelphia; two sons, Wilbur F. and Paul T., both of Allentown; two brothers, Paul of Allentown and Roscoe of Reading; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the J. S. Burkholder Funeral Home, 1601 Hamilton St., Allentown, with calling hours from noon Monday until the time of funeral.

Diehl, C. Lizzie (nee Kuhns)

Mrs. C. Lizzie Diehl, 85, nee Kuhns, wife of Frank L. B. Diehl, died unexpectedly at 5 a.m. Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Paul Bergenstock, 23 N. Penn St. Born in Hereford township, Berks county, she was a daughter of the late Leon and Julianna (Kuhns) Kuhns. She had lived in Allentown for the past 40 years. Mrs. Diehl was a member of the Reformed win of Morgenland church. Besides her husband she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lottie Bergenstock and Libby, wife of frank Huber, both of Allentown, and a son Elmer, Fullerton. Also surviving are six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Diehl, Elsie L.

Mrs. Elsie L. Diehl, 54, wife of Clarence I. Diehl, 212 Church St., Alburtis, died yesterday in Allentown Hospital. She had been in ill health for the past five years. She was born in Berks County, a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Kline) Gressley. She was a member of the Longswamp Church of the Lutheran Tribe, Alburtis, and the ladies Auxiliary of the Alburtis Fire Co. In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Ernest, Maxatawny, and Robert, Alburtis; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Katt, Alburtis; Dolores, wife of Ernest Haas, Landis Store; four grandchildren; three brothers, John, William and Harvey, all of Mertztown R. 1; three sisters, Mrs. Dewey Meck, of Topton; Mrs. Erma Edelman, of Emmaus, and Mrs. Walter Wagner, of Allentown. She was also predeceased by a brother. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Schmoyer Funeral Home, Breinigsville.

Diehl, Mrs. Henry (nee Fegely)

Mrs. Diehl, wife of Mr. Henry Diehl, farmer, residing near the Station at Vera Cruz, Upper Milford tsp., died with alarming suddenness on Wednesday forenoon last. Her husband was the first to get up in the morning. The wife rested awhile longer, and in getting up did so very hurriedly, and in the act, as is believed by the family physician, who was soon after called, fractured her peritoneum, the thin smooth serous membrane investing the whole internal surface of the abdomen, and, more or less completely, all the viscera contained in it. It is said that in stepping from the bed to the floor, Mrs. D. Gave herself considerable force, and that she immediately after sank down helpless. Her husband was quickly apprised of the happening, and one coming to hand lifted her up and placed her in bed again. The physician called into attendance did all that medical science could suggest to save her, but in vain, her case steadily progressing from bad to worse until an hour or two later she was relieved of her sufferings by death. She had the evening before, on retiring, was in her usual good health. She was a born Fegely, a daughter of Mrs. John Fegely, formerly of Mertztown, by her first husband, a Mr. Fetterman. The mother now resides at Heineymansville, Weisenburg tsp. The deceased was about 36 years of age, and left besides her sadly mourning husband, five children. She was a sister of Mr. Hiram Fetterman, of this city, of Mrs. Becker, residing at Emaus, and of Mrs. Bieber, of Kutztown. Beloved and esteemed by all who knew her, her sudden death caused much sorrow among her friends. The bereaved husband and children left behind have the heartfelt sympathy of all their acquaintances in this, their time of sorrow.

Diehl, Lillian R.

Services were held for Lillian R. Diehl, 87, of Jenkintown, who died February 23. She was the widow of Joseph Diehl, who died in 1992, and to whom she was married 51 years. Born in Boyertown, she graduated from Boyertown High School in 1935, and in 1939 from Temple University with a teaching degree. She taught at Souderton High School from 1939-1947, where she met her husband, who was also a teacher. Diehl attended Glenside United Church of Christ. She is survived by a daughter Maryann Glynn, Roslyn. Also a brother, C. Linwood Rhoads, of Boyertown; and two granddaughters. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 625 Ridge Pike - A100, Conshohocken, PA 19428 or to the American Cancer Society, 1626 Locust St., Philadelphia, PA 19103. Burial was in the Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville, Pa. The arrangements were handled by the John R. Freed Funeral Home in Glenside.

Diehl, Viola

A private graveside service was held for Viola Diehl, 93, of Life Quest Nursing Center in Milford, formerly of West Branch Road in Barto, who died June 2 in Life Quest. Born in Barto, she lived and worked on the Diehl family farm, raising turkeys and growing crops. She was a life member of Christ Lutheran Church of Niantic. Surviving is a sister. She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Services were at Christ Union Cemetery in Niantic. The Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home of East Greenville handled the arrangements.

Diehl, Willard LeRoy

Accidentally shot by his older brother on Thursday night, Willard LeRoy Diehl, of near Topton, died yesterday at the Allentown hospital. His brother Paul was cleaning a .22 caliber rifle in preparation for a hunting trip Friday when the supposedly unloaded gun discharged, sending a bullet into Willard's left side, puncturing his spleen. An emergency operation was performed upon the youth's admittance to the institution late Thursday night. Diehl, who was 17 years old, was a son of earl and Beulah, nee Gaston, Diehl, of near Topton. He was graduated from Kutztown High school last June and assisted his father and brother in the operation of the family farm. He was a member of the Future Farms of America, Pioneer Grange No. 1777 of Topton, and the Reformed church, Mertztown. Survivors are his parents, a brother Paul, and a sister Evelyn, all at home, and his maternal grandfather, Ira Gaston, New Tripoli. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the late residence near Topton with the Rev. Ralph Althouse officiating. Further services in St. Paul's Reformed church, Mertztown. Interment in Ebenezer cemetery, New Tripoli.

Mrs. Carolina Diener, wife of Mr. Peter Diener, of Topton, died in St. Luke's hospital, at Bethlehem, on Friday last, after having undergone a surgical operation for the removal of an internal cancer. She was a daughter of the late Samuel Folk, of Weisenburg township. Mrs. William Zimmerman and Mrs. Amos Zimmerman, of Weisenburg, are sisters of the deceased, and Matilda, wife of James Neff, Kate, wife of Charles Schmoyer, Mary, wife of Abraham Treichler, Sarah, wife of Albert Ziegler, of Weisenburg, Eliza, wife of David Smith, of Maxatawny, and Benjamin Folk, of Weisenburg, are step-sisters and step-brothers of the deceased. The husband and the following children survive; Elias, Oscar, Fred, and Lizzie, residing at home; William A., of Mertztown; Kate, wife of Eugene Fegely, of Maxatawny; Mary, wife of Moses Kutz, of Lyons, and Emma, wife of James Trexler, of Mertztown. The funeral takes place at Mertztown to-morrow. Rev. B. E. Kramlich and M. H. Brensinger will officiate.

Caroline, wife of Peter Diener, of Topton, died at St. Luke's Hospital, South Bethlehem, where she had gone to undergo an operation for cancer. The heart and kidneys became affected and death resulted. She was 65 years of age. Deceased was a daughter of Samuel Folk, of Weisenburg township, Lehigh county, with his first wife. Mrs. William Zimmerman and Mrs. Amos Zimmerman, of Weisenberg, are sisters of deceased, and Matilda, wife of James Neff; Kate, wife of Charles Schmoyer; Mary, wife of Abraham Treichler; Sarah, wife fo Albert Ziegler, of weisenburg; Eliza, wife of David Smith, of Maxatawny, and Benjamin Folk, of Weisenburg, are step-sisters and step-brother of deceased. Mrs. Cora M. Diener, wife of Fred A. Diener, of Weiss St., Topton, died yesterday morning in St. Joseph's hospital at Reading. Mrs. Diener was born in Philadelphia, a daughter of the late Jonathan and hannah, nee George, Schoenly. She was married twice, being preceded in death by her first husband, Leon Mazurie. Surviving are her second husband; a son, Lewis Mazurie, proprietor of the Henningsville Hotel, Alburtis R.D.; three grandchildren and these brothers and sisters: Mrs. Joseph Hill, Trenton, N.J.; Charles Schoenly and Mrs. Henry Freed, Allentown, and Grant Schoenly, Dayton, N.J. The funeral will be held at 1:30 o'clock Saturday at her late home, with continued services in the Lutheran church at Zionsville. Interment will be made in the adjoining cemetery. The Rev. D. C. Kaufman of Emaus will officiate.

Diener, Elias

Elias Diener, pioneer saw mill operator in the South Mountain section of Topton, died there Monday evening at 5.30 o'clock, at his home on Franklin street, from complications, aged 76 years and 1 month. Mr. Diener was a respected and well known resident of that section. He was a native of Longswamp township and a son of the late Peter and Caroline, nee Folk, Diener. For a period of thirty-five years he was a member of st. Paul's Reformed church council, Mertztown, and was also a member of Washington Camp, No. 396, P.O.S. of A., Hellam, Pa., and the Kutztown Golden Eagles. He never married. There survives the following sisters and brothers, Mrs. James Trexler, Mrs. Kate Fegely, Oscar and Fred, Topton, and William, Allentown. The funeral will be held from his late home on Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock, standard time. Services will be conducted at the house, Rev. M. H. Brensinger, D.D., officiating. Interment will be made in the Mertztown cemetery.

Diener, Frederick Alvin

Frederick Alvin Diener, a Justice of the Peace, died at 6.45 a.m. yesterday at his home, Weiss St., Topton. He was 68 years old. Son of the late Peter and Caroline, nee Folk, Diener, he was born at what is now the Lutheran Orphans' Home farm. His wife, Cora Mazurie, nee Schoenly, Diener, died four years ago. Surviving are a step-son, Lewis Mazurie, of Maple Grove hotel, three step-grand children, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. James L. Trexler, Mrs. Kate Fegely, and C. Oscar Diener, all of Topton; and William A. Diener, of Allentown. The funeral will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. (DST) from the late home, with continued services in the Lutheran church of Zionsville. Interment in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. E. C. Kauffman of Emmaus will officiate. Viewing Thursday from 7 to 9.

Mrs. Katie Alice Diener, wife of C. Oscar Diener and daughter of an officer of the Union army during the Civil war, died shortly before 11.30 yesterday morning at her home, 210 S. Home St., Topton. Death followed an illness with a heart condition. She was 71 years old last week. Mrs. Diener was born in Molltown, Berks county, the daughter of the late Captain Nicholas Howard Sell and his wife, Amanda, DeTurk, Sell. She lived in that vicinity practically all of her life. She was a member of st. Peter's Reformed church, the Ladies Aid society of the congregation and the Home department of the Sunday school. She is survived by her husband and these children: Edna, a teacher in the Boyertown schools; Myrtle, a teacher in the Palmerton schools, both living at home; Mrs. George D. Sittler, Kutztown, and Theodore S. Diener of Lyons. Three grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held from her late home Saturday at 1.30 p.m., with further services in St. Peter's Reformed church, Topton. Interment will be made in the Topton Union cemetery. Rev. F. D. Slifer will officiate. Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Born in Henningsville, Berks county, she was a daughter of the late Aaron and Maria (Seisholtzville) Rohrbach. She was a member of Huffs Lutheran Church. Surviving are her husband, two sons, Eli R. Will, Nutley, N.J., and Walter W., East Greenville; two daughters, Elizabeth M., wife of Roy Rock, Washington, D.C., and Edna M., wife of Edwin W. Hill, Washington, D.C.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Annie (Bleiler), wife of Howard Dierolf, died on Tuesday at her home, near Bechtelsville, aged 42 years. She was a daughter of John and Isabella (Bower) Bleiler. Surviving are her husband; seven children: John, Marie, Annabelle, Erma, George and Edna, at home, and Mae, Birdsboro; a half-brother, Eugene Bensinger, Topton; two brothers and two sisters, John Y. Bleiler, Hancock; Thomas Bleiler, Topton; Mrs. Carrie DeLong, Easton; and Mrs. Mamie Missimer, Annville. Funeral Tuesday, November 5, at 1.30 p.m. from the home.

Arthur Russell Dierolf, four-month-old son of James and Lulu (Ruhf) Dierolf, Fredericksville, Berks county, died Sunday morning in the Allentown hospital from pneumonia. Survivors include the parents, a brother, William, at home; three sisters, Sarah, Helen, Carrie, all at home; the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Rose Dierolf, Manatawny, Berks county; the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Ruhf, Lobachsville. Services will be held Wednesday 1:30 p.m. (DST) at the Schofer Funeral home, Topton. Interment in the New Jerusalem cemetery. Viewing Tuesday 7-9 p.m. The Rev. Earl Wolford will officiate.

Dierolf, Benjamin Franklin

Benjamin Franklin Dierolf, residing on Franklin street, Alburtis, and an employe of the Thomas Iron Co., at that place, died at noon yesterday from chronic nephritis, aged 33 years. He had been ill for eight weeks. The funeral will be held next Monday at 9.30 a.m. with services and interment at the Mertztown church, Rev. F. K. Bernd, of Kutztown, officiating. He was a son of Catherine (Reinert) and the late Levi Dierolf, and he is survived by his mother residing at Hancock, and his wife, nee Stella Minner, and the following children: Lloyd, Margaret and Curvey, all at home, and these brothers and sisters: Harry, of Hancock; Jacob and Mrs. John Barto, of Topton; Mrs. Ed. Marcks and Mrs. Milton Schlenker, of Reading; also a step-brother and a step-sister, John Reinert, of Henningsville, and Sarah Reinert, of Pottstown.

WERNERSVILLE — Callie (Hilbert) Dierolf, formerly of Topton, died at Wernersville State Hospital here Friday. She was 74. She was the widow of Harry Dierolf. Her first husband was the late Manoah Webb. Born in Longswamp Township, Berks County, she was a daughter of the late Augustus and Ellemanda (Heffner) Hilbert. She was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Longswamp Union Church, Mertztown R. 1. Surviving her are a son, John of Frederick, Montgomery County; three daughters, Eva, wife of Nicholas Pergola, and Verna, wife of John Helbert, all of Reading, and Leah, wife of Howard Landis, with whom she had resided in Topton; three brothers, Herbert and Fred, Mertztown R. 1, and William, Douglassville, Berks County; two sisters, Sallie, wife of Edgar Geist, Topton, and Mrs. Gertrude Smith, Kutztown R. 2; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Earl A. Trexler Funeral Home, 25 E. Weiss St., Topton. Viewing will be 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday.

Caroline (nee Oswald), widow of John Dierolf, died of general debility at Topton, Wednesday at the home of her son, Frank J. Dierolf, aged seventy-five years. She is survived by a brother, Jonathan Oswald, Wescoesville, and two sons, Oliver C. Sigler, Reading, by a former marriage, and Frank J. Eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral Tuesday morning.

Dierolf, Catherine S.

Catherine S. Dierolf, 93, formerly of West Lawn, died April 10 at 12:10 p.m. in Berks Heim, where she had been a resident since January 2004. Her husband, Elwood S. Dierolf, died Feb. 22, 1989. Born in Kutztown, she was a daughter of the late William L. and Cora I. (Kline) Scheidt. Dierolf had been last employed as a utility cook by Reeser's Restaurant, later Wegman's, Tuckerton, retiring in 1993. She previously worked for National Union, Robesonia, and in the finishing department of Rosedale Knitting Mills, Laureldale. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Tuckerton. Dierolf is survived by two daughters, Sandra L. (Dierolf) Kunkle, West Lawn, and Shirley L. Dierolf, Reading; and a stepdaughter, Helen (Dierolf) Reinert, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. There are also two granddaughters, one stepgrandson and six great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be at a later date in the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Hamburg. Burial will be private.

Charles A. Dierolf, husband of the late Amanda S. Rohrbach, died last night at his home in Old Zionsville. He was 87 years old. Born in Longswamp, Berks County, he was a son of the late William and Sarah Moyer Dierolf. He was a member of the Huffs Lutheran Church at Huff's Church. Survivors include two stepsons, Eli R. Will, of Nutley, N.J., and Walter S. Will, East Greenville, and two stepdaughters, Elizabeth M., wife of Roy Rock, and Edna M., wife of Edwin H. Hill, both of Washington, D.C. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday from the Hoffman Funeral Home, 221 Main St., East Greenville.

Dierolf, Frank A.

Frank A. Dierolf, 63, of 1216 S. Race St., died yesterday afternoon as the result of a heart attack. Mr. Dierolf was stricken while working as a maintenance man for the Sheldon Weaving Co., and died in an ambulance on the way to his home. Mr. Dierolf was a long time figure in the local boxing fraternity, and for the last dozen years served as an official State Athletic Commission timekeeper at Lehigh Valley boxing and wrestling bouts. Born in Longswamp township, Berks county, he was a son of the late William and Emaline (Moyer) Dierolf. He was a member of Zionsville Lutheran church and LOOM, Quakertown. Surviving are his wife, Lizzie (Lenhart) Dierolf, two daughters, Mabel, wife of J. Clifford Haas, Schwenkville; Florence, wife of Marcus Shelly, Coopersburg; two brothers, Milton, Boyertown; James, Quakertown; and three sisters, Mrs. Frank Moyer, Bally; Mrs. Amandus Angstadt, Schwenkville; and Mrs. Henry Beltz, Ziegelsville.

Dierolf, Frank J.

Frank J. Dierolf, a retired hotelkeeper, died Friday evening at his residence, 25 E. Smith St., Topton. He was aged 69. He was born and raised in Longswamp township, Berks county, a son of the late John and Caroline, nee Oswald, Dierolf. For 25 years he conducted the American House in Topton. He retired 10 years ago and had been in ill health for the last four years after suffering a stroke. He was a member of trinity Lutheran church of Topton, the Shartlesville Fire Co., the F.O.E. of Kutztown, the P.O.S. of A. of Topton, the Knights of the Golden Eagle of Topton and the Federated Order of Reindeer of Reading. Surviving are his widow Ellen (nee Fegely), one son, Frank of Wyomissing, six daughters, Mrs. Andrew Schofer, Topton; Mrs. Edna Bohn, Reading; Mrs. Clayton Fegely, Topton; Mrs. Raymond Werst, Topton; Mrs. John G. Schofer, Topton, and Mrs. Paul Schleicher, Topton; 17 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one step-brother, Oliver Sittler, of Reading. Funeral services will be held from the late residence on Thursday at 2 o'clock. All services in the house. Interment in St. Paul's cemetery, Mertztown. Rev. William H. Kline will officiate.

