Article from The Reporter newspaper, Washington Co., Pa., Fri., Aug. 26, 1904, p. 5:
In Honor of Guest - Mrs. J. A. Rankins, of Venice, entertained at dinner on Friday, August 19, in honor of her guest, Mrs. W. C. Moore, of Hickory. Those present were Mrs. Smith and family, Mrs. Howe and family, Mrs. McIllhaney [?] and family, Mrs. Bartlett and family, Mrs. Bolinger [Solinger?] and daughter and Mrs. Clark. The house was beautifully decorated with plants and cut flowers. At noon dinner was served.

Surprise Party - A surprise party was given for Lester White, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. White, west of town, Wednesday, August 24, the occasion being his sixteenth anniversary. About thirty-five of his friends were present and spent the evening pleasantly.

[not quoted] Claysville United Presbyterian Church held annual basket picnic at Wheeling Park. Included Dogwood Grove, Taylorstown and Claysville churches. - no surnames given.
