The Law Library's Official Website
The resources of the Law Library are often overlooked. They do maintain maps, records, and microfilm sources, since Attorneys, Title Searchers, (and Staffs) must often look up old records as part of a current case or issue.
The Librarian may be a good source of information about where records are now stored, or where to find obscure records. May be frustrating because there has been continual re-organization of storage locations in recent years.
Rule of thumb: Find out WHICH OFFICE should oversee a record type. That office will maintain records associated with their area.
Genealogy researchers who visit in person must respect that the Librarian must take care of Attorney and Professional's needs first. But, unless the library is very busy, genealogists will find they can get help too.
Please remember this area is a Library; keep your voice low because Attorneys and other Professionals may be doing law research at the back of the room.
Small space, so limit how much personal stuff you bring into the Library area.
Copying fees apply, as they do throughout the Court House, generally 0.50 per page.
NOTE - The official Washington County PA website removed the PDF (Acrobat Reader) brochure
for the TYPES OF RECORDS
