On Tuesday morning, August 22, 1922, at nine o'clock at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert WALLACE, in Beaver Falls, Mrs. Sara WALLACE SELF became the bride of the Rev. Alvin SMITH, a returned missionary from Cyprus, an island in the Mediterranean. Mrs. SMITH is a granddaughter of Mr. Thomas P. GEORGE of Third street.

Mrs. John A. DOUGLAS of McDonald entertained her bridge club at dinner last Friday evening at 6:30 o'clock in the George Washington hotel, Washington, Pa. During the dinner Mrs. DOUGLASS announced her marriage to Arthur Miller SMITH of McDonald. Mrs. DOUGLASS, who was the wife of the late Dr. John A. DOUGLASS of McDonald, was formerly Miss Mary ROBB, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. W. ROBB of East Washington. Previous to her marriage to Dr. DOUGLASS she served three years as deputy clerk of courts and also was society editor of The Washington Reporter for two years. Mrs. DOUGLASS for some time has resided in a new home recently erected on her farm north of McDonald. Mr. SMITH resides on his farm north of McDonald and is a well-known painting contractor.

SMITH - ALLOWAY

Miss Norma ALLOWAY, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth ALLOWAY of Frankfort Springs, and Charles SMITH, son of Mrs. A. J. McGINNIS of McDonald, were united in marriage at 7:45 p.m. Friday, May 9, 1947, in the home of the bride's parents. The Rev. Leslie VANINWEGEN performed the single ring ceremony. The bride wore a blue suit with white accessories and a corsage of red rosebuds. The maid of honor, Miss Nancy ALLOWAY, sister of the bride, wore a gray pin striped suit with white accessories. Walter HILL of Ohio served as bestman. The bride is a 1945 graduate of the Findlay Vocational high school. Mr. SMITH attended McDonald high school and is employed by the Harmon Creek Coal Co. The young couple have gone to housekeeping in their new home on the Hickory - Primrose road.
