Abel Adams Aguilar, Placides, Macasieb - My grandmother lived in Philadelphia for at least 70 years. She was married to Leo Aguilar (a Filipino from Visayas) and Sebastian Placides from Bicol. I remember yearly Filipino picnics at Willowgrove Park and then they were changed to other parts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Albright Aleksiejczk Antrim - ANTRIM- John b about 1816 d 1885 VA married Sarah about 1838. their children were Thomas Mason Antrim b 1840 NJ d 1886 PA, Sarah b 1843 NY, John E b about 1845 NY, Anna Louisa b about 1848 PA, George W b 1851 PA, Emma babout 1854 PA, Kate b 1857 PA. John (the father), Thomas Mason, and John E all served in the Union Army during the civil war. Afterwards Thomas Mason became a minister in the Protestant Episcopal Church and was a member of the Camden Masonic lodge and Post No. 2 Grand Army of the Republic according to his death notice. Thomas Mason was buried at Mt Vernon Cemetery in Philadelphia. Appleton Avellino Baker - John Baker who married Elizabeth Sullivan ca 1760. Bainbridge - BAINBRIDGE-Samuel Bainbridge was born circa 1860 in Philadelphia. He married Emma HINMAN circa 1896 in Philadelphia. They had a son Thomas BAINBRIDGE, born circa 1897. Bamford Bargerstock Bateman - Abraham Hamer, b, 1720, m, Martha Bateman, b, 1735. Married, November 4, 1756, Old Swede's Church [now called Gloria Dei], a National Historical Site in Philadelphia. They lived in Chester Co., Pennsylvania. Children were: Adam, Joel, Thomas, Abraham Jr., Nathan, Allen, Ezekiel and Noah, Enos, Mary Magdalene, and Ezra. Martha Bateman Hamer died during childbirth in her 43rd year in 1778. She had been a member of the Baptist Church Bean - "William Warren Bean, was born in Dublin, Ireland, and came to the United States in 1833. He located in Bucks county, Pennsylvania, at that time one of the most progressive and prosperous sections of the country, and there he followed architecture and building, and in addition engaged extensively in farming until 1843. In that year he sold all his interests in Bucks county and moved to Philadelphia, where he carried on a large grocery business until his death in 1855. He was united in marriage with Miss Fannie Briton, like himself born in Ireland, as has been stated, and by this marriage became the father of seven children, three of whom are living: Daniel, whose home is in Fresno, California; Martha, the wife of George Bright of St. Louis, Missouri, and Thomas A. The father was a devout member of the Presbyterian church and took a great interest in the welfare of the congregation to which he belonged. His political faith was anchored firmly to the principles of the Democratic party, and in the success of that organization he at all times manifested the most earnest interest. He was a very active worker for the good of the party and during his life spent a large amount of money in its behalf, although at no time desirous of holding any of the offices in its gift, either by election or appointment. They were of German descent, and at some point some of the family began spelling the name BUCKIUS instead of BOCKIUS. Would appreciate any information at all on Johannes Bockius, his marriage to Elizabeth Reisser (about 1745), children born to them, or of Germantown during their lifetimes there (1741 - about 1800). Dickey - I’m looking for information on William Dickey, born about 1833 in Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland. He later immigrated to U.S., reportedly as a youth. On 20 October, 1864 he married Eliza McKinley in Philadelphia, PA. He served in the Civil War with the 214th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment. In 1865 he joined his brother Thomas in Mercer County, IL. Five years later, in 1870, he moved to Dixon County, Nebraska, and homesteaded near where Eliza’s family had settled. William’s siblings were identified in a letter by a great aunt as follows:

It was further stated that none of his siblings left Philadelphia except for the brother in Illinois and unfortunately, we have lost contact with all their descendants. Mention was made that the grandmothers were distant cousins named Robinson, from Belfast. Any information on William and/or his family would truly be appreciated. Dixon Dollarton Donohue - Michael Donohue b. abt. 1844 in Ireland. Immigrated abt. 1855 from Liverpool. Married Rose Sullivan (also born in Ireland). They had six children - John Harold (b. 1863 in Philly), Mary (b. 1865), Ellen (b. 1867), Frank (b. 1870), Catherine (b. 1876) and Anna Marie (b. 1878). Michael was a butcher and drover. We do not know where Michael and Rose came from in Ireland. The earliest we can find Michael is in the 1870 Census.
- John Harold became a butcher as well, and eventually opened up Donohue's Market in 1905 in Sharon Hill. The business closed in 1944, but the building still remains. John married Anna Agnes Beers in 1889 and they had 14 children by 1913, all whom remained in the area. Dougherty - The Late Cardinal Dennis Joseph Dougherty's family. Dougherty Dougherty - James Gillen and his wife Margaret Dougherty emigrated from Ireland to Philadelphia before 1820. He was a farmer and distiller. They were Roman Catholics. Engard Epstein Evans - Descendants of William Evans & sons: Albert Watson Charles Frank Walter Edmund Sussanah Philadelphia area late 1880s to 1930s Exley - Gordon Rudolphus Exley Sr. the first Director of Transportation for the City of Philadelphia and descended from the Mayflower ( Edward Fuller), and First Families of America, {John Potter} a founder of New Haven CT.. This family includes Orlando Bronson Potter who wrote the first National Banking Act during President Lincoln's time. Gordon Exley's grandfather [George Gilbert Potter] served in the Civil War and wrote various letters home during that period. Gordon Exley is descended from five Revolutionary Soldiers, including Colonel Aaron Rowley, Deacon Daniel Potter, Phineas Potter and others. Gordon Rudophus Exley Sr. was followed by a son and grandson by the same name. His son was active in the development of Montgomery County and his grandson a Captain in the Special Forces [Viet Nam]. His daughter Anna Marie Exley married Ernest Arthur Hatton Sr. They had three sons, Ernest Jr., Gordon and Paul Hatton who lives in Bucks County, PA. and owns a portion of the farm on Meeting House Road of the late Worthington family. All of the Hatton children were baptized in Trinity Lutheran Church in Germantown. The Hatton lineage is not documented, or fully known, but early Colonial records and newspaper articles of Philadelphia [1700s] show a Merchant family by that name with ships that sailed to various countries and with plantations in the South and in the Islands. I am a grandson of Gordon Rudolphus Exley Sr. and now a resident of Florida. Feinour Ferman Field - I am tracing my family tree and have drawn a blank so far with my Great Grandfather's brother, WALTER FIELD b.1870's in England, emigrated to Philadelphia in 1898. His wife was HELEN (nee Marshall) b. 1884 in Scotland, she emigrated in 1904. They had 2 children, daughter MERYLE (died young) and son WALTER BUCKNELL FIELD b. 1914 in Philadelphia who served in the US Army in WW2, reaching rank of Captain (Unconfirmed). He died I believe in 1946 from illness brought about by wounds sustained in the war. Have found them on the US Census searches but nothing else.

