Lebanon County, Pennsylvania

I am interested in any persons having a connection with the Walmer family. All individuals seem to be related to Peter Walmer the Elder who came to Philadelphia in 1741. I have cataloged thousands of individuals over the U.S. and they all have traced back to this man. I have a few lines not tied in yet but that is just a matter of finding the right records. I would be happy to pass on any information and would like to share yours. Thanks. I am interested in discovering who the parents of Sarah Yocum might have been; she was born August 21, 1794 in Lebanon Co., Pennsylvania. Since the county wasn't formed at this time, it must have been another
county then. She married Joseph Wynn of Dauphin County, Pennsylvania and they moved to Ohio after their marriage. Both died in Washington Co., Ohio. Sarah Yocum died on Sept. 15, 1859. I'm looking for family tree information for the Getzes. My Getzes eventually settled in Getz Corner, VA. A gravestone indicates that a Balzer Gotz (umlaut over the "o" ) was from Lebanon, PA. Johannes Baltasser Gotz and Johann Adam Gotz arrived in Philadelphia on 7/28/1753 aboard the ship Two Brothers. All indication is that Balzer (Baltasser) settled in Lebanon. He married Maria Wolflauttin (Mary Wolford) and Ana Zell. I have much of the information from their children on down. Any help would be appreciated. Susan Hoffa, a resident Myerstown, appears in 1870 census in Jackson Township, Lebanon County. I cannot find her in 1860 census. I need to find her husband's name as there are 3 children, including my grandfather shown in 1870 census. He was the youngest, 5 years old. I believe she was married twice, to
brothers. I would appreciate any leads you may be able to furnish me. Thank you. Interested in any information on the surnames EDRIS, EDERS, ETERIS, EADER, ATRIS, ETRIS, etc. Particularly any information from the 1700's and early 1800's. I have additional information on families married to Edris's. Ulrich Peters and wife Rosina Catherine Heuschel were married in Germany and arrived in Philadelphia in 1732. The family lived in Lebanon County, Pa., because a daughter was baptized in 1749 at the Quittaphalia Reformed Church. Ulrich and Catherine moved to Shenadoah County, Va in 1773. They moved with son John Peters and his family. Ulrich died there in 1776. Any information about this family will be helpful. I am the GGGS of Henry C. Carl, born 1838/39 Lebanon County, married and enlisted in Civil War in Illinois, and died in Georgia during the war. I have been unable to track the Carl's any further and am hoping you may give me some direction. It is of great interest since the family surname was changed from Carl to Carroll about 1915. A family story (fact or fiction??) says that HCC was an illegitimate son of an itinerant school teacher of the "Carrolls of Maryland" family, and that HCC's mother was germanic. Apparently HCC was given the germanic version of his surname and was raised by his mother. I would appreciate any info you may have, pointers to further research, and/or a contact name(s) of a researcher(s) who may be working with the Carl family. GIRARDVILLE,SCHULYKILL CO - Christian PITTS (1838-1915) m Wilhelmina ROSENCRATZ in Germany in 186?. In 1870 census a Catharine Rosencrantz is listed (Mother to Wilhelmina?) She was not listed in 1880. When did she die - where buried? EDWARD PITTS (1877-1953)s/o Christian & Wilhelmina m. Caroline WHITMAYER b. Lebanon, PA d/o John WIEDMAIER and Caroline. Their son Charles Albert PITTS (1904-1988) m. Anna TAUNITIS d/o John & Gertrude (BERNOTAS) Taunitis. PITTS & WHITMAYER are buried Wild Cat Cem. Preston Hill. TAUNITIS buried Catholic Cemetery in Franckvill. Need ANY info on ANY of the above people and their ancestors. I have found my Great Great Great Grandfather, The Rev. George Miller, in
Dauphin Co. PA where he was born about 1770 to a "worthy German Family". I
have no idea who his parents were or how they arrived in Dauphin Co. Tthe
Rev George was a Baptist minister. He left Dauphin Co. in the year 1792
and located in Richmond Twn. ( I am not sure where that is), however, the
article continues that he was the first permanent settler in that locality.
