REBERT - STEELE
Miss Elizabeth Drennen STEELE of Harrisburg,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John STEELE of
Sturgeon, became the bride of John H. REBERT,
son of Mr. and Mrs. E.H. REBERT of Carlisle,
Pa., at 6:30 o'clock Saturday evening, August 31, 1940, in the Pine Street Presbyterian
church, Harrisburg, with the Rev. William H. STROHM of Fannettsburg, Pa., officiating. Miss
Gladys POTICHER gave an organ recital and accompanied Lee SMITH, who sang.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore
a period gown of ivory faille taffeta with fitted
bodice, long sleeves, and sweetheart neckline. Her long tulle veil was draped from a cluster of orange
blossoms, and she carried a bouquet of white roses, larkspur and
swansonia.
The maid of honor, Miss Dorothy STEELE, sister of the bride, wore a period gown of pale blue taffeta,
designed similarly to the bride's, with blue accessories, and her flowers were asters and larkspur
in pastel shades. The bridesmaids, Miss Barbara SCHALL of Wilkes-Barre, and Mrs. John S. STEELE, Jr.,
of Hays, wore period gowns of shell pink taffeta with matching accessories and their flowers were
similar to those of the maid of honor. The flower girl, Bonnie Rae STUM of Newville, Pa., wore canary
yellow taffeta and carried a basket of mixed fall flowers.
Alfred W. ALLBRIGHT of New Bloomfield, Pa., was bestman and the ushers were John S. STEELE, Jr., brother of the
bride, James A. RUMBAUGH of McDonald, Robert M. HOUSER of Middletown, and George C. MIDDOUR of Shippensburg.
A reception was held at Barberry Manor for the immediate families and friends. Mr. REBERT and his bride motored
to New York and upon their return will reside in Carlisle. Both Mr. and Mrs. REBERT are associated with the
Pennsylvania Turnpike commission.
