DAVIES - SAILER

Henrietta A. SAILER of Pittsburgh, daughter of Mrs. Ann JOHNSON of Jamestown, N.Y. became the bride of John T. DAVIES, son of Mr. and Mrs. William D. DAVIES of 210 Third street, McDonald, at 7:30 o'clock Friday evening, July 3, 1942, in the First Presbyterian church, McDonald. The service was read by the pastor, the Rev. Oscar E.
GARDNER, D.D. Standards of ferns and white gladioli were used in front of the altar. 

The bride wore a gown of poudre blue with matching accessories and a corsage of orchids. Miss Betty LANG of McKeesport, the maid of honor, wore a navy blue gown and a corsage of gardenias. Albert A. SAYERS of Waynesburg served as bestman and the ushers were Jon N. T. WALKER and William D. WALKER of McDonald. The fifteen-minute organ program prior to the wedding was played by Miss Irene GRIMM of Pittsburgh. 

The bride is a graduate of the Jamestown, N.Y., high school and attended Boyant Stratton school, Buffalo, N.Y. Mr. DAVIES is a graduate of McDonald high school, 
Pennsylvania State college and the law school of the University of Pittsburgh. He is now associated with the Hartford Accident Indemnity Co., Pittsburgh. 

A small reception was held in the R. GILCHREST home at Edgewood. The young couple took a trip to the shore of Avalon, N.J., and upon their return will make their home in Pittsburgh.

The marriage of Miss Margaret CANONGE and Mr. Arthur Davis was quietly solemnized Saturday morning, June 30, 1928, in the home of the officiating minister, the Rev. S. L. COBB, pastor of the Midway Baptist church. Mr. and Mrs. Frank NAGODE of Primrose were the attendants. The impressive single ring ceremony was used. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clovis CANONGE of Primrose. The bridegroom is the son of Mr.and Mrs. Isaac DAVIS of Midway. Mr. and Mrs. DAVIS will make their home in Midway.

Clyde DAVIS of Midway [Pa] and Miss Daisy WHITE of Carnegie were married on Wednesday of last week.  Mr. DAVIS is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac DAVIS and is employed by the Railroad Company at Carnegie [Pa].

DAVIS - FARRAR

Miss Mary Helen FARRAR, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William FARRAR of R.D. 4, McDonald, and Mr. Daniel Howard DAVIS, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel DAVIS of Houston, were united in marriage at 8:30 o'clock Wednesday evening, December 1, 1937, in the home of the bride's parents in the presence of the two families and friends of the bride and bridegroom. The Rev. Oscar E. GARDNER, D.D., pastor of the First Presbyterian church, McDonald, performed the ceremony before an embankment of ferns, poinsettas [sic= poinsettias], and white chrysanthemums, the beauty of which was enhanced by tall white candles. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore the white satin gown in which she appeared as May Queen at Waynesburg college. She carried calla lilies. The maid of honor, Miss Helen ALLISON of Hickory, a life-long friend of the bride, was attired in Copenhagen blue velvet with a gold head dress. She carried gold chrysanthemums. Mr. J. Ross McCRACKEN, the athletic coach of Hickory high school, was the bestman. Mr. Thomas Lee HOLLAND of Pittsburgh and Mr. Donald HOLLAND of Ellsworth were the ushers. Mrs. Francis COLLINS of McDonald sang "O Promise Me," accompanied by Mrs. J. F. McQUISTION. Mrs. COLLINS also played the Lohengrin wedding march. Christmas greens were used in the living-room archway and a color scheme of red and white predominated in the diningroom decorations, the table centerpiece being of red and white carnations, white snapdragons, and red roses. The bride and bridegroom left that evening on an Eastern trip. Among the out-of-town guests were Miss COULTER of Maryville, Tenn., aunt of the bride; and Mrs. A.B. MEAHEN of Jamestown, N.Y.
