Article from The Reporter newspaper, Washington Co, Pa., Jan. 10, 1820, page unknown:


STRAYS - Came to the plantation of the subscribers, in Strabane township, about the 9th of December, [italics] two strays [italics] -- one a [caps] sorrell horse [caps], 3 years old past, shod before, a star in his forehead--the other is a mare [caps] colt [caps]. Entered on the township clerk's book. The owner or owners is desired to come prove property, pay charges and take them away. - [caps] John HAMILTON [CAPS]. Jan. 10th 1820.

[Summary] Another "stray" notice was cut off in Xeroxing.  Mr. John THOME put in the notice, dated Jan. 10th, 1820. 

 

Democratic meeting [caps added to surnames]- Agreeably to public notice a number of the democratic republicans of Washington county, met at the house of, Mr. John JOHNSTON, in the borough of Washington, on the 27th ult. for the purposes of taking into consideration the propriety of electing delegates to meet, in a general state convention to nominate a candidate for governor.

The meeting was organized by calling gen. [sic] Andrew SUTTON to the chair and James GORDON, secretary - After which the following resolutions were adopted:
[each 'resolved' is in italics]

  Resolved, That it is expedient to nominate delegates to meet in general state convention for the purpose of nominating a governor.
Resolved, That a committee be appointed by this meeting for the purpose of calling the townships together, at their usual places of meeting, to elect delegates to meet in the borough of Washington, at some future day, (to be made known by the committee) for the purpose of nominating delegates to meet in general convention.

  Resolved, That the following persons be the committee, viz: Demus L. McFARLAND, Thomas M'CALL [McCAIL ?], esq., Dickerson ROBERTS, esq. gen. [sic] Andrew SUTTON and James GORDON.

Resolved, That the proceedings of this meeting be signed by the chairman and attested by the secretary and published in the Reporter and Examiner [i. e. both were the local newspapers in Washington, Pa.]. - Andrew SUTTON, Chairman. Attest - James GORDON, Secretary.