Is there anyway I could find out who George's parents where? The article
does not say they went with him when he left Dauphin Co. The article also
states that "Father Miller was a man of generous impulses, and was
specially connsiderate of the poor. There were nine children, all of whom
survived him", but never any mention of his wife. I only know one of the
nine and that was my Great Great Grandfather - Isaac Miller, who was born
in the Twp of Rockdale in 1806 and married Patience Allee in 1827 - they
had ten children (all these children's names and dates of birth were
mentioned) and one of these ten Parker E. Miller was my Great Grandfather,
who served in the Civil War. Mr. Richard Harvey ( another one of you great
volunteers) has found Isaac and their children buried in the Millers
Station Cemetery in Crawford Co. It still leaves me with who was Geroge's
parents and who did he marry and what are the names of the other eight
children. Any help you can give me would be very much appreciated. Thank you, Could you please check your info for John Bonner b. 1775? PA m. Bridget Crossman, son-George Bonner b. 1805 PA? I have not been able to find any Bonners in PA!! Thank you! I have photos from Mt. Lebanon cemetary of Corinne Christian Romig (1872-1960), Rev. Edwin Howard Romig D.D. (1868-1942), Ada A. Christian (1851-1925) and William Goodhart Christian (1849-1930). I have a fair handle on the Christian line. Would esp. like information re: Goodhart and Romig. Thank you. Willhelm Apple arrived at Philadelphia in Sept 1743 and married ca. 1743-44 Anna Maria _____________ (Saltzgerber?), he died in mid-life leaving a widow and several children: Anna Maria, John Henry Apple, Andrew Apple, John Apple, and John Christian Apple. Will exchange data. Need data on John and Jacob PALM, Johan Gerhardt WEICK(John WHITE), John Henry LENHART/LEONARD, resident Heidelberg Twp., Berks, PA, 1790. I am looking for parents, birth date, and any other information regarding Johannes Schebele (John Snavely). He may have been born in what is now Lebanon Co, moved to Swatara twp (Dauphin Co), where he died in about 1816. He left 3 small sons who were raised with help of orphans court. He married Maria Frantz at Zion Luth Church in Harrisburg in 1804. The oldest son (Jacob) stayed in Midleton PA area, John went to Wisconsin (no info), and Michael France Snavely came to Iowa in 1849 (my line). Any information re this family would be appreciated. I am seeking information on what church that Rev Augustus Lochmann was pastor at abt 1828 in
Lebanon CO as he married the ancestors I am researching. Thanks. Ongoing family history research reveals a Campbelltown connection. Any
thoughts or help you can send is appreciated. Thanks for your time. I am interested in any information about the JUNGST, later changed to YENGST, family of Lebanon County. I have read all of Schuyler Brosnan's and Joseph Yingst's work on the JUNGST family. It seems that there were several variant spellings of the original JUNGST. While there are many Yingst still in Lebanon County, there are no YENGST. My main interest is finding the connection between the first and second generation JUNGST and the third or possibly fourth generation Yengst. Most of my YENGST are buried at Royer's Meeting House Cemetery near Richland. Henry YENGST b.1811 is as far back as I can validate., I have reason to believe he is the son of Abraham YENGST of Derry Twp. Dauphin County, but no real justification. My YENGST family had
marriages to the BOLLINGER, SPANGLER, BURKEY, and EBERLY families of the Jackson and Heidelberg Twp. area circa 1820 to 1885. Any information about any of these families would be greatly
appreciated. I was hoping you could give me info on a town that doesn't exist anymore and where they might possibly have records/birth. My grandfather was born in Ney, PA. What I have been told is that it was in Cold Spring TWP., Lebanon Co. and in 1900 it had a population of 23. Being the town was so small maybe they kept records for the 23 people and if he was born in 1876 his family was part of the 23 and maybe most of them depending how big the family was! Ha-Ha! Please head me in
