Widely known Shenango Valley
business man, died unexpectedly at 9:45 p.m. at his home (400 Baldwin
Avenue). He had been ill for the past two weeks following a heart attack.
Mr. Bowen was born Dec 30, 1876 at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of David
and Anna Reese Bowen. He had resided in Sharon for the past 11
years, moving here from Farrell where he had lived for 36 years. He was
employed for the past 28 years bt the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea
Company and at the time of his death was manager of the coffee department
of the super-market on Spearman Avenue, Farrell. He was a member of the
First United Presbyterian Church, Farrell. On August 28, 1897, he married
the former Mary Rainey, who survives with one
daughter, Mrs. Clarence H. (Maude Bowen) Davis,
Toronto, Ohio, and one son J. (John) Elmer Bowen,
Youngstown, Ohio; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