Dierolf, John F.

John F. Dierolf, Smith street, Topton, night watchman at the Penn State silk mills there and formerly engaged in farming and labor work, died on Wednesday in the Allentown hospital of peritonitis, aged 66 years. He was admitted to the institution a short time before his death. Mr. Dierolf was a son of the late Levi Dierolf and his wife Catherine, nee Fetzer, and was born in Mertztown. He was twice married, his first wife, Harriet Frey, died about eighteen years ago. About sixteen years ago he married Mrs. Ellen Ziegler, nee DeLong, who survives. Other survivors are: A son, Howard, Hill Church; one sister, Mrs. Sarah Reinert, Pottstown, and his stepmother, Mrs. Catherine Dierolf, Hancock. The following are step brothers and step sisters, Jacob Dierolf, Hyde Park; Harry Dierolf, Hancock; Mrs. Milton Schlenker and Mrs. Edwin Marcks, Reading, and Mrs. John Barto, Topton. He was a member of the Lutheran church at Mertztown and of Washington Camp, No. 641, P.O.S. of A., Pottstown. Funeral on Monday afternoon, June 10, at 2.30 o'clock, standard time, from his late home with all services at the house followed by interment in St. Paul's Union church cemetery, Mertztown. Rev. Blatt, Zionsville, will officiate.

The funeral of Sarah Dierolf was held from her residence, 817 Bingaman street. Services were conducted at the house by Rev. W.H. Myers. The remains were attired in a black dress and rested in a walnut casket with silver extension bar handles. Interment was made in Aulenbach's Cemetery. Undertaker Lutz had charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Alice Mary Dietrich, 87, died yesterday after a long illness, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Paul Fenstermaker, of Kempton R. 1. The widow of the late Lewis Dietrich, she had been in ill health for the past three years. Born in Longswamp, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Elizabeth (Kistler) Howerter. She was a Lutheran member of the New Jerusalem Church and member of its Ladies Aid Society. Besides her daughter, she is survived by three sons, William, New Tripoli; Edgar and Norman, Kempton; a step-son, Valerius, Santa Rosa, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Hemerly, Kempton; Mrs. Kathryn High, Reading, and Mrs. George Steigerwalt, Kempton; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by seven brothers and four children.

Daniel Dietrich, of near Krumsville, Berks county, died of bilious fever and heart failure, aged 70 years, 7 months, and 18 days. His wife preceded him in death six years. The following children survive: Levi Deitrich, of Klinesville; Daniel Deitrich, Jr., of Catasauqua; Charles Deitrich, of Kutztown; Mrs. Elias Bear, of Fogelsville; Mrs. Jacob George of Weisburg; Mrs. Augustus Deitrich, of Klinesville; and Mrs. Nathan Zimmerman, living at home. The funeral took place on Thursday last.

David S. Dietrich, an aged and respected citizen of Longswamp township, died at the home of his son Mahlon, near Farmington, on Saturday morning at 4.20 of a complication of diseases, aged 72 years, 7 months and 4 days. Mr. Dietrich was sick for over a year and was bedfast for 7 weeks. He was a farmer all his life but lived a retired life for the last ten years. His wife preceded him in death 14 years ago and since made his home among his children. He was a son of the late John Dietrich and his wife Catherine (nee Scherer) and was born in Berks county. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Robert Seidle, of Breinigsville R. 2; John Dietrich, of Breinigsville R. 2; George Dietrich of Maxatawny; Mrs. Alvin Fritzinger of Blandon; Charles Dietrich of Breinigsville; Harvey and Mahlon of Mertztown R. 1; Isaac of Minesite and Josiah and Lewis of Kutztown. Fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Ziegel's church. Funeral on Thursday morning from his late home at 9.30 Continued services and burial at Ziegel's church, Rev. Keller officiating. Teams meet 9 o'clock trolley at Maxatawny hotel.

Harvey A. Dietrich, 73, of 109 E. High St., Topton, died yesterday at Allentown Osteopathic Hospital. He was the husband of Edna M. (Gehris) Dietrich. Born in Greenwich Township, Berks County, he was a son of the late David and Catherine (Ziegler) Dietrich. He was a retired farmer and was last employed as a route salesman for the Charles Shoemaker Bakery, Mertztown. He was a member of the Lutheran Congregation of Zion Lehigh Union Church, Alburtis. Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Goldie, wife of Paul C. Flicker, Mertztown R. 1; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Earl A. Trexler Funeral Home, 25 E. Weiss St., Topton. Calling hours will be 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Ida L., wife of Thomas A. Dietrich, (nee Komp), died at her home, near Klinesville, on Wednesday afternoon at 2.20. She leaves to mourn, her bereaved husband and one son, Ralph, 6 years, and two sisters, Mrs. Daniel J. Metzger and Mrs. Penrose M. Hering. The two sisters were called to her bedside half an hour before she passed away. The funeral will take place on Monday, June 24th, at 9.30 a.m. Interment will be made at Lenhartsville. Revs. Bernd and Trexler will officiate. Her age was 39 years, 5 months and 11 days.

Services were held Wednesday in the Ludwick Funeral Homes Inc., Kutztown for Jean L. Dietrich whodied March 6 at 10:15 a.m. in Lehigh Valley Hospital near Allentown, shortly after admission. Burial was in New Bethel (Zion) Cemetery, Grimville.Kutztown, She was the wife of Elton N. Dietrich. Born in Northampton, she was a daughter of the late George and Bertie (Beck) Nicholas. Dietrich was employed during the early 1970s for 10 years as a cook at the Kutztown Elementary School. She was a member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Krumsville. She is also survived by two sons, Douglas E., Kutztown, and Brent T., Fleetwood. There are six grandchildren. Also surviving is a stepbrother, Theodore Brown, Hawley, Wayne County.

John H. Dietrich, of Albany township, died of dropsy and general debility, aged 70 years. Deceased was the last member of a Dietrich family and is survived only by the widow. He had no children. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. Services will be held next Friday forenoon at Grimsville Church, and interment in the cemetery adjoining.

Died of Cancer. -- Mrs. Jonathan Dietrich, of Maxatawny tsp., died in the early part of last week from cancer on the neck, and general debility, aged 82 years. Her husband died ten years ago. The following sons survive: Lewis and Chester, of Brooklyn, near Kutztown; Peter and David, of Lenhartsville; Charles, of Weisenburg, Lehigh county; Isaac, of Deibertsville, and Daniel, living at home.

Kitty Ann Dietrich, daughter of David & Mary Magdaline (Mengel) Unger, was born in Windsor Township July 26, 1839, baptized November 3, 1839, by Rev. A. Herman, and confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Strausstown in 1856. She married Joel Dietrich December 3, 1859, who remains with 5 sons and 5 daughters to mourn her death; three sons predeceased her. She died October 20, 1911, aged 72y2m24d.

Lewis Dietrich, retired bricklayer, died on Saturday night at his home in Greenwich township, Berks county, from the effects of an apoplectic stroke. He was in his 85th year. He is survived by one son, Oscar V. Dietrich, of Breinigsville, and was the last of his family. Funeral services will be held at the parlors of Undertaker William S. Fritz, Kutztown, on Wednesday at 1.30 p.m. Interment will be made in Fairview cemetery, Kutztown.

Dietrich, Louisa

Mrs. Louisa Dietrich, wife of ex-Prothonotary Levi F. Dietrich, of Centre township, Berks county, died of apoplexy on Saturday at 5 p.m., aged 71 years. The husband and the following children survive: Howard, of Shoemakersville; Levi and William, of Centre; Irvin and Horace, of Philadelphia; Nelson, at home; Mrs. Geo. Miller, of Hamburg; Mrs. William Gruber, of Obold, and Mrs. Jeremiah Heckman, of Shoemakersville, and the following sisters: Miss Eliza Moser, of Strause; Mrs. Maria Bitner, of Centreport, and Mrs. Allen Shelly, of Royersford. Funeral Friday at 10 a.m. at Belleman's Church. Rev. Messrs. Gerberich and Brownmiller will officiate.

Dietrich, Mahlon I.

Mahlon I. Dietrich of Mertztown R. 1 died yesterday morning in his home after a short illness. He was 63. Born in Greenwich Township, Berks County, he was a son of the late David S. and Catherine E. Ziegler Dietrich. He was superintendent of roads in Longswamp Township for five years. Dietrich was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Ziegel's Union Church, Breinigsville R. 1. Surviving are his wife, Florence Weller Dietrich, and a brother, Harvey A. Dietrich, Topton. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Fritz & Kendall Funeral Home, Kutztown, with viewing 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Dietrich, Mary A.

Mary A. Dietrich, 97, formerly of 25 N. Second St., Hamburg, died Sunday evening in the Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, RD2 Hamburg, where she was a resident since 1989. Born in Albany Township, Berks County, she was a daughter of the late John K. and Sarah E. Leipensperger Bolich. She was a member of Salem Evangelical Congregational Church, Lenhartsville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar J., on Jan. 25, 1982; two sons, Harold O. and Luke O.; a daughter, Margaret M. Christ; a granddaughter, Lynette Delet. Surviving are a daughter, Ruth M. Kramer, Bethlehem; two sons, Stanley O., Hamburg, and Ethan O., Kempton; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a great-grandson. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, New Tripoli. The Rev. Harold L. Easter will officiate. Interment will be in New Bethel Union Church Cemetery, Albany Township, RD2 Kempton.

Dietrich, Sadie M.

Sadie M. "Kitty" Dietrich, 102, of ManorCare Health Services, Spring Township, Berks County, formerly of 101 S. Fourth St., Hamburg, died Wednesday at the center. Born in New Tripoli, Nov. 23, 1900, she was a daughter of the late George A. and Alice Hamm Korn. She graduated from the former Moravian Girls School, Bethlehem, graduated from a two-year course in home economics at Temple University, Philadelphia, and attended the former Dorney Business School, Allentown, where she worked as a secretary for Professor Dorney for two years. She retired in 1952 after 10 years as an office manager for the former Allen-Sherman-Hoff, Hamburg. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Friedensburg. Her husband, the Rev. William H. Dietrich, died Dec. 11, 1972. Surviving are two daughters, Marcene M. Frantz, Reading, and Joanne R. Adams, Perry Township; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday from Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Hamburg. Interment will be in St. John's Union Cemetery, Wayne Township.

Dietrich, Sadie M.

Services were held in the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Hamburg, for Sadie M. "Kitty" Dietrich, 102, formerly of South Fourth Street, Hamburg, who died June 4 in ManorCare Health Services Inc., Spring Township, where she had resided since Dec. 20, 1999. Burial was in St. Johns Union Cemetery, Wayne Township, Schuylkill County. She was predeceased by her husband, the Rev. William H. Dietrich, who died Dec. 11, 1972. Born in New Tripoli, Lehigh County, she was a daughter of the late George A. and Alice (Hamm) Korn. She was a graduate of Moravian Girls School, Bethelem, and a graduate of a two-year course in home economics at Temple University. Dietrich also attended Dorney Business School, where she was employed two years as a secretary. She was also employed as the office manager at Allen-Sherman-Hoff, Hamburg, from 1942 to 1952. Dietrich was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ, Friedensburg, Schuylkill County. Surviving are two daughters, Marcene M. (Dietrich) Frantz, Reading, and Joanne R. (Dietrich) Adams, Perry Township. There are also four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Dietrich, Susan Marguerita (nee Grim)

Susan Marguerita, wife of Charles H. Dietrich, died suddenly at eleven o'clock Saturday morning at her home on Noble street, Kutztown, from heart failure. She was seventy years, four months and twenty-eight days of age. Deceased had been in poor health for about a year. On Saturday toward noon, she suddenly collapsed before medical aid could reach her. She was the daughter of the late Daniel B. and Elizabeth, nee Krauss, Grim, and was born at Grimsville on October 20, 1845. On October 5, 1869, she was married to Charles Dietrich by Rev. G. F. Iager. She is survived by her husband, three sons: Chester W., of Davenport, Iowa; Walter S., of Kutztown; Paul H., of Ashland, Wisconsin. Nine grandchildren, one sister, Amelia, wife of William T. Breinig, of Breinigsville, and one brother, Charles A. Grim, of Topton, also survive. Two brothers and one sister preceded her in death. The funeral will be held from her late home, Noble street, Kutztown, on Thursday at 9.30 a.m., with further services at the Grimsville church. Interment will be made in the cemetery adjoining the church. Rev. R. B. Lynch and Rev. J. O. Schlenker will officiate. The remains were taken in charge of Undertaker J. J. Shofer.

Dietrich, Susanna

Hamburg: Sunday night, about 8 o'clock, Mrs. William Dietrich, a widow, aged about 60 years, living at West Hamburg, died suddenly on the P. & R. railroad track, half a mile above this place. She left home about 15 minutes before her death to go to the tea party for her amusement. She began to feel badly and called to Mrs. Ellwood Mengel, who lives along the railroad, for assistance. Mrs. Mengel brought a chair out to the tracks and the sick lady sat down on it, and in that position expired a few minutes later, evidently of heart disease. She leaves 5 children, as follows: David, whose whereabouts are unknown; Oscar, of Allentown; William, of Berne; Albert and Mrs. Heinzelman, of Ricketts, Pa. Deceased was a member of St. Michael's church. Her maiden name was Seaman, being raised near Hamburg.

Dietrich, Thomas A.

Thomas A. Dietrich, of Klinesville, a road supervisor on the Lenhartsville-Smithville state highway, and a well known resident of that section, died Thursday morning at his home from a heart attack, aged 64 years, 4 months and 3 days. Mr. Dietrich was born and reared at Klinesville, a son of the late Reuben A. Dietrich and his wife Catherine Kunkle Dietrich. He operated a farm at Klinesville for many years, but retired several years ago to take charge of the road work on the state highway. He is survived by one son, Ira, at home, and two grandchildren. The funeral will be held from his late home on Monday afternoon at 1.30 o'clock. Services will be conducted at his late home, Rev. W. K. Fisher, of Reading, and Rev. J. P. Bachman, Allentown, Lutheran and Reformed pastors respectively of Lenhartsville-Friedens church, officiating. Interment in the church cemetery.

Dietrich, Warren D.

Warren D. Dietrich, 58, formerly employed by Wenton Shoe Manufacturing Co. as a machine operator, died yesterday in his Maxatawny home. Born in Upper Macungie Township, Dietrich was a son of the late George and Cora (Lohrman) Dietrich. He was the husband of the late Mary (Haas) Dietrich. He was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Ziegels Church, Breinigsville R. 1. Surviving are two sons, Ralph, with whom he resided, and Roeller of Maxatawny, and four grandchildren. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Schmoyer Funeral Home, Breinigsville, with viewing 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday.

Dietrich, William

The remains of William Dietrich, aged 32 years, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Dietrich, of Lenhartsville, who died August 3 in California, after a short illness, arrived at Lenhartsville. The funeral takes place on Thursday at 9.20 a.m. from the residence of the parents. Services will be held in Bethel Zions' Church, Grimsville, and interment in the cemetery adjoining. Rev. O. S. Scheirer will officiate. The parents and these brothers and one sister survive: Ammon, of Hamburg; Edgar, of Kutztown; Morris, of California, and Annie, of Reading.

Dietrich, Wm. Albert

Wm. Albert Dietrich, son of Joel L. and Catharine Dietrich, was born February 24, 1866, in Upper Tulpehocken township; baptized June 24, 1866 by Rev. A. Finfrock; confirmed April 16, 1881, in Zion's Church, Strausstown. He was married by Rev. D. Trexler April 30 1892 with Sallie M. Potteiger, who remains with his parents, brothers and sisters to mourn his decease, which took place September 9, 1903, aged 37y6m15d.

Dietzler, Jefferson M.

Rev. Jefferson M. Dietzler, said to have been the oldest minister, both in point of age and length of service, of the Lutheran Synod of Pennsylvania, died at 4 a.m. on Wednesday of general debility at the residence of his son, John A., at Lebanon. Had he lived until June 17, Rev. Dietzler would have celebrated his 82d birthday anniversary. Owing to his feeble health Rev. Dietzler was removed to the home of his son, at Lebanon, from Lyons, Berks county, where he had lived for three years in retirement. He was a native of upper Berks county and was reared and received his early education in the vicinity of Bernville. He entered the ministry at an early age, and for 63 years served as a clergyman of the Lutheran faith. In 1865 he founded, and for 17 years was the pastor, of the Seventh street Lutheran Church, at Lebanon. His first charge, however, was in Reading, where he preached a number of years. He was pastor of the Annville-Bellgrove circuit for three years, the Womelsdorf charge for 16 years, and of other congregations in York, Lebanon and Berks counties, as also in Lehigh county. His last service was in the Lyons charge, comprising the Lyons, Mohrsville and Macungie churches. Rev. Dietzler is survived by his second wife (nee Artly), a native of Schuylkill county, and these children: John A., of Lebanon; Rev. Martin L., of Middleton, also a minister of the Lutheran denomination; Mrs. John A. Bachman, of Annville; Mrs. David Rebsteck, of Bethlehem, and Charles and George, of Pittsburg.

Dilliplaine, Lydia V.