the right direction. Thanks alot! Oh the name of the family was Rupp Jacob Rupp's parents were Peter and Sarah Nye and I know they had 1 child at least Jacob was born Sept 8, 1876. I have no info on his parents other than their names and don't know if he had any siblings. Thanks in advance. I am trying to find my fathers family, which is from the Lebanon area. George S. Hoyer born 4/26/1892, died 3/20/1969. Irene Gensler born 12/9/1898, died 4/18/1962. Also looking for info on their parents, William Hoyer and Sybilla Moyer, George Gensler and Emma Bord. Can you help me or make some suggestions? Thanks. I am researching information on the Benedict Family. My g.g.g.g.? grandfather was named Peter Benedict he married a Mary Elizabeth Louckster/Lockster/Lankster in Lebanon on 10/14/1760. He was in the A.R.W. 15th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment of Union Volunteers. They had several children. One was named Michael who became a Methodist minister and died in Conestoge P.A. If anyone has any info. on the family and/or can tell me where the New Danville Cemetary in P.A. is,
please email me a.s.a.p. Seeking info on Friedrich MILLER's parents. Friedrich was born 12 Apr 1782 in Middletown, Dauphin Co. Died 26 Jul 1823 in Annville, Lebanon Co. Father - Adam MILLER of Middletown. Mother - Maria ? b 2 Jun 1752 in York Town d. 6 Mar 1816 in Annville. What happened to Adam? Where was he from? Who are his parents? Thank you! Looking for any information on a Mathias Hauser/Houser, b. circa 1723, and son, Henry Hauser/Houser, b. circa 1746. Also seeking birth information on the CHILDREN of Henry's son, George Peter Hauser/Houser, b. 1771. There is a record of a Matias Hauser arriving at the Port of Philadelphia on the ship "Phoenix" on September 25, 1751. I'd like to confirm, if possible, that this is the same Mathias who is the father of Henry Hauser. If anyone has information on any Hauser's named Mathias, Matthias, Matias, Matthes, or Matthew which dates earlier than 1790, I'd sure appreciate receiving it. At this point in my research I believe Mathias may have been married twice: the
first time to Magdalene ? and then to Susanna ?(after 1771). I can find no church records of the births or baptisms of any of Mathias' children. Henry had three children baptized in Reiher's Reformed (now Zion) Church near Brickerville, Elizabeth Twp., Lancaster Co., PA in the late 1760's, early 1770's (John, John Wendel, and George Peter). If my research is correct so far, siblings of Henry are Jacob, Peter, Susannah, Christina and possibly, Ludwig. I have found baptismal records for Henry's brother's children at St. Lukes (Heidelberg Luth.&Ref.) Evang. Lutheran Church, Schaefferstown, Lebanon Co., PA., but can find no trace of Henry except for an obscure census record showing a Henry Hauser in Heidelberg Twp., Dauphin Co.(now Lebanon Co.), in 1790. No other information was available. Some of Henry's nephews moved to Lebanon, Lebanon Co. where they had children baptized at Salem Lutheran Church. Some remained in Schaefferstown. I don't know where Henry or his children were at this time. Specifically, what I'm trying to learn is: 1. Whether Mathias Hauser emigrated and, if so, when and where did he emigrate from. Either way, who were his parents? 2. Where and when was Henry Hauser born, and confirmation of who his parents were. 3. Date and place of marriage between Henry Hauser and Maria Margaret ?. I believe they were married about 1766. Additional children born to them (other than John, John Wendel and George Peter). 