Mr. James C. SHANKS, of East Pittsburgh and Miss Anna E. PATTERSON of Canonsburg were united in marriage by Dr. W. D. IRONS at the home of the bride's uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. G. S. CAMPBELL on Saturday morning, October 27th at 7:30 o'clock in the presence of the immediate relatives. James W. CAMPBELL was best man and Miss Leown PATTERSON, a sister of the bride was bridesmaid. After the ceremony a breakfast was served and Mr. and Mrs. SHANKS started on a wedding trip to Cleveland, Buffalo and Niagara Falls.

On Saturday, June 29, 1928 at three o'clock, Miss Aline BOVARD, daughter of W. A. BOVARD, of First street, Oakdale, and Albert M. SHANNON of Pittsburgh were united in marriage at the home of the bride. The bride was beautifully attired in daphne blue georgette and carried brides' roses and valley lilies. She was given in marriage by her father. Miss Mary BOVARD, sister of the bride was maid of honor, and wore a gown of canary yellow and carried sweetheart roses and blue delphinium. Joseph P. SHANNON of Pittsburgh, brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man. Rev. J. Melvin KEYS, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Oakdale, was the officiating minister. Following the ceremony, a wedding lunch was served by Misses Sara Louise LEISTER, Maxine LEISTER, and Anna Mae ROBB. The bridal bouquet was caught by Miss Blanche FLUKE. Those present included George MUSICK of Pittsburgh, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. SHANNON of Pittsburgh, Mrs. Emma BOVARD of Pittsburgh, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. LEISTER, Mrs. Frank E. LASHER, Mrs. C. C. RINE, Mrs. Elsie SHRODES, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. STEVENSON, Mrs. Charles HERON, Rev. and Mrs. J. Melvin KEYS, Miss Dorothy Grace DARR, and Miss Blanche FLUKE, all of Oakdale. After spending two weeks at the bride's summer home on French Creek near Franklin, they will be at home at 300 First street, Oakdale.

Miss Mary Kathryn MCCLAIN, daughter of Mrs. John P. MCCLAIN of Canonsburg, and Mr. Paul Gilbert SHANNON, son of Mr. and Mrs. David A. SHANNON of Hickory, were united in marriage at 10:45 a.m. Monday, March 18, 1940, in Winchester, Va., by the Rev. Donald S. WILSON, pastor of the Winchester Presbyterian church. They were accompanied by Mr. Orrin MILLER of Avella and Mr. Frank McKITTRICK of Akron, Ohio.

Following a short wedding trip to Washington, D.C., the couple are at home in Hickory.  Mrs. SHANNON attended Canonsburg high school and her husband graduated from the Hickory Vocational high school.

SHAW - DAWSON

Mr. and Mrs. Donald DAWSON, Sr., of R. D. 2, Coraopolis, announce the marriage of their daughter Miss Martha Maye to Herbert D. SHAW, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert V. SHAW of Carnegie.

The wedding took place at 2:30 o'clock Saturday, June 14, 1941, in the Valley Presbyterian church, Imperial, with the Rev. Clarence E. DAVISON officiating. The altar was beautifully decorated with palms and ferns.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white marquisette with bands of lace inset to form a square yoke at the neck. The short puffed sleeves were tied with velvet bows. The bow on her shoulder was connected by a velvet ribbon to one at the low waist line of the fitted bodice. Her veil was of tulle and fell from a rose coronet. She carried calla lilies with showers of ribbon.

Mrs. Anton PARISSON of Dormont, the matron of honor, wore a pink taffeta gown with a waist length jacket of matching material. Her bouquet was of blue delphinium, pink roses, and babybreath, and was tied with pink satin ribbon. The bridesmaid, Miss Jane NOBLE of R. D. 1, Oakdale, wore a blue net gown with blue and silver lame fitted bodice. She carried a bouquet of blue delphinium, yellow roses, and babybreath, tied with wide blue ribbon. Mr. Donald DAWSON, Jr., brother of the bride, served as bestman, and Mr. Frederick CLARK of Carnegie and Mr. Clare DAWSON were ushers.

Miss Ellen HAMEL of Overbrook played the Lohengrin bridal chorus as the bride entered the church and Mendelssohn's wedding march as the recessional. She wore a gown of blue-green net with a braided ribbon sash and a corsage of deep red roses.

The bride's mother wore a dress of pink crepe and a corsage of tea roses. The bridegroom's mother wore a dress of sheer navy silk with a corsage of red roses.

The ceremony was followed by a reception in the bride's home with 48 guests present. Refreshments were served and the bride and bridegroom cut the three-teir wedding cake. As a going-away outfit, the bride wore a pink sharkskin suit and white turban.

After a Southern trip, Mr. and Mrs. SHAW will reside in Kirwan heights, Bridgeville.