Lydia V. Dilliplaine, 89, formerly of Amityville, died Aug. 1 in Manatawny Manor, East Coventry Township, Chester County. Her husband, Frederick K. Dilliplaine, died Oct. 3, 1982. Born in Earl Township, she was a daughter of the late James and Annie (Gable) Baus. Dilliplaine was employed for 15 years as a waxer by Gudebrod Inc., Stowe, retiring in 1981. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Amityville. Surviving are two daughters, Thelma (Dilliplaine) Smith, Pottstown, and Marion (Dilliplaine) Wunderlich, Douglassville; and two sons, James, Douglassville, and Eugene, Burns, Wyo. Other survivors include a brother, Ralph Baus, Gablesville. There are also 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be private in St. Paul's UCC Cemetery, Amityville. Houck & Gofus Funeral Home Inc., Pottstown, is in charge of arrangements.

Boyertown, Sept. 19--Sarah L. widow of William Dilliplane, residing with her son-in-law, Calvin Heydt, at Eshbach, Berks county, died of dropsy and complications due to old age, aged 87 years, 9 months and 27 days. Her husband died a number of years ago. There survive the following children: Irvin, Shanesville; Cora, wife of Calvin Heydt, Eshbach; Mary E., of Boyertown, and Mrs. Rebecca Boyer, Reading. Funeral from the home of the son-in law, Calvin Heydt, at Eshbach, Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 2 p.m., with all services in the Oley Lutheran Church, Rev. Dr. E.S. Brownmiller officiating. Dinger-Ladd, Wendy Lynn

Services were held at the Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home Inc. for Wendy Lynn Dinger-Ladd of First Street Extension, Tilden Township, who died of natural causes Feb. 29 in Reading Hospital, where she had been a patient two days. Burial was in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township. She was predeceased by her first husband, Barry R. Shelton, on April 16, 1995, and by her second husband, Timothy M. Ladd, on May 4, 1999. She was the fiance of Keith H. Wolf, with whom she resided. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of Louise M. (Goodman) Stoudt, Temple, and the late Raymond R. Dinger. Dinger-Ladd was a 1986 graduate of Reading High School. She was employed by Advanced Medical Co., Reading, as a certified nursing assistant for the past two months. Previously, she worked for many years as a certified nursing assistant at Berks Heim. Surviving are a son, Joshua R. Dinger, and a daughter Tabitha M. Dinger, both at home; and a stepson, Brandon M. Ladd, in New York. Also surviving are a brother, Keith D. Dinger, Shillington; and her stepfather, Charles W. Stoudt, Temple.

Dinkle Charles G.

Charles G Dinkle of St Lawrence, died on Wednesday at 11:15 p.m. after an illness of thirty-six hours, of gastralgia and obstruction of bowels. He leaves a widow, Susan, (nee Schmeck), and seven sons and one daughter: George S., Harry S., Minnie A., Ammon F., John W., Charles Herbert, Daniel A and Walter R Dinkle. His age was 41 years and 9 months. Deceased was a successful gardener and had his farm in high state of cultivation. He was a life-long Republican and had many friends.

DiNino, Susan M.

Susan M. DiNino, 68, died of natural causes April 3 at 4 a.m. in her Reading residence. Her husband, Charles P. DiNino, died Nov. 10, 1988. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late James W. and Susan C. (Lutz) Orrs. DiNino had been employed for 10 years as a machine operator by Luden's Inc., Reading, retiring in 1999. She is survived by two sons, Charles P. III and Brian C., both of Reading; and three daughters: Audrey G. (DiNino) Hoffman, West Lawn; Brenda D. DiNino, with whom she last resided; and Deborah A. (DiNino) Seelbach, Hyde Park, N.Y. Other survivors include a sister, Josephine M. (Orrs) Zawislak, Kenhorst, and a brother, James H. Orrs, Shillington. There are also 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

Dixon, Maria (nee Koble)

Former Resident dies in Philadelphia. Mrs. E.S. Strause, 734 North Tenth street, received word that her sister, Maria (nee Koble), wife of John C. Dixon, a former resident of this city, died at her home, 1631 Ontario street, Philadelphia, aged 60 years. She was a native of Berks county and resided in this city many years. She located in Philadelphia about 10 years ago. Besides her husband, these children survive: Clarence, Harry, Lottie, and Mabel, all of Philadelphia, and two sisters, Mrs. C.M. Kutz, Pottstown, and Mrs. E.S. Strause, of this city.

Doaty, Paul D.

No service has been scheduled for Paul D. Doaty, 73, husband of June Doaty, of Sebastian, Fla., who died August 2 in the Sebastian River Medical Center, Roseland, Fla. He was born in Birdsboro and moved to Sebastian from Elkton, Md., in 1976. Doaty worked in the crating and shipping department of Piper Aircraft in Vero Beach, Fla., for 16 years before retiring. Surviving in addition to his wife of 26 years are a brother, Richard Doaty; and a sister, Esther Doaty, both of Birdsboro. Contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Vero Beach, 4701 41 St., Vero Beach, FL 32960. The arrangements are by the Fountainhead Memorial Funeral Home of Palm Bay.

Services will be held for Madeline Anne (Destefano) Dodaro, 87, of the Quakertown Center, formerly of Gilbertsville, who died August 11 in her residence. She was the widow of Anthony Dodaro. Born in Scranton, she was a homemaker and a member of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Bally. Surviving are two daughters, Antoinette Gehringer of Gilbertsville and Patricia A. Ellis of Barto. Also a brother; a sister; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son. Contributions may be made to the church. Born in Middleport, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Anna Niadna McAleer. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Ephrata. Surviving are her husband, Walter J. Jr.; a son, Anthony P., Exeter Township, Berks County; two daughters, Janet T. Bortzel, Reinholds, Bernice J. Pezzino, Lawrenceville, Ga.; a sister, Loretta Miklesavage, Middleport; a brother, Bernard Niadna, Woonsocket, R.I.; four grandchildren. Services will be held at 9:15 a.m. Thursday from Sanders Funeral Home, Reading. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Doebler, Elizabeth

Woman Burned to Death. Mrs. Elizabeth Doebler, 913 Robeson Street, Reading, died at the Reading Hospital from the effects of burns received about 5 a.m. Thursday. While descending the cellar stairs at her home she fell and the flame from a lamp she carried set fire to her clothing burning her terribly.

Pauleen L. Doerrman, 96, Wyomissing, died May 8 in ManorCare Health Services Inc., Spring Township, where she had resided since April 22. Her husband, Ralph J. Doerrman, died April 5, 1998. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Clarence J. and Annie (Moyer) High. Doerrman was a member of Calvary United Church of Christ, Reading. Surviving are a son, Richard R., Wyomissing; and a daughter, Deborah K. (Doerrman) Guldin, Wernersville. Other survivors include a sister, Edna (High) Karkanen, Chicago. There are also six grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson. Memorial services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Calvary UCC. Anna (Micolochick) Doklan, 90, of Freemansburg died Nov. 2 in St. Lule's Fountain Hill. She was the wife of the late Frank Doklan. She was born in Jundale, PA to the late John and Susan (Zayac) Micolochick. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Freemansburg. She is survived by a son Frank, Jr.of Hellertown; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son Raymond H. Services were held Wed. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Mary J. Dolan, 95, formerly of Grant Street, Reiffton, who died February 2 in Berkshire Center, Exeter Township, where she had resided since 1998. Her husband, Jeremiah J. Dolan, died in 1985. Born in County Waterford, Ireland, she was a member of St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Exeter Township. Surviving are a son, John J., Toms River, N.J.; and three daughters; Mary E. (Dolan) Sullivan, with whom she last resided; Geraldine A. (Dolan) Powers, Rye Beach, N.H.; and Margaret R. (Dolan) Dunn, Yorktown Heights, N.Y. Other survivors include 17 grandchildren and 22-great-grandchildren. Burial was private. The Lutz Funeral Home Inc., Mount Penn, was in charge of the arrangements.

Doll, Louis

Louis Doll, well-known musician of Topton, died yesterday afternoon at 2.15 o'clock at his late home on High street, Topton. He was in his sixty-seventh year. Strictly private funeral services will be held at his late home on High street on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Interment will be made in the Topton cemetery. Rev. William H. Kline of Topton will officiate.

Doll, Sarah Jane (nee Moyer)

Sarah Jane Doll of 130 Mine Road, Quakertown, widow of Sylvester Doll, died Thursday night in Allentown. She was 88. Born in Hereford, Berks County, she was a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Schlicher) Moyer. Surviving are a daughter Mrs. Carrie Tarantino of Quakertown; two sons, Charles and Earl, both of Warrington, Fla.; two brothers, Clement of East Greenville and Charles of Hatfield; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Gerhart of Sellersville R. 1 and Mrs. Cora DeLong of Royersford; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Private services will be Tuesday in the Strunk Funeral Home, Quakertown.

Donkel, Irene M.

Services will be held June 25, 11 a.m. in Little Swatara Church, Bethel, for Irene M. Donkel, 73, who died June 21 in her Lancaster Avenue, Bethel Township residence. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. She was the wife of Kenneth L. Donkel. Born in Myerstown, Lebanon County, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Eva (Peifer) Edris. She was a member of Little Swatara Church of the Brethren, Bethel. Also surviving are two daughters, Linda (Donkel) Dreibelbis, Lawrenceville, Tioga County, and Sandra (Donkel) Dreibelbis, Bernville, and three sons: Terry Donkel and Jeffrey Donkel, both of Bethel, and Robert Donkel, at home. There are also nine grandsons and one great-grandson. Other survivors include a brother, Richard Edris, Cleona, Lebanon County; and two sisters, Lillian (Edris) Gibble and Helen (Edris) Brightbill, both of Myerstown. Donmoyer, Milton Taylor

Milton Taylor Donmoyer, a representative and influential business man, widely known throughout Berks and Lehigh counties, who was held in high esteem by all with whom he came in contact, died Sunday evening at his home on East Main street, Kutztown. He was born in Uniontown, Lebanon county, August 8, 1848, and was a son of Benjamin and Hannah (Gernert) Donmoyer, both passing away in March, 1864, leaving him an orphan and obliged to battle for himself. He started as a farm hand which he pursued for one year. He also worked as a cigarmaker for some time. He was then employed by Samuel Nagle, of Trexlertown, as a saddler apprentice for two years. He then spent one year in Indiana and Michigan. Returning to Lehigh county, he located at Newton and conducted a harness shop of his own until 1869, when he sold his shop and moved to Kutztown, where he located and continued until 1893, when he sold out to S. W. Keinert. After this, Mr. Donmoyer was engaged in selling and buying cattle for a number of hears. His later years were spent in trucking and looking after the interests of the Soucony Shoe Mfg. Company, of which he was a director and vice president. He bought the trace of land opposite the Kutztown Park, which he sold in building lots, keeping the corner lot on which he built a find brick house, where he lived until his death. Politically Mr. Donmoyer was a republican. He was prison inspector of Berks county, and postmaster of Kutztown under the Harrison administration for five years. He was a member of St. Paul's Reformed Church, where he was a faithful member until the end. Fraternally he was a member of the Huguenot Lodge, No. 377, F. & A.M. He is survived by his wife, Hannah (Springer) Donmoyer; a daughter, Mrs. Charles Messersmith, of Kutztown; and a son, Wm. A. Donmoyer, of Allentown; and the following grandchildren: John M. Messersmith, of C. 20th Engineers, located at Washington, D.C.; Helen, Florence, C. Milton, Mabel, Grace, Rudolph W., Wm. A Donmoyer, Jr., and Mrs. Alfred (Donmoyer) Reinsmith. Also one brother, Rudolph W., of South Bend, Indiana, and one sister, Susan (Donmoyer) Haas, of Tiffin, Ohio, a son, Chas. Benjamin having preceded him in death.

Memorial services were held in the Edward J. Hildenbrand Funeral Home, Kutztown, for Elizabeth G. Dooley, Hill Top Road, Maxatawny Township, who died Jan. 3 in Lehigh Valley Hospital. Burial was in Chicago. She was the wife of W. Michael Dooley. Born in Chicago, she was a daughter of Gladys Sutton Brazil and the late Odis Brazil. She was an artist and sculptor. Also surviving are a son, Mark K. Spann, Chicago; a brother, Adis Brazil, Atlanta, Ga.; and two sisters, Karen Brashears and Janice Creighton, both of Chicago.

Doran, Mary L.

Mary L. Doran, 83, a resident at Mifflin Court, Cumru Township, formerly of Millmont, died May 20 in Reading Hospital. Her husband, Fred C. Doran, died July 22, 1998. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Harry Q. and Anna M. (Bechtel) Brosey. Doran had been employed in sales by Pomeroy's Department Store Inc., Reading, retiring in 1970. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Millmont, where she was past president of the altar and rosary society. Doran was a former yoga instructor at the Horizon Center, now the Berks County Senior Citizens Center, and the Shillington Senior Citizens Center. There are no immediate survivors. She was predeceased by a daughter, Marisue A. (Doran) Carlson, in 1974. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Burial will be private. Kopicki-Bradley Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

Dorm, Stella M.

Stella M. Dorm, 68, Lyndon, Lancaster County, was pronounced dead May 13 in Lehigh County. Further information was unavailable from the Lehigh Valley coroner's office. Her husband, Charles S. Dorm Sr., died Feb. 15, 1999. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Marino) Stroffolino. Dorm had been employed as a machine operator by Amp Inc., Lancaster, until her retirement. She was a member of Bright Side Baptist Church, Lancaster. Dorm served as daughter ruler with the Conestoga Lodge of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lancaster. She is survived by a daughter, Elsie M. (Beck) Fieles, Lancaster; and three sons: Joseph R. Dundore Sr., Mountville; Rodney S. Dorm, Manheim; and Charles S. Dorm, Marietta, all Lancaster County. Other survivors include two sisters, Yolanda (Stroffolino) Scheaffer, Schaefferstown, Lebanon County, and Rose (Stroffolino) Torres, Leesport; and three brothers: Lou Stroffolino, Womelsdorf; Nicholas Stroffolino, Media, Delaware County; and Dominic Stroffolino, in Ohio. There are also seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Bright Side Baptist Church. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens, Columbia, Lancaster County. Clyde Kraft Funeral Home Inc., Columbia, is in charge of arrangements.

Dorney, Edward J.

Edward J. Dorney, 81, of Quakertown died May 12, 2003 in Genesis ElderCare, Quakertown Center. He was the husband of Dorothy Mae (Scheetz) Dorney. They were married 59 years last August. Born in Wescoesville, he was the son of Livian (Dorney) Dickert of Quakertown and the late Ralph Dorney. He was the great grandson of Solomon Dorney, the founder of Dorney Park in Allentown. He was a master cabinet maker, and over the past 50 years he owned and operated Dorney Cabinet Company and One-Of-A-Kind Furniture Shop, and was a building contractor. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during WWII in France and Germany, where he received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two bronze stars, and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a past president of the Kiwanis Club, and later an active member and fund-raiser for Quakertown American Legion Post 242, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the Paletown Rod and Gun Club. He was involved in local sports, serving as coach and umpire in the Quakertown Little League for more than 30 years, and in Connie Mack for five years. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, Edward L. and Peter R., both of Quakertown; two daughters, Sheryl A. Dorney of York and Mary Ellen Minarik of Coopersburg; one sister Dorothy Fosbenner of Quakertown; and three grandchildren. Services were held May 15. Mrs. Ella A. Dorney, 79, widow of George W. Dorney, died Wednesday at her home, Summit Ave., Shillington. A native of Greenwich township, she was the daughter of the late Jacob P. and Christina Sunday Kutz. She was a member of St. John's Reformed church, Kutztown, and was also a charter member of the Purity Temple No. 124 of the Ladies of the Golden Eagle. Survivors include one step-daughter, Verna; two sisters, Hettie, wife of Charles Bailey, Kutztown R. 1, and Mrs. Louisa Dietrich, Kutztown, and one grandchild.

George Dorney, 65, husband of Ellen A. (Kutz) Dorney, 726 N. 11th St., died Tuesday night in the Allentown hospital. He was a son of the late Daniel and Louisa (Faust) Dorney. Before moving to Allentown 20 years ago, he was a cement contractor in Kutztown. Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Verna Guth, widow of Irwin Guth, Allentown, and one grandson. Rev. Horton D. Nace will officiate at funeral services at 2 p.m. Friday at the Fritz funeral home, Kutztown. Interment in Fairview cemetery, Kutztown. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

Mrs. Sadie C. Dornmoyer, 88, of 227 Chestnut St., Kutztown, died Sunday in the Laurel Nursing and Retirement Center, Hamburg. She was the widow of John E. T. Dornmoyer. She was a former school teacher in the Womelsdorf Area and Maxatawny Township for more than 10 years. Born in Maxatawny Township, she was a daughter of the late Jacob D. and Elmira (Clauss) Levan. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Kutztown. Surviving are two daughters, Ethel G., wife of Alfred L. Wessner, of Kutztown R. 2; and Mrs. Lillian Schmoyer of Kutztown; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the church. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Hyde Park, for Francis F. Doskus of Snyder Road, Ontelaunee Township, who died March 12 in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient for one week. Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. He was the husband of Ina H. (Hutzulak) Doskus. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Felix and Edith (Stypcynski) Doskus. Until his retirement, he was employed in maintenance by Reading Metals. Doskus was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Church. Surviving is a daughter, Phyllis (Doskus) Stauffer, Wyomissing. There are three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Milkins Funeral Home Inc., Temple, was in charge of arrangements.