4. Any birth records for the following children of George Peter Hauser (son of Henry): Bernhard(Bernard), Mathias(Matthew), two females born 1812-1815 and two females born 1816-1820. If anyone has convenient access to church or county records for the Lebanon/Lancaster area that can help me out I'd very much appreciate hearing from you. I'll take any scrap of Hauser information you provide me. Thank you. I am seeking the parents and siblings of Rudolph Behm/ Beam/ Boehm who was b 27 Jan 1798 in Londonderry, Dauphin Co PA which I think became part of Lebanon CO. Rudolph Behm was married to Mary Ann McKee abt 1824/25 by Rev Augustus Lochmann, a Lutheran minister (church unknown to me). He operated the Red INN in Lebanon CO sometime between 1820 and 1835; we think it was in S. Anneville. He took his family from PA to IL in the mid 1830s. Much thanks, Bettye. BICKLE/EL, Jacob, b. abt 1770-1778 somewhere in PA. The earliest location I have for him is 1811 in Gallia/Meigs Co., OH. He is supposed to have been born in PA. Do not know who his parents are or his wife's name. According to one family story Jacob came into "Old Virginia", went down the Elk River into Gallia Co., OH. All the info I have received or found has his father possibly being a Tobias Bickle, but so far the only ones I have found never
left PA. Anyone with any clues as to where these people might be would be warmly accepted, and appreciated. Right now I am going county by county in PA and VA to see if I can pick up the
right Bickle/el family. Can someone please help me with my MOYER Family research? They were residents of North Annville Twp. Lebanon County, PA, and I would like to know who are the ancestors of Benjamin MOYER [born ? died ca 1844] and his wife, Elizabeth _____? [born ? died ca 1855]. Benjamin and his wife were buried in the family grave yard on their farm in Annville Twp. The property was
bounded by the Quitapahilla Creek and other adjacent property owners, including his brother, John MOYER, who died before 1843. Their children were: my ancestor, [Nancy] Anna Mary [born 1803, married Jacob ENGLE ca 1824, died 1889 Mtg. Co., Ohio] Elizabeth [born 1820; married Daniel HEISEY ca 1838] and Leah [married John OYER ca 1830, died before 14 Jan. 1843]. Benjamin MOYER was a miller by trade, and they probably were members of the River Brethren Church or the Mennonite Church. He and his wife left a sizable estate to their children and grandchildren. I have copies of the wills of Benjamin and Elizabeth and some census records, but cannot find
their parents. I am trying to find out where Jacob Dobler came from. I am searching for information on John Bross born 1811 died 1890 at Jonestown. He was a farmer in that area and was married to Hanna Deck. I am trying to find out the name of his mother. I believe his father was George Bross born c. 1785. There were many Brosses in that area. My mother was a Weidman, daughter of Harry and Katie Daub Weidman. Mom was
born and raised in the Annville-Palmyra area. I know nothing of my
grand-fathers family except that his parents names were Aaron and Ellen. I
sure would like to find information on my Weidman family branch.
Thank You. Looking for information on the parents of Daniel Benjamin FITTING, born 6 Apr 1833. Married Lucetta NAPP on 17 Apr 1856 in the Zion Lutheran Church, Jonestown, Lebanon CO. They had 10 children, Elmira, who married Uriah C. ZEIGLER, William, Sarah Jane, Rebecca, Emma, David F., Abraham Lincoln who married Emma Jane Reinhart, Sophia and Grant. Daniel FITTING later married
Salesa (?) and had 3 more children, Henry Homer, Mason and Esbella. Daniel Benjamin FITTING died 26 Feb 1901 and was buried at the East Hanover Church of God near Ft. Indiantown Gap. I am looking for more information of the Henry H. Fernsler SR family. Information indicates that Henry H. Fernsler was born in N. Annville Twp Lebanon CO PA 2-28-1821 and was married to Sarah Haupt. Information also indicates that Johannes/John Fernsler was Henry's father and Susanna New/New was his mother. Both were probably born about 1800. I am looking for specific information as to which of the numerous John Fernslers was the father of Henry and of couse, who was Henry's grandfather. Any other information on siblings or children would also be
appreciated. If you come across the surname Moneymaker, Geldmacher, or Geltmacher please E-mail me!! At this time I'm trying to find more infomation on Lewis
Moneymaker. He died on 1812 in Rockbridge County, Virginia. I haven't found a birth, marraige, or death record on him. Just his Will -a copy of it is on my web page.
