COVODE - BROCKMAN

Miss Mary Etta BROCKMAN, daughter of Clarence BROCKMAN of Midway and the late Mrs. BROCKMAN, and Mr. John H. COVODE, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. John H. COVODE of Ingram, were united in marriage at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 1939, in the home of the officiating clergyman, the Rev. S. Herbert JAMISON, pastor of the Ingram United Presbyterian church, in the presence of the immediate families.

The bride wore a frock of Dubonnet velveteen with matching accessories. Her corsage was of talisman roses. The matron of honor, Mrs. Harold A. COLE of Dormont, a sister of the bridegroom, wore gray angora wool with green accessories. Her corsage was of red roses. Mr. James F. MOORHEAD of New Castle served as bestman.

Following the ceremony, the young couple left for Virginia Beach and the Shenandoah Valley. After September 17 they will reside at 1 Kreston street, Ingram.

Mrs. COVODE graduated from the Midway high school in 1933. Mr. COVODE, a 1938 graduate of Grove City college, is employed with Hall Laboratories, Pittsburgh.

[ COWDEN - WEAVER ]

At the Central Presbyterian parsonage, Canonsburg, Wednesday evening, March 16, the Rev. J. M. WORK solemized the marriage of Miss Ida E. WEAVER, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick WEAVER of Cecil township and D. M. COWDEN of near Westland [Pa]. Mr. COWDEN is a member of the well-known COWDEN family of Mt. Pleasant township, where the young couple will make their home. 

Miss Mary E. RICHARDS and Herman STEFFEN, both of McDonald, were married Thursday evening of last week 
at the Presbyterian parsonage by the Rev. J. P. JORDAN. They will go to housekeeping on Valley street.

COWDEN - MCVAY

Miss Mable C. MCVAY, daughter of Ray MCVAY of Buffalo, Washington county, and John R. COWDEN, son of Mrs. Nettie COWDEN of Hickory, were married at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 1, 1944, in the First Presbyterian church, Waynesburg, by the Rev. Joseph M. Hopkins, pastor of the Mt. Pleasant U. P. church, Hickory, assisted by the Rev. Joseph R. Harris, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, with the couple standing before a background of poinsettias and Christmas greens.

Preceding the exchange of vows, Mrs. D. W. LYNCH, organist and choir director of the Waynesburg church, played the wedding music.

The bride wore a corsage of red roses and babybreath on her soldier blue traveling suit with dark blue accessories. She was attended by Mrs. James MCVAY, Jr., of Buffalo, who was attired in a poudre blue traveling suit with matching accessories. Her corsage was of yellow roses. R. Lee ADAMSON of Rea, a schoolmate of the bridegroom, served as bestman.

The bride is a graduate of Trinity high school, Washington. The bridegroom is a graduate of Mt. Pleasant Vocational high school, Hickory, and attended Carnegie Institute of Technology at Pittsburgh. he is now in business as a construction contractor.

The couple left for a brief honeymoon and will be at home later in Hickory.