Dotterer, Abraham

Abraham Dotterer, an aged and respected resident of near Maple Grove, Macungie R. 1, died of apoplexy on Monday evening at the home of his niece, Mrs. William Stuber, 430 North Lumber street, this city, aged 78 years, 5 months and 29 days. Mr. Dotterer was a farmer most of his life, but he had lived practically retired for the past fifteen years. When they failed to see him about his home from Saturday evening until Wednesday morning of last week, neighbors became alarmed and notified his niece. Mr. and Mrs. Stuber hurried to his home and forcing the door they found him lying before his bed in a semi-conscious condition. Dr. E. H. Mohr was hastily summoned and made him as comfortable as possible. He was later removed to the stuber home in this city. Mr. Dotterer's wife preceded him in death thirty-five years ago. There survives a step-brother, Jesse Bechtel, Bechtelsville. Mr. Dotterer was a member of Washington Camp, No. 97, P.O.S. of A., of Alburtis, and of Alburtis Council, No. 1014, F.P.A., and of Shamrock Evangelical church. Funeral services will be held at 9.30 Saturday morning from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stuber, 430 North Lumber street, with Rev. M. H. Brensinger officiating. Interment will be made in Shamrock Evangelical cemetery.

Dotterer, Hetty (nee Kline)

Hetty, wife of Daniel Dotterer, died at the family residence at Guth's Station yesterday afternoon, of a complication of diseases. Deceased was a daughter of the late David and Sarah Kline, and was born in Longswamp township, Berks county, sixty-seven years ago. Besides the husband, one son, Lewis Dotterer, residing at home, survives. The funeral will take place from the family home at Guth's station on Tuesday morning at 9.30 o'clock, followed by regular services in Jordan Lutheran church and interment in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. H. Semmel, of Allentown, will officiate.

Services were held for James J. Dotterer, 87, of East Coventry, widower of Rosemary (Wells) Dotterer, who died June 8 in Manatawny Manor. Born in Boyertown, Dotterer was a quality control inspector for Dana Corp. in Pottstown for 40 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Good Shepherd United Church of Christ in Boyertown. Dotterer was a member of the Boyertown Lodge N. 741 F&AM, and a life member of the Friendship Hook and Ladder Fire Co. and the Keystone, Earl and Liberty fire companies. Surviving are a daughter, Linda L. Hutt of Bechtelsville; two sons, James J. Dotterer Jr. of West Chester and David C. Dotterer of Reading; and two grandchildren. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Boyertown. The Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home, Boyertown, handled the arrangements.

John W. Dotterer, 72, husband of Minnie (Hausman) Dotterer, died Sunday night in his home at 125 Barkley St., Topton. Born in South Whitehall Township, Lehigh County, he was a son of the late John and Amanda (Confer) Dotterer. Until 13 years ago when he moved to Topton, he had been a farmer in Weisenberg Township. After moving to Topton, he worked for the Caloric Appliance Corp. there for eight years. He was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Weisenberg Union Church. Surviving with his widow are eight sons, Clayton of Lenhartsville R. 1; Elwood of Kempton R.. 2; Royden of Breinigsville R. 1; Melvin and Carl, both of Kempton; and William, Fred and Norman, all of Orefield R. 1; a daughter, Betty, wife of Willard Kunkel, of New Tripoli; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two sisters, Gertrude, wife of William Music, of Bath, and Esther Eppler, of Bethlehem. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Weisenberg Church. Viewing will be 7-8:30 p.m. tomorrow in the Keller Funeral Home, Fogelsville.

Dotterer, Melvin T.

Melvin T. Dotterer, 56, of Kempton, was dead on arrival Saturday at the Allentown and Sacred Heart Hospital Center after being stricken at work. He was the husband of Luella K. (George) Dotterer. He was presently the maintenance supervisor for Allen Organ Co., Macungie, where he had been employed for the past 18 years. Born in South Whitehall Township, he was a son of the late John W. and Minnie E. (Hausman) Dotterer. He was a member of the Lutheran Congregation of weisenberg Union Church, New Tripoli R. 2. He was a member of the church consistory. Dotterer was one fo the organizers of the Kempton Community Center. Surviving with his widow are two daughters, Joan E., at home, and Judith A., wife of Dennis Stetzler of Lenhartsville R. 1; a sister, Betty, wife of Willard Kunkel of Topton; seven brothers, Clayton of Wescosville R. 1; Royden of Breinigsville R. 1; Elwood and Carl, both of Kempton R. 2, William Fred and Norman, all of orefield R. 2; three grandchildren. Dotts, James B.

James B. Dotts, a resident of Allentown for the past half century, died at 5:40 p.m. yesterday at his home, the residence of his nephew, William N. Keiser, 712 ½ N. 12th St. Although he had been confined to the house for the past four weeks, the death of Mr. Dotts came suddenly of a stroke while he was seated in his bedroom. He was in his 81st year. A native of Berks county, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Fegley) Dotts. During his early life he was engaged as a bartender for a long period of years. His last employment before retiring some years back was as a watchman at Schlegel's garage. He was a faithful member of the Reformed congregation of the Longswamp church, and was affiliated with Liberty Castle, No. 82, A.O.K.M.; Allen Lodge, No. 71, I.O.O.F., and Pennsburg Council, No. 961, F.P.A. Mr. Dotts was unmarried and was the last of his family. His only surviving relatives are nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at the Rabenold funeral home, 116 S. 8th St., on Saturday at 1 p.m. Rev. Donald Englert will officiate. Interment will be made in the Longswamp church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Clair A. Dougherty, 67, of 1483 Railroad Road, Dauberville, Berks County, died Thursday morning at Reading Hospital & Medical Center, West Reading, where he had been a patient since Wednesday. Born in Reilly Township, he was a son of the late Joseph M. and Beatrice Griffith Dougherty. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was an inspector for 36 years at Dana Corp., Reading, retiring in 1987. He was a charter member of the Schuylkill County Motorcycle Club. Surviving are his wife, the former Rosemary A. Hart; a son, Raymond C., Philadelphia; a daughter, Corinne C., Shillington; a sister, Norma O'Brien, New York City; a brother, Lamar Dougherty, Bethlehem. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday from Leibensperger Funeral Homes Inc., Hamburg. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Dougherty, Philip

A most horrible accident occurred Tuesday morning of last week at the ore crushing works of the New Jersey and Pennsylvania Concentrating Company, several miles from Bechtelsville. While Philip Dougherty, the engineer, was adjusting some of the machinery part of his clothing was caught thus drawing him into the wheels and crushing the life out of him. His body was so fast wedged into the machinery that some of it had to be taken apart to remove it. The unfortunate man had but lately commenced work there. He was about 35 years old and leaves a wife, three daughters and a son. He resided at Bechtelsville but was buried at Bower's Station. A coroner's inquest was held and the jury rendered a verdict of accidental death. The mining works are those whereof Thomas A. Edison is president and is experimenting with his electric ore separator.

Mrs. Mamie E. (Buck) Downing, 82, of 24 Pine St., Macungie, died yesterday morning in the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Russell J. Eck of Macungie. She was the widow of Arthur W. Downing. Born in Rittenhouse Gap, Berks County, she was a daughter of the late William and Caroline (Ashton) Buck. She resided in Macungie most of her life. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Macungie. Surviving are two sons, Lloyd H. Eck of Rittenhouse Gap and Russell J. Eck, with whom she resided since she became ill a year ago; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Grace Lutheran Church in Macungie. Calling hours will be 7-8:30 p.m. tomorrow in the church. The Horace W. Schantz Funeral Home, 3rd and Main streets, Emmaus, is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Ethel A. Downs, 85, formerly of Reading, died Dec. 16 at 8:06 a.m. in Reading Hospital, where she had been a patient for one week. She was taken to the hospital from ManorCare Health Services Inc., West Reading, where she had resided one year. Her husband, Paul S. Downs, died Feb. 5, 1992. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Alice (McIntyre) Klopp. Downs was a member of Mountain View Fellowship Church of God, Reading. Surviving are a son, J. Warren, Milwaukee, and three daughters: Donna L. (Downs) Hettinger, West Wyomissing; Sherry L. (Downs) Gougler, Farmingville, N.Y.; and Judit A. (Downs) Stettler, Reading. Other survivors include a sister, Verna (Klopp) Schoener, Whitfield; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Larry T. Downs. Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Mountain View Fellowship. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton. The Sanders Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.

Doyle, Francis

Mrs. Francis Doyle, widow of James A. Doyle, died of complications yesterday at her home at Reading. She was 50 years old. Surviving are three sons, Edward, of Allentown, and Robert and John, of Reading; four daughters, Alice, wife of James O'Neill; Mary, wife of Joseph Cavanaugh; Frances, widow of John W. Kelchner, and Margaret C. Doyle, all of whom reside in Reading, and five grandchildren.

Drake, Mary (nee Leibensperger)

Mrs. Mary Drake died at her home at Frush Valley, near Reading. The body was removed to the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Leibensperger, near Shoemakersville, from where the funeral will take place on Monday. The following children survive: Emma, of Myerstown; William and Clarence, both at home; Helen, Pottsville. Her parents and the following brothers and sisters also survive: Agnes, wife of Charles Rutschkey, Pottstown; Milton Leibensperger, Pottstown; Annie Leibensperger, West Leesport; William, Allentown; Cora, wife of Calvin Lesher, Shoemakersville; Kate, wife of Charles Snyder, Leesport; Reba, wife of William Seige, Shoemakersville; Lenus Leibensperger, Mohrsville; and Elsie, Shoemakersville. She was a member of Star of Welcome Lodge, No. 60, Shepherds of Bethlehem, of Centreport, and Order of Loyal Americans, of Myerstown.

Drees, Margaret E.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Margaret E. Drees, 83, formerly of Oley Township, who died December 9 in Kutztown Manor Inc., where she had resided for 18 months. Her husband, Ralph A. Drees, died in 1998. Born in St. Lawrence, she was a graduate of Mount Penn High School. She was a leader for several years with the Boy Scouts of America. Drees was a member of St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Exeter Township. Surviving are a son, Andrew T., Allentown, and a daughter, Sandra Y. (Drees) Graczyk, New Tripoli, Lehigh County. Other survivors include a brother and two grandsons. Celebration will be held at St. Catharine of Siena Chapel, Mount Penn, on December 18 at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton. The Christ & Catagnus Funeral Home Inc., Oley, handled the arrangements.

Dreibelbis, Annie A. (nee Schmale)

Mrs. Annie A. Dreibelbis, of Pricetown, Berks county, died on Thursday morning at the home of her son, Benjamin Dreibelbis, No. 330 North Third street, aged 70 years. She came to this city on a visit on New Year's Day and while here was taken sick, which terminated fatally. She had been complaining with rheumatism for the past three years, but her death was due to infirmities due to old age. She was a daughter of the late John and Sarah Schmale, and was born in Maiden Creek township, Berks county. For the past fifty years she had been a resident of Pricetown. Her husband died forty-one years ago, being mortally wounded in one of the battles of the civil war. She is survived by one son, Benjamin, of this city, and one daughter, Mrs. Ellen Schoedler, of Pricetown. Short services were held at the home of her son, Benjamin, on Sunday afternoon by Rev. W. A. Lambert and regular services and burial took place on Monday at the Pricetown Church.

Mrs. Annie M. Dreibelbis died yesterday at the home of her son, Benjamin Dreibelbis, No. 330 North Third street, aged seventy-six years. Mrs. Cora Y. Dreibelbis, wife of William Y. Dreibelbis, 126 Cherry St., Topton, died Saturday afternoon at Allentown Hospital where she had been a patient one day. She was 76. Born in Pike Township, Berks County, she was a daughter of the late Jeremiah and Amelia (Yoder) Guldin. She was a member of the Reformed wing of Maxatawny Church. Besides her husband, survivors include two sisters and one brother: Daisy, wife of Wilson F. Shankweiler, Schnecksville; Miss Elsie K. Guldin and Yoder R. Guldin, both of Topton.

Mrs. Ellen Dreibelbis, 72, widow of Elenius Dreibelbis, died Monday after a lengthy illness at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Grim, along Kutztown, R. 2. Mrs. Dreibelbis was born in Maxatawny township, Berks county, a daughter of the late William and Amelia Lease, and had resided for most of her lifetime in the section in which she passed away. She was a member of the Lutheran faith. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Katherine, widow of George Smith, of Allentown; three brothers, Peter and Freeman of Kutztown R. 1, and Solon Hilbert of Temple, and the following children: Mrs. Samuel Grim; Beulah, wife of Howard Swoyer of Kutztown; William Dreibelbis of Allentown; a step-grandson, Paul Strausser of Allentown; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Rev. K. W. Bittner will officiate at services on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Fritz Funeral home in Kutztown. Interment will follow in the Fairview cemetery at Kutztown.

Frank S. Dreibelbis died on Saturday in Hamburg after an illness of one week with pleurisy, aged 48 years. He was a native of Greenwich township, a son of the late Solomon K. and Isabella (Balthaser) Dreibelbis. There survive his widow, Katie (Kerschner) Dreibelbis; one daughter, Anna Mae, at home; two brothers and one sister, Calvin, Hamburg; Cyrus, Lancaster, and Mrs. Emma Miller, Allentown.

Gertrude (Heckman), 65, widow of Milton Dreibelbis, of 425 Locust St., died yesterday in St. Joseph's Hospital. A native of Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joel Heckman. She was a member of the Reformed Congregation of Gernant's Church. Her husband preceded her in death ten years.

Surviving are six children; Florence, wife of Clarence Young, Laureldale; Milton, Reading; Ray, Leesport; Helen, wife of Herman Shade, of Bernharts; Mrs. Mary Messner, Reading, and Walter, with the Army in Germany; ten grandchildren; and a brother, John, Reading.

Jacob D. Dreibelbis, 81, Richmond Township, died May 7 at 5:46 a.m. in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient since April 16. Born in Richmond Township, he was a son of the late Samuel D. and Mary H. (Wessner) Dreibelbis. Dreibelbis was a self-employed farmer in Richmond Township for more than 50 years. He was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Richmond Township. Dreibelbis is survived by a brother, Raymond C., Strausstown; and two sisters, Ruth M. (Dreibelbis) Kerschner, Hamburg, and Kathryn C. (Dreibelbis) Guinther, Temple. Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Peter's Church. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Dreibelbis, Lloyd E.

Lloyd E Dreibelbis, 75, of 47 Dreibelbis Mill Rd., Perry Twp., died Monday at 7 a.m. in Kutztown Manor, where he had resided since Jun 22. He was the husband of Betty J (Schappell) Dreibelbis. Born in Perry Twp., he was the son of the late William H and Dinah (Rothermel) Dreibelbis.

Dreibelbis was employed for many years as a farmer by W.H. Dreibelbis & Sons Inc., Perry Twp., retiring in 1985. He was employed part-time for several years as a night watchman by North Penn Trucking Co., Muhlenberg Twp.

He was a graduate of the former Perry High School. A member of St. Luke's Church, Shoemakersville, Dreibelbis was a former Sunday school treasurer. He was a past director and membership committee chairman of the Berks County Farm Bureau.

Dreibelbis also is survived by a son, Gary L., New Bedford, Mass., and a daughter, Carolyn B. (Dreibelbis) Hollenbach, Upper Tulpehocken Twp. Other survivors include three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Luke's Cemetery, Perry Twp., Leibensperger Funeral Homes Inc., Hamburg, is in charge of arrangements.

Lloyd T. Dreibelbis, 92, died April 5 in his residence in Virginville. He was the husband of Katie R. (Angstadt) Dreibelbis. Born in Virginville, he was a son of the late Harry M. and Florenda D. (Heinly) Dreibelbis. Dreibelbis had been a self-employed farmer, painter and paperhanger for 70 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Fleetwood. Dreibelbis served 40 years as financial secretary of the Community Fire Company, Virginville. He was author of The History of Virginville published in 2002. Dreibelbis is also survived by two daughters, Marlene L. (Dreibelbis) Miller, Centre Township, and Leona J. (Dreibelbis) Wright, Virginville; and a son, Malcolm L., Fleetwood. Other survivors include seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Paul's UCC. Burial will be in Becker's (St. Peter's) Cemetery, Richmond Township. Mae A. Stump Funeral Home Inc., Fleetwood, is in charge of arrangements.

Pauline M. Dreibelbis, 83, Wernersville, died June 24 at 3:20 a.m. in Reading Hospital, where she had been a patient since June 7. She was taken there from Phoebe Berks Village, Wernersville, where she had resided since December 2000. Her husband, Carl J. Dreibelbis, died May 29, 1987. Born in Robesonia, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Pearl (Miller) Klopp. Dreibelbis was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Robesonia. She is survived by a son, Bryan T., Wernersville; and two daughters, Shirley A. (Dreibelbis) Bowman, Ephrata, and Sandra J. (Dreibelbis) Kramer, Robesonia. Other survivors include a brother, Gene L. Klopp, Reading. There are also two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren. Services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in Lamm & Witman Funeral Home Inc., Wernersville. Burial will be in St. John's (Hain's) Church Cemetery, Lower Heidelberg Township.

Private services were held for Richard P. Dreibelbis, 60, of Pricetown Road, Ruscombmanor Township, who died as a result of a sport utility vehicle crash on June 10. He was the husband of Joan M. (Jaraczewski) Dreibelbis. Born in Reading, he was employed for 30 years as a furniture repairman and deliveryman by Colonial Furniture Manor, Breinigsville, Lehigh County. He was an Army veteran and was a 1961 graduate of Reading High School. He is also survived by a son, Peter R., and a daughter, Stephanie A. Dreibelbis, both at home. Dressler, Dan

Dan Dressler, director of the National Bank of Topton and also a director of the Good Shepherd home, died yesterday morning at the home of his nephew, Mahlon Roth, near Krumsville. He was 75 and had lived in Allentown most of his lifetime. For many years he lived at 228 N. 13th St. He was a salesman and had covered much of Eastern Pennsylvania during his 50 years of sales work. His most recent affiliation was with the Tinkler Co. of Philadelphia, a carpet concern. Born in Greenwich township, Berks county, a son of the late Peter and Maria (Gruber) Dressler, he became active in Masonic circles of Allentown. He was a member of Greenleaf lodge 561, Allen Council 23, Royal Arch chapter 203, Allen Commandery, Knights Templar 20, Lehigh Consistory, Rajah Temp of Reading, Allentown Forest 41 of the Tall Cedars, Post L of the TPA, Lehigh-Allen Democratic club and for 20 years a member of Lehigh Valley Motor club. He was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Grimsville church. His only immediate survivor is a sister, Mrs. Annie Bautsch of Allentown. Rev. Ira W. Klick, assisted by Rev. Conrad Raker, superintendent of the Good Shepherd home, will officiate at services to be held at 1.30 p.m. Friday at the Schofer funeral home, 103 Main St., Topton. Burial will be in Grimsville cemetery.

