YOUNG - CUMMINS Marriage

A quiet wedding took place at the home of the Rev. J. D. GIBSON in East Elizabeth, Pa., at 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, March 1, when Andrew YOUNG and Miss Eleanor Matilda CUMMINS were united in marriage by the Rev. J. D. GIBSON, former pastor of the United Presbyterian Church of Midway. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. CUMMINS of Bulger. The groom, who is employed as a mine superintendent at Castle Shannon, is a son of Robert YOUNG, superintendent of the Horning mine. The young couple will take a trip to Washington, D. C., and other Eastern points, and will be at home after March 15 at Castle Shannon.

Married:  On Thursday at high noon at the home of the bride on Station street Mr. A. H. YOUNG of Pittsburg [sic], and Miss Margaret KELSO of McDonald, Rev. Dr. Irons officiating. The bride was elegantly attired in white silk with lace trimmings and carried a bunch of white roses. The room and table were of pink and white carnations and ribbons and the beautiful ring ceremony was used for the tying of the nuptial knot in the presence of twenty-five invited guests. After the ceremony all sat down to a sumptious [sic] wedding dinner. Mr. and Mrs. YOUNG after after [sic] receiving the congratulations of a large circle of friends left on the afternoon train for Pittsburgh where a reception and supper awaited them after which they boarded the evening train for a wedding trip to New York city. They will return to Pittsburgh for a short time after which they expect to make their home in Crafton [Pa].

On Wednesday morning, June 25th, at ten-thirty the marriage of Miss Anna Mae KELLY, daughter of Mrs. Mary A. KELLY of Noblestown, and Mr. John Armstrong YOUNG, son of Mrs. Martha YOUNG of Oakdale, was solemnized. The ceremony was performed at the home of the officiating minister, the Rev. W. D. LEWIS, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Oakdale. Miss Andrey M. KELLY, sister of the bride, and Mr. Ward YOUNG, brother of the groom, were their attendants. Following a dinner at the Pitt hotel, McDonald, Mr. and Mrs. YOUNG left for the Summit hotel, Uniontown.  On Saturday they will join the members of the Syria Temple Auto club at their outing at Conneaut Lake. After motoring to points of interest in Eastern Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. YOUNG will be at home in Oakdale.

YOUNG - BRITTON

Miss Margaret E. BRITTON, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. S. BRITTON of Brightwood, formerly of Imperial, and Mr. Robert H. YOUNG, son of William YOUNG of Imperial and the late Ann Stevenson YOUNG, were united in marriage at two o'clock Saturday afternoon, September 28, 1940, in the First Christian church, New Kensington. The pastor, the Rev. Thomas H. HUGHES, performed the ceremony, assisted by the Rev. H. F. MESSENGER of the Brightwood Christian church, before an embankment of red roses and ferns. 

The bride wore a princess gown of white satin with a yoke of lace. The bridesmaid, Miss Mildred BRITTON, sister of the bride, wore plum-colored satin. Mr. William YOUNG, Jr., brother of the bridegroom, served as bestman.  Miss Georgia Ruth BRITTON, another sister of the bride, played the wedding music. Mrs. F. J. CLIFTON was accompanist.

After a trip to the East, Mr. and Mrs. YOUNG will reside in Bellevue. Mr. YOUNG is a graduate of Penn State and a member of Theta Chi fraternity.
