The Rev. and Mrs. Josiah THOMPSON
Centerview, Mo., formerly from the McDonald PA area
51st wedding anniversary
From The
Outlook, December 3, 1898:
The Centerview, Mo., Review tells of the celebration of the
marriage of Rev. Josiah THOMPSON, who is well known to all of the old
residents of this section. "Today, Oct. 14th, is the 51st anniversary
of the marriage of the Rev. and Mrs. Josiah THOMPSON, who reside about a
mile from town. The day also marks the 42d anniversary of his entrance
into the ministry of the Presbyterian Church. Mrs. THOMPSON has been a
helpless invalid for five years. Of their four children, the eldest son
lives in Philadelphia, Mrs. Ella BLAIR, a widow, lives with her parents,
John A., is Republican candidate for County Collector, and one son died
in childhood. No man perhaps in the County is better known than Mr.
THOMPSON. He came to the County when Centerview was unknown; he built a
church near town, which has since been bought and used by the colored
people. Mr. THOMPSON has reached his four score years, but one would
never guess his age by his appearance, as he is in the best of health.
His days have been spent in doing good, and the reward of the good
awaits him."