Franklin Dressler, aged 69 years, 5 months and 15 days, died yesterday morning at his home, 4228 Seventh avenue, South Temple. Mr. Dressler was a native of berks county and was born August 22, 1863. He was a member of Alsace Lutheran church, Manangy Tribe, Improved Order of Red Men; American Patriotic Circle and Temple Fire company, No. 1. Besides his widow, Minnie L. (Lewis); son, George M.; daughter, Mary C., wife of Walter Bisner, Mohnton; brother, Daniel Dressler, Allentown; sister, Anna, Steins Corner; also five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Dresher, Alfred D.

Alfred D. Dresher, former clothier and realtor, died at 11 o'clock Thursday night at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. George Kuhl, 1340 Walnut St., Allentown, one day after his 80th birthday. He had been ill seven weeks. Mr. Dresher was born in Mertztown, a son of Samuel and Sarah (Leibensberger) Dresher. Up to the time of the death of his wife, Amanda S., nee Colver, 21 months ago, he resided as 1245 Walnut St. Early in his life Mr. Dresher was a member of the clothing firm of H. M. Leh & Co., and later he operated a real estate business. He retired 15 years ago. He was a member of Christ Lutheran church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Kuhl and Mrs. Kelsay Morgan of Woodbury, N.J. Funeral arrangements will be completed today.

Dresher, John

John Dresher, a prominent and widely known resident of Longswamp township died at his home on Sunday morning shortly before three o'clock, aged seventy-seven years, three months and two days. He was a son of the late John and Diana, nee Grim, Dresher. Funeral services will be continued in Mertztown church, of which the deceased was a faithful member. The pastor of the congregation will have charge of the services. Two brothers, Nathan, of Reading, and Charles, of South Bethlehem, and one sister, Mrs. W. J. Grim, of this city, survive.

Dresher, Napoleon

Napoleon Dresher, a well-known farmer of Longswamp township, was stricken with apoplexy last Saturday evening a week at his residence near Farmington, and on Sunday evening following died. He was in his sixty-seventh year, and leaves a wife and six married children.

Dresher, Nathan

Another prominent citizen of Allentown to depart this life was Nathan Dresher, who died on Monday evening, aged 85 years. He was born in Longswamp township, Berks county. After working on the farm some years, he attended several select schools and moved with his parents to Allentown where he engaged in the lumber business which he conducted for many years. He accumulated considerable property and was a respected and popular man. His wife, nee Mary Zellers, and one daughter, the wife of Dr. Henry F. Martin, and two grandchildren survive.

Dresher, Nathan Sr.

The funeral of Nathan Dresher, Sr., of Reading, was held here and was largely attended. He formerly resided her for 20 years and owned a large farm here before he moved to Reading 30 years ago. Aged 79 years, 3 months and 12 days. He was a life long Lutheran member of the church here and also attended St. Michael's, Reading. Rev. Dr. E. S. Brownmiller, Rev. Luther Brownmiller and Rev. F. K. Bernd officiated.

Sadie S., wife of George Dresher, of Fullerton, died on Friday at her home after a lingering illness of consumption, aged 32 years. She was an Adams and was born in Longswamp. She was married twelve years ago and is survived by her husband, three children, Stella, John and George, all of Fullerton; several brothers and sisters and a number of stepbrothers and stepsisters. She was a member of the Mertztown Church. Her husband is employed at the Dent Hardware Works.

Grim, of Allentown; Nathan Dresher, of Reading; Charles Dresher, of Seipstown, and John Dresher, who resided with his brother. The funeral will be held on Thursday at 9.30 a.m. with services and burial at Mertztown, Rev. Barndt officiating.

Graveside services were held in Yocom's Cemetery, Grill, for Elaine M. Drexel, 66, Third Street Extension, Tilden Township, who died of natural cause Nov. 13 in Reading Hospital, where she had been a patient since Oct. 7. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald R. Drexel, who died July 27, 2001. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Lester M. and Ruth (Marks) Graeff. She was a 1954 graduate of Gov. Mifflin High School. Drexel was a former co-owner of Sunny's Sandwich Shop, Cumru Township, for 10 years. Surviving are a daughter, Donna L. (Drexel) Gerhart, Sinking Spring; a son, Timothy S. Drexel, Blandon; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Mrs. Amanda M., nee Fox, Drey, wife of Franklin L. Drey, died Monday at the residence of her son, Franklin Drey, near Seisholtzville. She was aged 77 years, 8 months and 25 days. She was born and raised at Pottstown and was a daughter of the late Joel and Carolina, nee Feather, Fox. Surviving are her husband and nine children: Joseph, Jersey City; Lewis, Lancaster; Franklin, near Seisholtzville; Claude and Walter, Reading; Earl, Jersey City; Mrs. Obediah Rhoads, Pottstown and Mrs. Joseph McDonald, Reading. Forty-one grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren also survive. The funeral will be held at 1 o'clock Friday at the funeral home of F. F. Seidel, 117 N. 5th St., Reading. Interment will be made in the Aulenbach Cemetery, Reading.

Drey, Charles, Jacob J. Reinhard, Oscar Reinhard, and Frank Eidel

A disastrous cave-in, in fact the most disastrous for years, occurred Saturday at 11 a.m. in the ore bed operated by Hartzell a. Swartz, on the property of Mrs. Ida Balliet, near Meyersville, about six miles north of this city, causing the death of four men. The dead are Jacob J. and Oscar Reinhard, of Hancock, Frank Eidle, of Topton, and Charles Drey, of Fredericksville, all of Berks county. The ore bed in which the accident occurred is the old Hiram Balliet bed which in the palmy days of ore mining in this county was one of the richest and to-day, many years after its first workers had given it up it is again mined with profit. There were forty-six men employed and at this time a day and a night shift were on. The mine proper is about 150 feet deep and is dug out for several acres. The cave-in, however, did not occur in the old mine but in a branch of it. Along the slope a second slope was dug into a rich vein of ore. This slope extended over a hundred feet and the richest ore was struck. This underground passage naturally was dangerous and the men had been told if they considered it dangerous they not go in. The temporary props were being put in by these men and they were finishing the last part, when from all indications, the ground, softened by the continuous rains, loosened and came down from the sides, breaking the temporary props and imprisoning the men to their death. Had the accident occurred ten minutes later, three more men would have been buried. They had been preparing a lot of things to be taken down and were about ready to go down. Immediately after the cave-in occurred, the proprietors exerted every effort to release the imprisoned miners. They decided upon the likely point they were buried and dug a shaft about twenty-five feet deep and then ran two drifts toward the point. The work naturally consumed a good deal of time and it took until yesterday morning that the bodies of three were found but could not be extricated up to last evening. The news of the disaster spread rapidly and Saturday afternoon and evening large crowds flocked to the place. As the entombed men came from along the East Penn, the trains from their homes brought a number of people from that section and yesterday several thousand people flocked there. From all sections of the county they came with teams. It was, however, not possible for the average visitor to see much as the working place was confined to a small space and the contractors did their utmost to hurry the work. As soon as the bodies of the men were discovered the news spread and it was then said the bodies would not be taken out at once on account of the crowd. Coroner Yost was sent for but when he arrived, the six legs of three men were exposed but it was impossible to extricate them on account of the heavy timbers and ground pinning them down. Last evening the digging of an extra drift was begun and with this it was hoped the bodies would be extricated. Up to last evening, they were, however, not released. Coroner Yost expects to hold the inquest this morning. Of the men killed, Jacob Reinhard is 35 years old and leaves a wife and two children. His brother, Oscar, is 32 and leaves a wife and three children. Frank Eidle is 30 and single. Charles Drey is 22 and single. All are poor.

Drey, Henry

Henry Drey, retired merchant and former resident of Norristown, died suddenly of a heart ailment at 12:45 p.m. yesterday, his 64th birthday anniversary, at his home, the resident of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Brintzenhoff at Lyons, Berks county. A native of Weisenberg township, Lehigh county, he was a son of the late Jonathan and Matilda (Gruber) Drey. He lived for many years in Norristown, where he was employed by the Pennsylvania railroad and later conducted a grocery store, retiring three and a half years ago following the death of his wife Sallie (DeLong) Drey. Mr. Drey was a member of Grace Lutheran church, Norristown, and was affiliated with the Masonic lodge of that place. Surviving him are one son, Vernon Drey, Norristown; one sister, Mrs. Joseph Detweiler, Skippack, and three brothers, Peter, Breinigsville; Jacob, Grimsville, and George Drey, Collegeville R.D. 1. Funeral services will be held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Brintzenhoff at Lyons on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. (DST) with continued services in Maxatawny Zion's church, Rev. William D. Dry of Kutztown officiating. Interment will be made in the cemetery adjoining the church. Viewing at the home on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Drey, Jacob

Jacob Drey, native of Lehigh county and resident of Topton, died at 1:40 o'clock yesterday morning in the Allentown hospital, where he had been a patient since Nov. 10 last year. He was 69 years old. A farm laborer, he was born Nov. 5, 1872, in the Topton area, and was a son of the late Jonathan and Malinda, nee Gruber, Drey. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Katie Detweiler of Skippack. The funeral will be held at the Schofer funeral home in Topton on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. with burial in Maxatawny cemetery. Rev. W. S. Drey will officiate at the services. Friends may call Friday evening from 7 to 9 o'clock.

Mrs. Judith E. Drey, 82, of Bowers, died yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter Irene, wife of Cyrus J. Oswald, of Bowers. Mrs. Drey, the widow of Charles A. Drey, was born in Rockland Township, Berks County, a daughter of the late William and Cordelia (Fegley) Mertz. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Bowers. She is survived by another daughter, Grace, wife of Howard D. Moyer, Bowers; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Sallie Oswald of Reading. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Trinity Lutheran Church, Bowers. Viewing will be 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at the Earl A. Trexler Funeral Home, 25 E. Weiss St., Topton.

Mrs. Lydia Kathryn (Carl) Drey, 76, of 30 S. 7th St., Allentown, died at 12:03 a.m. yesterday in Sacred Heart Hospital, where she was a patient for the last seven weeks. Mrs. Drey, the widow of Monroe W. Drey, was born in Earl Township, Berks County, a daughter of the late Edwin G. and Mary Y. (Wentzel) Carl. She lived in Allentown most of her life and was of the Lutheran faith. Surviving are a son, Clair, Coplay R. 1; two daughters, Mrs. Reuben Glick, Allentown R. 3, and Mrs. Peter Stout, Northampton; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Mary Mellot, Kutztown; Mrs. Sarah Jensen and Mrs. Cora Rinker, and a brother, Clair E. Carl, all of Allentown. She was preceded in death by her husband and six children. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the Trexler Funeral Home, 116 S. 8th St., Allentown.

Drey, Peter L.

Peter L. Drey, for the last ten years employed as gatekeeper at the Berks county almshouse, died there yesterday. He was taken ill suddenly and died within a short period thereafter. A native of Maxatawny township, Berks county, he was a son of the late Benneville and Esther (Lease) Drey. He was never married. Surviving are five sisters, Mrs. Annie Swoyer; Sarah, wife of Clinton Hoffer, and Dora, wife of James Gehris, all of Lyons Station; Mrs. Mary Fenstermacher, Topton, and Ida, wife of William Fenstermacher, Free Hall; and two brothers, David and Harvey, both of Reading.

Drey, Peter S.

Peter S. Drey of Breinigsville died at 10:30 am. yesterday in the Allentown hospital where he had been confined since June 26 as a surgical patient. He was 68 years old. Mr. Drey was employed as a loom moulder at the Kutztown Foundry and Machine Co. for 35 years. Born in Maxatawny township, Berks county, he was the son of Jonathan and Melinda, nee Gruber, Drey. Fraternally he was affiliated with Washington Camp No. 677 of Kutztown and Loyal Order of Moose No. 1325 of Kutztown. He was a member of the Lutheran wing of Zion church, Maxatawny. Surviving are his wife, Ellen C., nee Reppert; two daughters, Florence, wife of Frank Sterner, of Allentown; and Murlein, wife of Addison Muthard, of Breinigsville; two grandchildren; two brothers, George of Collegeville; and Jacob of Breinigsville; and a sister, Mrs. J. d. Detweiler, of Skippack. Rev. William Dry will officiate at short services Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at his late home and continued services in Maxatawny church. Interment will be made in the adjoining cemetery.

Dries, Charles L.

Dr. Charles L. Dries of Eshbach, a Berks County physician for 50 years, died yesterday morning in Sacred Heart Hospital. He was 82. Dr. Dries began practicing medicine in Eshbach in 1911 and treated patients from throughout Western Berks County until his retirement in 1961 at the age of 80. During his 50 years as a general practitioner, Dr. Dries delivered 2,242 babies, only one of them in a hospital. Dr. Dries was graduated from Kutztown State College in 1898 and taught school for four years before turning to the medical profession. He was graduated from the University of Maryland in 1906 and from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia in 1910. He was a member of the board of directors of the Boyertown National Bank. Born in Berks County, he was a son of the late Cyrus and Catherine (Leibold) Dries. He was the last of the couple's 16 children. Dr. Dries was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Boyertown. He was the husband of Estella (Hertzog) Dries, who died in 1953. Surviving are two daughters, Eleanor M. Dries of Ellicott City, Md., and Arlene J., wife of Earl W. Brumbach, with whom he resided, and a granddaughter. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the L. W. Ott Funeral Home, Boyertown. Viewing will be 7-9 p.m. tomorrow.

Dries, Emmaline D. (nee O'Boyle)

Fleetwood, Feb. 2 (Special). Emmaline D., Wife of Elias S. Dries, died in St. Joseph's Hospital of complications, aged 85 years, 11 months and 18 days. She was the daughter of the late William and Catherine (Dries) O'Boyle, and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, this borough. There survived her husband, one son Oscar, this borough; three daughters, Catherine, wife of William Dick, Reading; Mrs. Sally Merkel, Reading; Mamie, wife of Wilson Moyer, Allentown; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral Thursday at 1:30 PM, with all services in the St. Paul's Chapel, This Pl., Rev. William H. Kline officiating. Interment in St. Paul's cemetery. Funeral director Walter J. Christ has charge.

Mrs. Estella D. (Hertzog) Dries, 61, wife of Dr. Charles L. Dries, Eschbach, died Saturday at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Earl W. Brumbach, Eshbach. A lifelong resident of the Berks County community, she is a daughter of the late Alfred D. and Maryetta (Deysher) Hertzog. Graduate of Kutztown State Teachers College, she was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Boyertown, its Adult Bible Class and its Ladies Aid Society. She also was affiliated with the Faith Chapter, OES, Boyertown, and the Boyertown Woman's Club. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Eleanor M. Dries, Ellicott City, Md., and Arlene J., wife of Earl W. Brumbach; a brother, Norman D. Hertzog, Boyertown; two sisters, Anna R., wife of Dr. Harry E. Wagonhurst, Eshbach, and Mrs. Alma I. Werner, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and one granddaughter.

Mrs. Estella F Dries, 86, of 240 S 6th St., died this morning at 2:30 o'clock in the Hassler Home, Cumru Twp, where she was a guest for 10 days.

Born in Reading, a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs John B Weidner, she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He husband Rev. Dr. Wert A Dries, died Apr 2 1955.

Surviving are a son, David C, Scotch Plains, NJ. a daughter Mary E Ross, Williamsport; 11 grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren and a brother Charles H Dries, Reading.

Dries, Frank S.

Frank S. Dries, a farmhand on the farm of Dr. Harry Roshon at Maiden Creek, Bucks county, died yesterday morning of a heart attack. He was 76. Born in Maxatawny township, a son of the late Samuel and Louisa (Boger) Dries, he had been a farm worker all his life. For many years he had been employed on the farm of John Metzger at Maxatawny. He had been a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Kutztown and an associate member of several fire companies of the Blandon vicinity. There are no immediate survivors.

Dries, James

James Dries, residing on a farm near Lyons, was killed early yesterday morning on the P. and R. road near the Lyons station. His body was found by the crew of a train and just how the accident occurred will never be known. When found, his skull was crushed, his chest caved in and his limbs broken. Dries, who was a bachelor, lived a kind of hermit life, usually making his home in a cabin in the woods. He hired himself out as farm hand or lumberman. Lately he lived in a cabin near Dryville until two weeks ago he entered the employ of John Heffner, near Lyons. Deceased was a twin son of the late Simon and Susanna Dries, who lived near Kutztown. He is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Geo., Reading; David, near Kutztown; John, Shamrock; Charles, Allentown; Samuel, Shimersville; Mrs. Susan Snyder, Allentown; Mrs. Solomon Funk, Allentown, R. 1, and Mrs. Theodore Allender, Lestershire, N.Y.

