STAGWILLO - DUTKIN
[ DUTKIN is the Groom. ]
Miss Dorothy Ruth STAGWILLO, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond STAGWILLO of Clinton, became the bride of Alex M. DUTKIN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas DUTKIN of New Castle, on Saturday evening, July 20, 1946, in St. Stephens Episcopal church, Sewickely. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. George THOMAS before an altar of ferns, white flowers, and candelabra. Julian Williams, church organist, gave a recital of wedding music.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white satin, made with a fitted bodice, square yoke of lace, long sleeves, and fashioned with a skirt of net entrain. A full length veil fell from a Juliet cap of lace. She carried a white prayer book with an orchid marker. Her only ornament was a strand of pearls, a gift of the bridegroom. For "something old" she carried a good luck handkerchief given to her as a child by a friend of the family for that very occasion. Her attendants were Miss Stella DUTKIN, sister of the bridegroom, as maid of honor, who wore a gown of aquamarine with matching headdress, and carried a bouquet of summer flowers. The bridesmaids were Miss Marcia CARLSON of Tionesta, Miss Dorothy NEAL of Imperial, and Miss Helen NEWHAM of Squirrel Hill, Pittsburgh, all former classmates. They wore matching gowns of pastel shades of pink, ice blue, and yellow, wearing matching flower headdresses and their bouquets were similiar to those of the maid of honor. The bride's mother wore a dress of aqua crepe with black accessories, while the bridegroom's mother chose black and white crepe with black accessories, and their shoulder corsages were white gardenias. Richard NADRASH of Glenshaw served as bestman and the ushers were Richard PERKINS of Vandergrift and David SARCONE and Marcus HOLPHER, both of Pittsburgh.
Following the ceremony, a wedding reception for 150 guests was held in Bailey's diningroom, Coraopolis.
The bridal couple left for an extended honeymoon to California. The bridegroom served four years as a marine fighter pilot in the Pacific area before his recent discharge. The bride graduated in May from Slippery Rock Teachers college.
