Local Glances -
Next week will be devoted to moving. [Note: Was the
newspaper office moving?] The quintette[sic]
serenaders[sic] were out last night and rendered some very sweet music. The
Bentleyville camp meeting will commence this year on Friday, August 12,
and run over two Sundays. Dr. W. L. S. Wilson, of
Monongahela city[sic], has been appointed Notary Public. The
Jolly Literary club will give an [sic] unique entertainment Friday
evening, April 8th. Farmers have commenced plowing; but
as yet, little of that kind of work has been done. Mr.
John Weaver, of Amwell, informs us that two white mulberry trees are
growing on his farm --relics of the morus mullicaulis mania. Rev.
Marcus Ormond and family will remove from Burgettstown to Oxford, Ohio,
about the middle of April. "Repentance" will be
the topic for thought before the Young People's Prayer meeting, at the
M. E. church, Sabbath afternoon next. D. T. Sample has
put up a new board "awning" in front of his new store, nearly
opposite the Reporter office. The twenty-fifth
anniversary -- [see anniversaries1.html] The School Journal
notes Carrel [sic] township and California as two districts in this
county which have not made any report for last year, and so have not
been able to obtain their State money. [Webmaster comment: No much has

Article] Three fires
occurred in Wheeling [WV] on the night of the 25th instant, by
which losses were sustained by Henry Craft, Capt. Samuel Mason, James
Berry, James Ferguson, G. Mendel & Co., Joseph Kletchley and others. Mr.
Leonard Matthews has sold out his farming interests in Peters township,
and removed his family to Washington. Mr. Matthews intends going
to Beaver county to operate a patent well boring machine. Valley