James A. Dries, 56, of Emmaus R. 1, Borough Heights, died Sunday at 11:30 p.m. shortly after returning from evening services at the Mennonite Brethren in Christ church, Emmaus. Mr. Dries, a building contractor, had also attended morning services and Sunday school at the church. Born in Shamrock, Berks county, Mr. Dries was the son of John and Amanda, nee Rabenold, Dries. He resided in Emmaus 22 years and was a contractor and builder for many years. He was a member of the Mennonite Brethren in Christ church. Surviving are his wife, Lizzie M., nee Fenstermaker, and the following children: Paul A. Dries and Leon J. Dries, emmaus; Mrs. Richard Fritz, Breinigsville; Stanford Dries, Allentown; Duke Milo J. Dries, Allentown; Mrs. Edward Miller, Allentown; Kenneth R. Dries, U.S. Army; Ralph H. Dries, Selinsgrove, and Harold W. Dries, Miriam J. Dries and Esther L. Dries, all at home. Two brothers, Wayne Dries of Fleetwood and Lawson Dries of Allentown, two sisters, Mrs. Harry Zentner of Allentown and Mrs. Fred Eastman of Florida, and 11 grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the Ritter and Buzby Funeral home, 36-38 S. 5th St., Emmaus, with further service in the Mennonite Brethren in Christ church, Emmaus. Interment will be in Northwood cemetery, Emmaus. Rev. Frank B. Hertzog will officiate.

Mrs. John Dries, nee Romig, died at her home at Maple Grove, Berks county, on Tuesday at midnight after an illness of influenza, aged 40 years, 5 months and 14 days. She is survived by her husband and the following children: Earl A., Irene F. Clarence, LeRoy J., Alma A., and Emery M., all residing at home, also her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Romig. She was a member of the Reformed congregation at Mertztown. Funeral will be held on Saturday afternoon at 1.30 at the house. Interment in Mertztown cemetery. Rev. M. H. Brensinger will officiate.

John P. Dries, of near Locust Valley, died at his home there yesterday morning. He was 52 years, 10 months, and 27 days of age. Mr. Dries is survived by his widow Kate, nee Lewis, Dries and the following children: Earl and Willard, Hentzlorsville; LeRoy, Emory, Marvin and Glenn, at home; Mrs. Irene Bauman, Macungie; Alma, Coopersburg; Jane and Jeanette, at home; also by three step-children, Charles Erich, Va.; Ethel Erich, Northampton, and Gladys Erich, Emaus. Ten grandchildren and these brothers and sisters also survive, Sylvanus, Fleetwood; James, Emaus; Lawson, Bingen; Mrs. Elise Eastman, Hiorida; Mrs. Agnes Kistler and Mrs. Ada Zintner, Allentown. He was a member of the Reformed wing of the Mertztown church. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, daylight saving time, at his late home with continued services at 2 o'clock in the Mertztown church and interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Mrs. Mary M. (Merkel) Dries, 73, of 221 Greenwich St., Kutztown, died Saturday in the Hassler Convalescent Home, near Reading. She was the widow of George A. Dries. Born in Richmond Township, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Merkel. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Kutztown. She is survived by a son, Frank G. Dries, of Kutztown, and four grandchildren. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the William S. Fritz Funeral Home, Kutztown. Calling hours will be 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Mrs. Nora M. Dries, nee Keim, 72, wife of J. Eldridge Dries, 327 W. Walnut St., Kutztown, and mother of Mrs. Lewis E. Moyer, of this city, died at 12:10 a.m. Saturday at her home. She had been in failing health for several months. Born in Maiden Creek township, Berks county, she was a daughter of the late Sassaman and Mary (Hummel) Keim. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed church, Kutztown. Her husband is a retired employee of Berks county. Besides her husband and daughter, Hilda, wife of Lewis E. Moyer, of Allentown, she is survived by a sister, Mrs. Carrie Kohler, Cementon.

She was a member of Emmanuel Evangelical church. Survivors are the husband, two sons, Claude O. Dries of Allentown, and Fred O. Dries, Robesonia; two brothers, Henry, Hancock, and John, Reading, and six grandchildren.

Samuel Dries died at 1.30 p.m. Thursday, at the home of his son, David Dries, of Topton, of apoplexy, after being bedfast two weeks, aged 78 years, 10 months and 10 days. A sister, Mrs. William Fisher, of Monterey, remains. He was married on August 27, 1847, to Susanna Ruhl, who died December 12, 1899. Their union was blessed with sixteen children, of whom the following survive: David, of town; John, of Shamrock; Elijah, Charles and Samuel, of Emaus; William, of Lehighton; James, of Lyons; George, of Reading; Mrs. James Snyder, of Allentown; Mrs. Solomon Funk, of Cetronia; Mrs. Theodore Allender, of Pittston. There are 74 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held for Theresa C. Drogo, 75, of Schoffers Road, Exeter Township, who died February 4 in Beverly Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Exeter Township, where she had resided for 2-1/2 years. She was the wife of Joseph D. Drogo. Born in Reading, she was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church. Surviving are two sons, Lawrence J. and Dennis A., both of Exeter Township; and a daughter, JoAnn (Drogo) McDonald, Green River, Wyo. Other survivors include a brother, Stanley Grabowski, Mount Penn; and two sisters, Cecelia (Grabowski) Paholka, Reading, and Ann (Grabowski) Crouse, Lake Charles, La. There are also five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. The Lutz Funeral Home Inc., Mount Penn, handled the arrangements.

Aaron B. Druckenmiller, 88, off 33 ½ S. Jordan St., died Saturday afternoon in the Allentown hospital where he had been a patient for three weeks. Born at Longswamp township, Berks county, he was the son of the late Daniel and Elizabeth, nee Hilbert, Druckenmiller. Prior to his retirement 20 years ago, he had been employed by the Bear furniture factory for 25 years. He was a member of Longswamp Reformed church. His wife, Mary A.J., nee Smith, Druckenmiller, three children and one brother preceded him in death. The following children survive: Charles D., Shamrock; Jennie V., wife of Carl Colb; Fred B., Harry, Oscar F., all of this city; Cora, wife of Grover Cosner, Emmaus; and 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Trexler funeral home. Interment will be made in Longswamp cemetery, Longswamp.

Charles E. Druckenmiller, husband of Minerva S. (Walbert) Druckenmiller, of Shamrock, Berks County, died yesterday in his home. He was 78. He was a retired employe of the Reading Co. Born in Longswamp Township, he was a son of the late Benneville and Mary (Smith) Druckenmiller. He was a member of the UCC congregation of the Longswamp Union Church. In addition to his widow, he is survived by two sons, Paul S., of Shamrock, and Ralph E., at home; two sisters, Mrs. Cora Cosner, and Jennie, wife of Carl Kulp, both of Allentown, and a granddaughter. Clarence T. Druckenmiller, 57, of 38 Greenwich St., Kutztown, died Tuesday in Reading Hospital. Born in Kutztown, he was the son of the late Frank B. and Laura (Wessner) Druckenmiller. He was a former park superintendent in Kutztown and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn J. (Thomas) Druckenmiller; his stepmother, Mrs. Annie (Shankweiler) Druckenmiller, of Emmaus; three sons, Ronald F., of West Lawn; and Jay C. and Thomas G., at home; a sister Verna, wife of Thomas Edwards, of Springfield, Ohio; and a brother George, of Braintree, Mass. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in St. John's Lutheran Church. Calling hours will be Saturday noon to 2 p.m. in the church.

Druckenmiller, Elizabeth (nee Hilbert)

After an illness of nearly a year, although she was only bedfast the last two weeks, Mrs. Elizabeth Druckenmiller died at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the residence of her son Benneville, at No. 744 Union street, this city. She was nearly eighty-four years old. Death was due to dropsy. Deceased was a native of Berks county and was a daughter of the late Daniel and Susannah (Batz) Hilbert. Since the death of her husband, 20 years ago, she lived with her son Benneville. Eleven years ago, the family came to this city. She was a member of the Longswamp Lutheran congregation. Another son, Frank, resides at Mertztown. Three children preceded her in death. There are ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Druckenmiller, Franklin

Franklin Druckenmiller, retired cooper who was a lifelong resident of the vicinity of Longswamp township, Berks county, died yesterday morning at his home in Mertztown. He was in his 80th year. Born in Longswamp township, he was a son of the late Daniel and Elizabeth, nee Hilbert, Druckenmiller. He was of the Reformed faith and held membership in Longswamp church. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth, nee Eck, Druckenmiller; two daughters, Mrs. Henry Sterner and Mrs. George Hausman, Allentown; one brother, Benneville Druckenmiller of Allentown, and 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Private funeral services will be held at the late home Thursday at 1:30 p.m. with public services immediately following gin the Longswamp church, the Rev. William F. Bond officiating. Interment in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Druckenmiller, Mrs. H.D. (nee Wagenhurst)

Mrs. H.D. Druckenmiller, of Atlanta, Georgia, died on Saturday, April 13, in a hospital at that place, having undergone an operation. Interment will be made in Hope cemetery, this place. Deceased was a native of Kutztown, and was reared there. Her maiden name was Wagenhurst, and she has many relatives in Kutztown.

Druckenmiller, Henry

Henry Druckenmiller died on Monday of last week at his home at 1128 Chew street, this city, after a lingering illness with cancer and the infirmities of old age. He was the last of his family, and was born on March 21st, 1818, at Longswamp, Berks county. His father was Sebastian Druckenmiller and his mother was a Kline by birth. He was a farmer at his natal place until after his marriage to Polly Weida, of Lynn, when he removed to within a mile of Schnecksville. Here he tilled a small farm and huckstered. Then he moved to Schnecksville, whence he drove the mail to Allentown tri-weekly. When his wife died in 1885, he retired and moved to Hazleton, where he resided until about two and a half years ago. Then he moved to Allentown and lived her continuously from that time. Of nine children born to him and his wife, three are dead --- Mrs. Hiram Mertz, of Allentown, Mrs. John Snyder of Meyersville, and Wilson, who was killed on the Ironton railroad thirty years ago. Those surviving are henry F., of Guthsville; Sabina, of Philadelphia; Edwin G., Emma, Mrs. O. H. Hausman and Mrs. George F. Horn, of Allentown. There are also three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The funeral took place on Saturday.

Druckenmiller, Henry

Henry Druckenmiller died at his home, No. 1228 Chew street, of cancer and the effects of old age. He was born in Longswamp township, Berks county, March 21, 1818, and was married to Polly Weider. Early in life he moved to North Whitehall, one mile below Schnecksville, where he engaged in farming and huckstering. Later he carried the mail between Schnecksville and Allentown, three times a week, for fourteen years. He is survived by the following children: Henry F. Druckenmiller of Guthsville; Edwin G. Druckenmiller, of North Lumber street; Miss Emma Druckenmiller, of No. 1228 Chew street, this city; Miss Sabina Druckenmiller, Philadelphia; Mrs. O. H. Hausman, of 1216 Chew street, and Mrs. G. H. Horn, of 236 Jefferson street. Three grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive. Two of his daughter, Mrs. Hiram Mertz and Mrs. John Snyder are dead, and one son, Wilson, was killed some time ago on the Ironton Railroad. The funeral will take place on Saturday from his late residence at 11.30 a.m. Burial at Unionville.

Druckenmiller, Henry D.

Henry D. Druckenmiller died at noon Sunday at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Druckenmiller, 223 Wood St., Catasauqua. He had been ill a year. He was 84. Born in Longswamp Township, Berks County, he was a son of the late William and Mary Eck Druckenmiller. He was a retired farmer. Surviving are a son, Edwin; a brother, William, Allentown; three sisters, Mrs. Annie Kiehn, Reading; Mrs. Agnes Kline, Kutztown, and Mrs. Mary Yoder, East Texas; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Ida R. Litzenberger; his parents, two sons, a daughter and several brothers and sisters. He was a member of the Jordan Lutheran Church, Walberts, and the Golden Age Club, Allentown. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow in the Oliver S. Burkholder & Son Funeral Home, 3rd and Walnut St., Catasauqua.

Druckenmiller, Jacob

Jacob Druckenmiller, of Topton, died of paralysis of the heart, aged 72 years. He had called at the office of Dr. J. S. Smith for treatment when he complained of occasional pain in the side extending over the chest, but at the time said he was feeling well. The hostler called the doctor to the stable and when the latter re-entered the office, after an absence of about five minutes, he found Mr. Druckenmiller sitting on the couch dead. Squire H. A. Miller, deputy coroner, empaneled a jury. A verdict of death due to paralysis of the heart was rendered. Deceased was a rake maker by trade. His wife died about three years ago. The following children survive. Fayette, of Reading, Moses and Hiram, of Catasauqua; Mrs. Mary Weaver of Fogelsville; Mrs. Daniel Grosscup, of Topton, and David, of Rockland.

John A. Druckenmiller, 68, of Reading, brother of several Allentonians, died Thursday in the Reading hospital after an illness of nine days. He was born in Longswamp, a son of the late William and Mary (Eck) Druckenmiller, and lived in Reading 35 years. He had been employed as a watchman by the Althouse Chemical Co. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn, nee Baieghkley, Druckenmiller; 11 children, nine grandchildren and these brothers and sisters: William Druckenmiller, Allentown; Mrs. Carrie Kunkle, Allentown; Mrs. Agnes Klein, Fogelsville; Mrs. Sallie Alexander, Topton; Mrs. Mary Yoder, Bowers; Henry Druckenmiller, Kutztown, and Mrs. Annie Himmelreich, Harrisburg.

Druckenmiller, Laura (nee Wessner)

Laura (Wessner), wife of B. Frank Druckenmiller, Kutztown, died at 5:45 Friday morning in the Allentown hospital, to which institution she had been admitted nine weeks ago for an operation. She had been ill for several months prior to being taken to the hospital. She was aged 50 years, 5 months and 13 days. She was a lifelong resident of Kutztown and was a member of St. John's Lutheran church, a member of the Ladies' Aid Society and of the Luther League. There survive her husband; these children: George, Olean, N.Y.; Clarence and Verna, at home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Wessner; and a brother, George, of Kutztown. Funeral Tuesday, December 6, at 1:30 p.m., from the home, 254 East Main street. Further services in St. John's Lutheran church, Rev. J. W. Bittner officiating. Interment in Hope Cemetery.

Druckenmiller, Lydia Elizabeth (nee Dey)

Lydia Elizabeth, nee Dey, widow of David R. Druckenmiller, died at 6:50 o'clock Monday morning at her home, Smoketown, Mertztown, R.D. 2, of a complication of ailments. She was in her 74th year. She was born in Rockland township, Berks county, a daughter of the late John and Sarah, nee Renninger, Dey. For many years she was a faithful member of the Trinity Lutheran church, Bowers. Her only immediate surviving relative is a son, Daniel Druckenmiller, at home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m., at the Irwin DeLong funeral home, Topton. Rev. W. F. Bond, of Shamrock, will officiate. Interment will be made in Union cemetery, Bowers.

Mary Ann Druckenmiller, widow of William D. Druckenmiller, passed away at Shillington on Tuesday. She was aged 86 years, 4 months and 19 days. Mrs. Druckenmiller was born August 14, 1847, the daughter of Evans Eck and his wife Caroline, nee Dey, Eck. She was a member of the Longswamp Lutheran church and Camp No. 30, P.O. of A., of Allentown. She is survived by nine children, Mrs. Annie Himmelreich, of Reading; Mrs. James Alexander, of Mertztown R. D.; Mrs. Albert Kunkle, of New Tripoli; Solon Kline, of Fogelsville; Mrs. Mahlon Yoder, of Mertztown; John, of Reading; Henry and Joseph, of Mertztown, and William of Allentown. One sister, Mrs. Frank Druckenmiller, of Mertztown; three brothers, benneville Eck, of Shamrock; Manoah Eck, of Allentown; Alvin Eck, of Emaus; 33 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren also survive. The body will be removed from Shillington to the funeral parlors of Undertaker Irwin D. DeLong of Topton, for the viewing to be held on Friday evening from 7 to 9. Services will be held at Longswamp church, at 2 o'clock Saturday. Interment will be made in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. William F. Bond, of Shamrock, will officiate.

Death on Tuesday evening called Mary Jane, nee Smith, the estimable wife of A. Benneville Druckenmiller, of Mertztown, R.F.D. No. 1, the end coming there at her home after a lengthy illness of a complication of ailments. She was in her 69th year. Mrs. Druckenmiller was born in South Whitehall township, Lehigh county, a daughter of George and Anna Eliza, nee Miller, Smith. She was a faithful member of the Reformed congregation of the Longswamp church. Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn her passing the following children: Alfred B., at home; William L., Harry H., Oscar F., Mrs. Howard Everett and Mrs. A. Hottinger, Allentown, and Charles D. and George H., of Catasauqua, together with fifteen grandchildren, and a brother, George Smith, of Cetronia. The funeral will be held from her late home, near Trexler's Furnace, on Saturday at 1.30 p.m. Brief services will be held at the house, with further services in the Longswamp church, Rev. W. L. Meckstroth officiating. Interment will be made in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Milton J. Druckenmiller, 59, husband of Florence (Steinmetz) Druckenmiller, died at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at home, 1606 Main St., Northampton. Born in Topton, he was the son of the late Moses and Ellen (Pauley) Druckenmiller. He resided 35 years in Northampton. For the past year, Druckenmiller was employed at United Dye and Finishing Works, Catasauqua. He had previously been employed at Vultee's plant in Allentown, and Atlas Cement Co. Besides his wife, survivors are four daughters, Erma, wife of John Regrut, Phillipsburg, N.J.; Beatrice, wife of Harry J. Simmons, Northampton; Thelma, wife of Woodrow Green, Cherryville; Doris, wife of Joseph Hager, Cherryville; one son, Richard, at home, 10 grandchildren, one sisters, Mrs. Emma Buss, Bethlehem; one brother, Morris Druckenmiller, Barberton, Ohio.

