1823 – Haycock Township made national news.

So how did the news of a small township in Bucks County Pennsylvania get to newspapers in other states? One way was the practice of swapping editions. Editors would mail a copy of their paper and then selected articles would be reprinted. This concept was a precursor to the wire service.
