ALLEN, Annie Margaret Leech

Mrs. Annie Allen, widow of the late Henry Allen, died on Friday morning, March 28th [1919], of apoplexy a her home near Pt. Pleasant. Aged 63 years.  She is survived by two children, William Allen, of Newark, N. J., and Mrs. F. T. Brillman, of Pt. Pleasant, and one stepson, Harry Allen, of Packerton, Pa., and ten grandchildren.  The funeral was held Monday afternoon with interment at Forest Grove, Pa.

NECROLOGY / Henry Allen / Henry Allen, a well known resident of Point Pleasant, died Friday evening at 6:30 o'clock, in his 75th year.  He was a blacksmith by trade and worked at his trade until six years ago when he was taken ill with heart trouble.  Before his illness, he was a very active man.  He had resided at Point Pleasant thirty-one years.  Surviving him are a widow and two sons and one daughter, William Allen of Newark; Harry Allen, of Point Pleasant, and Mrs. Frank Brillman; also ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild, also one sister, Mrs. Susan Holdsworth, of Washington, D. C.

Charles Bright one of the oldest citizens of Hellertown, died Wednesday morning at his late home, 425 Main street Hellertown, Pa.,
of complication of ailments, He was taken ill last Sunday. The deceased was born at Milford township, Bucks county January 21, 1844. He was the son of the late John and Sarah Bright, and is survived two daughters. Mrs.  Amella Mauch and Mrs. Mary Wirebach of Hellertown; two brothers, Michael and Frank Bright, of Zion Hill Pa. two Sisters Mrs. Emma Bright also of  Zion Hill Pa. and Mrs. Lewis Butler, of Quakertown: five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. For the past forty years Mr. Bright was proprietor
of the general store at Hellertown. He   was a tailor by trade and followed that profession in with his store work.
The funeral will be held from the residence Saturday. Services at 2 o'clock and interment at the Hellertown Union cemetery.

Francis Bright, a veteran of the Civil War, died at his home at Allentown, Friday morning, of complications. Mr. Bright was formerly employed as an engineer with the Allentown foundry and machine co. He was born in  Reading, son of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Bright, and was 67 years , 7 months and 12 days of age.
His wife Catherine, nee Evans, survives, together with one son, William F., three brothers, John of Allentown,Michael of Reading, and Harrison of Easton and three sisters, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Kellar, and Mrs. Butz all of Reading.

Frank Bright a prominent farmer of Zion Hill where he was born and lived all his life in the old family homestead, died Easter Sunday night in the Quakertown Community hospital. He was eighty-six years of age.
He had been a patient at the hospital for the past three months. Death came as the result of a complication of ailments superinduced by his advanced years. Mr. Bright was the last of his family. He was never married and his only survivors are several nieces and nephews.
The son of the late John and Sarah Hildebeitle Bright. Mr. Bright was born in the homestead in Zion Hill and lived there all his life.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Treffinger's residence funeral  home,24 North Ambler Street, Quakertown, and interment will be made in the Zion Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday night from 7 too 9 o'clock.

Frank Bright
Frank Bright, 86 years old retired farmer, of Quakertown R.D. passed away late Sunday night in the  Quakertown Community Hospital. Death was due to heart failure, he had been a patient in the hospital for the past three months.
The deceased was a member of the Zion Hill Reformed Church and was the son of John and Hildewell Bright.

Veteran Railroader dies of Paralysis.

John Bright a veteran railroader, died Saturday at 6.35 P.M. in the Allentown hospital, aged 74 years. Mr. Bright had been admitted to the  hospital five weeks ago following a stroke of paralysis.
Mr. Bright was born in Reading, the son of Aaron Bright, but he lived in Allentown most of his life having come here about 50 years ago. For almost that entire period the deceased was employed by the Reading Railroad company as a passenger conductor on the Allentown-Harrisburg route. He retired four years ago last March on his seventieth birthday.
He was a prominent member of the Veteran Employees association of the Reading company and was affiliated also with the P.O.S. of A. and the Knights of Malta of this city.
Mr. Bright's wife, Sarah nee Smith, passed away three years prior to his demise. He is survived by three sons; Frederick A. Bright, of 238 Margaret street, Brookdale near Allentown, with whom he resided, Wallace J. Bright. of Philadelphia, and Raymond H. Bright, of this city. Three grandchildren also survive, as does a sister, Mrs. Edwin Grove, of Winchester, Virginia, and a half-brother, Edward Bright, who also lives in Virginia.

