WELTE - VANCE

The marriage of Miss Betty Carroll VANCE, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarke VANCE of Crafton, and Mr. Lawrence A. WELTE, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence P. WELTE of Pittsburgh, took place at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 1938, in St. Philip's church, Grafton. The church was decorated with ferns and flowers. Organ music drifted from balcony out over the church during the services and the soft voices of the boy's choir could be heard during mass following the wedding and ring ceremony. The bride wore white satin with a long train. The veil came to the waist line in front and beyond the dress train in the back. The coronet on the veil was fashioned of pearls to represent orange blossoms. She carried a white leather prayer book with a spray of lily of the valley. She was presented to the bridegroom by her father. The maid of honor, Miss Juanita VANCE, wore a gown of pink organdy trimmed in narrow black lace with puffed sleeves and peter-pan collar over pink taffeta. She wore a pink milan hat with a pink veil to the waist line and carried a bouquet of pink rosebuds and ferns. The bridesmaid, Miss Virginia HANNAN, wore pink net over pink satin and a pink satin bonnet. She carried a bouquet of pink rose buds and ferns. The other bridesmaid, Miss Dorothy WELTE, wore blue organdy over blue and wore a blue organdy hat. She carried talisman rose buds and ferns. The bridegroom, the bestman Joseph SHOULTZ, and head usher, Jack GRAEMENTINE wore white suits, and the other ushers, Thayer VANCE, Frank WHITE, and ELMER WELTE wore white flannels and dark coats as did the bride's father. The bride's mother wore a dress of  yellow lace, with yellow accessories and a  corsage of yellow rose buds. The bridegroom's mother wore a dress of dark blue with white accessories. About 200 attended the wedding. Thirty attended the reception at the Mayfair hotel, Pittsburgh, immediately after the ceremony. The couple will be at home at Noble avenue in ten days after a honeymoon to Vance Inn at Fort Louden.

Miss Elizabeth BERNHART, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John BERNHART of Oakdale, and Carl H. WERNER of Oakdale, were united in marriage in the bride's home at 11 o'clock Monday morning, October 8, 1934, by the Rev. Carl WHITE of Oakdale. The bride was gowned in white silk taffeta and carried pink tea roses. Miss Hazel McATEER of Oakdale was bridesmaid, and was gowned in blue silk crepe and wore a shoulder corsage of pink tea roses. John NICOLETTO of Oakdale was best man. A wedding dinner was served at the Fort Pitt inn on the Steubenville pike Monday evening, with places for twenty at the bride's table. Afterwards the young couple left on a wedding trip to Detroit, Mich., and the World's fair. After October 16 they will be at home in Oakdale.

A pretty church ceremony Thursday evening, January 24, 1924, in the Highland Presbyterian church, Eastend, Pittsburgh, united in marriage Miss Emma Conkle BRYTE, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oren G. BRYTE of Burgettstown, and John WERNER, JR., son of Mr. and Mrs. John WERNER of the Eastend, Pittsburgh. The Rev. William HAYS, assisted by the Rev. George C. FISHER, officiated. The bride, who was given in marriage by her brother, Oren BRYTE, wore a gown of white velvet. Her tulle veil was held in place with a bandeau of orange blossoms. She carried an arm bouquet of orchids and lilies of the valley. Miss Dorothy V. MAXWELL, as Miss BRYTE'S maid of honor, wore a gown of orchid georgette and carried pink rose buds. Miss MAXWELL wore a bandeau of silver in her hair. The two bridesmaids, Miss Pauline Fay FORMAN of Morgantown, W.Va., and Miss Letitia SCOTT of Burgettstown, wore gowns of taffeta, the former in French blue and the latter in peach colored and blue and the latter in peach colored and they carried shell pink and sweetheart roses. Walter E. WERNER, brother of the bridegroom, was best man and the ushers were John O. GRAHAM, John E. JOHNSON, Clifford KEENE and Dale E. CIMIOTTO. A dinner and reception in the Rittenhouse supplemented the ceremony. After an Eastern trip Mr. and Mrs. WERNER will reside in South Euclid avenue, Eastend, Pittsburgh. The bride is well known in McDonald.
