SIKORA - WALCZYK


At an eight o'clock nuptial mass service Saturday morning in St. Lawrence O'Toole's Catholic church and in the presence of a few close friends and relatives, Miss Jean WALCZYK, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis WALCZYK of Westland, became the bride of Vincent SIKORA, Sr., of Washington. The double ring bridal ritual was read by the Rev. John McDEVITT. Mrs. C.F. EBERHART played the traditional wedding marches and accompanied Miss Mary McCROHAN, who sang "Ave Maria" and "On This Day, Oh Beautiful Mother."

The bride chose for her wedding a gray worsted outfit, a gray feather hat, and black accessories. She wore an orchid corsage and carried white rosary beads. Miss Stella SIKORA, twin sister of the bridegroom, was maid of honor. She was attired in a gray gabardine suit with black accessories. Her corsage was of red roses. A cousin of the bride, Miss Marie KRAKOWSKI of Chicago, was the bridesmaid. She wore a cocoa brown suit with matching brown and green accessories and a yellow rose corsage. Frank SIKORA served as his brother's bestman.

Following the wedding service the couple was honored at a bridal breakfast held in the Connor hotel. Out-of-town guests at the ceremony and breakfast were the bride's mother, Mrs. WALCZYK, Mrs. Elizabeth KUTCHMAN of Westland, a sister of the bridegroom, Mr. and Mrs. Roy PECK, Robert PECK, Father McDEVITT, Father John CORRIGAN, and the bridal party.

Mrs. SIKORA was graduated from the Hickory high school. Mr. SIKORA, a graduate of the Jerome high school, is a sophomore at the University of Wyoming where he is majoring in journalism. He is also serving as a sports editor for the Republican-Boomerang.

After a brief wedding trip to Ft. Collins, Mr. and Mrs. SIKORA returned to Laramie to make their home.

The marriage of Miss Elizabeth McBride DONALDSON, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. B. DONALDSON of McDonald, and Mr. John Carlton SIMMONS of Wilkinsburg, took place at the home of the bride's parents in Fanny Street at high noon on Friday, July 12, 1918. The Rev. Thomas Ewing THOMPSON, pastor of the Haffey Presbyterian church, performed the ceremony in the presence of a number of near relatives and close friends. The bride was attired in a gown of white crepe de chene and carried a bouquet of bride's roses and sweetheart roses. Covers were laid for six at the bride's table. The centerpiece was a basket of roses and ferns. The other guests were served at small tables. Mr. and Mrs. SIMMONS left for a visit at the SIMMONS' home in Warren. On their return, Mr. and Mrs. SIMMONS will make their home in Wilkinsburg. Miss DONALDSON is well known to McDonald people, having taught in the Public School for several terms, and her many friends wish her much happiness in her new home.

The Rev. Dr. S. H. GOLDENSON officiated on Sunday, February twelfth at 6:30 o'clock at the marriage of Miss Jean BROIDA, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. R. BROIDA, of McDonald, and Maurice SIMON, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. SIMON, of Pittsburgh, which was solemnized at the William Penn hotel, Pittsburgh. The ceremony was performed before an emankment [sic] of ferns, cibodiums, and palms. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of crystal beaded crepe. Her tulle veil was arranged in cap effect and she carried a shower of bride's roses and valley lilies. 

Miss Frances BROIDA, sister of the bride, as honor maid, wore coral crepe romaine and carried ophella roses. The bridesmaids, Miss Marion SIMON, of Pittsburgh, in blue; Miss Madeline BROIDA, of McDonald, in flame; Miss Belle TOLOCHKO, of Pittsburgh, in blue, and Miss Leona YORK, of Carnegie, in apricot sequin, carried colonial bouquets. Mr. Harry MARKLE, of Pittsburgh served as best man, and the ushers were Mr. Jack FRIED, of Youngstown, Ohio; Mr. Henry NEWMAN, Mr. Benjamin WEINBERG and Mr. David BREMEN, of Pittsburgh. Receiving with the bride and groom, after the ceremony, were the parents of each. Immediately after the ceremony Miss Frances BROIDA sang "Oh Promise Me."