Druckenmiller, Moses

Ill from complications for the last two years, Moses Druckenmiller, of 1142 Fourth street, Catasauqua, died at 10:15 o'clock Sunday night in his late home at the age of 70 years. He was born in Rockland township, Berks county, a son of the late Jacob and Hettie (Newhard) Druckenmiller. Until two years ago, when ill health forced him to retire, he had been a cement worker. Mr. Druckenmiller was a member of the Fraternal Home insurance society of Allentown, and of St. Paul's Lutheran church, Catasauqua. He leaves his widow, Ellen J. (Pauley) Druckenmiller; two sons, Morris F., of Hokendauqua, and Milton J., of Northampton; a daughter, Mrs. R. S. Buss, of Bethlehem, and twelve grandchildren. Rev. James F. Lambert will officiate at the funeral services in his late home on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will be made in Allen-Union cemetery.

Druckenmiller, Peter

Stricken with apoplexy last Wednesday, Peter Druckenmiller, of 332 North Franklin street, lingered until Saturday night at 7.45 o'clock, when he passed away at his home, aged 54 years. Mr. Druckenmiller was a native of Longswamp township and was a son of the late Hiram and Susanna, nee Stofflet, Druckenmiller. He has been a resident of this city for a number of years. He is survived by his widow, Mary A., nee Roberts, Druckenmiller, and one son, David. The following sisters and brothers also survive: George and Benjamin, Bethlehem; Tilghman, Catasauqua; Mrs. Arthur Roth, Coplay; and Mrs. Nevin Haas, this city. He was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran church and the Men's society of the congregation. He was also affiliated with Mertztown Council, 443, O. of I.A., and Allen Ruling, 814, F.M.C., this city. The funeral will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. from his late home. Rev. Anson W. Lindenmuth, pastor of St. Stephen's church, will officiate. Interment will be made in Greenwood cemetery.

Druckenmiller, Sallie Ann (nee Wetzel)

Mrs. Sallie Ann Druckenmiller, 93-year-old former resident of Emmaus, died yesterday morning in Highland Park, Easton. Mrs. Druckenmiller was born July 30, 1853, in Longswamp township, Berks county. She resided in Hereford with her husband, the late Addison Druckenmiller, for 30 years and in 1905 moved to Emmaus, where she lived until six years ago. She was a daughter of the late George and Lovina (Conrad) Wetzel and was of the Reformed faith. The head of five generations, Mrs. Druckenmiller is survived by four sons, Erwin, Herbert, John and Percival Druckenmiller, all of Emmaus; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild. Besides her husband, who died 40 years ago, three children preceded her in death. Services will take place Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Ritter and Buzby funeral home, 36-38 S. 5th St., Emmaus, with burial in Lutheran and Reformed cemetery. Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.

Drumheiser, Charles

In an effort to tighten the brakes of a large coal car at Alburtis, on Tuesday forenoon, Charles Drumheiser, a brakeman on the Reading pickup train, slipped on the icy platform and fell under the wheels. Both legs were severed below the knees. He was rushed to the Reading Hospital on a special train but the loss of blood was so great that he died at the hospital the same evening. Mr. Drumheiser, who was 31 years old, is survived by his wife and three children who resided at No. 1324 Green street, Reading. He was a prominent member of the Brotherhood of American Trainmen, and was very popular among his fellow employes.

Charles Y. Drumheller, 62, died at his home in Reading Wednesday afternoon after a short illness. The son of the late Ringold and Sarah Ann, nee Youst, Drumheller, he had been employed for many years at the Kissinger Market house. There survive his wife, Irene, nee Heinly, Drumheller; two sisters, Katie, widow of Hiram Stauffer, and Ellen, widow of Howard Hassler, both of Reading; three brothers, Warren and Calvin, Reading; and Edwin, Leesport. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Gibson funeral home, Reading, with Rev. Hadby in charge. Further services will be held at 3 p.m. at the Pennsburg Lutheran church, Pennsburg, with Rev. William Kistler officiating. Interment in Union cemetery, Pennsburg.

Drumheller, Harvey L.

Services were held for Harvey L. Drumheller, 86, who died November 12 in his residence on Club Road, Earl Township. He was the husband of Dorothy E. (Conrad) Drumheller. His first wife, Edna M. (Heimbach) Drumheller, died in 1968. Born in Earl Township, he was employed for many years by Eastern Foundry, Boyertown, retiring in 1979. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Spangsville. Drumheller was a life member of the Pike Township Sportsman's Association. He is also survived by four stepsons: Roger A. and Barry L. Hess, both of Pennsylvania; Elias H. Hess, Fleetwood; and Richard H. Hess, Boyertown. Also three stepdaughters: Geraldine M. (Hess) Readinger, Oley; Marie A. (Hess) Day, Mertztown; and Sarah A. (Hess) Day, Alburtis. Also surviving are a brother, Paul, Boyertown; and a sister, Anna (Drumheller) Goodhart, Reading. There are also 20 stepgrandchildren and 15 stepgreat-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a stepson. Burial was in Oley Cemetery, Spangsville. The Christ & Catagnus Funeral Home Inc., Oley, handled the arrangements.

Drumheller, Robert D.

Services were held for Robert D. Drumheller, 71, who died April 6 in his residence on Butter Lane, Exeter Township. He was the husband of Florence E. (Ramsey) Drumheller. Born in Earlville, he was employed for 45 years by McCrory's department stores, last working as manager at the Reading store from 1977 until his retirement in 1994. He was a 1951 graduate of Reading High School. Drumheller was a Navy veteran. Also suriviving are two sons, Robert J., Exeter Township, and David D., Reading; and two daughters, Kim E. Drumheller, Novato, Calif., and Sue A. Drumheller, Reading. Also surviving are seven grandchildren. Burial was private in Oley Cemetery, Spangsville. The Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, handled the arrangements.

Drupp, Elmer H.

Elmer H. Drupp, 82, of Oley R D 2, died Friday at 7:27 p.m. shortly after arrival in St. Joseph Hospital. He was the husband of Edna L. (Long) Drupp. His first wife Annie R (Long) Drupp, died in 1961. Born in Reading he was a son of the late John P. and Hettie (Keller) Drupp.

He had been employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for 10 years before retiring. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Other survivors include several nieces and nephews.

The Daniel R. Christ Funeral Home, Oley, is in charge of arrangements.

Druss, Julius J.

Julius J. Druss, 85, of 303 W. Wyomissing Blvd., formerly of Lansford, Carbon Co., died Feb 7 in Spruce Manor, West Reading. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Jean (Hand) Druss. Born in Lansford, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Druss.

He had been employed by the Lehigh Coal and Navigation Co., Lansford, and was last employed by the Bethlehem Steel Corp., until retiring. He was an Army veteran of WWII. He was a member of Advent Lutheran Church, West Lawn, and also Trinity Lutheran Church, Lansford.

Surviving is a stepson Robert Fenstermacher, with whom he resided. Also surviving are four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a. m. in Skrabak-Parambo Funeral Home, Lansford. Burial will be in GAR Cemetery, Summit Hill, Carbon County.

Dry, Alvin W.

Found Dead in His Hotel. Mystery Surrounds the Death of A.W. Dry in Douglassville, Penn. Reading, Penn., Sept. 1.--News reached here that Alvin W. Dry, formerly of Reading, one of the best known hotel keepers in this part of Pennsylvania, died a violent death at his Summer hotel at Douglassville, Berks County.

Mr. Dry's body was found lying in an upstairs hallway with a wound in his right temple. It was rumored that Mr. Dry was struck on the head with a beer glass in the hands of some person. The District Attorney of Berks County was notified by Detective William Y. Lyon, and went to Douglassville to investigate.

The general belief is that the man died from heart disease and dropsy; that he fell and struck his head.

Dry, Augustus F.

Augustus F. Dry, aged 55 years, 3 months and 14 days, died of hemorrhage of the lungs at his home at New Jerusalem, Berks county. He was a son of Hannah and the late John Dry. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, three brothers, Rev. Charles F. Dry, of Mifflinsville; Hiram F. Dry, of Oley; Alvin F. Dry, of Bechtelsville, and the following children: Lizzie, Mayme and Bertha, of Philadelphia, and William S., a student at Mt. Airy Theological Seminary, Philadelphia. He was an active member of Christ Lutheran (Mertz) Church, of Dryville, and served as elder and deacon. He belonged to Landisville Council, No. 1007, O. of I.A., of Landis' Store; Manatawny Castle, No. 461, K.G.E., of Pleasantville, and Lyons Lodge, No. 634, I.O.O.F., of Lyons.

Mrs. Clara E. Dry, 90, of Wernersville State Hospital, formerly of Mertztown R. 1, died Monday in Reading Hospital. She was the widow of Moody S. Dry. Born in Longswamp Township, she was a daughter of the late Allen and Hannah (Hoffman) Liebensberger. Surviving are six sons, Allen W., of boyertown; Paul, of Pottstown R. 1; Moody, of Allentown; Richard, of Bethlehem; and James and Ralph, both of Mertztown R. 2; a daughter, Helen, of Islip, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Claude Elmer Dry, aged 6 years and 9 months died at the residence of his parents in Longswamp township, Sunday at 6.00 a.m. Death was due to pneumonia. He was the son of Moody and Clara, nee Leibensperger, Dry. Surviving are the parents, two sisters, Helen and Sarah, and six brothers, Paul, Moody, James, Wayne, Carl and Allen. Private funeral services will be held from the residence of the parents today, Tuesday. Interment will be made in the Lyons cemetery. Rev. Lewis F. Foltz will officiate.

Dry, David

Early yesterday (Monday) morning, a fatal accident occurred at the steam roller flour mill of the Rohrbach Bros., at Topton, David Dry, one of the millers, being the victim. He entered the mill at a very early hour so as to be able to dress a large stone before the customary time for setting the machinery in motion for the day. He was all alone, and when he turned the stone to dress the underside, a bolt broke, causing it to fall on him, crushing the life out of him instantly. When the other employees of the mill entered, they found him under the stone, dead. A Coroner's jury rendered a verdict of accidental death. The deceased left a family.

Dry, Ellen C. (nee Reppert)

Mrs. Ellen C. Dry, 78, died at 8:30 last night at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Addison E. Muthard, Breinigsville, with whom she was residing. She had been in ill health for many years. Born in Longswamp township, Berks county, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Susanna Angstadt Reppert. She had lived in Breinigsville for more than 25 years and was a member of the Lutheran congregation of the Maxatawny church and the home department of the Sunday school. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Muthard; Mrs. Frank Sterner, Allentown; two grandchildren, Alton and Eleanor Muthard; a great-grandson; and a brother, Willis, Topton. Her husband, Peter S. Dry, died 11 years ago.

Dry, George W.

George W. Dry, former Burgess of Topton, and traveling salesman and lately a garage proprietor, died at 3.30 Friday morning at the Reading hospital, to which he was admitted two weeks ago suffering from Bright's disease. He had been in ill health for the past two years. Mr. Dry was born at Topton 52 years ago, a son of the late James and Rebecca, nee Keller, Dry. His home was at Topton for the greater part of his life. About a year and a half ago he moved to Sinking Spring, where he engaged in the garage business associated with A. N. Kline, of Reading. He was a traveling salesman until four years ago, making many trips to the Pacific coast and practically every state in the union as a representative of two Reading clothing manufacturers, Leinbach Brothers and A. J. Brumbach. He also represented the Lawrence Webster company, of Malone, N.Y. He took an active interest in politics, being a staunch Democrat, and served for some time as chief burgess of Topton. His influence aided greatly in the procuring of the concrete road from the William Penn highway to Topton. Mr. Dry was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church, Lyons. Fraternally he was affiliated with the F. and A.M., at Seattle, wash., the Reading Lodge of Perfection, Reading Consistory, and Rajah Temple. There survive his widow, Sallie, nee Merkle, Dry, a daughter, Virginia, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. George Wagaman, James Dry and Edwin Dry, Kutztown; Albert Dry, this city; Elmer and Sylvester Dry, Fleetwood; Philip Dry, Blandon, and Moody Dry, Mertztown. The remains were taken from the hospital to the residence of his wife's parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Merkle, Smith street, Topton, at which place the funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1.30 p.m., Rev. Foltz officiating. Interment will be made in the Lyons cemetery.

Helen W. Dry, 87, formerly of Securda Road, Shillington, died Friday at ManorCare Health Services Inc., Spring Township, Berks County, where she had been a resident since 2001. Born in Mahanoy City, she was a daughter of the late John A. and Katie J. West Yates. She was a 1933 graduate of Reading High School. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Shillington. Her husband, George E., died Oct. 5, 1994. Surviving are two nieces and two nephews. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from Bean Funeral Home Inc., Shillington. Interment will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.

Dry, Moody S.

Moody S. Dry, 77, was found dead yesterday afternoon in his home in Longswamp Township, Berks Co. Death was reported due to natural causes. Born in Rockland Township, he was the son of the late James and Sarah (Angstadt) Dry. Retired for the last three years, he was employed for many years at the Allentown State Hospital. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lyons, and a member of the Rittersville Fire Co. Besides his widow, Clara (Leibensperger) Dry, he is survived by seven sons. They are Allen, New Berlinsville; Paul, Pottstown; Moody, Mountainville; James, Mertztown R. 1; Wayne, Mertztown R. 1; Richard, Bethlehem; Ralph, Mertztown R. 1. He is also survived by two daughters, Pearl, Emmaus; and Helen; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Elmer, Fleetwood R. 1; Sylvester, Kutztown; Edwin, Kutztown; Phillip, Blandon, Berks Co.; and one sister, Mrs. Hannah Wagaman, Kutztown. Funeral services will be held at the Schofer Funeral Home, Topton, 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Dry, Nicholas K.

Nicholas K. Dry, a veteran of the Civil War, died after an illness of six months of heart failure and dropsy at the residence of his son, William W., about a mile east of Dryville, aged 80 years, 5 months and 26 days. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. Services by Rev. William H. Kline, of Topton. The deceased is survived by the following children besides the son with whom he resided: George, Boyertown; Mrs. John B. Scheidt, Dryville; Mrs. Charles Kaufman, Reading. One sister, Susannah, of near Dryville, and ten grandchildren also survive. Mr. Dry resided all his life in Rockland and held many township offices. His wife died three years ago.

Sarah C. Dry, for the past two years employed in the home of Attorney James F. Henninger, 1649 Linden street, died Friday at the Sacred Heart hospital from a complication of ailments. She was aged 20 years. She was a daughter of Moody S. and Clara Leibensperger Dry and was born in Longswamp township, Berks county, and resided there with her parents until two years ago when she became employed at the Henninger home in this city. She was a member of the Longswamp Sunday school. Besides her parents, she is survived by a sister, Helen, and six brothers, Paul, Moody, James, Wayne, Richard and Ralph, all at home. The funeral will be held from the funeral parlors of J. J. Schofer and Son, Topton, Wednesday afternoon at 1.30 o'clock, daylight time. Regular services will be held in St. Paul's church, Lyons, Rev. Raymond Miller officiating. Interment will be made in the Lyons cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday night from 7 to 9 o'clock.

Dry, William S.

Rev. William S. Dry, pastor of the Maxatawney parish for the last 21 years, died Sunday morning at his home, 257 E. Main St., Kutztown, aged 59 years, 8 months and 29 days. He was born in Rockland township, Berks county, a son of Augustus F. and Annie, nee Boyer, Dry. He was graduated from the Keystone State Normal school in 1903, from Muhlenberg college in 1906, and from the Lutheran seminary at Mt. Airy in 1909. Rev. Dry was ordained on June 7, 1909, in the Church of Holy Communion, Philadelphia, and accepted his first call to the Stouchsburg parish. In 1921 he accepted the parish at Maxatawney, comprising the churches at Maxatawney, Mertztown and Beckers St. Peter's. The University of Pennsylvania awarded him a Master of Arts degree in 1923. He was a member of the Eastern Berks Pastoral Association, and Post L of the Travelers Protective association of Allentown. He is survived by his wife Emma, nee Hartman, Dry; two sons, Private John Dry of Fort Eustes, Va., and Lieutenant Frederick Dry of Camp Breckenridge of Kentucky, and three sisters, Mrs. John L. Walsh, Mrs. Joseph Eppley and Mary A. Dry, all of Philadelphia. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the Maxatawney church with interment in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. E. P. Pfatteicher, president of the Lutheran Ministerium of Pennsylvania, Rev. Luke Sweitzer of Reading, Rev. William H. Kline of Topton, and Rev. F. D. Slifer of Topton, will officiate.

Duckworth, Marian J.

Services were held for Marian J. Duckworth, 72, of Warner Robins, Ga., formerly of Boyertown, who died June 2 in her home. She was born in Boyertown and was a 1947 graduate of Boyertown Area High School. She was an Air Force veteran and achieved the rank of sergeant. Duckworth was an active member of the Gold Cup Bowling Center in Warner Robins, Georgia. She was a certified director of the Macon Duplicate Bridge Club for more than 25 years, and a ACBL Life Master in bridge. Surviving are four sons, James A. Duckworth of Atlanta, Randal Duckworth of Warner Robins, Jeffrey Duckworth of Austin, Texas, and Donavan Duckworth of Warner Robins; two brothers, Junior Bartman and Paul Bartman, both of Boyertown; and nine grandchildren. The Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Warner Robins, handled the arrangements. Burial was in the Andersonville National Cemetery in Georgia.

