25th wedding anniversary
From the McDonald PA Outlook newspaper, Mar. 18,1916:
Commemorating the 25th anniversary of the marriage of Henry and Pauline LEWIS,
more than fifty ladies were entertained at their hospitable home in Barr St.,
on Monday evening. The home was beautifully decorated with roses and tulips.
Mrs. LEWIS was assisted in receiving, by her mother, Mrs. BAZALZET and
sisters, Miss Mary and Mrs. THRUM. Diversions of the evening were games and
guessing contests. Mrs. DELOCHE and Mrs. W. S. LOCKHART were awarded prizes in
the educational contest. The guests presented the quarter of a century bride
with a silver pudding dish of dollars. A splendid lunch that bore testimony of
the culinary efficiency of the bride was served at eleven o'clock to the
accompament (sic) of good wishes and congratulations
of the guests. After the departure of the older ones, the young ones
celebrated the occasion for an hour dancing the new steps. The out of town
guests were Mrs. SILHOL, of Bridgeville; Mrs. HOOBLER, of Corliss; Mrs. George
LAVIE and daughter of Columbus, Ohio and Mrs. Jennie CADOUL of Sturgeon.
