Hi! I am looking for the descendants and ancestors of Joannes (John) Schirato who settled in Lebanon in the early 1900's. His wife was Elisabetha Kolla. Their children were John, Anthony, Elizabeth, Peter, Stephen and Matthew. Some children use the Schirato spelling and others use Shirato. I think that Joannes was born in Novoszello, Hungary and Elisabetha was born in Molin / Molidorf in the Banat, Hungary.

Searching for info on Elizabeth (Foster) Zehring. Was probably born in Phila, or NJ, but moved to Lebanon area in late 1920's or early 1930"s and middle initial might be "M". Parents names were Walter and Anna (March) Foster. She was bron approx. 1907. Siblings included Edna, Laura, her twin sister Mary, brother Walter. Checked Leb city directories, and know that she and her husband George Zehring married date??, lived on north 11 street, but also that they disappear from the directorys around 1973 or so. He may have worked at bethleham steel. Probably had 4-5 children, as through obits of her parents, i cannot account for 4-5 grandchildren, they are probably george and elziabeth's. Trying to find a death date for elizabeth. Also using siblings obits, i think i can place her death in the 1970's. I have placed other messages on other boards, and was emailed an addy to try of a zehring (lebanon county-i believe-it was at kaley.net which is a lebanon internet provider), but i received no response to my email. I am trying my hand at this genealogy thing for someone and would appreciate any help. Thank you in advance.

Looking for parents of Annie Elizabeth Martin Rhen b 14 Dec 1851 in Annville. Father's 1st name possibly Joseph. Hi.
I am looking for the ancestors of Amos FOCHT (b. 11/12/1844 in North Annville Township d. 10/17/1923 in Snyder Co.) and his wife Susan/na SHELL (b. 4/14/1851 in Lebanon Co., d.3/25/1919 in Snyder Co.) The two were married on 8/22/1869 in Jonestown.
According to death certificates, Amos's father was William FOCHT, mother unknown and Susan/na's parents were Henry and Catherine SHELL.
A search of census records reveals no William FOCHT that can be undoubtedly linked to Amos. In the 1860 census, Amos FOCHT is living with a Samuel (b. Abt. 1799) and Rebecca (b. Abt. 1806) FOCHT, who I assume are his grandparents.
If anyone is researching these lines, I would like to share information. If anyone knows where FOCHTs and SHELLs are buried in Lebanon County, I would appreciate the lead. I know some are in the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church and also at Walmer's Church. I have yet to link them to my family with any certainty, however, it seems that the SHELL and FOCHT families merged with some frequency.

Thanks,
Patty Looking for parents of Martin Luther Miller, born possible April 26, 1759. I know that he relocated to Wythe, VA where he married a Anna Maria "Mary" Baugh of Annville, Lancaster, PA in 1784. I know that her parents were from Eggenstein, Baden, Germany and feel that he was also from one of the German families in the area. But have hit a dead end. Any leads would be appreciated. Thanks. Per the query about Joseph Johns, and why he was listed as 27 in 1850, I DO know some of the people who did those census takings were a little careless. Another reason he may have been listed as 27, when he was born about 1794, is that, as an escaped slave, it he was listed as a different age, that may have sort of disguised who he was, since as an excaped slave, people from down south might still wanted to return him to his former master, to collect any reward, since he would have been considered property, and, to say this wwould have been distasteful to him is really a monumental understatement. After Dred Scott, in 1856, when non white people were declared non-citezens, with no rights, there were efforts made to send ex-slaves back down south and, in at least one instance, someone from Lancaster County, Pa was sent south as a slave who was a free colored person, and only by someone smuggling out a peice of information to the north ( it may have been a letter, I can't remember ) was he able to get free again. I recall that two ex-slaves ( from a story, I recall ) were found by Mt laural, at Piketown, in Dauphin County, Pa, and were to have been returned south as slaves, but rather thank be returned to slavery they " took the cup ", that is, they drank hemlock to poison themselves. They are buried up[ there, although I don't think there's a plaque ( There should be, though, I think !) At the time of the battle of Gettysburg, Jeb Stuart was not present, because, besides burning the town of Chambersburg, after he plundered it ( partly for new shoes, I'm told ) he also was riding around the contry looking for escaped slaves, which must have struck terror in the hearts of the free colored population. So, in answer to your query, that may be a possible explaination. The Mar/Apr, 2005 issue of of "Pennsylvania Magazine" has a feature article about a black man, Joseph Johns, who claims to have been an escaped slave from Farquier County, Virginia, who fled through the Underground Railroad to Dauphin County in the 1840's then moved to Lebanon County about 1856. He eventually settled on the farm of John Fahler at Green Point according to the article.
In the 1850 census of PA, he is already living in Lebanon County, Union Township, on the farm of Isaac Bender (a 'Widow Fahler' lives next door). At that time he was 27, BORN IN PENNSYLVANIA.
While the name, race and place fit, Joseph Johns of the article was supposed to have been 112 years old when he died in 1906 (born c 1794)and have been born in VA.
Does anyone have access to the 1860 or later census to see how old he was then and where he was born? While this is not my line, I am interested in the history of the Underground Railroad and thought following this man might provide more information.

Here's where the clinker comes in, who was the father of Cornelius, obviously James, since Cornelius's mother, Catherine, who died in 1881 is shown on the 1880 census as a widow, still with the name of Fox, living with her son Cornelius. There are several James Fox's, and since Cornelius was born in 1828, it leaves several possiblities, including one or two james from Hummelstown, Pa, who are mostly decendants of a John Fox and Anna Rupert. Margaret was alive in Philadelphia in 1924 when caring for dying sister.
Margaret is NOT buried with her spouse (who is buried with her parents)
I suspect she returned to Jonestown, perhaps living with a married daughter, where she died and was buried.
Any help to trach her down will be greatly appreciated.
