JOHNS - BAKENS
Miss Vera BAKENS, niece of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar BAKENS of Sturgeon, and Mr. Harvey A. JOHNS, Jr.,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey JOHNS of Center avenue, McDonald, were united in marriage
at 8:00 o'clock Saturday morning, September 29, 1939, in the Robinson's Run U. P. parsonage,
McDonald, the Rev. Ross T. CAMPBELL, D.D., performing the ring ceremony.
The bride wore a powder blue traveling suit with navy blue accessories and a corsage of white
rosebuds. The bridesmaid, Mrs. George NEVERGALL of Sturgeon, wore a navy blue suit
with a corsage of red rosebuds. Mr. NEVERGALL served as bestman.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the JOHNS home. There were 30 guests.
Mr. and Mrs. JOHNS will reside in Sturgeon. Mr. JOHNS is employed in the Jones & Laughlin
Steel mill, Aliquippa.

Invitations are out for a miscelleanous shower to be given by the
Misses BAMFORD and SMITH at the William BAMFORD home Saturday afternoon
in honor of Miss Labrida CLELAND whose marriage to Bruce JOHNSON of
Turtle Creek will take place this month.

The Rev. Charles WISHART, president of Wooster College, officiated at the wedding on Tuesday afternoon of Miss Catharine B.
CAUGHEY, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph CAUGHEY of Kentucky avenue, Pittsburgh, PA. and the Rev. Richard B. JOHNSON, pastor of the Robinson Run United Presbyterian church of McDonald. The ceremony which was solemnized at 2:45 o'clock took place in the home of the bride's parents. The bride wore a gown of white canton crepe, trimmed with brocaded ribbon, and a bandeau of orange blossoms in her hair. Her flowers was a shower of sweet heart roses and lilies of the valley. Her twin sister, Miss Marjorie CAUGHEY was maid of honor. Her gown was a pink chiffon and she carried Mme Butterfly roses. Miss Helen JOHNSON, sister of the groom, played the wedding music. Upon their return from a southern trip Mr. and Mrs. Johnson will make their home in McDonald.
