Centre County Schools
- The First Schools is a writeup from an 1877 book dealing with the earliest schools to be found in the area now known as Centre County.
- Boogersburg School, the Centre County Historical Society's preserved schoolhouse (1877-1952) located in Patton Township.
- In the mid-1950s, the public schools in the county underwent a major consolidation of resources so that regions of the county could be served by area school systems. School districts currently serving Centre County:
- Bald Eagle Area School District - serving the townships of Boggs, Burnside, Howard, Huston, Snow Shoe, Union and Worth, and Boroughs of Howard, Milesburg, Port Matilda, Snow Shoe and Unionville.
- Bellefonte Area School District - serving the townships of Benner, Marion, Spring and Walker, and the Borough of Bellefonte.
- Keystone Central School District - serving the townships of Curtin and Liberty and the neighboring couny of Clinton as well as Potter County.
- Penns Valley Area School District - serving the townships of Gregg, Haines, Miles, Penn and Potter, and the Boroughs of Centre Hall and Millheim.
- Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District - serving the township of Rush, and Boroughs of Philipsburg and South Philipsburg and the neighboring of Clearfield.
- State College Area School District - serving the townships of College, Ferguson, Halfmoon, Harris and Patton, and the Borough of State College.
- Tyrone Area School District - serving the township of Taylor and the neighboring counties of Blair and Huntingdon.
- Penn State was known as the Farmers High School, the most famous high school in the county. It was founded in 1855, and eventually became known as The Pennsylvania State University.
