Monday,
November 7, 1898 - The last of the pioneers of No. 10 school
district, Hickory township, in the person of Mr.
Joel Frazier, who was laid to rest in the Keel Ridge cemetery.
Mr. Frazier was born in the state of New Jersey, Sept. 5, 1805, and
was a son of a Baptist minister who came to this section of the state in
the early boyhood days of his son and settled on the farm where his son
has ever since lived. He was
married three times, first to Anna Spears, of
Greenville, and with this union he had three children, Polly,
married Elias Hoover, living near Pardoe; Robenna,
married John Baker, deceased, and Alvin,
deceased. His second wife was
Sarah Patterson, of Slippery Rock, and his
third, Priscilla Miller of Millerstown, O.;
with these there was no issue. In religion the first of his life he held to the Baptist
faith, but in the latter part of his life he united with the Methodist
Episcopal church, in which faith he died.
In politics he was a Republican.
He lived an honest and upright life, and was very firm in his
convictions. The pall bearers
were all men of about 80 years of age, and were Hon.
David Robison, D. S. Love, James Hann, George Hofius, Jonathan Eaton
and Thomas Horseman.
Services were conducted at the residence by his pastor, Rev.
Burton, of West Middlesex, assisted by Rev.
Rollinson.
