WOODS - SHUPE

On Thursday evening, December 6, 1928 at 8 o'clock in the home of the officiating minister, the Rev. Harry WOODS of Sharpsville, Pa., occurred the marriage of A. Dwight SHUPE and Miss Frances E. WOODS. The ceremony was witnessed by the family of the Rev. Harry WOODS, there being no attendants. Mr.
SHUPE, is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas SHUPE of McDonald, and is a graduate of McDonald High school and of the University of Pittsburgh, School of Pharmacy. He is now operating the drug store formerly owned by Guy STEELE of this place. Mrs. SHUPE is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William WOODS, south of McDonald, and is a graduate of the Cecil township high school and attended Geneva college. She also taught in the Burgettstown schools. Mr. and Mrs. SHUPE spent a short
honeymoon in Cleveland, Ohio. They will be at home to their friends in the apartment over Mr. SHUPE's drug store after December 20th.

SHUPE - LAVIE
Miss Marie Madaline LAVIE, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George W. LAVIE of 128 Fifth street, McDonald, and Mr. Thomas Rogers SHUPE, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas W. SHUPE of 305 Third street, McDonald, were united in marriage at 11:30 Saturday morning, August 6, 1938, in the home of the bride's parents. The Rev. Oscar E. GARDNER, D.D., pastor of the First Presbyterian church, performed the ceremony in the livingroom before a mantelpiece decorated with ferns, gladioli, and candytuft.
In the absence of the bride's father, who was accidentally injured the preceding day, she was given in marriage by her uncle, Mr. Thomas Donaldson GLADDEN of McDonald. Preceding the ceremony, Miss Hazel SPEER, piano, and Mrs. Joseph BEDNAR, violin, played "I Love You Truly," "At Dawning," "The Rosary," and "O Promise Me."
The bride was attirede in a white lace gown and wore a corsage of gardenias. She wore the brooch that had been presented to her maternal grandmother on her golden wedding anniversary.
The bridesmaid, Miss Duella Sherry STRANAHAN of Squirrell hill, Pittsburgh, wore a rose lace gown and a corsage of pink roses. Mr. Albert Dwight SHUPE, brother of the bridegroom, was the
bestman.
Following the ceremony, a luncheon was served to eighteen guests, twelve seated at the bride's table. The young couple left on a Southern motor trip. Upon their return September 1, they will reside at 111 East Lincoln avenue, McDonald.
Mrs. SHUPE is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. SHUPE, a graduate of Grove City college, is director of athletics and a teacher in the commercial department of the McDonald high school.
Present besides the immediate families were Miss Florence and Miss Helene STEVENSON, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas D. GLADDEN, Mr. James C. DUNN, and Mrs. Oscar E. GARDNER.
Among the social affairs before the wedding were: A dessert bridge, Miss Elizabeth RIDALL, hostess; a luncheon, Miss Duella STRANAHAN, hostess; a miscellaneous shower sponsored by the First Presbyterian Jordan Missionary society and the
HEANY Memorial Bible class in the home of Mrs. Norman B. KUHN, and a dessert bridge, Miss Alice ORWIG, hostess.

SICKLES - BROWNING
Announced is the marriage of Miss Mae BROWNING, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Guy BROWNING, Sr., of R.D. 2, Canonsburg, and Ralph C. SICKLES, son of Mr. and Mrs.
T. W. SICKLES, R.D. 1, Canonsburg.
The couple exchanged vows at an impressive ceremony at Chartiers Hill Presbyterian church at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 1946, with the Rev. W.R. McKIM, pastor, officiating. Immediate families and a few friends were present.
The bride chose a steel blue wool crepe suit with cherry coke and navy blue accessories. Her corsage of white gardenias was centered with American Beauty roses and was tied with blue streamers in love knots. Wedding traditions were carried out in her costume by wearing an heirloom bracelet belonging to her mother and a small chain belonging to a friend.
Miss Ruth SICKLES, sister of the bridegroom, the bride's only attendant, wore a fuchsia colored suit with brown accessories with corsage of Johanna Hill roses with fuchsia streamers. William A. BROWNING, brother of the bride,
served as bestman.
Supplementing the ceremony, a wedding dinner was served to approximately 35 guests at the Chef's restaurant at Donaldson Crossroads. Covers were laid for eight at the bride's table which was centered with the three-tiered wedding cake and bouquets of mixed flowers. Out-of-town guests were from McDonald, Carnegie, Muse, Burgettstown, and Lineville.
The guests then went to the home of the bride where the couple was showered with gifts.
Mr. and Mrs. SICKLES were former classmates at the Hickory Vocational high school, class of 1938. The bride is employed in Canonsburg.
The bridegroom was discharged from the army September 9, 1945, after five years service with the Medical corps, three of which were spent in the European theater of War. He is now employed by
W. C. TANNER, contractor, McDonald. They are residing for the present with the bridegroom's parents.

SIGLEY - VENALECK
Miss Mildred VENALECK, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. VENALECK of Western avenue, Oakdale, and Ray SIGLEY, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson SIGLEY of Tunnelton, W.Va., were united in marriage at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning, November 14, 1934, in St. Patrick's church, the Rev. Fr. Charles KEANE officiating. Mrs. Andrew STYPERK of Oakdale was matron of honor, and Miss Cecelia BORDY of Candor and Miss Wilma GRANT of Midway were the bridesmaids.
J. J. MALONE of McKees Rocks was best man. Other attendants were Bernard VENALECK of Elco and Steven PRIBILIA of Oakdale. Master Thomas STYPERK was the ring bearer and Mildred MALONE was the flower girl. The bride was gowned in white satin with white tulle veil and carried white chrysanthemums. The matron of honor and bridesmaids were attired in fall ensembles and carried bouquets of yellow pom-poms. The wedding music was played by Miss Florence HAHN of Noblestown. A wedding dinner was served in the bride's home to seventeen guests, with ten seated a the bride's table. Mr. and Mrs. SIGLEY will reside at 28 West Catherine St., Washington. The bride is a graduate of Oakdale high school. The bridegroom is a graduate of Tunnelton high school and is employed by the West Penn Power Co.
