Q: Why do you only have *some* articles or items from *some* newspapers?
A: The transcribed items are NOT the complete list of entries on this date from this newspaper; These are only the ones that were Xeroxed on the same page. Transcripts are typed "as is, including lack of punctuation [ex: street, township, county] and without added punctuation. Until about 1930's or 1940's many words we capitalize today were left in lowercase. Until about the 1920's, Pittsburgh was always spelled without the 'h' at the end. sic=typed as spelled in original
Q: What do you mean by "excerpt," "summary,"
and "transcription"?
A:
* Excerpt - Is not a complete article. It only contains "names of interest." The full article may have contained many more names.
** Summary - Is NOT a transcript. A summary is a shortened version of the published text in a newspaper. Summaries are in the words of the transcriptionist, not necessarily the words used in the article.
*** Transcription - Is typed exactly "as is" in the original article.

A: The above articles were found through research by the late Cathy Caldwell, genealogist formerly of Greene Co., Pa. and research by Judith
Florian, native of Washington PA. Transcribed by Judith Florian of Girard, Ohio. [Florian and Caldwell are sisters.]
Judith Florian also owns many original newspaper issues of
various dates, months and years (e.g. The Reporter, The Observer, and The
Observer-Reporter.)
