The Rev. Dr. and Mrs. O. E. GARDNER of Station street are making a brief trip to Morganton, N. C., to visit their son Joseph Everette GARDNER and his bride, formerly Miss Mable Patton DALE, who were united in marriage in the home of the bride's parents Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lenoir DALE in Morganton on Wednesday, December 19, 1934. The bridegroom is the only surviving child of Dr. and Mrs. GARDNER and is a graduate of Davidson college, class of 1930, and is on his fifth year of teaching Latin and French in the Morganton high school. He spent ten days at Christmas last year and three summer vacations in McDonald with his parents. His bride is a teacher also in the Morganton grade school. She was the guest of the GARDNERS in the manse in McDonald for a week last August. Mr. and Mrs. GARDNER will reside in the Taylor Apt. Morganton, N.C.

(News-Herald, Morganton, S. C.)  Of much interest here and elsewhere is the announcement of the marriage of Miss Mabel Patton DALE and Joseph Everett GARDNER. 

The wedding, which was very quiet, was solemnized Wednesday morning, December 19th, at ten o'clock in the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur S. DALE, near Morganton. The ceremony, witnessed by members of the immediate family, was performed by the Rev. C. E. GREGORY, pastor of the First Presbyterian church.  The ring service was used. 

The bride, a very charming and attractive young girl, is very popular in her home town. She received her education at the Asheville Teachers college, where she was a member of the Phi Kappa Delta. For several years she has been a teacher of the fourth grade of the Morganton grammar school.

Mr. GARDNER is a son of the Rev. Dr. and Mrs. O. E. GARDNER of McDonald, Pa. He was reared in Chattanooga, Tenn., where he was graduated from McCALLIE school, valedictorian of his class. He received his degree at Davidson college in 1930, "cum laude," He has been a teacher of Latin and French in the Morganton high school for 
several years and is also coach of the Morganton basketball team. 

Mr. and Mrs. GARDNER are making their home in a cottage near the home of Mrs. I. M. Taylor.

Miss Valetta LEWIS, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin LEWIS of South McDonald street, McDonald became the bride of Mr. W. L. GARRET of Dinsmore on Saturday, October 28th. The ceremony took place at Wellsburg and was performed by the Rev. P. E. BURTT, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of that place. Mr. GARRET is a son of Mr. and Mrs. William GARRET of Dinsmore and is employed as a motorman in the mines there.

Miss Valetta Wilhelmina LEWIS, the younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin LEWIS of South McDonald street, and William Fredmore
GARRETT, son of Mr. and Mrs. William GARRETT, were married at the manse of the First Presbyterian church in Wellsburg, W. Va., at high noon, Saturday, October 28, 1922, the Rev. P. E. BURTT officiating. The bride, who was unattended, wore a gown of brown crepe de chine, with hat to match. Mr. and Mrs. GARRETT intend to go to housekeeping in the near future. Mr. GARRETT is employed by the Bertha Coal company at Dinsmore.
