McNERNEY - GORDON
Miss Agnes GORDON of Greensburg, a nurse in the Allegheny General hospital, and Dr. James M. McNERNEY of Crafton, secretary of the
Odontological Society of Western Pennsylvania, were married Wednesday, May 3, 1939, in St. Peter's church, Northside, Pittsburgh. After a
Southern trip, the couple will reside in Crafton.
Dr. McNERNEY is a former resident of McDonald, and was graduated from the local high school in 1921.

McPEAK - BOWERS
Miss Edith BOWERS, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. D. BOWERS of 2003 Baringer Avenue,
Louisville, Ky., and Cpl. Mallery M. McPEAK, stationed at Camp Campbell,
Ky,
son of Mrs. Maude McPEAK of McDonald [Pa], were united in marriage Thursday,
December 30, 1943, in St. James church, Louisville, Ky., by the Rev. Earl E.
WILLETT.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a dress with lace bodice and full
train. Her long illusion veil was held by a coronet of illusion veil and orange blossoms.
She carried orchids and white roses. The matron of honor, Mrs. J. Kent
RUSSELL, and the
maid of honor, Miss Dolores STEMELIN, both of Louisville, wore long dark green velvet dresses
with matching velvet hats. They carried American Beauty roses tied with red satin
bows. J. Kent RUSSELL served as bestman and the ushers were Robert
EIFF, George PIKE,
and Frank GREGORY. The bride's mother wore a royal blue velvet dress with matching
accessories and a corsage of yellow roses. Due to illness, the bridegroom's mother
was unable to attend.
Following the ceremony, a wedding breakfast was served at the Kentucky hotel.

On Thursday evening, Mar. 9, at the residence of R. CARLISLE in Venice by Dr. ANDERSON, assisted by Rev. S. G. CONNER, Mr. S. J. McPEAK and Miss Ida B. CARLISLE. The ceremony was brief, brilliant, beautiful, the supper great, grand and good, and the presents numerous, nice and
nobby. The young couple have our best wishes, whether they send us any cake of not.

McQUILLAN - DOWLER
Miss Mona LaVerne DOWLER, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. Audley DOWLER of Prospect street,
Midway, and James Lawrence McQUILLAN, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. L.
McQUILLAN of Fannie street, McDonald, formerly of Kane, were united in marriage at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 19,
1947, in the Center U. P. church, Midway. The pastor, the Rev. Eldin BENNETT, performed the double ring ceremony before an altar decorated
with ferns and lighted candelabra.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white imported French marquisette over summer satin with a long torso and a drop
shoulder effect of dutchess lace, long sleeves pointed over hand, and a full train. Her fingertip illusion veil fell from a sweetheart bonnet of dutchess lace and she carried an arm bouquet of white roses, snapdragon, and babies'-breath tied with white satin streamers. For something
old she carried a handkerchief belonging to her grand- mother, Mrs. Ella RAAB. She wore a coin in her shoe which the bridegroom had brought
from the Philippine Islands and she wore a small blue bow. For something borrowed she wore a strand of
pearls belonging to her sister, and she also wore gold earrings, a gift from the bridegroom. For her going away outfit she chose a poudre blue linen suit and a corsage of white
roses.
The maid of honor, Miss Vera DOWLER, sister of the bride, wore a blue nylon gown with matching headdress and carried an arm bouquet of
pink roses, pink asters, and blue delphinium tied with blue ribbon. The bridesmaids wore gowns
fashioned similar to that of the maid of honor,
Miss Betty McQUILLAN, sister of bridegroom, and Miss Agnes BROCKMAN of Midway each wore a yellow organdy gown with matching
headdress. Miss Shirley WILSON and Miss Lorraine McMICHAEL of Imperial, former college roommates of the bride, each wore a pastel green
organdy gown with matching headdress, and Miss Margaret DEER of Midway and Miss Joanne MUSTIO of Imperial each wore pastel pink
organdy gowns with matching headdresses and they each carried an arm bouquet of mixed flowers. Robert DOWLER, brother of the bride,
served as bestman and John WILLIAMSON, Jr., of Midway, Robert WEBSTER of Grove City, Wilbur LUNDBURG and Irwin STEMBERG of
Kane were ushers.
The bride's mother wore a poudre blue crepe dress with black accessories and a corsage of talisman roses. The bridegroom's mother wore a
French creation of black with white accessories and a corsage of pink carnations and babies'-breath.
The church organist, Mrs. John KRAEER, Jr., played the traditional wedding music preceding, during and after the ceremony. Miss Frances
BAMFORD sang "Because" and "I Love You Truly."
Following the ceremony a reception for 100 guests was held in the home of the bride's parents. A three-tiered wedding cake topped with a
miniature bride and groom formed the table center piece and was flanked on either side by white tapers. Bowls of roses were placed in the various rooms of the home.
Mrs. McQUILLAN, a 1945 graduate of Midway high school, attended Slippery Rock State Teachers college. Mr.
McQUILLAN attended school in Kane prior to entering the service. He served 38 months in the army air service, 28 of which were spent in the Pacific theater. He is employed
with his father in construction work. Upon their return from an Eastern wedding trip, they will make their home in Midway.
