MERRILL C. "PETE" BISHOP of Upper Frederick Township, formerly of Plumsteadville, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, in Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, Pottstown. He was 87.

He was the husband of ELIZABETH "BETTY" (YOUELLS) BISHOP.

The couple had celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on June 7, 2003.

Born in Dublin, Pa., he was the son of the late PEARSON M. and GERTRUDE (CROUTHAMEL) BISHOP.

Mr. Bishop was employed as a salesman at Theodore L. Gross Poultry in Doylestown, from 1960 until retiring in 1978. during the late 1940s and 1950s, he worked as a butter, egg and poultry commission merchant with a route in Philadelphia.

Prior to World War II, he was employed by the AMETEK Inc., U.S. Gauge Division in Sellersville.

Mr. Bishop was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theatre.

A 75-year member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Dublin, he served on and was past president of the church consistory and taught Sunday school for 63 years.

Mr. Bishop was a lifetime member of Plumsteadville Fire Co., volunteering with the Fire Police. He also was a member of American Legion Post 210, Doylestown.

Family and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 14, at St. Luke's United Church of Christ, 141 S. Main St., Dublin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's United Church of Christ at the above address.
