Alan LEVISON to Elaine Marjorie Osterweil, 23 Oct 1943
From the McDonald, PA Record-Outlook newspaper of Nov 12, 1943, page unknown:

LEVISON - OSTERWEIL

Mr. and Mrs. Maurice H. LEVISON of Station street [sic] have returned from a trip to New York City, where they attended the wedding of their son Alan to Elaine Marjorie OSTERWEIL, daughter of Mrs. Leon OSTERWEIL and the late Mr. OSTERWEIL of New York and Scarborough.

The ceremony was performed on Saturday afternoon, October 23, 1943, at the Delmonico, 502 Park avenue [sic], by the Rev. Dr. Louis NEWMAN. The bridegroom's brother, Jay, recently honorably discharged from the army and now living in New York, was bestman, and Miss Carol BETTMAN of New York, classmate of the bride, was maid of honor.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her uncle, Leopold CECIL, wore an ivory satin gown with a yoke of duchess lace and her mother's wedding veil of duchess and rose-point lace, which reached the full length of the train. She carried a bouquet of white orchids, stephanotis, and bouvardia.

A reception followed the ceremony, which was attended by approximately a hundred people. Music was provided by a string ensemble. After the reception, the immediate families retired to the apartment of the bride's mother in the Delmonico, after which the group had dinner in the Mandalay room [sic].

The bride is a graduate of the Dalton school in New York City, and Vassar college [sic] in Poughkeepsie. She also studied at the New School for Social Research and the Art Students League, and has taken intensive courses in French. Before her marriage she was employed as editorial assistant to Sydney Mosely, British radio commentator for the Mutual Broadcasting System, and was research assistant for the British Library of Information in New York. In addition, she is an accomplished sculptress.

The bridegroom is a graduate of McDonald high school [sic] and the University of Pennsylvania. He is now in the United States army [sic] and is stationed at Ft. Eustis, Va. Before entering the army in June, he was sales promotion manager for the New York and New England division of the Calvert Distillers corporation.

Before returning home, Mr. and Mrs. LEVISON spent some time with their son Jay in New York, and with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Robert T. DRAZEN, in New Haven, Conn.
