Mr. and Mrs. George CEREZO of East Lincoln avenue announce the marriage of their daughter, Henrietta Elizabeth, to Lowell S. PHILLIPS, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas PHILLIPS of Carnegie, at 7:30 o'clock Friday evening, January 15, 1937, in the parsonage of the First Presbyterian church, the Rev. O. E. GARDNER, D.D., officiating. The ceremony was performed at the request of the bride's parents, the young couple having been married Saturday evening, January 9, 1937, in Wellsburg. The bride was attired in a gown of white satin with matching accessories and wore a corsage of pink carnations. The maid of honor, Miss Grace GRIBBIN, was attired in a gown of pink taffeta with matching accessories, and wore a corsage of pink carnations. The best man was Mr. Samuel W. TOWARD, an uncle of the bride. The young couple will reside in Carnegie or Bridgeville.

PHILLIPS - PAYDO


The marriage of Miss Sophie J. PAYDO, daughter of Mrs. Mary PAYDO of Hiller, Pa., and Paul A. PHILLIPS, son of Mr. and Mrs. John PHILLIPS of 234 State street, Oakdale, was solemnized on Tuesday, February 9, 1937, at 9:15 a.m. in St. Hedwig's in Uniontown. The ceremony was performed by a nuptial high mass. The maid of honor was Elizabeth PAYDO, sister of the bride, and the bridegroom was attended by Charles B. ROACH of Oakdale. The bride was attired in an old rose three-piece ensemble with a powder blue blouse and accessories, and wore a corsage of rosebuds and lilies of the valley. The maid of honor wore an ensemble of navy blue with a rose blouse and grey and navy accessories, wearing a corsage of yellow roses. The bridegroom and bestman wore gardenia boutonniers. 
Following the ceremony, a wedding breakfast was served in the home of the bride's mother in Hillier, with fourteen seated at the bride's table. In the evening Mr. and Mrs. Paul O. WERNER at the Fort Pitt Inn dining room served dinner at 8:00 o'clock for the wedding party, the parents and a few close friends. The centerpiece was a wedding cake three tiers high. After the dinner a reception was held in the basement, with dancing to the music of Desire GUYAUX's orchestra. About 50 guests were present.

The guests at the wedding ceremony from Oakdale were Mrs. John PHILLIPS (mother of the bridegroom) and daughters Katherine [PHILLIPS] and Matylda [PHILLIPS], Charles D. McCRORY, Mr. and Mrs. Paul O. WERNER and son William [WERNER], Mr. and Mrs. Carl WERNER and Harry MORGAN.

Mrs. PHILLIPS was formerly employed at the Fort Pitt Inn on the Steubenville pike and Mr. PHILLIPS, who is a graduate of Oakdale high school class of 1926 and McDonald high school class of 1927,is a clerk in the First National Bank in Oakdale. The young couple will reside at 30 Hastings avenue, Oakdale.

Miss Grace GRIBBIN, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel GRIBBIN of Laurel hill, McDonald, and Mrs. Paul PHILLIPS of Sturgeon were united in marriage at eight o'clock Thanksgiving evening, November 23, 1939, in the home of the officiating magistrate, Squire A.B. COCHRAN, Coal street. A large group of friends of the young couple witnessed the ceremony.

PHILLIPS - STEVENSON WEDDING

Miss Florence J. STEVENSON of Valley street, McDonald, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James STEVENSON, and Richard A. PHILLIPS, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward PHILLIPS of Johnston street, McDonald, were united in marriage at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 1947, in the parsonage of the First Presbyterian church by the pastor, the Rev. Joseph H. RODGERS.

The bride wore a gray suit with black accessories and a corsage of white rosebuds. For something old, she wore her grandmother STEVENSON's brooch. The bridesmaid, Miss Leona PHILLIPS, sister of the bridegroom, wore a brown suit with yellow accessories and a corsage of white rosebids [sic]. James D. STEVENSON, brother of the bride, served as bestman.

[First half of the sentence is half cut off.]  [Following the ceremony a dinner] for thirty guests was served in the home of the bridegroom's parents. Ten guests were seated at the bridal table which was centered with a three-tiered wedding cake.

The bride is a graduate of the McDonald high school, and prior to her marriage was employed by the G. C. Murphy Co. The bridegroom is an employee of the Wycoff Steel Co., Ambridge.

Out-of-town guests present were: John STEVENSON and daughter Janice and Mrs. William STEVENSON of Alliance, Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. STEVENSON and Mrs. Lydia DHAMS of Primrose, Mr. and Mrs. Edward PHILLIPS, daughters Cheryl and Karen, and son Edward of Ambridge, Mrs. Nell ROTHERMOND and daughter, Mrs. Mabel BELL, of Muse, Miss Margaret NICOLA of Atlasburg, Miss Margaret BARBACK of Burgettstown, Mr. and Mrs. Edward PHILLIPS, Miss Margaret, Miss Florence, Miss Nell, and Miss Elida STEVENSON, and Mr. and Mrs. John PHILLIPS, Mrs. August DOEHRE, and Thomas PHILLIPS, all of McDonald.