The name Moneymaker is from the German name Geldmacher. Geldmacher means "moneymaker" in "Late German." "Early German" where it was "Geldschlager"-- coin stricker. The Oldest version which is from the "Old German" Language, "Oleienschlager", also meaning "coin-striker".
The English Yorkshire listing from the thirteenth century expands the possibilities further. The term, "Anglo-Saxon' or "pre-Norman"-English,
is such because the earlier invaders of England were from Saxony, a German Duchy, part of which borders Holland, in the 11th and 12th century.
The 13th Century Yorkshire Rolls show John Moneymaker. Coincidentally, there is a John Moneymaker on the very first US Census in 1792, in Virginia.
The probability that this 13th Century John Moneymaker is an ancestor is dependent on the ships' manifests for the late 1600's and 1700's
which are available in Baltimore, MD.
Check out my genealogy site and sign my guestbook at: http://www.ovnet.com/~wfmoney/ I'm trying to get place of birth and parental information on my great grandfather (Llewellyn M. (Lee M. or L.M.) FRANCIS). I obtained his Cook County, Illinois Certificate of Death which shows he was born somewhere in Pennsylvania on August 7, 1858. The certificate has "Don't Know" for mother's maiden name and birthplace of father and mother. He eventually moved to Naperville, Illinois prior to 1879 and later to Chicago, his place of death. I suspect he may have been born in some Amish or Menonite locale, since my mother recalls he had been referred to as "Pennsylvania Dutch". I am interested in finding the exact village in Germany where Johan Christian Beck originated. He arrived in Philadelphia aboard the "Dragon" on 26 Sept. 1749. He was a powder maker and he settled in Lebanon Township, Lancaster Co. where he died in November, 1792. He is buried in the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery in Lebanon. He was married to Anna Maria; two sons, John Christian Beck, Jr. and John Philip, and three daughters. Does anyone know his exact birthplace? Thank you. I am interested in finding the exact birthplace of Johan Christian Beck, who arrived on the "Dragon" in Philadelphia on 26 Sept. 1749 from the Palatinate and Zweibrucken. He was a powder maker who settled in Lebanon Township, Lancaster County. He died in November, 1792 and is buried in the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery, in Lebanon. He was survived by his wife Anna Maria; two sons, John Christian Beck, Jr. and John Philip, and three daughters. Thank you. I am searching for information on my mother's family. Her grandfather was Henry Elmer CURREY b 19 Oct 1848 Hummeltown, Dauphin, PA. He m 24 Oct 1878 Ida Matilda CLAY b 14 Jan 1860 also in Hummeltown. Henry's father was supposedly William CURREY b 1 Mar 1797 Dauphin County d 9 Mar 1865. His wife was Margaret BENDER b ? Members of the family have connected William to James and Isabelle CURREY, but I have no concrete documentation ie vital records, town records. I would like to correspond with anyone researching this CURREY/CURRY line. I am searching for anything related to the Mase family that migrated from Lebanon County around 1820-30 to Stark Co., Ohio. Michael Mase and his wife settled around Bolivar Ohio and remained there the rest of their lives. I know where they are buried but can't find any trace of them in Lebanon County. Looking for information on the Henning family of Lebanon Co. PA. Interested in all branches. Looking for information on the Kohr family of Lebanon Co. PA. Interested in all branches, especially that of Christian Kohr. I'm interested in the Korff Surname, family said they settled in Harrisburg, PA in 1846.
I can't find John Henry Wilhelm Korff in Dauphin Co and wonder maybe he might be in Lebanon co.
He Died December 4, 1865 they say Dauphin Co. but didn't find him there. Any help I would be
grateful, If there any Korff I would be interested. Thank you.
