1774 - Francis Somett is listed on the 1774 tax list for Douglas Township, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, along with others with the name of Moyers, Mosers. Hunsakers.
1776 - Jacob Summit and a Leonard Summit are listed on FTM CD 144 as "Loyalists in the American Revolution." This cd needs to be looked at for locale.
Note: A Jacob Sammet is located in Earl Township, Lancaster Pennsylvania in the late 1700s. Lancaster County, borders and is directly south of Berks County. Schuylkill County borders and is Northwest of Berks County. Formation of Berks County occured in 1752 from Chester, Lancaster and Philadelphia Counties, the year before Jacob Sammit arrived. Part of Berks Co. helped form Schuylkill Co. in 1811. Some early families from northwestern Berks County are now considered Schuylkill families.
August 1778 - Jacob Summett given land grant of 154 acres by Lord Fairfax in Northern Neck of Virginia in Hampshire County, now West Virginia.

August 1777 to August 1778 - Christian Summit(t) is found in Virginia court records for the area now covered by Washington county, PA south of Pittsburg in a suit running from August 1777 to August 1778. Christian Summitt, more specifically, was noted in minutes of Yohogania County Virginia Court. Later this area became Pennsylvania. Christian was the plaintiff in a slander suit against a John Gallaher & wife, first note August 27, 1777, and noted as dismissed at plaintiff's request August 26, 1778.
1782 - Hampshire County, Virginia Personal Property Tax Lists 1782-1789 indicates "Jacob Sommett." Indicates one white male above 16. Zero Slaves, Zero Horses, Three Cattle.
1782 - The State Census of Hampshire County, Virginia lists "Jacob Sommett". It states that the Census Taker is Levi Ashbrook. Two males are indicated and no slaves. It indicates that this individual is "gone" in the 1784 census, but that these individuals will probably show up in 1790 Pennsylvania census information for Alleghany, Bedford, Fayette, Washington and Westmoreland Counties. The State Census of Hampshire County 1782 is now housed in the Virginia Historical Society, Richmond Virginia.
