Welcome to the Centre County PAGenWeb Project
This site has been online since 1996 as part of the PAGenWeb Project and the USGenWeb Project! The goal is to provide the best genealogy resource guide to assist Centre County, Pennsylvania researchers.

About Centre County:
Centre County was formed on February 13, 1800, as the result of "an act erecting parts of Mifflin, Northumberland, Lycoming and Huntingdon into a separate county" and calling it Centre. The county was named for its geographic location, but the exact geographical center of the state is in dispute. The county seat is located in Bellefonte and the county is home to State College, Penn State University, Boalsburg, which claims to be the birthplace of Memorial Day, and the Grange Fair which is often billed as the biggest of Centre County's family reunions.
