Miss Esther MADGWICK Weds Maryland Man
[ WRIGHT - MADGWICK ]
Miss Esther Jean MADGWICK, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. MADGWICK of Fannie street, McDonald, and Jack Leroy WRIGHT, son of Mr. and Mrs. LYLE WRIGHT of Cambridge, Md., were united in marriage at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 1947, in the home of the bride's aunt, Miss Louise DELOCHE, Munn avenue, Crafton. The Rev. Joseph H. RODGERS, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, McDonald, performed the single ring ceremony before an embankment of ferns and white gladioli.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white satin princess gown. Her fingertip veil fell from a coronet of seed pearls and she carried a bouquet of white roses. The maid of honor, Miss Ruth Ann MADGWICK, sister of the bride, wore a blue
taffeta gown with matching headdress. The Junior bridesmaid, Joan CARLISLE of Newark, Ohio, niece of the bride, wore a yellow taffeta gown with matching headdress. They each carried a colonial bouquet of talisman roses. The bridegroom's father served as bestman. The mothers of both the bride and he
[sic=the] bridegroom wore poudre blue gowns and each wore a shoulder corsage of red rosebuds.
Following the ceremony a reception for fifty guests was held in the DELOCHE home. Upon their return from a week's wedding trip to Florida, the young couple will make their home in Washington, D.C. The bride, a graduate of the McDonald high school, was employed in Washington, D.C., prior to her marriage. Her husband is employed as an accountant in Washington, D.C.

PAXTON - WRIGHT

The marriage of Miss Martha PAXTON, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George G. PAXTON, of Chartiers township, and Jerome E. WRIGHT of Cambridge, New York, was solemnized Thursday evening, June 25th at 7:30 o'clock at the home of the bride's parents. The service was read by Rev. William Franklin HARKEY, pastor of the Houston United Presbyterian church. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore white duchess satin, her tulle veil being held by orange blossoms. She carried a shower of Coolidge roses and lilies of the valley. The bridesmaid, Miss Mary NORTH, of the North side, Pittsburgh, wore pink satin and carried pink roses. Little Betty PAXTON, niece of the bride, was flower girl and wore yellow crepe and carried a colonial nosegay. The best man was George PAXTON, Jr., brother of the bride, and the wedding march was played by Miss Ethel McPEAKE of Carnegie. Before the ceremony John HICKMAN of Houston sang "At Dawning." A reception to the newly married couple followed after which Mr. and Mrs. Wright left on a wedding tour of Canadian cities. After July 8 they will be at home in Cambridge, New York.

At 8 o'clock in the home of the officiating minister, the Rev. Father J. A.
BURGOON, on Tuesday evening, February
15th [, 1927], occurred the marriage of Miss Mary Louise KARNS, daughter of Mrs. Mary KARNS of Fourth street, McDonald and Mr. Francis Leo Brown WRIGHT, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William WRIGHT, also of McDonald. The
bride was attired in a gown of Champagne georgette with hat to match and carried an arm bouquet of white roses. Miss Kathleen BRADY, as bridesmaid, wore black
velvet and carried pink roses. Mr. Winfield KARNS, brother of the bride, was Mr. WRIGHT's best man. Immediately following the
ceremony the bridal party returned to the KARNS home where a buffet supper was served, with only immediate families being present. Mr. and Mrs. WRIGHT left later by auto for Niagara, Montreal and other
northern points. Mr. and Mrs. WRIGHT will later be at home to their friends at the KARNS home in Fourth street.

WRIGHT - BRITT
At St. Alphonsus' church on Tuesday morning, September 15, at 8 o'clock, the marriage of Miss Gertrude BRITT, daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth BRITT, and William Sylvester WRIGHT took place. The ceremony was performed with solemn nuptial high mass by the Rev. J. A. BURGOON, assisted by the Rev. P. J. McDERMOTT of Duquesne University and the Rev. J. J. BRENNAN of Carnegie. The bride was given away by her brother, M. A. BRITT. Miss Kathryn BRITT, a sister of the bride, and Leo WRIGHT, bother of the groom, attended the young couple. The bride wore a coat costume of purple broadcloth with hat to match and carried a bouquet of white roses and
lilies of the valley. The bridesmaid wore a green traveling costume and carried pink roses. After the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served and the bride and groom left for a journey to Eastern points. After October 1 they will be at home at No. 15 Grandview avenue, Crafton.
