Miss Mary J. MALARKY of McDonald [Pa] and Frank A. SHAFFER of Crafton
were married on Tuesday morning, February 16, at eight o'clock in St.
Alphonsus' Church with nuptial mass by the Rev. J. A. BURGOON. The
attendants were Aloysius KESSLER of Stugeon [Pa] and Miss Gertrude STAAB
of South Side, Pittsburgh [Pa]

SHAFFER - ANDERSON
Miss Edith Lucille ANDERSON, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph ANDERSON of Union City, and George Lewis SHAFFER, son of George W. SHAFFER of Midway, were united in marriage at 5:30 p.m. Monday, September 19, 1938, in the home of the bride's parents at Union City. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Mr. HEWIT, pastor of the Methodist church of Union City, before a background of flowers in the livingroom of the home, which was lighted by candles. The bride wore apricot moire silk, with accessories of pastel blue. Her flowers were gladioli and baby's breath. She was attended by her sister, Miss Ruth ANDERSON, who wore pink chiffon, with pale blue accessories. The bridegroom was attended by the Rev. Alfred W. HUBBARD, pastor of the Center United Presbyterian church of Midway, who offered the nuptial prayer. Following the ceremony, dinner was served at the Tarbell inn, at which covers were laid for the bride and groom, Miss Ruth ANDERSON, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph ANDERSON, the Rev. Mr. and Mrs. HEWIT, Miss Margaret E. SHAFFER, George W. SHAFFER, Miss Carrie E. SHAFFER, the Rev. Alfred W. and Mrs. HUBBARD, Miss Beatrice A. SCHRUM, and Mr. BLAKESLEE.
In the evening the bride and groom were tendered at reception at the ANDERSON home at which a large number of quests were present including the following from Midway; George W. SHAFFER, Miss Carrie E. SHAFFER, Miss Margaret E. SHAFFER, the Rev. Alfred and Mrs. HUBBARD of Midway.
Mr. and Mrs. SHAFFER were graduated from Pennsylvania State college, class of 1936. Mr. SHAFFER has since received his master's degree from the University of Iowa.
Mr. and Mrs. SHAFFER will leave this week for Iowa City, where they will reside.

The wedding of Miss Stella WAGENFEHR, of Pittsburgh, and John M. SHANE, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. SHANE, of McDonald, took place June 15th in the Rittenhouse by Rev. C. M. MUIR, of VanWert, Ohio. Miss Anna Mary ORR played the wedding music and Miss Clara WILLIAMS sang "O, Promise Me" and "At Dawning." The bride wore a gown of ivory colored satin and carried a bouquet of butterfly roses and lilies-of-the-valley. The veil was trimmed with duchess lace and orange blossoms. Mrs. C. M. MUIR, sister of the groom, was matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Miss Virginia LAWRENCE, of Newell, W. Va., and Miss Louise SHANE, sister of the groom. The best man was Samuel SHANE, of McDonald and the ushers were Dr. George P. BUSH and Dr. P. N. JORDAN of Bellewood. After a Bermuda trip, Mr. and Mrs. SHANE will be at home on Broughton street, Pittsburgh.

A very pretty appointed wedding of the week was that of Miss Sarah ROHRER, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Freeley ROHRER of Washington, D. C., and Mr. Samuel Wallace SHANE, son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel SHANE of McDonald. The ring ceremony was performed at eight o'clock on Wednesday evening, September 5th in the Metropolitan Presbyterian church of Washington, D. C. with the bride's father officiating. Mrs. Walter Clifford SCOTT, Jr. of Washington, D. C. was her sister's matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Miss Evelyn A. SAFFORD of Philadelphia and Mrs. Robert MULL of Washington, D. C. Mr. J. M. SHANE, of Pittsburgh, a cousin of the groom, was best man. Ushers included W. C. SCOTT, Jr., Washington, D. C.; Rev. J. Y. JACKSON, Harrisville, Pa.; Rev. S. A. FOSTER, Crafton Heights, Pa. and Rev. H. C. JEFFERS of Wilmington, Del. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel SHANE will be at home after October 1st in Indiana, Pa., where Mr. SHANE has accepted the pastorate of the Second United Presbyterian church.
