Venice Man Weds Noblestown Girl

Miss Grace Marie DIAMOND, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James DIAMOND of Cecil Raod, Noblestown, and J. Dowler McELHANEY, son of Mr. and Mrs. William McELHANEY of Venice, were united in marriage Saturday evening, January 18, 1947, in the manse of the Noblestown United Presbyterian church. Dr. R. L. LANNING performed the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel HALL of Primrose were the attendants. A wedding dinner was served in the home of the bride?s parents. The young couple are making their home with the bridegroom?s parents in Venice. The bride is a 1945 graduate of South Fayette high school and was employed by the A. P. store, Carnegie.

Miss Bessie Brookbank BELL and Mr. James V. McELHANEY were married at the home of the bride?s foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alexander BELL, Fanny street, Thursday, October 1. Rev. J. P. JORDAN performed the ceremony, which was witnessed by some sixty invited guests. The attendants were Miss Emma McELHANEY, sister of the groom and Mr. T. A. BELL, brother of the bride. The wedding march from Lohengrin was played by Miss Elsie SCHREIBER. An elaborate wedding dinner was served.

Miss Marguerite A. GILES of Imperial, formerly of McDonald, and Kenneth McELHANEY, son of the Frank McELHANEYs of R.D. 1, Imperial, were united in marriage at 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 2, 1943, in the parsonage of the Clinton U.P. church by the pastor, the Rev. Ross S. WILSON.

The bride wore a poudre blue street-length dress with white accessories. For her "something old," she wore her mother's engagement ring. The matron of honor, Mrs. Richard PASCOE of McDonald, wore green with white accessories and the bridesmaid, Miss Marie McELHANEY, sister of the bridegroom, wore pink with white accessories. Richard PASCOE of McDonald served as bestman and John SMITH was the usher. Members of the immediate families also witnessed the ceremony.

Following the ceremony, a reception and dinner was held in the Virginia Lee tea room near Clinton. About thirty-five were present. The newlyweds will reside in Imperial.

Miss Clayone Frances JOHNSON, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Francis JOHNSON of Detroit, Mich., and Ordell W. McELHANEY, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. McELHANEY of Center avenue, McDonald, were united in marriage at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 1942, in Martha-Mary chapel, Greenfield Village, Dearborn, Mich., by the bride's pastor, the Rev. Benjamin HOLME, D.D., of Detroit.

Both Mr. and Mrs. McELHANEY are graduates of Albion college, Albion, Mich.  Mrs. McELHANEY was a member of Delta Gamma sorority. She taught last year in the Detroit schools. Mr. McELHANEY , a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, is foreman of the U. division of the Packard Corp., Detroit.
