From the McDonald, PA Record-Outlook newspaper of Aug. 26, 1938, page unknown:

ARNOLD - WATSON

Large Jane Cowl dahlias, bronze in shade, were combined with fall oak leaves, palms and ferns to form an embankment before the altar in the Second Presbyterian church, Butler, Saturday, August 20, 1938, when Miss Florence WATSON of Butler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew WATSON of Station street, McDonald, became the bride of William Millard ARNOLD of Youngstown, Ohio, a son of George D. ARNOLD of Pittsburgh. Tall cathedral tapers in seven branched candelabrum shed a soft light over the assembled company as the service was read by the pastor, the Rev. George C. MILLER. The church was filled with a large number of friends and relatives of the couple.

Preceding the ceremony a musicale was presented from 3:45 until 4:00 o'clock by Mrs. C. E. MILLER, organist; Miss Esther MAPES, contralto, and Miss Floretta PETERSON of McDonald, soprano. Mrs. MILLER played the organ solo, "Indian Love Call," Miss MAPES sang "In the Garden of My Heart" and Miss PETERSON sang "The Sweetest Story Ever Told." Miss MAPES and Miss PETERSON, accompanied by Mrs. MILLER, then sang the duet, "The Bells of St. Mary's." During the ceremony Mrs. MILLER played softly "O Perfect Love."

The bride who was given in marriage by her father, wore an afternoon dress of Gainsborough blue alpaca trimmed with soutache braid. Her hat, of the same shade, was trimmed with matching ostrich plume, and her shoulder corsage was of red Senior roses and bouvardia. Mr. ARNOLD had as his bestman. Stanley KYLE of Youngstown, Kenneth R. WATSON of Philadelphia, brother of the bride, Richard MARTIN of Butler, and George GRISSEL of Detroit, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, were ushers.

Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church. In the receiving line with the bridal party was the bride's mother, who wore an afternoon dress of dusty rose lace and a purple hat. She wore a natural colored orchid corsage.

Upon their return from a motor trip through the New England States, Mr. and Mrs. ARNOLD will be at home at 143 Afton avenue, Youngstown, were Mr. ARNOLD is an instructor of printing in the schools. The bride is a graduate of Butler Senior high school and Grove City college. She has been a teacher in the commercial department of the Butler Senior high school for several years and is retiring president of the Business and Professional Women's club of Butler. Mr. ARNOLD graduated from
Wilkinsburg high school and the Carnegie Institute of Technology. He also did graduate work at Pitt university.
