Breyfogle, the son of Merle Edward Breyfogle, son of William Alexander who was the son of William Milton Breyfogle and so on back to Johann Petar Breyvogel who traveled to this country from the Palatine area of Germany in 1744 and settled in Berks County, PA. The Breyfogle’s remained in Pennsylvania until the middle 1800’s and then started a westward movement. Comments: My Reitenauer family seemed to have emigrated the earliest, though the Bopps came to Berks by 1739. The Reitenauers, Stauffers and perhaps the Bobbs, all seemed to be from Switzerland originally, going to Alsace or the Palatinate region before coming to Berks County.