Grigoleit Granowicz Grimmer - Great-grandfather’s Americanized name was John Grimmer. He came from somewhere in Germany and arrived in Philadelphia in 1890, according to the 1900 census. I don’t know if he was a loner or came over with other family members. He married (I hope; haven’t been able to find a record of the marriage) my great-grandmother, Katharine Weick, in about 1892. They eventually left Philadelphia for Carteret, NJ. I welcome contact by anyone researching the name Grimmer, especially if you know something about John and his family. HENDERSON married Elizabeth Ann HAAS (HAUSE); son Jacob S. HENDERSON married Sarah E. HASLAM; son Theodore Richard HENDERSON married Edith BALLANTYNE. Malcom and Esther's only daughter Anna C. HENDERSON married Joseph T. STODDART. Samuel and Jacob were wharf builders and ship carpenters (joiners) who probably worked at Wm. Cramp and Sons Shipyard. Theodore was a dyer. Sons James and George went to Cincinnati Humphreys - Thomas b. 1797 Ireland Irwin/Erwin/Irvin/Irvine - James and Mary Irwin lived in Kensington District, Philadelphia Co Pa in the 1830`s,40`s and 50`s. Jackson - We are looking for any information on John Jackson who sailed from Liverpool arriving Ellis Island on January 7th 1905 on the Lucania. John was a Lacemaker from Nottingham, England bound for Philadelphia. He was travelling alone and it is not known if he was joining a third party or for employment. John came from a large family of Lacemakers. Mostly, his siblings were born in Calais, France where the family moved to set up the Lace trade. John was born on their return to Nottingham. It is believed he was born in 1877. Any information on his descendents and his last resting place would be most welcome by other Jackson researchers. Martin JOHNSTON was born about 1818-1819 in Ireland and Maria CALVIN/COLVIN was born 1822 Creevlea, Co. Monaghan, Ireland. They married in 1845 at Stonebridge/Newbliss Presbyterian Church, Clones parish, Co. Monaghan, and emigrated to New Jersey c. 1848. In 1850 census, Monmouth Co., Upper Freehold township, New Jersey: Martin Johnston, 32, labourer, born Ireland / Maria Johnston, 23, born Ireland / William, 3, born Ireland / Eliza Ann, 1, born New Jersey. Kisel. Klady Kline Knecht Knickiner Kockett Kring - Christian Kring and his wife Catherine. They were from Dillenburg Germany and came to America in the late 1700s. Krulak - From Russia. Kuhnle Kuhns Larsen Laugier Lay Layman Leabourne Lee LePage Lerner Levering - John Wigard Levering died in Roxborough, Phila. Co., PA about 1745. Wife Magdalena (Boker), they had 10-12 children I think. They are supposedly buried in Leverington Cemetery but thats all I know. Lewis Lindfors - Arthur Lindfors was born 24 Jun 1880 in Siipyy, Finland. He immigrated to US in 1901; married Sanna Wirtala-Makela around 1902 in MA; they lived in Maynard, MA and had two daughters; they later divorced. Arthur moved to Philadelphia and was living there from around 1917 through early 1940's. He remarried to someone in Philadelphia. He allegedly committed suicide. * Mary Gross was the daughter of Frances Flood (d.1971) and Edward Gross (d.1977?), both of Philadelphia. Mary Bentley had two sisters; Kathleen Bradley (Gross) and Veronica Leen (Gross). There was one brother, Edward Gross, Jr. * Edward Gross had several brothers including John Gross and Ted Gross, all of whom lived in the Philadelphia area on or about Pentridge St near 50th and Baltimore. * Frances Flood was the daughter of Susan Flood (d.1964), nee Gibbons, born in Philadelphia. Frances had three sisters: Margaret Flood, Mary Wigmore (Flood) and Virginia Garrett (Flood) Flood. * Mary (Flood) Wigmore (d.1998) was married to Francis Wigmore (d.1973?). They lived in Upper Darby then Newtown Square, Delaware County, PA. In the late 1990s Mary moved to Arizona with her sister Margaret. * Margaret Flood was married and had a son in the 1940s. She was subsequently divorced and gave the child up for adoption. She joined a convent in the 1950s, where she remained a nun until the 1990s. Her last known place of residence was Arizona. * Virginia (Flood) Garrett married Ted Garrett in the 1950s and had several children, including Ted Jr., Jimmy, and Jeannie. They lived in Miami Florida until sometime after Ted's death. Virginia moved to Georgia with her daughter Jeannie in the 1990s.