Funeral services for Joseph M. Bright formerly of Zion Hill, who died Monday, were held yesterday   at the Templeton Funeral home, Hellertown. Rev. Herbert Hartman of the Mennonite Brethren in Christ church, Coopersburg, officiated.
Burial was in Durham cemetery with the following pallbearers; Forrest, Robert, Willard, and Wilbur Bright, Robert and Merritt Lerch and Timothy Rothrock.

Leithsville Man Struck by Auto; Dies in Hospital

Father of Six Children Succumbs Several Hours After Accident.

Joseph E. Bright, 63, of Leithsville, died Sunday morning in St. Luke's hospital from a fractured skull received on Saturday night when he was struck by an automobile driven by Waze Wilson De Roach, 2407 Hayes St., Easton.
With Charles Dorney of Middletown, Bright was lking towards Freemansburg on the    Freemansburg-Easton road at 8 p.m., Saturday with their backs toward traffic. Bright was struck by the car which was going west at the time.
Dorney was in front of Bright and did not see the accident, according to patrolman T.P. Cahalan of the Bethlehem sub-station of the State Highway patrol, who investigated the     accident.
The right front fender and hinge of the door of the car struck Bright. He was removed to the hospital in the ambulance and died at 1:21 a.m.
Bright who has been visiting Dorney at his home in Middletown, was the husband of the late Lily Beck Bright and was born in Bethlehem, Aug. 31, 1873, a son of the late Joseph T. and Levina Emerich Bright.
For the past 36 years he had been in the employ of the Bethlehem steel co., and was a member of the P.O.S. of A.
His wife preceded him in death two years ago. Six children survive as follows: John, Warren and Linford, at home; Mrs. Floyd Transue and Mrs. Minnie Seifert of Bethlehem; Mrs. Walter Smith, of Coopersburg: a brother Andrew  Bright of Harrisburg: three sisters, Mary of Quakertown; Mrs. Jacob  Rodenbach of Easton; Mrs. Anna Trauger of Springtown, and 13 grandchildren.
Undertaker Marvin M. Steyers, of Bethlehem, removed the body to the late home where services will be held Wednesday at 3.30 p.m., followed by additional services at 2 p.m. in Ebenezer New Reformed church of Bingen. Burial will be made in the adjoining cemetery. The viewing will take place on Tuesday evening.

Milton Bright died at quarter to 6 o'clock Saturday morning at his home No. 139 South Sixth Street from an attack of pneumonia. He was taken ill last Monday night and his condition assumed a serious phase at once.
Mr Bright was a native of Zion Hill Bucks County, and was a son of John and Sarah Bright nee Hildebeitel. For 21 years he was in the general merchandise business at Quakertown. He came to Allentown 20 years ago and since that time was a hay salesman.
Mr. Bright is survived by Henry J. Bright a clerk at the Merlow Hat store, and three brothers and sisters.
Charles Bright of Hellertown; Frank, Michael and Emma Bright living at the homestead at Zion Hill, and Mrs. Catherine Beidler, living at Quakertown.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at his late home. Rev. Simon Sipple officiating. Interment will be made in Highland cemetery.

What I found in the 1900 and 1910 census is Milton Bright living in Allentown Pa., with a wife Sallie C. and a son Henry Bright.
Milton is a salesman of hay and Henry is working in a hat store.
The census mach up with this obit.

Crushed Under Four-ton Rock

Newton Bright, Bethlehem R. 4 Dies from Injuries.

Crushed by a falling 4-ton rock in the quarry of the Waubeek Granite Co. yesterday morning, Newton Bright of Bethlehem R. 4 died from his injuries at 1:15 p.m. in the Quakertown Community hospital. He was aged 65 years, 1 month and 10 days. Mr. Bright was removing ground from the large rock hanging in the bank of the quarry, situated two miles northeast of Coopersburg along the state road toward passer and adjoining the rife range of the Saucon  Rod and Gun club, when the rock slipped pinning the lower part of the man's body beneath it. He was removed to the hospital by Albert and Timothy Hassler, also employed at the quarry. Death was caused by internal injuries, a fractured pelvis and bladder. Dr. H. Clayton Moyer of Blooming Glen, coroner of Bucks county, issued a certificate of accidental death. Undertaker Willard L. Gruver, Coopersburg was given charge of the body. Mr. Bright's death was the first among the children of the late David and Lydia, nee Rinker, Bright.  His father died Sept. 23, 1936. Surviving are his wife,  Lillie Cora nee Beers, Bright; two children Florence, wife of Gurney Gumm, Baltimore, Mad., and Ralph Bright ,  Quakertown R. 3, and nine grandchildren. The following brothers and sisters also survive; Mary, wife of Jacob Weaver, Bingen; Joseph; Zion Hill; John, Leithsville; Rosa, wife of Joseph Rothrock, Coopersburg; Tillie, wife of Daniel Sacks, Hosensack; Minnie, wife of  Warren Gross, Centre Valley; Ira, Centre Valley, and Edith Bright, Centre >Valley Mr. Bright lived for the past 21 years along Bethlehem R. 4 near Bingen and prior to that time resided on his father's farm in that section. He attended the Mennonite Bethlehem in Christ church, Coopersburg, and also the Sunday school. Rev. F. B. Hertzog, pastor of the church will have charge of the services at 1:30.

