Transcripts of the Obituaries from The Reporter newspaper, Washington Co., Pa., Fri., May 11, 1923, page 20:

DEATH ROLL - MRS. CAROLINE POTTS - Claysville, May 11 - Mrs. Caroline Potts, aged 73 years, widow of Hugh Potts, died yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. L. Stewart, Mill street.

Her death was due to complications of diseases.

She was born in Harrison county, Ohio, where she had spent the most of her life, coming here to spend her declining years at her daughter's home.

She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. J. N. Mills, of Southern Pines, N. C., and Mrs. C. L. Stewart, of this place.

Three grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at the Stewart home Saturday evening at 7 o'clock, conducted by her pastor, Rev. I. T. Green.

The interment will be in the Greenwood cemetery, Harrison county, Ohio, Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock. She was a member of the Mother's club and of the Christian church

 

JAMES M'CONNEL - James Cope McConnell died last evening at [6?] o'clock at his home in Canton township, of pneumonia.

He had been ill only a few weeks.

He was aged [78 ?] years.

Mr. McConnell was born near Tridelphia, W. Va., son of Samuel McConnell.

He was united in marriage to Miss Margaret Ann Fordyce, February 10, 1869. She survives with the following children: C. Edward, Clinton W., Harry L., McConnell, and Mrs. J. M. Stollar, all of Washington, and Mrs. Cora Moore, of Claysville. He leaves, also, [13 ? 18 ?] grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Mr. McConnell moved to West Finley township shortly after his marriage. He had been a resident of Washington county since 18[69?], following farming the greater part of his life.

The funeral services will be held Saturday at the home of his son, S. Edward McConnell, in Canton township, at an hour to be announced later.

Interment will be in the Claysville cemetery.
