Would appreciate hearing from anyone having any info on the Bower family of Myerstown. Henry Bower, born in 1792, was a doctor and died about 1841. His son William was also a doctor, born in 1817, and started practicing in Myerstown about 1836. He had 6 children, three of whom were doctors and one a pharmacist (Henry, Gibson, William and Addison). I believe all four practiced in or around Myerstown in the mid-1800's.

I'm trying to locate the parents of my great-great grandfather Daniel Boone Smith. He was born in England but immigrated to Lebanon, Lebanon County about 1830 as infant with his German parents.
In a letter, he says he attended Professor Klug's Academy as a young child. There was a Morvaian Academy run by a Mr. & Mrs. Klug listed in a history of Lancaster County but not Lebanon. I contacted the Morvaian Church in Lancaster and they had no information and no records.
Does anyone know of a Professor Klug's Academy in Lebanon during the 1830's or 40's?
Anyone know of any other great sources in Lebanon that might lead me to my great-great-great grandparents? I've even tried looking the 1840 census for any Smith in the county with a boy about 10 yrs old. (Only head of households were listed) I found several with children the right age but don't know where to go from there. Daniel Boone was out of the house by 1850.

I am looking for information on the Beckley Family who lived in Lebanon County. My gggggrandafther Jacob Spangler (1806-1897) married Maria Beckley (1810-1851). I believe her parents were Michael Beckley and Eve Glassbrenner. Names also in the family can be found in the following article. NOTE: The Michael Spangler mentioned is Jacob and Maria's Son. Jacob and Maria had both died prior to this article published in the Lebanon Daily News in September of 1899.
FAMILY REUNION HELD
Sunday at the Residence of Mrs. Sarah Beckley, Prescott.
Israel Spangler, of Danville, and brother, Isaac J. Spangler, of Opdyke, Ill., two veterans of the Third Illinois regiment, who spent last week attending the G. A. R. encampment at Philadelphia, have been guests of their brother, Samuel J. Spangler, Lehman Street, and other relatives, Sunday visited Prescott, in company with at least 25 cousins, and attended a pleasant family reunion at the residence of their only aunt. Mrs. Sarah Beckley, who is better known among the relatives as "Aunty." The meeting between the western brothers, who have not been here for 36 years, and their relatives was a very affectionate one and many pleasant reminiscences were related. At noon the party was entertained at an elegant dinner prepared by Mr. and Mrs. Frank P. Beckley and supper was enjoyed at the residence of ‘Squire Adam Beckley. The meals served at both places included everything in season. Aunt Sarah Beckley and these cousins sat at the festive board: Israel Spangler and Isaac J. Spangler, Illinois; Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Spangler, West Myerstown; Miss Maria Spangler, Aaron Spangler and Miss Jennie Ulrich, Myerstown; Mr. and Mrs. Moses P. Spangler, Lieut. Col. M. A. Gherst, wife and daughter, and J. A. Spangler, this city; Mr. and Mrs. Abel Spangler and son, and Michael Spangler, Bismarck; Mr. and Mrs. John Lawrence, Hebron; Mr. & Mrs. Ephraim Dohner, Mr. & Mrs. Daniel Stover, F. P. Beckley and children and Adam Beckley, all of Prescott. The reunion will ever remain green in the memory of those present and particularly was the event enjoyed by the western brothers, who left for home Monday.

Seeking others researching the Karsnitz, Gerberich, and Fittig families of early Lebanon and Dauphin Counties. Ongoing research into the Bethel Moravian records has shown that my ancestor Henrich Karsnitz & his wife Catharine (nee Gerberich)had five children baptized there from 1803-1813. Supporting evidence suggests [but does not prove] that Catharine was the daughter of Johannes Gerberich & his wife Catharine (nee Fittig). These families lived in or near Fishing Creek at the time of the records.

Louisa Ritterspach and Peter Bertram (spelled Berdram in the record) were married 7 June 1844 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jonestown, Lebanon Co., PA. This is per the on-line LDS search site. Both were born in Germany (Bavaria for Louisa & probably also Peter). Louisa's parents were Nicholas & Christianna. The surname has been spelled many ways including Rittersbacher, Rittersbach, etc. & gradually evolving into Ritzbaugh/Ritzpaugh. By 1850 they (Peter & Louisa R. Bertram and Nicholas & Christianna Ritterspach & their other daughters) were living in Luzerne County, PA.As there was a German-born William Rittersbach (wife Elizabeth; children Charlotte & Jacob), living in Londonderry, Lebanon Co. in 1850 (per census), I'm wondering if there was a connection between these families or if there was anyone else from Germany in Lebanon Co. with a similar name. No matter how it's spelled, this is a pretty uncommon surname!
Thank-you,
Cindi

I am searching for anyone with information on the Strohman family from Lebanon County. Joseph Strohman travelled from York County around 1810 and started the Strohman family as it is known today. It was a rather large family with many members remaining in the county, particularly the city of Lebanon and North Annville, Swatara and Union Townships. Every Strohman today in Lebanon Co. can trace their history back to Joseph. I have much info on Joseph and many of the descendants but would be interested in finding out more.

I have an old cemetery on my farm that we are cleaning up. Some of the smaller head stones have been moved due to kids playing in the cemetery. I have done my best getting these stones back to were they belong, but my problem is this: I have several very small stones that only have initals on them, one in each corner. I have been told that they are foot stones to the larger headstones, is this true? Only one of the stones initals match the larger stones. I have also been told that these are headstones of babies which I believed to be true at first but have since found two headstones that belong to a 3 month old and a 15 day old. Can anyone help me figure this out? The headstones are from the 1830's to 1850's.Jill

While traveling in North Annville we were able to find the fenced grave site and memorial stone of John and Christian Blauch, imm. Berne Switzerland, 11/3/1750 on the ship Brotherhood.
Included in the geneology book that I have is a photo that states, "Christian Blauch Homestead Today". This would have been 21 years ago. Is the homestead still standing today? And if so, could I have directions to it? I don't want to bother the current owners if the house is still there. I would simply like to see where it is and maybe take a picture of it, with permission.
I am also confused about the burial site. Christian Blauch was buried on a tract of land he owned. But the homestead, where it appears they lived, was a fair distance away. Is this correct?
Thanks in advance for any help.