Mrs. Amelia Mauch, 78, Mother of Lawyer, Dies.

Mrs. Amelia J. Bright  Mauch, 78 widow of John Mauch, Died at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the residence, Stony Acres, Hellertown R.1, after an illness of nine weeks.
She had made her home there with her son and daughter-in-law, Atty. and Mrs. Russell C. Mauch, for the past nine years.
Born June 5, 1869 in Hellertown, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Elizabeth Wagner Bright. A lifelong member of Christ Church, she had been a teacher in the infant department of the Sunday school for hale a century.
In addition to her son a daughter, Mrs. Stanley W. Eisenhart, Hellertown; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren survive.
Rev. Byron R. Stauffer, pastor of Christ church, will officiate at funeral services at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Templeton home, 326 Main St., Hellertown. Interment in Union cemetery, Hellertown. Calling hours 7:15 too 8: 15 p.m. Wednesday.

Quakertown Free Press Friday, 27 May 1904 Mrs. John STEINBERGER Sarah M. wife of John Steinberger died suddenly of apoplexy, at their home on 14th Street, on last Friday, aged 54 years, 1 month and 13 days. The Funeral took place on Tuesday. Services being conducted by Rev. Fretz and internment was made in the Union Cemetery. The deceased is survived by her aged husband and three sons, William, Henry and Frank of Philadelphia and one daughter residing in Bryn Mawr. The family hereby extend their thanks to their neighbors and friends for their sympathy and assistance in their bereavement.

JOHN S. STRUNK, the oldest man in Quakertown, who died on Monday, May 17, 1911, aged 94 years, 4 months and 7 days. He was one of the last survivors of the original members of the First Reformed church of Quakertown, and voted for William Henry Harrison for President in 1840. Mr. Strunk was the oldest of a family of twelve children, of whom there are four survivors. Of these one died in infancy, but the rest all attained the age of seventy and over, a remarkable record. With the exception of his eyesight, Mr. Strunk had full possession of all his faculties.

In his early years Mr. Strunk learned the trade of shoemaker, and later engaged in the manufacture of shoes until the year 1861, when he was compelled to close owing to the fact that all his employees were drafted. Previous to this, in the early 50's, he rented the Flourtown hotel, when the farmers on their way to Philadelphia with their produce (illegible) meat was required, he concluded that a butchering establishment connected with the hotel might prove a profitable venture. These ventures proving disastrous, he removed to Quakertown, and resumed the trade he had learned in his youth. His shop was located on the north side of Broad street in what was known as the old axe-handle factory, which was destroyed by fire in 1871. This was located along the creek in the rear of where David Cressman's house now stands. Later, closing his shop, he entered the employ of Tobias Hinkel and Aaron B. Walp and remained working there until his eyesight began to fail. He was treated by Dr. DeSchweinitz and Dr. Hanson performed an operation, which gave him partial sight, but gradually became dimmer until he became totally blind. In politics Mr. Strunk was ever a staunch Republican and cast his vote for each candidate of the party from William Henry Harrison to William H. Taft.

He was born and raised a Mennonite, but after his marriage joined his wife's church. He was a member of the building committee under whose supervision the joint Reformed and Lutheran church was erected in 1860. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon, when services were held at the late residence of the deceased, on West Broad street, followed by services in the First Reformed church, which were attended by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends. Rev. I. O. Schell paid a touching and eloquent tribute to the memory of the deceased. Interment followed in the Lutheran cemetery. The sons and daughters heartily thank all relatives, neighbors and friends for their kindness, able help and sympathy during the past year, the illness and death of their beloved aged father.

Emmet Trauger, husband of Salome (nee Bright) , Trauger, died yesterday at his home in Springtown at the age of 78 years. He was born in Tinicum Township May 28, 1865, son of the late William and Elizabeth Campbell Trauger.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the late residence, followed by services in the church of the Brethren, Passer, at 2:15 p.m., the Rev. U. E. Apple officiating. Interment will be in the cemetery adjoining.