Dugan, Dawn

Services were held for Dawn (Chamar) Dugan, 76, of Washington Road in Washington Township, formerly of Collegeville, who died November 5 in Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. She was the widow of James H. Dugan. Born in Lower Providence, she was a graduate of Haverford High School. She retired in 1990 from Ursinus College, where she ran the copy center for 18 years. Dugan was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sassamansville. She founded the former Swamp Creek Women's Club and was a volunteer with the Lupus Foundation and was a former Cub Scout Leader. Surviving are two sons, James H. Dugan Jr. of Upper Hanover and Paul G. Dugan of Barto; two daughters, Dawn Kelsch of Washington Township and Marian Valerio of Royersford; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Chamar; and one great-granddaughter. Contributions may be made to Boyertown Area Multi-Service Inc., 301 West Spring St., Boyertown, PA 19512. Burial was in Valley Forge Memorial Gardens in Upper Merion. The arrangements were handled by the Holcombe Funeral Home, Trappe.

Kathleen A. Dugan, 53, of 2728 Kutztown Road, Hyde Park, Muhlenberg Township, died Thursday at St. Joseph's Medical Center, Reading. Born in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late Bernard and Kathryn McKiernan Buggy. She was employed by Montgomery Ward, Reading, last working in March. She was active in Berks County Democratic politics. Her husband, James T., died in 1995. Surviving are two sons, Scott C., Fleetwood, and Todd C., Reading; a daughter, Lori A. Dugan, Reading; four grandchildren. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from Walter R. Christ Funeral Home Inc., Laureldale. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Dumn, Frank E.

Frank E. Dumn, deputy clerk of the court of quarter sessions of Berks county, died Sunday afternoon at his residence in Reading. Death was due to heart trouble. Deceased was 27 years of age and was born at Fleetwood. He graduated from Girard College. He was a law student until appointed deputy clerk in the office of his brother, Clerk of the Quarter Sessions, Harry Dumn. He was married last Thanksgiving Day to Miss Susan Bishop, who survives.

Duncan, Linda

A memorial service was held for Linda A. (Henry) Duncan, 52, of Berwyn, Chester County, and formerly of Bechtelsville, who died December 4 in Bryn Mawr Hospital. She was the wife of N. Clifford Duncan. Born in Pottstown, she was a daughter of Ivo G. and Dorothy M. (Mehlman) Henry, Bechtelsville. She graduated from St. Piux X High School in 1968 and received a degree in elementary education from Bloomsburg State College in 1972. She was a teacher at Most Blessed Sacrament School in Bally for five years, at the Heritage School in Wayne, Delaware County, and the Footsteps Academy in King of Prussia, which she co-founded. In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by two sons, Nathaniel J. Duncan and Matthew A. Duncan, both of Berwyn. Also three sisters and two brothers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nathan and Matthew Duncan Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Commerce Bank 100 E. Swedesford Road, Devon, PA 19333. The memorial service was held at Hope Community Church, King of Prussia.

Dundon Sr., died in 1961. Dundon was born in Reading. Surviving is a son, John H. Jr., Reading, and two daughters, Sandra (Dundon) Krause, Leesport, and Jacquelyn Dundon, Earlville. Also surviving is a sister; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services were in St. Johns (Hains) Cemetery, Wernersville. Dundore, Wellington D.

Wellington D. Dundore, a once prosperous merchant tailor of Reading, ended his life there Tuesday of last week by taking a dose of opium. He was 56 years old. For the last 41 years Dundore had his hair cut at exactly five minutes of 12 on the last night of the year, the job being finished in the new year. He believed that the cutting of his hair in this manner brought him good luck and made the growth more rapid. Dundore's barber would always prepare for the occasion and at midnight would be ready to fix up his old customer.

Dunkel, Susanna (nee Sittler)

Mrs. Susanna Dunkel, wife of James Dunkel, a retired farmer of Maxatawny, near Rothrocksville, died at her home on Sunday of valvular disease of the heart and dropsy, aged seventy-eight years. She was the daughter of the deceased Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Sittler and was born in Richmont township, Berks county. She was the last of the family. Four daughters survive as follows: Mrs. Wilson Smith and Mrs. George Deisher, Maxatawny; Mrs. Ellsworth Eck, Tamaqua, and Mrs. Edwin Angstadt, Kutztown. Ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. Funeral services will be held from her late home on Friday at 9.30 o'clock, with further services and interment at Maxatawny Zion church.

Services were held in the Auman Funeral Home, Reading, for Betty Jane Dunkelberger, 80, Muhlenberg Township, who died Nov. 23 in Reading Hospital, where she had been a patient since Nov. 3. Burial was in St. Luke's Cemetery, Shoemakersville. She was the wife of Glenn W. Dunkelberger. Born in Perry Township, she was a daughter of the late Bright R. and Verna (Dunkelberger) Keim. She was a 1938 graduate of Perry High School and a 1943 graduate of Bucknell University. Until retiring, she was a teacher in the Gov. Mifflin and Reading school districts, and had previously been employed as an accountant for Metropolitan Edison Co. Dunkelberger formerly co-owned the Jane Rae Gift Shop at the Reading Motor Inn. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Reading. Also surviving are a daughter, Kristine K. (Ketner) Moyer, Wyomissing; a stepdaughter, Sheila (Dunkelberger) Fulton, Kutztown; and a stepson, Glenn W. Dunkelberger Jr., Norcross, Ga. There are also four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Daniel Dunkelburger, who died of rheumatism near Hain's Church, in Lower Heidelberg, was 79 years old. He is survived by his widow, Catharine, and these sons and daughters: Levi, at home; Daniel, near Sinking Spring; and Sallie, wife of Reuben Bressler, Reading. Mr. Dunkelberger was a member of Hain's and was a stone mason by trade.

Born in Wernersville, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Sarah (Brossman) Klopp. Dunkelberger had been employed 45 years as a mender and folder by the former Gloray Knitting Mill, Robesonia, retiring in 1975. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. Services will be Tuesday at 2 P.M. in Lamm & Witman Funeral Home Inc., Wernersville. Burial will be in Hain's Church Cemetery, Lower Heidelbert Township.

Dunkelberger, May I., passed away at her home December 7, 1949. She was aged 31 years, 4 months, and 23 days. Mrs. Dunkelberger was a member of the Good Neighbor Club, of the Berks unit of the Pennsylvania Federation of the Blind, and of the Salem E.C. Church, Hamburg. Dunkelberger, Melvin C.

The funeral of Melvin C., son of Paul B. and Mary H. Dunkelberger, took place from the residence of the parents, 919 Franklin street. Rev. A.W. Brownmiller conducted the services. The remains were attired in a white dress and reposed in a plush covered casket, with silver trimmings, extension bar handles and plate bearing name and age. The remains were taken to Shoemakersville, where interment took place. Undertaker Auman had charge.

Dunkle, Arthur W.

Arthur W. Dunkle, 87, formerly of 221 N. Fourth St., Hamburg, died Wednesday at Laurel Center Genesis Health Care, Tilden Township, where he lived since March 18, 1996. Born in Drehersville, he was a son of the late Oscar and Jane Ernst Dunkle. He had been employed for 25 years as a molder by Berks Foundry, Hamburg, and was last employed on a road crew by Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, last working in 1967. He was a member of Zion's Red United Church of Christ, Orwigsburg, and a life member of Union of Hamburg and Temple fire companies. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Lena M. Machemer, on Dec. 5, 1992, a daughter, Helen M. Flammer. Surviving are two sons, Marlin C., at home, and Ray A. Sr., RD2 Orwigsburg; a brother, Clarence, Reedsville; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from Burkey and Driscoll Funeral Home, Hamburg. Interment will be in Red Church Cemetery, West Brunswick Township.

Among the local survivors of Betty M. (Rothermel) Dunkle, of Temple, who was dead on arrival March 27 in Reading Hospital, are two sons, Jamie W. Dunkle and Randy L. Dunkle, both of Blandon.

Dunkle, Randall A.

Graveside services were held in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg, for Randall A. Dunkle, 89, formerly of Chew Street, Hamburg, who died Feb. 7 in Luther Acres Hospital, Lititz, Lancaster County. He was predeceased by his wife, Harriett E. (Gordon) Dunkle, who died Oct. 31, 1999. Born in Hamburg, he was a son of the late Samuel and Judith (Levan) Dunkle. Until retiring in 1993, he was employed as a real estate agent by Epting Realty and Klinger Associates, both of Hamburg. He was previously employed by Anthony's Dairy, Strausstown. He was a 1930 graduate of Hamburg High School. Dunkle was a past master of Vaux Lodge 406 Free and Accepted Masons, Hamburg. He was a member of First United Church of Christ, Hamburg, where he was elder emeritus and a member of the consistory and choir. Surviving are a brother, Paul Dunkle, in New Mexico. The Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Hamburg, was in charge of arrangements.

Dunkle, William

William Dunkle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dunkle, died of lung affection, aged 23 years, at Boyertown. His mother and two sisters, Mrs. Newton Erb and Mrs. William Houck, and one brother, all of Boyertown, and two brothers in Reading, and one in Allentown, survive. Deceased served in the Spanish-American War and had several narrow escapes. His father and one sister preceded him in death. His father died while proprietor of the Union House. Funeral on Sunday at 8.30 a.m., to proceed to Kutztown. Rev. A. M. Weber officiating at Boyertown, and a Kutztown pastor at Kutztown.

Mrs. Emma Dunn, wife of Elmer Dunn, of Longswamp, died late yesterday afternoon at the Allentown hospital, where she was admitted for medical treatment on November 15. She was 46 years of age.

Dunstan, Clara (nee Schmoyer)

Following a serious illness of the past ten days from complications, Mrs. Clara, nee Schmoyer, wife of John H. Dunstan, died at the family home, Mertztown R. 1, between Fredericksville and Henningsville, Thursday afternoon at 3.30 o'clock in her 76th year. Mrs. Dunstan was born at Macungie, a daughter of the late Tilghman and Christiana, nee Rice, Schmoyer. She was twice married. Her first husband was the late David Ziegler. She is survived by her second husband and the following children: Morris Ziegler, Bridgeport, N.J.; Mrs. Agnes Reigner, Glenside; Herbert Ziegler, North Wales; Mrs. Leroy Hood, Oxford, N.J.; George Ziegler, Detroit, Mich.; Edward and Charles Ziegler and Mrs. Helen Moore, Philadelphia; Harvey Ziegler, Long View, Texas; Albert Ziegler, Rochester, N.Y.; Harry G. Dunstan, Emaus; John W. Dunstan, at home, and Mrs. Harry Esterly, Mertztown R. 1. Five sisters and brothers survive as follows: Mrs. Edwin Croll and Morris Schmoyer, Royersford; Mrs. Annie Mest, Allentown; Mrs. Laura Wenner, Philadelphia, and Harvey Schmoyer, Pottstown. Sixteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.

Dunstan, Lizzie L. (nee Romig)

Mrs. Lizzie L. Dunstan, wife of John A. Dunstan, of No. 529 North Fulton street, died yesterday at the Allentown Hospital. She was admitted on November 24 and underwent an operation immediately for relief from an internal disorder. She was twenty-nine years of age and was born in Red Lion, Berks county, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Romig. The parents survive with the husband, a son, Harold, aged two years, a brother, Charles Romig, a sister, Minnie, wife of Harvey Herb, both of Red Lion, and a sister, Mrs. Allen Hallman, of Allentown. Mrs. Dunstan was a member of St. Peter's Church, near Alburtis.

Dunstan, Philip Nicholas

A fractured hip, suffered in a fall several months ago, coupled with a stroke of apoplexy, ended in the death of Philip Nicholas Dunstan at 7 o'clock last night at his home at Hinterleiters Crossing, Kutztown R.D., at the age of 76 years. Mr. Dunstan was born in England but resided in this country the greater part of his life. For many years in his younger days, he was employed in the ore mines in the vicinity of Siesholtzville. He is survived by his widow, Rosa, nee Rader; four children, William, at home; Mrs. George Miller, of Emaus; Mrs. Maggie Gambler, of Lyons; and Frank, of Topton; nine grandchildren and a brother, John, of Mertztown R.D. Funeral services will be held in the Longswamp church Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. W. F. Bond and Rev. W. L. Meckstroth officiating. Interment will be made in the cemetery adjoining the church.

The remains of Philip Nicholas Dunston, of Hinterleiter's Crossing, were laid at rest at the Longswamp church on Monday, March 6. He was one of seventeen children of William and Jeanette Dunstan, and was born at Stirrillian, Cornwall, England, July 12, 1856. When 20 years of age he came to America in June of 1876, where he was mostly engaged in iron ore mining. On Sept. 26, 1885, he was joined in marriage with Rosa M. Rader by Rev. D. K. Humbert. The family lived at Maple Grove and more recently at Topton. He passed away Wednesday, March 1, aged 76 years, 7 months and 19 days. Surviving are his wife and four children: William, at home; Mrs. George Miller, Emaus; Mrs. Maggie Gambler, Lyons; and Frank, Topton; also nine grandchildren and one brother, John, of Mertztown R. 1. The two pastors of Longswamp, Rev. W. F. Bond, his pastor, and Rev. W. L. Meckstroth, her pastor, officiated. Director Irwin D. DeLong, Topton, was in charge.

Dunstan, Rosina

Mrs. Rosina Dunstan who for the greater part of her life lived in the vicinity of Topton died yesterday morning at the Allentown hospital following an illness from a complication of ailments. She was in her sixty-seventh year.

Born in Longswamp township she was a daughter of the late William and Sallie, nee Miller, Rader. She was a lifelong member of the Reformed congregation of the Longswamp church.

Her husband, Philip Dunstan, preceded her in death two years ago. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. George Miller, Emaus R.D., with whom she resided for the past few weeks; Mrs. Maggie Gambler, Lyons; Frank Dunstan, Wescosville, and William Dunstan, Mertztown R.D. One brother, Robert Rader of Kutztown R.D., also survives.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home of Undertaker Irwin D. DeLong, Topton, Saturday at 1:30 p.m. with regular services in the Longswamp church. Rev. Donald Englert and Rev. W. F. Bond will officiate. Interment will be made in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Dustan, Doris A. (nee Morton)

Mrs. Doris A. Dustan, 71, Kutztown R. 3, a dietician at Moncton General Hospital, New Brunswick, Canada, before retiring 15 years ago, died Monday in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading. A graduate of Mount Allison University, New Brunswick, Mrs. Dustan traveled throughout Canada working at different hospitals for more than 20 years. She was the widow of Dr. W. Gordon Dustan, former public relations director and English professor at Kutztown State College, who died in July. Born in Moncton, a daughter of the late Harvey and Alfretta (Alexander) Morton, she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Kutztown. Surviving is a stepdaughter, Patricia G. Dustan, of Rochester, N.Y. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Trinity Lutheran Church. There will be no calling hours. The Edward J. Hildenbrand Funeral Home, 346 W. Main St., Kutztown, is in charge of arrangements.

Dustan, W. Gordon

Dr. W. Gordon Dustan, 67, of Curtis Avenue, College Hill, Kutztown, former director of public relations and professor of English at Kutztown State College, was dead on arrival Wednesday at Community General Hospital, Reading. He was the husband of the former Doris A. Morton. he joined Kutztown's staff in 1959 as a professor of English and was named acting director of public relations in 1961. He later became director of public relations before resigning that job in 1966. He retired in 1973. Dr. Dustan received his bachelors degree from Mount Allison University, Canada; and his master of arts in English from Dalhousie University, Canada, and his doctorate in philosophy from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. Before coming to Kutztown, he was head of the department of English at Keuka College in New York and head of the English department at Valley Forge Military Academy. Born in Moncton, a providence of New Brunswick, Canada, he was a son of the late James and Ada (Penna) Dustan. Surviving besides his widow is a daughter, Patricia G. Dustan of Rochester, N.Y. Services will be announced by the Edward J. Hildebrand Funeral Home, 346 W. Main St., Kutztown.

Dwight, John

An Incendiary's Suicide. A Pennsylvanian Convicted of Arson Kills Himself With Fire.

Reading, Penn., Oct. 25 – Shortly before midnight last night John Dwight, a prisoner in the Berks County Jail, serving a five year's sentence for arson, set fire to himself with suicidal intent. After intense suffering he died this morning. Prison Watchman Baker discovered the fire. He summoned assistance, and the burning clothing was stripped from Dwight's body. Although perfectly conscious, Dwight never uttered a sound.

When asked how the fire had started he coolly replied: “I did it myself with a match,” but he would give no further details. Dwight was a native of Glasgow, Scotland.

Dyer, Estella (nee Metzger)

Mrs. Estella (Metzger) Dyer, widow of John Dyer, of 232 S. Home Ave., Topton, died yesterday afternoon in the Allentown hospital. She was 69 years old. Born in South Whitehall township, she was a daughter of the late Jacob D. and Sarah (Fahringer) Metzger. A resident for many years of Providence, R.I., she resided for the last four years with her sister, Mrs. Fred Trexler, at the Topton address. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Fred Trexler, with whom she resided, and one brother, Curtis Metzger, Middle River, Md.

Dykie, James T.

A funeral Mass was celebrated for James T. Dykie, 72, husband of Anne M. (McManus) Dykie of Hill Road in New Hanover, who died December 9 at his home. Born in Jersey City, N.J., Dykie was a 1948 graduate of the former East Greenville High School. He worked as a mason for Valley Forge National Historical Park for seven years, retiring in 1996. He previously worked as a brick layer for Local No. 54 of the Brick Layers Union in Norristown for 25 years. Dykie was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Pennsburg, where he served as an usher and volunteer. He also volunteered as a driver for Open Line in Pennsburg and at the Thrift Shop in Red Hill. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Black Destroyer during the Korean War. A member of the American Legion Post No. 184 of East Greenville, the Kline-Styer-McCann Veterans of Foreign Wars in Trappe and the Pike Township Sportsmen's Association in Pike Township. Surviving in addition to his wife of 38 years are a son, James R. Dykie of Collegeville; a daughter, Andrea L. Richards of Marlton, N.J. Also a brother and two grandchildren. Contributions may be made to the church's building fund. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pennsburg. The arrangements were handled by the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, East Greenville.
