The BENNETT-THORNTON Clan Reunion
Dinner and Business Meeting

From the McDonald PA Record-Outlook newspaper, Aug. 22, 1984, page unknown:

The BENNETT-THORNTON dinner and business meeting was held Saturday, August 11, at the Cherry Hills Inn, McDonald.

New officers for the coming year will be F. Joy HAYES, president; Reginald BENNETT, vice-president; Mae SPENCER, secretary; Saunders BENNETT, treasurer; and Muriel LATNEY and Donna ELLIOTT, chaplains.

The history committee gave an extensive report on the BENNETT-THORNTON Journal which will be published in the coming year.

The BENNETT-THORNTON Clan held an indoor picnic on Sunday at the Cherry Hills Inn due to inclement weather. The invocation was sung by the group, and the welcome was given by Mae SPENCER. The memorial to the deceased was presented by Constance BENNETT.

This year's graduates include Jeffrey BATES from the University of Virginia and the following high school graduates, Alishia BENNETT, Ro___ BATES, Leon DOWDY, Lew DOWDY, ___ and Mark PERKINS.

Gifts and prizes were awarded the following people: Cora THORNTON, La Shunda BENNETT, Ida BENNETT, Melvyn ALLEN, Lee HOLLAND, L___ DEMPSTER, Mark PERKINS, Lew and June DOWDY, Rev. B. F. SCOTT, ___ Laverne THORNTON, Grace THORNTON, Mabel HARRIS, Hilda BRAXTON and Joanne WADE.

The closing activity of the day was a game called Trivia Pursuit of the BENNETT-THORNTON Clan. The questions were based on the history committee's journal.