At the dinner, covers for thirty-five were laid at the bride's table, which was in the form of a horse shoe, the center piece for which consisted of a beautiful display of jonquils and ferns. 

The happy couple left for New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D. C.

Preceding the ceremony, Miss Frances BROIDA sang "O Promise Me." The wedding party entered the room to the strains of Lohengrin's bridal chorus, played by Noskoff's orchestra. The ceremony was performed before an embankment of palms, ferns and cibodiums. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of crystal beaded crepe. Her tulle veil was arranged in cap effect and she carried a shower bouquet of bride's roses and lilies of the valley. The bridesmaids:  Miss Madeline BROIDA of McDonald, was dressed in flame, Miss Leona YORK of Carnegie, in apricot sequin, Miss Belle TOLOCHKO of Pittsburgh, in blue, and Miss Marion SIMON of Pittsburgh, in blue, carried colonial bouquets.  Mr. Harry MARKLE of Pittsburgh served as best man, and the ushers were Mr. Jack FRIED of Youngstown, Ohio, Mr. Henry NEWMAN, Mr. Ben WEINBERG, Mr. David BREMAN, of Pittsburgh.  Mrs. M. R. BROIDA, mother of the bride, appeared in a coral canton crepe gown, beaded in steel beads. A dinner supplemented the ceremony. Covers for thirty-five were laid at the bride's table which was in the form of a horseshoe. The centerpiece was jonquils and ferns. A reception followed the dinner. Receiving with the bride and groom were the parents of both. Mr. and Mrs. Maurice SIMON left the same evening for New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington, D. C. Upon their arrival home they will live in Fourth street McDonald. Mr. and Mrs. SIMON are well known here, the bride having lived here all her life. Mr. SIMON is proprietor of the Famous Shoe Shoppe. Among those from a distance who witnessed the wedding were:  Mr. and Mrs. J. S. BROIDA and son Paul of Parkersburg, W. Va., Mrs. I. BROIDA of Oil City, Mr. and Mrs. Charles GLICK and Milton GROSSMAN of Cleveland, Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. J. BROIDA of Alexandria, La., Mr. J. FRIED of Youngstown, Ohio, Miss Sara BENDER of Youngstown, Ohio.

Miss Grace HART, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank HART of Gladden, and William SIMON of Carnegie were united in marriage at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 1943, in Dormont.

The bride wore a baby blue suit with copper-colored accessories and an orchid corsage set off with babies-breath. The bridesmaid, Mrs. Thomas HART of Gladden, wore a flowered jersey dress with white accessories. Gordon HART of Cecil served as bestman.

Following the ceremony, a family dinner was served in the HART home, after which the young couple left to spend a week in New York City.

Mrs. SIMON, a graduate of the South Fayette township high school and the Grace Martin business school, Pittsburgh, is employed as a stenographer and bookkeeper. Her husband, a graduate of Carnegie high school is an inspector of ordnance material at Woodville.

Announcement is made of the marriage of John A. SIMONELLI, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. John SIMONELLI of Westland, who about a year ago enlisted in the U. S. army.

The young man was united in marriage with Miss Ida Mae CARR, daughter of Mrs. David CARR of Anacoco, Ind., on Friday, January 17, at 4 p.m., at the parsonage of the Baptist church in Leesville, Ind., with the Rev. E. E. FIELDS, pastor of that church, reading the nuptial vows in the presence of a few close friends.

Mr. SIMONELLI has been stationed the past five months at Leesville, Ind., as a member of the 70th Coast artillery.

IRONS, D.D., Tuesday afternoon, August 18th, at 3 o'clock. They left immediately after the ceremony for an eastern automobile trip. Mr. and Mrs. SIMONIN will reside in Canonsburg, where Mr. SIMONIN is employed.
