Obituary of John P. (Red) MACERELLI, Sr.
former professional football player, died 1984

From Oct. 24, 1984 McDonald PA Record-Outlook:
John P. (Red) MACERELLI, Sr., 53, of 236 Arlington Drive, Canonsburg, a local businessman and former professional football player, died on Friday, October 12, 1984, in the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born November 2, 1930, in Muse, a son of Margaret BUDAVICH MACERELLI of Canonsburg and the late John E. MACERELLI.

He spent most of his life in Canonsburg, where he was a member of St. Patrick Church, American Legion Post 902 of Houston, the Bethel Park Chamber of Commerce and the Muse Independent Club.

Mr. MACERELLI was owner and operator of the Red Cap Cleaners in Bethel Park for the past 20 years and was owner of Macerelli Hofbrau in Canonsburg.

He graduated from Cecil High School in 1949 and attended St. Vincent College, Latrobe.

He served with the U. S. Army during the Korean War.

Mr. MACERELLI was a professional football player from 1954 to 1957, playing as an offensive guard for the Cleveland Browns during their world championship season, and for the Green Bay Packers.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia ZANKOWSKI MACERELLI; four sons, John E. MACERELLI and James C. MACERELLI, both of Canonsburg, Joseph A. MACERELLI of Cecil and Jeffrey S. MACERELLI of Muse; a daughter, Janet M.
MACERELLI at home; two sisters, Betty ANTOINETTE of Canonsburg and Mrs. Richard (JoAnn) HOUZE of Pickerington, Ohio; three grandchildren, Sara M.,
Karla and Jared E. MACERELLI; and several nieces and nephews.

A brother, Joseph E. MACERELLI, is deceased.

Friends were received in the Sollon Funeral Home, Canonsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, Canonsburg, by the Rev. Fr. Raymond A. CERCONE. Burial was in St. Patrick Mausoleum.
