A pretty wedding took place at seven-thirty Tuesday morning, June 10, 1924, in St. Alphonsus' church, when Miss Mary Cletus GRIBBEN, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas GRIBBEN of Barr street, became the bride of Albert J. HARRIS, son of Mr. and Mrs. George HARRIS of Erie. The nuptial high mass was sung by the Rev. Fr. Joseph A. BURGOON. The bridal party entered the church and marched to the altar to the strains of Lohengrin's "Bridal Chorus," played by Miss Mary MURPHY of Fanny street. Miss MURPHY also played McDowell's "To a Wild Rose" during the ceremony. Mrs. Sherman BRAUN of Station street sang the "Ave Maria" during the offertory. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was gowned in robin egg blue georgette crepe and wore a black lace hat and carried an arm bouquet of sweetheart roses. Miss Rose GILLIS of Sturgeon was Miss GRIBBIN's bridesmaid and wore a gown of pink georgette crepe and a black hat and carried an arm bouquet of American Beauty roses. Thomas GRIBBEN JR., brother of the bride, served as Mr. HARRIS's best man. The altar was beautifully decorated in the season's flowers. A wedding breakfast at the home of the bride's parents supplemented the ceremony at which members of the immediate families were present. Mr. and Mrs. HARRIS left the same day on a motor trip to Buffalo, N. Y., Niagara Falls, and other points of interest and upon their return will live for the present in Steubenville, Ohio, where Mr. HARRIS is employed.

Mr. and Mrs. George HARRIS, Miss Ursula HARRIS, Mr. and Mrs. Bartholomew J. CROWLEY and children of Erie attended the wedding and reception.

HARRIS - DEAN

Miss Margaret DEAN, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin DEAN of Sturgeon, and Pfc. George A. HARRIS, who resided in the William McCUEN home, Vincennes avenue, Oakdale, before entering the Army air corps, were united in marriage at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 1943, in the Oakdale United Presbyterian church by the pastor, the Rev. W. V. RITCHIE.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white satin gown with fingertip veil. She carried a bouquet of rosebuds. The maid of honor, Miss Merle DEAN, sister of the bride, wore pale pink and carried rosebuds. The bridesmaids were Miss Mary McCAHILL of Carnegie, who wore a pink gown. Miss Mary Ann HOLMES of Midway and Miss Isabelle DEAN, both of whom wore blue gowns. Each carried a bouquet of rosebuds. Robert MCLAUGHLIN of Oakdale served as bestman and the ushers were A. Elliott BUDOVITCH of Muse and Harry LAND and William McCUEN, Jr., both of Oakdale. The flower girl was Elizabeth WALKER of McDonald and James DEAN was ringbearer.

A wedding supper was served in the DEAN home and a reception followed in Eagles hall, Sturgeon. The young couple received a number of gifts.

One of the most beautiful home weddings of the season was solemnized Thursday, June 7, [1928], when Miss Martha COWDEN, daughter of Mrs. Nettie M. COWDEN, of Hickory [Pa], became the bride of Joseph R. HARRIS, of Princeton, N.J., son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph R. HARRIS, of East Palestine, O. [Ohio].  The nuptial was performed at the home of the bride.

The ceremony was read by Rev. Joseph S. MORLEDGE, pastor of Mt. Prospect Presbyterian church, and a former college mate of the bridegroom at Princeton, before an improvised altar banked with palms and ferns.

The bride was gowned in white chiffon with a veil of tulle held in place by orange blossoms in coronet fashion.  She carried a bouquet of bridal roses showered with lilies-of-the-valley.  Samantha SIMPSON, of Hickory [Pa], and Jack HARRIS, nephew of the bridegroom, were the train bearers.  John COWDEN, brother of the bride, gave her in marriage.  Attending the bride was her sister, Mrs. Robert B. SNOOK, of Cuyahoga Falls, O. [Ohio], as matron of honor.  Little Martha Jane Allison and Dorothy CARLISLE were the flower girls, and carried baskets filled with rose petals. Fred CROPP, of Princeton [note: the city? or the seminary?] a classmate of both the bride and bridegroom at Wooster [Ohio], and a classmate of the groom at Princeton, was the best man.

The bride is a graduate of Wooster college of the class of 1926 and for the past two years has been an instructor of mathematics at Union High school, Burgettstown [Pa].  The bridegroom was a graduate of Wooster in the same class and at present is a student in the Princeton Theological seminary.

Mrs. Joseph MORLEDGE sang "I Love You Truly" and "At Dawning."  Lohengrin's wedding march was played by Miss Ora McCARRELL.

After a wedding trip, Mr. and Mrs. HARRIS will go to Silver Lake in the Adirondack mountains, where Mr. HARRIS will occupy the pulpit at a resort church. Later they will go to Princeton where the bridegroom will resume his studies this fall and his pulpit duties at the Perineville, N. J. Presbyterian church.

Miss Minnie BROWARSKY, daughter of Mr. Simon BROWARSKY of East Lincoln avenue, McDonald, and Mr. Joseph HARRIS, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry HARRIS of Locust street, Pittsburgh, were married Sunday afternoon, September 8, 1940, in the Beth Shalom Synagogue, Pittsburgh, by Rabbi Goodman A. ROSE and Cantor ZALUDKOWSKI.

The bride wore a misty blue ensemble with wine accessories. She carried a bouquet of red briar-cliff roses and babysbreath. The maid of honor, Miss Julia BROWARSKY of McDonald, sister of the bride, wore blue crepe with lighter blue accessories. Mr. Isadore HARRIS, brother of the bridegroom, served as bestman.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the synagogue. Mr. and Mrs. HARRIS left for an Eastern wedding trip and upon their return will reside in McDonald.

HARRIS - CARTER


Miss Mabel Louise CARTER, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. J. CARTER of Valley street, McDonald, and Samuel R. HARRIS, son of Mr. and Mrs. James HARRIS of Muse, were united in marriage at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 4, 1942 in the home of the bride's parents. The Rev John WILLIAMS of Canonsburg performed the ring ceremony.

The bride wore a poudre blue jacket dress with white accessories and a corsage of white roses. 

Preceding the ceremony, Mrs. Grace THORNTON, sister of the bride sang "Because" and "O Promise Me." accompanied by Mrs. Angeline LEWIS, who also played Lohengrin's wedding march. 

Following the ceremony, an informal reception was held in the CARTER home. The couple then left for a trip to Atlantic City. 

Mrs. HARRIS, a graduate of McDonald high school and he Ella Rene Beauty school, is employed in Pittsburgh. Mr. HARRIS, a graduate of Cecil high school and of Lincoln university, Lincoln, Neb., has been inducted into the service and leaves for camp on August 13.
