Thomas Worley [?], Sr., of Shire Oaks, is critically ill.
A new oil rig is being erected on the farm of George Caffy[?] in Buffalo
township and drilling will soon be commenced.
A marriage license was issued in Pittsburg [sic] Saturday to Chester B.
Bremmeman and Alliene Boyles, both of Monongahela. [NOTE: Courthouse was
open on Saturday?]
Adamson Bros., of Independence, are extensively engaged in the lumber
business, occasionally making heavy shipments at Wellsburg, W. Va.
Mrs. J. Calvin Dague, of Scenery Hill, who has been seriously ill for
the past two weeks, does not improve as rapidly as her many friends
would like to see.
A new coal tipple is being erected at Venetia.
Mrs. O. R. Booth, of Prosperity, is critically ill.
Clark Saunders will remove to Robert Conkle's farm, near Odell.
Miss Olive Fulton, of Dunn's station, is the guest of friends in
Pittsburg[sic].
David Wilson, of Dutch Glory, will begin work at Ellsworth next week.
A string band of 10 instruments has just been organized at Scenery Hill.
Dr. S. L. McCullough, of Burgettstown, is very ill at his home on East
Main street.
A series of revival meetings will soon be held at the Methodist church
at Houstonville [e.g. Houston, PA].
A circular fox hunt will be held near O___er church in Peters township,
February 22.
John Conkle will move to A. J. Sunnedecker's farm in West Bethlehem
township, this spring.
Ross B. Mowl, of West Bethlehem township, gave a select dance at his
home Thursday evening.
Lloyd Sprowls, of Houstonville [e.g. Houston, PA]., who had his arm broken some time ago,
has entirely recovered.
Tom Conkle will remove to the Nathan Evans farm, in West Bethlehem
township, in the spring.
Joseph Kammerer, of Kammerer, has purchased a tract of land adjoining
his farm at $35 per acre.
A marriage license was issued in Pittsburg[sic] on Friday to Chas. Smith
and Annie McCormick, both of Florence.
A teacher's institute will be held in McCarrell's school house, in
Robinson township, Saturday, February 23.
Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Kennedy and Miss Mary McCorkle, of Canonsburg, will
leave next week for a trip to the South.
The Rev. William B. Ulrich, pastor of the Lutheran church at Scenery
Hill, has recently recovered from a siege of grip.
There will be preaching at the Church of Christ, at Monongahela, every
evening this week by Rev. I. N. Frye, of Charleroi.
Miss Ola Smith, teacher of the Jamison school in Independence, has
purchased a bell for the school building.
Miss Flora Rasel, of West Bethlehem township, who has been ill for two
months with rheumatism at her home, has re________ [rest cut off].
