[ TURNEY - HUNTER ]
Last Friday evening during a party at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. J. A. HUNTER, North avenue, in honor of the birthday of
their daughter Elizabeth, the young woman called all those in attendance
about her and producing a marriage certificate, made formal announcement
of the nuptials of her sister, Ida H., and Clifford T. TURNEY.
Both were at the party and were congratulated by those present. It
was subsequently stated that the young people had perfected their plans
and met early Friday morning. They went to Steubenville, were
quietly married by a Presbyterian clergyman and got back to McDonald at
1 o'clock in the afternoon. The bride is 18 and the groom a year
older. Their marriage has been objected to on account of their
youth.

[ TURNEY - HUNTER ]
Frederick C. FAIRBANKS, son of Vice President FAIRBANKS,
and six grooms from Western Pennsylvania, among them Clifford T. TURNEY
of McDonald [Pa], were on Tuesday indicted by the grand jury of
Steubenville [Ohio], for perjury committed while procuring a marriage
license. Prosecutor ALBAN says the indictments are no bluffs, but
as soon as any of those indicted appear in Ohio the sheriff will be sent
after them and the indictments will be pushed. The grand jury had
the marriage license record and the probate judge who issued the license
before it for two days.
