[ GIFFIN - GILMOUR ]
Hymen's Popular Altar
A Merry Wedding Party Monday Evening at the Home of Mr. GILMOUR. [From
the] Helena, Mon., Independent.
A very happy wedding took place last Monday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. GILMOUR, of the valley, at which time their daughter, Miss Maggie GILMOUR, was
united in marriage to D. GIFFIN, of Pittsburg, by the Rev. Dr. REED, of Deer Lodge.
The house was lavishly decorated with plants and flowers, carnations and roses besides the principals. The bride was charmingly attired in white china silk, and carried
a bouquet of white roses. She looked sweet and pretty, as brides
proventially do. She was attended by her sister, Miss Jean GILMOUR, and the groom's best man was
J. ROSS. After the ceremony and the hearty congratulations were over the company proceeded to the diningroom, where the tables loaded with good things was the
scene of feasting [sic], merriment and eloquent responses to toasts. Then followed strains of music and dancing, a very characteristic feature of which were Scotch
figures, to the wierdly beautiful music of bagpipes, by the MCRAE brothers, dressed in kilts. Many lovely and valuable gifts were presented testifying to the high regard
in which the parties are held; the bride having lived here about six years and being a general favorite. The groom was also a former resident of Helena, though now
engaged in business in McDonald, Pa., and is highly esteemed by all who know him. The happy couple departed amidst a shower of good wishes and rice for Helena,
and thence via the Great Northern to their future home, stopping in Chicago on their way to visit the fair.
