Obituary of Mark ROBB
died May 15, 1892

From the McDonald PA Outlook newspaper, February 18, 1893, page unknown:

ROBB

The United Presbyterian has the following:

Mark ROBB of McDonald, Pa., died May 15, 1892, after a short sickness in his 85th year.

Mr. ROBB was born of John and Jane ROBB, August 12, 1807, in the old homestead near McDonald. Early in life he made a public profession of his faith in Christ in Robinson Run congregation, then under the pastoral care of Dr. RIDDELL. May 31, 1838 he was married by Dr. WILSON, then pastor of the Robinson congregation, to Miss Jane Scott DONALDSON. To them were born several children, of whom only two are now living—James ROBB of Noblestown and John S. ROBB, the noted lawyer of Pittsburg. Mr. ROBB loved the church and honored it, and soon the Lord honored him by is being elected to the office of ruling elder, to which office he was ordained Oct. 9, 1851, in Robinson Run congregation, where he remained in honor till he, with a few others, organized McDonald congregation, where he was again honored with the same office until his death.

Mr. ROBB was a man for whom the Lord did great things. He gave him great health and strength, so that until his last sickness he scarcely knew anything about being sick. He, physically considered, was a man among men. He possessed strong mental powers, and was exceptionally well informed on almost all subjects, especially in church and state, frequently serving on committees where his intelligence and sound judgment were highly appreciated. God gave him a great heart to love all, both great and small, rich and poor. His life was a sunny one, never moody, never despondent. His was the power to be happy and make others so. This world is much better, brighter and happier for his having lived in it for almost 85 years. Greatly blessed was that family that had him for its founder and head; those congregations that had him so long for their member and officer; that community that had him for its citizen.

From an article in the United Presbyterian that was reprinted in the McDonald Outlook.
