William Jones
a prominent citizen of Greenville died at his home on North Front
Street at 3 o'clock Saturday morning. Mr. Jones had not been a well man
for nearly a year and last fall his condition had been frail, but he
rallied during the winter, growing worse about 3 weeks ago, passing
away peacefully Saturday morning.
Funeral services at the house, Monday at 2:30 PM with burial at West Middlesex
where a short service will be held at the grave.
Mr. Jones was born March 18, 1826 at Jonesville, near Greenfield, this county. He was married May 12, 1856 to
Nancy A. McDowell of Clarksville. Of this union 9 children were born and all living;
J. Fred Jones, Jamestown, NY., W. Harry and C. Watson Jones of New York city, Allen T. Jones, Conneaut, Ohio,
Arthur and David Howard Jones of Pittsburgh, Mrs. J. K. Burnett, Pittsburgh,
Mrs. H. B. Reed, Chicago and Miss Nannie C. Jones at home.
Mr. Jones was at one time owner of the Fanny Furnace at West Middlesex,
some coal mines and the "Company Store" and was very prominent in
business circles in the valley. He was witty, genial and kind. His wife
who has been an invalid for years was the subject of his one thought,
and his cheerful devotion is known and cherished by his friends as a
heritage of priceless value. He passed away in the sure hope of eternal
life, through faith in the saviour.

WILLIAM JONES
William Jones,
one of the oldest and best known residents of the county, died Saturday
at his home in Greenville, aged 80 years. He was born in Clarksville,
where he spent his youth and while a young man, conducted a general
store with Samuel Byers as a partner, he practically controlled the business in the Shenango Valley. Later he was associated with
P. L. Kimberly
and others in the coal and iron business of the Valley. He acquired a
comfortable fortune and a number of years ago retired from active work.
He was a member of the Methodist Church and was admired and respected
by those who knew him. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. J. K. Burnett and Arthur Jones
of Pittsburgh, Mrs. H. Reid, of Chicago,
Fred of Jamestown, New York; Allen
of Conneaut, Ohio, and Miss N. C. Jones at home. One sister,
Mrs. Elizabeth McKinney of Mercer is living.
